• Story Updates November 3rd (Evening)

    Trixie the Gypsy.

If she does come back, I wouldn't mind something like that!

    Anyway, have some story updates.

Story: Upheaval: Breaking Point (Update Part 22!)

    [Grimdark] [Adventure]

    Author: Visiden Visidane

Story: The Book of Friendship (Update Chapter 13!)

    4 Star

[Grimdark] [Crossover] [Comedy] How in the world do you expect me to find an image for this?

    Author: BillyColt
Description: Twilight Sparkle sent many letters to Princess Celestia detailing what she learned about the magic of friendship. These letters, along with many other writings, were collected into a book. The "Book of Friendship," as it was called, contained many teachings of love and tolerance, sharing and caring.

And an organization based around this book sprang up, called the Fraternity of the Joyous Friends of Princess Celestia. And whenever a Brother (or Sister) comes of age, it is their task to spread the word of the magic of friendship across Equestria and beyond.

This is the story of Brother White and Brother Scroll, two young stallions who have been tasked with spreading the word to Earthquake Island. Unfortunately, Earthquake Island is not particularly interested in party games.

[GrimLight][Adventure] LOTS of revamps on this one apparently!

    Author: Mbulsht
Description: The government has been lying to you, and I've been helping them. But no more. I'm through. When you've seen what I've seen and done what I've done, there comes a time when you've got to stand up and say enough is enough. My name is Quill Paiges, and I'm a Patcher.
    The Patchwork

Story: The Emotional Illness (Update Complete!)

    Author: Tarkana
Description: A strange sickness has infected nearly everyone in Ponyville. It seems there is no hope for a cure - until Twilight stumbles across a strange blue box...
    The Emotional Illness

Story: Dimension Twist: The Cut Sequence (Update Prose Adaptation)

    4 Star

    [Normal] [Crossover] [Comedy]

    Author: Raefire
Description: In the Kim Possible episode "Dimension Twist," The Pan-Dimensional Vortex Inducer was accidentally crossed with a TV signal, sending the characters through a myriad of TV shows. However, the writers went a little overboard with one segment of the episode, which had to be cut for time. That segment has been found, and we present it to you now.
    Dimension Twist: The Cut Sequence

    Story: Guardians (Update Story 2!)

    4 Star

    [Grimdark]

    Author: WarHorse72
Description: Twilight always knew the military wasn't wanted by most ponies. But it takes a trip to Stalliongrad going wrong for her to realize just how much they kept order and safety in Equestria regardless.
    Guardians

Story: Ever Watching (Update Chapter 7!)

    5 Star

[Grimdark] [Crossover] Ponies and ponies and ponies and ponies. Sing the song, but now imagine you're in a dark alley and you're being watched.

    Author: Redback Spino
Description: Deep among the trees, in the darkest thickets of the Everfree Forest, something is stirring. Who is this creature? Where did it com from? And what does it want with a certain purple unicorn?
    Ever Watching

Story: My Little Hangover (Update Part 8!)

    Star 5

[Normal] [Comedy] [Crossover] [Adventure] "This... is freaking beautiful. This right here? This is how you do a crossover."-Pre-Reader with a WoW dragon name.

    Author: Mousetrap
Description: It's Twilight Sparkle's 18th birthday, and in time-honored pony tradition her friends have dragged her to Las Haygas, the world-renowned City of Lights. They promise to give her a night she'll never forget. And with the lights, the glamor, and a few shots of Liquid Rainboom, it seems they're poised to deliver just that.

But when Twilight wakes up to a destroyed hotel room, a hangover so painful it leaves her unable to do magic, a missing pony, and a slew of unanswered questions, she is forced to wonder: did they party too hard? Now, the five ponies must clean up their mess by piecing together a night that none of them can remember, all the while searching for a friend that could already be halfway across the desert...

It's a lesson they'll have to learn the hard way. Some ponies just can't handle Haygas.

    18. @Jolttix

this fandom is full of manic depressives and people attempting to make their stories "deep"

    20. FINALLY
      Something I'm readingggg~ *So pleased*

    21. @Mojo
I can understand that but being deep does not always mean being dark. I like to write in my spare time and I try to add a little depth to my shipping all the time. I just wish that things could be a little bit more uplifting. That is one of the main things that keeps me watching MLP: FiM

    22. Ok. I am seriously concerned now. Where is "Through the Eyes of Another Pony"?

      ReplyDelete
    23. Pity, nothing I'm reading.

      @Mojo
You know, you rarely seem to have anything nice to say and your replies are generally condescending. Usually with an overblown attitude directed at whomever you are writing to. It wreaks of an intolerant child unable to get his way with hints of troll.

So, perhaps a little introspective is in order before tearing down everyone else? Maybe a little civility instead of reverting to crass terminology and a vocabulary best described as 'lowest common denominator'?

I'm probably just feeding a troll here, but comment after comment of vitriol is getting to be a bit much tonight. It's certainly not what I come here to see.

      ReplyDelete
    24. Goddamnit, Want, why u no update? Fuck...

      ReplyDelete
    25. @Hagil
Hey now hey now, lets not get to out of hand with this. I tend to agree with parts of his comments, other parts i'm not to happy about but still lets try to keep the site a place where we can voice our thoughts and not be shhhhed to much. But as always Seth has rights to decide what is ok and what is not.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Perhaps it's low of me, as somebody who's story is posted in here, to say this, but I feel I must.

Yes, it certainly is a pity that nothing here in this update post are things you are reading. That's a damn shame. And I must admit, there are a few fics I've been hoping to update ("Through the Eyes of Another," I'm looking at -you-) that simply seem to have fallen off the face of this good earth.

But rather than bemoaning the fact that your favorite fic hasn't updated, why not try something new? I, for one, like to give every fic I see a chance no matter the tag (unless, of course, it's a crossover with a universe I am unfamiliar with). Why not? There are people out there who, like me, are pouring their all into writing a story. The least I can do is read it over and pass on a few words about whether or not I liked it.

Yes, perhaps I don't have the time to do that constantly, but there is no reason that I should simply pass up a story for any old reason. If I'm running short on time, I just bookmark it and try to get to it later. Admittedly, I usually only read fics that are posted here on EqD, but really now there aren't that many. And my weekends are often loaded full to brimming with reading.

Why not give something a chance here? I, for one, am rather enjoying Redback's "Ever Watching."

I'm not going to say "READ MY STORY PL0X." I wouldn't dare push something at somebody who doesn't want to hear it. But simply passing up a story because of its tag, or because it's not the story you've been waiting for is detrimental to the people writing it. A fanfiction author thrives on comments and feedback. When we fail to give that to them, we miss out on the possibility of them writing something truly great.

    27. Trixie as part of my people? I can dig that

      ReplyDelete
    28. @Jolttix
Perhaps you're right. He hasn't said anything particularly insulting or intolerant in this comment thread yet. Well, other than implying people who like grimdark are all manic depressive.

I don't generally like grimdark myself but after a bout of curiosity last week I now give them a chance if the premise sounds interesting. However, I don't see the need for others to speak out against it so poisonously at every opportunity.

I'd also normally keep quiet and let this kind of thing pass but I've been seeing the same foulness spewing forth from this one name through nearly every comment thread tonight. If he's trolling he's doing a damned fine job of it - he certainly got under my skin.

    29. Ooooo, Transcendence, you sly dog. I hope you update soon...

      ReplyDelete
    30. As the author of one of the grimdark fics there, I didn't write it because I'm depressed or pretentious. I wrote it because I thought it was funny.

      ReplyDelete
    31. !!!!!!!!!!! That Patchwork fic updated!?!?!?! WOO!!!!!!!!!!

      ReplyDelete
    32. Seth, I thought you said that YOU WOULDN'T PUT COMPLETION STORY POSTS IN THESE!

      ReplyDelete
    33. Ever watching updated? oh dear. O was planning on sleeping tonight...

      ReplyDelete
    34. Why does that "Book of Friendship" make me think of Jehovah's Witnesses? ...and why do I feel I need to read it in spite of this?

      ReplyDelete
    35. @Urthdigger Ah, Mormons, not JW's. Still, point stands.

      ReplyDelete
    36. @Unknown

      -Paradise
      -Merely a Mare

are some other fics with a maddeningly slow update schedule.

      ReplyDelete
    37. Empty Room has apparently dropped off the face of the planet. Lovely.

      ReplyDelete
    38. *looks at story update pic*

Is this the part where I quote the Frollo?

      ReplyDelete
    39. @Mbulsht

This, this and this again. The pre-readers are pretty strict about what they let through, so anything posted should be worth reading. If you're bored enough to come in and whine about how your favourite hasn't updated, why not scan a few of these synopses? Who knows, maybe you'll find something to relieve that boredom?

      ReplyDelete
    40. @Kuroi Tsubasa Tenshi

Agreed. I'm sorry some readers are expecting TER to update soon (it's on the works but it *will* take a while), but there are a lot of fics worth reading here in EqD!

You might be surprised by trying a genre you usually don't read! (Hint to Grimdark haters.)

      ReplyDelete
    41. @Mbulsht
      Very much agree.

This has been bugging me for a while. I know not everyone is going to like or want to try what I write. I'm cool with that. But I don't need it shoved in my face when my stories update. You don't need to try something new with every update, but at least don't tell the authors "I have no interest whatsoever in your story" after they've spent Celestia only knows how long writing and editing.
