  • Simple PMV Compilation #136

In this slide, we encountered a wild Apple Bloom, scientific name Earthponycantfishicus. Note the disappointed look on her face as she contemplates her lack of dexterity with clunky hooves.

It's Simple PMV time, get the usual swarm of it below!

    [Slice of Life][Comedy]

    Author: ocalhoun

    Description:
Princess Celestia sets out to reform Queen Chrysalis. Easier said than done.
I've done too much dark and serious stuff with Chrysalis. It's time to have some fun with her playful, snarky side.

  • Good Morning Baltimare - Behind the Scenes, Animatic and More!

Earlier today we posted Good Morning Baltimare, a parody of Hairspray, that was shown at BronyCon a few weeks ago. While we all love our pony animations we rarely get to see what it takes to put such an animation together so the people behind the animation have this short informative video for you aspiring animators and animation enthusiasts out there.

We've also got reactions to the animation, an animatic and more after the break!

  • Dark and Light Spotlight Music: Rancor / The Land of Equestria

What is that image you ask? I have no idea. It's a super creepy song though. Something about Discord apparently. We don't do music for visuals though!

Start off with that, and get something much more upbeat celebrating the light side of Equestria! We are super late on it, but it's the thought that counts right?

    Now go!

1.) Rancor (Instrumental - Creepy Orchestral Electronic)
2.) The Land of Equestria (Instrumental - Celebratory epic orchestral!)

  • Discussion: You Are Now an Pony Chef, Design a Recipe for Burgers and Hay Fries

Good news! The portal between Earth and Equestria has finally opened, and ponies are swarming in to explore the wonders of Humanland! Hundreds of amazing cultures have opened their borders to the cartoon pony based sapients, welcoming them to delve deep into the flavors and sights of another world.

Unfortunately they seem to have run into an issue. Our omnivorous diet that relies heavily on meat products has made restaurant trips a bit boring for the new hooved tourists. We have salads and vegetarian menus, but a race of herbivores has concocted meals over the years that would put our limited selection of 100% meat free foods to shame.

Luckily we have you! For years now, you have studied these ponies. You have learned their habits, and delved into their culture via that weird multi-dimensional viewing box thing that creates pony episodes. You are the perfect candidate to design some human style foods that equines can dive into!

So, how do you satisfy their tastebuds? What meal ideas and recipes do you offer to the restaurants of the world to give an army of hay eating ponies a taste of what Earth is made of?  (literally)

  • Comic: Changeling Scout 20 / Find Yourself 128 / Without Magic 67 / Messenger 2 / To Love Alicorn 25 / Bloody Night 2

Changeling scout sure has had one heck of an adventure worthy of any Daring Do book I'd say. I guess the moral of the comic is that sometimes we get so wrapped up in other people's adventures that we miss our own.

Anyway, comic update time my friends! Click for full!

  • Galacon 2015: The Retrospective

Better late than never. EQD's a busy bunch, and some of us have only been back in the United States for a week or so. We hope this makes up for it.

First though, I have a confession to make- I love going to conventions.

Getting to see the miniature horse enthusiasts that you work and associate with in meatspace is a rare treat that all of us can only afford to do a handful of times a year. It’s an amazing feeling to get to meet the blog’s viewers, the show staff, and maybe make a few new friends along the way.

Equestria Daily has been a guest at many events going back to the fandom’s first fledgling year and the very first Bronycon, and we’ve always had a blast. The exceptions are rare enough to have a name; I think we decided on The Con That Shall Not Be Named. We’ve been invited all over the United States over many years and been to everything from the smallest of get-togethers all the way to the biggest conventions the fandom has to offer. We’re often repeat customers. It’s like an addictive drug without the unpleasantness of a gulag.

Where to go from there? How about Germany, and Europe’s biggest Friendship is Magic convention?

  • Animation: Good Morning Baltimare

An amazing animation came out over BronyCon weekend that we saw some of you send camrips of a couple weeks back. Since then we've been waiting for the official release of the project for all to see and today is the day!

At an impressive 3.5 minutes long (not including credits) it really showcases some of the best animation the fandom can dish out. Plus Fluffle Puff stars in it, how can you beat that?

Check on after the break for the full video!

  • Newbie Artist Training Grounds V: Day 1

At long last it is finally back! Are you all ready to draw from colorful, pastel equines? For four years the ATG has been an inspiration to many people to try their hand at drawing, taking their first steps at improving their skills. As we've stated in previous years we believe anyone can draw and draw well if they put their mind to it! All it takes is dedication and practice! So why won't you join us in this amazing 15 day journey?

But enough from me, here's a message from Phoe our Blog Pony Princess with some words for you all!

"Hey folks! my name's Phoe, erstwhile Headmistress of the NATG. You might notice I'm not "in charge" of the proceedings this time around; unfortunately other commitments haven't left me with enough time to devote to the event as you guys deserve, so I've shifted control over to the more than capable hooves of Calpain. He'll be guiding you through this fifteen day journey and popping in every night to showcase your progress and nudge you one day closer toward being a better you: a you that can art!

Not that I'm disappearing completely, of course! Every one of the daily themes is still a product of the silly pony brain inside my silly pony head, and I'll be lurking in the galleries and in the comments trying to provide feedback and encouragement to as many people as time will let me. Let's all do our best to make this NATG just as great as the ones that have come before. I know you can do it. Good luck!"

With our introductions out of the way I'm sure those of you new to the ATG are wondering how this is all going down. Well, each day at 12am we will be giving you a prompt to use for your drawing which you will then have 24 hours to complete, though if you're a little late don't worry as we'll keep the doors open a little bit past the due date. During that time you will be able to submit your picture (or pictures if you're really productive) through our submitter system. Anything is acceptable as long as it follows the prompt in some way. Digital art, traditional, colored or not, ect are accepted so feel free to use your imagination to its fullest! And by anything that includes non-ponies as well! Feel free to draw any creature from the world of FiM, humanized, anthro or otherwise. Just make sure that your submission meets our site guidelines meaning no porn or extreme gore and keeps at a PG-13 level or below.

For those of you who participated in the last ATG we do not have prizes available this year unfortunately.

Anyhow, this has gotten long enough I think! We've got something simple for you guys to cut your teeth on: Draw a pony keeping still/draw a pony holding tight. Have fun with the prompt by either making puns, interpreting the prompt in a unique way or whatever you'll be happy with! You'll have until August 23 at 12am PST (-8 GMT) to submit your picture to the submitter which you can find here. Tomorrow we will feature the gallery containing the pictures created for day one and give you the next prompt.

For those of you looking for some advice on how to draw we have a comprehensive tutorial section on EqD as well as a wonderful tutorial page provided by the ATG Alumni Group.
