The ponies are superior. 15 years ago Lauren Faust bombarded us with this insanely cute model, and I'm not sure if anything else would have worked nearly as well. Would Friendship is Magic have been successful if they were all colorful cats? Dogs? Raccoons? Why did ponies work?
The weird thing is, a lot of pony fans don't even really like horses. I know I'm not a fan of them. But make them small, anime style, and give them cat features, and suddenly I'm hooked for a decade and a half. I've talked to so many people that share that same sentiment.
