However, I found My Little Dashie laughable, yet my soul hurts to even think about Simply Rarity.

Dash and Scootaloo are among my favorite ponies so I would still be hard pressed to read it.

ReplyDeleteIn a nutshell, it's Rarity's backstory from before she came to Ponyville. It remains one of the greatest works of this fandom, to be honest, and I recommend it to pretty much everyone, regardless of their particular tag preferences.
@Dinozar415 -- My understanding is that it is complete, yes. It spent a long, long time going back and forth between the prereaders and the author, so pretty much everything is written, pending final revisions.

It's hard to explain my view without going into spoilers, but I guess if you went through the comments on the fic, it's pretty obvious who's responsible for the Sad tag.
It's an enjoyable read, even if Corejo is super stubborn about some of his purple : P

In my mind, there's a difference between a character being cruel for the sake of conflict, and being emotionally callous for the sake of creating an intriguing dynamic to be explored. I would hope it's the latter.
I guess I'll bite. I try not to read a fic with expectations like this, as I find it unreasonable. But it can't be helped this time. :P

ReplyDeleteYeah, folks have varying reactions to Sad fics, which is why it's difficult to give you a measure of Transcendence on a scale. I'd say just give it a shot and see how it goes.

ReplyDeleteIt's easy to say how sad it is, but it's hard to say how sad it will become. I know what will happen throughout the story and its ending, but it's hard to say how sad it will actually be.
Without revealing any more, I truly believe you will be fully satisfied with the relationship/conflict by the end. That is my goal.
