Hold up, I think there is a serious spelling error here. That cutie mark does not belong to anypony named LULAMOON. This is idenitity theft of the HIGHEST CALIBER. Trixie is NOT pleased.
Anyway, someone sent me all 24 of the 3rd blindbag set that was leaked on Taobao a while back. They are apparently very much real. It seems to be focusing on sparkly and metallic (Special Edition) ponies this time around, with a few colts and classics thrown in for good measure.
Of the mix, we have Colgate (Minuette), Blues, (Royal Riff), and Caramel (Chance-a-Lot) for background ponies.
But Trixie... why?

Obviously the wiki is a lost cause. The admins have killed it. Time to move on. There are already others out there that I am sure will be happy to have the help of fans. Leave the wiki admins who want to have the end say on what is canon to themselves. They obviously hate the fandom...
ReplyDeleteShadowdemon137: "Who do we take for granted, the fandom that makes ponies murderers or the company that controls the franchise?"
Berry Punch was the wrong kind of pony correct? Not sure about the others... If they look different from the show versus the toy... I'd say unless an official source says they are the same, it would be okay to say they aren't. it's one thing if they are obviously the same with a small mistake... But entirely wrong species opens up a comfortable canon loop hole I'm my eyes.
ReplyDelete@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDelete...keep being polite (for the most part) and continue to take all sources into account, realizing that this is a way more gray area than it seems, rather than judging one source as more "proper" than the others, and don't let throwawaytv anywhere near it.
Then no. It won't break my heart.
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDeleteIts okay, it was just weird to hear that said as if we all were big fans of the "cupcakes" fic.
Well, isn't Lulamoon's similarities to Trixie a lot like the similarities Lyra has with Heartstrings? I mean neither have the same mane since they're recolors but both are similar in coat/eye colors and cutiemarks?
Guys. Hey!
ReplyDeleteI'm PRETTY sure word from animators. take MUCH higher priority than Hasbro's merchandise department.
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDelete"All they do is look similar" is the same argument that was used to handwave away the little differences between the Golden Harvest toy/Carrot Top character, Heartstrings/Lyra, et. al., dude. Aside from the sparkly metallic look Lulamoon is no more severely different from Trixie than the above two are from their counterparts.
@Pants-on-Head Man
ReplyDeleteI am different on each wiki. I know the Brony wiki is more fanbased, so I let the other bureaus handle that stuff a lot of the time.
I apologize for making wikis so different...
Forgot to address Carrot top/golden harvest... The toy is clearly of that background pony... And unless Faust, the show, our acrew member comes out and says otherwise, that's the official name.
ReplyDeleteNo the quote of the nick name don't count... It's one thing if a crew member says "in the script they are called..." Versus "yeah I called the pony this". Think Rover from the diamond dog episode. His name was never mentioned, but crew members confirmed what it was on the script.
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDeleteDon't ignore the "Especially since they don't use the same designs, some even arent the same type of pony." part and ask "... So what does make characters the same?", there's no justification for ignorance in an argument.
When it comes to the shows ponies, They're only the same as the toys if they have 100% same characteristics. same cutie mark doesn't autuomatically make it the same pony, as cutie marks aren't simply restricted to only one pony, as demonstrated by plenty of other bg ponies sharing them. likewise with colour schemes.
The reason why the bg ponies of the show and the blindbag ponies are not the same is simply because the designs don't match at all. Some of which aren't even the same type of pony.
If you go and call the show's bg pony that happens to be fan-named lyra, "heartstrings", yet continue to call berry puch by her fanname simply because the blindbag version is a unicorn is generally a form of hypocrisy.
Not saying the fan-made names are the correct terms. I know you guys are trying to use official sources. But I don't believe these are the official names for the shows bg ponies simply because they are clearly not 100% the same characters in terms of appearance/type of pony as the blindbags.
@TheBlackBaron
ReplyDeleteYeah, it really does sound like the same argument. I brought up on Carrot Top's wiki page that Golden Harvest looked kind of different since her mane wasn't really orange and since Golden Harvest's color is tied with the name, maybe they were different, but I just got a comment saying that "they were too similar to be unrelated."
@Rockabore@TheBlackBaron
ReplyDeleteThe argument for Lyra/Heartstrings had no basis to give it the name Lyra. All the arguments led back to the fanbase, even if the differences were there in the toys.
Trixie, however, has basis in the show for her name, making the name Lulamoon obsolete for her official name.
@Kaijyuu
ReplyDeleteWell... the admins of the wikia, for one.
...toys' names don't count for 'real pony name'. At best, for a family name or something.
Lulamoon ? A dumb name, if you ask me... Trixie is better, and official (in the series) too anyway.
Also : Minuette is *NOT* Colgate in any way (other than the mark). The image clearly shows a recolored body of Twilight, anyway.
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDeleteLyra, Lyra Heartstrings.
-The end-
@Mason
ReplyDeleteI'm done arguing about this. I've explained everything discussed here:
http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Shadowdemon137/Heartstrings_change
If you have any more questions after that, leave a comment on the blog or on my talk page. I'm done repeating myself.
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDeleteTypical stubborn reply....
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDeleteI actually preferred it when the article name was "Incidental Unicorn #2". That has more basis than Lyra or Heartstrings.
The effort that goes into these things is pathetic. They didn't even get the mane 6 right.
ReplyDeleteI like how there's been official show-accurate merchandise that calls her Lyra, and MLP wikia admins still refuse to accept this as the name of the background pony, instead naming her after blind bag pony that doesn't even look like Lyra.
ReplyDeleteApparently, the wiki has been fixed now....
ReplyDelete@Mason
ReplyDeleteAnd you're calling me stubborn...
Look, I don't know what has crawled up everyone's butts to make them think that the wiki is the Word of God. You can still call the damn ponies whatever the hell you want.
If you go by model than fluttershy wouldn't be official because of being a rainbow knock off... They have a limited number of toy molds... That argument needs to be thrown out... I think the case is simple... If the toy has the cutie mark, same general color scheme, and same pony type, it's a match. If there is already a name assigned by the show that always wins... Period. It satisfies the hierarchy of canon and grants plausible deniability to certain bg pony toys (berry punchfor example) Sorry, that does nothing for Heartstrings or Golden Harvest... But even 'bad' official sources are still more official than fanon
ReplyDelete@Timofei
ReplyDeleteWelovefine is a third party source. Simple as that.
There are no words saying those toys have any relation to the BG ponies. For all we know, it's entirely possible the similarity is just a funny coincidence. How's that sound?
ReplyDeleteDifference between welovefine and the toys, wlf is LICENSED apparel, the toys are actually made by hasbro. Huge difference. The designs for the shirts don't go through approval at hasbro, wlf pays a licensing fee then can put whatever they want on them (see fan submissions) as long as it meets certain guidelines.
ReplyDelete@DeRockProject
ReplyDeleteIf we went by coincidences, then cupcakes would be canon thanks to Party of One.
I think that everyone is so focused on TGAP that they're forgotten that Sparkler just got slapped with the name "Amethyst Star"; what this makes me worry is that when they come up with a grey-coated, yellow-maned recolor of Rainbow Dash with bubbles adorning her flanks, she'll be named something like "Seaspray", "Bubbly Delight" or "Lady Bubbliella Muffinda Ponyexpressia The Third" owing to Legal's need to give us the middle finger.
ReplyDelete@DreadedCandiru2
ReplyDeleteOh god, I am going to kill myself when that day comes...
We don't have to worry as much with Derpy/Ditzy as we already have 2 official names that trump anything new the toys come up with.
ReplyDeleteDerpy from Faust's autographed auction and several behind the scenes sources (including names of image files on the hasbro and mlp websites) and ditzy again from Faust on her comments about winter wrap up.
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDeleteQuite the opposite. How it goes is:
It's too much a coincidence. Therefore, it's possible that Cupcakes isn't canon. And we should assume so. And I thought same should go for "Heartstrings." That's what I wanted to say.
@Shadowdemon137
I think everyone can agree on this.
(Except we already have Lauren Faust herself say otherwise, so it's all cool. XD)
@Koji
ReplyDeleteKoji! XD It's hard for me to know who you're replying to! XD
And yeah, you summed that up perfectly.
Please guys, I'm not trying to be the bad guy in all of this... I hate arguments, and yes, I hate many of the names from the blind bags. But I'm just following our wikis policies... Please understand.
ReplyDeleteSo a quick wrap up for those that didn't want to read 200 some contents...
ReplyDeleteEverypony is in agreement that Hasbro misspelled trixie... understandable really, lulamoon is right next to the keys for trixie on the keyboard.
Toy names go against fanon and no one can agree on anything except that derpy is ditzy and ditzy is derpy and that if she were here she'd say something incomprehensible that would make us laugh and forget wtf we're arguing about.
@DeRockProject
ReplyDeleteWord of Faust falls below Word of Hasbro on the wiki's official order, actually. It's why "McIntosh" went back to "Macintosh" (and I'm not touching the debate on which one is better).
It's usually claimed that they could just use the "Ditzy Doo" name that's been unofficially attributed to Derpy, but after this I highly doubt that's going to happen.
@Koji
ReplyDeleteWLF merchandise is official and show-accurate. Blind bag toys are not show-accurate. The only official merchandise where Lyra appears as in the show is WLF shirts. (by the way, Hasbro has to approve each one of these shirts before they are sold). Thus, Lyra is the preferred, Hasbro-approved name for the background pony. Heartstrings is a name of a blind bag pony that doesn't look like anything in the show.
@TheBlackBaron
ReplyDelete"They" being Hasbro and referring to a Derpy toy, I mean. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
Well I filled my argument quota for the night, anything beyond that will be frustrating instead of just a fun distraction from work. In the name of friendship I brohoof you all and hope no comments were taken personally or offensively. Back to work I go.
ReplyDeleteWow, you guys. I've collected ponies for nigh on fifteen years. At the height of my collection I had around 400. And yet, here I am telling you to take My Little Pony less seriously.
ReplyDeleteTrixie as "Lulamoon" is worthy of a facepalm (and that's a stupid name regardless), but what's with all this fighting and angst? Just shrug your shoulders and call the ponies whatever you want, like I did every time Hasbro trotted out a pony named "Baby Susie" or "Chuck E. Cheese" (don't ask) or "Floater."
To paraphrase Rarity, "They're fictional characters. ALL the names are made up." Pick whatever fictional name you like best and run with it, and let other people do the same.
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDeleteI don't think you have to worry too much about Derpy getting a rename;
Although show staff falls below merchandise in the hierarchy, the fact that there is such a multitude of materials using the name Derpy (including storyboards, file names, interviews, Faust, etc) that they can easily be said to outweigh any hypothetical blind-bag, without compromising the Wiki's policies.
Guess this shows just how much canon toys are. Which is less than shipping fanfics.
ReplyDeleteOdds are there will be a Derpy toy (someone now seems to be randomly picking BG ponies for toys). It will not be named Derpy. It will not be named Ditzy Doo. It will be Bubbleheart or Bubbleshine or Twilight Bubbles. What then?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Trixie is a copyrighted name and can't be used for the toy?
ReplyDeleteWell Daisy's blind bag is called Flower Wishes and no one is throwing a huge fight over that.
This still doesn't solve the problem of them not selling them in the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteEquestria Daily demonstrates its poor journalism skills again by comparing Royal Reef to Blues. Nice going.
ReplyDeleteFix fluttershy , you dolts!
ReplyDeleteLulamoon... she never did approve of her parents pompy boring lifestyle, and much less her name, who wants to be just another overly rich pony who merely gains wealth and fame through inheritance?
ReplyDeleteNo, for Lulamoon had other interests in mind, things she had been intrigued by since she was a filly. She didn't know a lot of the world but she knew she wanted more then simple wealth and fame handed to her on a diamond platter. NO for this mare was determined to make a name for herself! But how? and with such a name known by all, including the Princesses how can she possibly prove herself capable of garnering such love and admiration that normally comes with being the prettiest and wealthiest Mare in Equestria?
"That's it I'll become a traveling story teller and with my magic I will woo and awe the crowd with sights and sounds their little pony minds have yet to feast upon!"
And thus, Lulamoon used her Dad's credit card and bought herself the most expensive luxurious Stage Wagon money can buy. Course, she had to do a make over otherwise all would recognize her where ever she went. So she went from curls to straight combed hair instead.
"Now no one shall be able to tell the difference!"
She thought,.. "Hmm, yes I guess these ragitty old things will do..." Thus Lulamoon put on a 100% Embroidered Embersilk Mageweave Cloak and Hat emblazoned by diamond dusted Moons and gold dust Stars "Well I see it holds true.... there isn't ANYTHING I can't pull off *Lulamoon stares for an incredulous amount of time at the mirror admiring her humble perfection.*
And thus she ran off into the night, after informing her butlers that she'd be going on a small trip outside Manehatten. She later picks up the name Trixie, which she thought sounded boring and went with the better name "The Great And Powerful Trixie! Now that's a name NO pony will ever forget! I wonder if I can legally make 'The' a first name..."
And thus "Great And Powerful Trixie, The" continued to work on her Stage persona and how she would quickly gain the love and admiration and wealth she already has, only as a new mare with a new personality that will strike deep within a Pony and make them NEVER forget her face or name again...
"I think I'll start small... oh this little place here should do fine for us, yes this 'Ponyville' will do just fine."
Also doesn't matter it is possible for others to believe what they want far as what's official or not. I for one say if they don't look and have the cutie mark of the ones on the show then they aren't the same Pony :P
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-MlwUaHssxw#t=89s shows you an example of how 2 totally different Ponies can have the same Cutie Mark but still be slightly different in some aspects. The tall younger one on the left Allieway? And her I would assume Mom? on the right having the same exact cutie mark save for the middle thingy having a different color.
Not same mane/tail style and matching cutie mark I say to each their own but imo the ones that aren't official from the show aren't worth getting, then again I don't collect them anyway xD
@Cátsy
ReplyDeleteNice. Decent fanfic :D Although I don't think Ponyville should've been the first place she went. I dunno, it just feels weird. It's probably just me.
I also JUST noticed that Lulamoon is... Lullaby-moon. I first thought it was some dumbass typo of Lunamoon or something. XD
ReplyDeleteGaaah are these even in the USA yet!?!?
ReplyDeleteFanon still will rule over canon, in this case.
ReplyDeleteThis just proves that the names on the merchandise names are absolutely worthless now.
ReplyDeletePersonally I look at these things and I am already disappointed because all I see are toys that are recolored versions of the main characters and Big Mac, with Fluttershy not even having her own model. To me, that's just really lazy.
Second, naming the fan ponies with different names I could understand. But this one is not an unnamed background character. IT'S A NAMED CHARACTER AND ONE TIME VILLAIN! Did they think we forgot her? Not likely.
So again, this just proves that these names are worthless if they can't even keep named characters straight. Though I will admit the combination Lyra Heartstrings did sound very nice to me.
MLPWIKI LOST ALL CREDIBILITY THAT IT HAD.
ReplyDeletePlease, instead of arguing, just disregard it and move to a wiki without egotistical and insane people as admins!

What can I find these Alien clone blindbag ponies?
ReplyDeleteall my money is now going to be saved for all of these
ReplyDelete@Digital Anaphora i think like target or toys r us or something
ReplyDeleteOk so we finally can say the blindbags names are not 100% official. End of story. Fanon wins.
ReplyDeletehold up guys, twilight velvet looks like twilight's mom, and twilight sk- DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE A PLOT LINE HERE?
ReplyDeleteI'm less worried about their names and more wishing I could buy them without having to get them from Germany via Ebay. Zellers & Toys-R-Us are not holding up their end in my neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteAlso, is there a code-list like there was with the first series, so the 'blind' part isn't?
Proves the toys aren't canon :)
ReplyDeleteChance-a-lot? I really like that name! :]
ReplyDeleteAnd an Applejack special edition!? HAY YEAH!!! 8D
Well, for tose who have the possibility to get these blind bag ponies, don't see the bad side. You're so lucky to have them, meanwhile people as I who live in a diferent country and never arrived the blind bags wish a lot to have these ponies, I really want to have all the blind bag ponies but these that are on e-bay are so expensive to buy and with a big possibility that the delivery is "lost" in the way :[
@Shadowdemon137
ReplyDelete*Boot to the Head* for stupid reference.
SHOESHINE??
ReplyDeleteinb4 UNDERDOG
THERES NO NEED TO FEAR
UNDERHORSE IS HERE
@ultra8
ReplyDeleteFinally, someone points out the real problem with the blindbag toys!
Twilight Velvet sounds like a Bond Pony. (Anybody ever ponified James Bond?)
ReplyDeleteThese names are just painful.
ReplyDeleteIt's canon.Deal with it,bitches.
ReplyDeleteThis wave is a big miss... unless those metallic ponies are die-cast (as Optimus Primal said, it's a lost art), I am not interested in any of them. Already have all 6 sparkly translucent ones from the first two waves.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sky sounds/looks like Twilight Sparkle's brother...
C'mon guys, we all knew Trixie had to be a stage name, right? :P
ReplyDeleteLulamoon is kinda pretty actually.
Well, reading through the comments has been interesting. I may not be any sort of authority here, but the comments made by those from the wiki has made me decide it is time to write it off. I mean, the inconsistency is astounding; Lulamoon has nothing to do with Trixie because it looks similar but not exactly like her, but Lyra is 'Heartstrings' because, even though the toy barely looks like her, the character it seems to be based off of only has a fan name. I know canon > fanon, but that just seems spiteful. I mean really, who else bu the fans are going to be using the wiki anyways? It sounds like the admins are fighting for the sake of being the ones who are 'right' at this point, just for the sake of stubborn pride. At least compromise; Lyra, for example, wouldn't even have a page if fans didn't give enough of a damn about her to notice her frequent and often odd appearances. Use the 'Incidental' name, and list the other names in order of canon.
ReplyDeleteI say that if fanon names are never considered a valid source then the wiki should be consistent and dump all fan names or names that aren't 100% confirmed, even if the character has no alternate. If Lyra's page needs to become 'Incidental unicorn #2', so be it. If Berry Punch's page needs to be changed to 'Punch sipping earth pony' then so be it. If fan names have nothing to do with canon, then the wiki admins need to put their money where their mouth is and eliminate every fan name listed on there.
I'm in favor of ignoring blindnag names henceforth. It was at the third Twilight 'somepony' that I decided that they were trolling us.
ReplyDeleteHowever the metallic ones are pretty awesome.
Blindbags: y u no sold where I can buy them?!
ReplyDeleteAha! I knew Colgate was a TimeFilly! She's Susan as a Pony!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Lulamoon is the name the Trixie now uses when she's close to Pony Ville, just in case
Hmm, does anyone else think that Twilight Velvet and Twilight Sky look a bit like Twilight Sparkle's parents?
@Socially Inept Luna
ReplyDelete*Slow clap*
Bravo, brony. Bravo. Best sum up I've ever heard.
Also seems to be Caramel, Colgate, Uncle Orange and Granny Smith... Considering two of those names are cannon I am disappoint.
ReplyDeleteAnypony know when they will be realeased into stores?
ReplyDeleteSassaflash is the worst name I've ever heard. I'm not sure how you can rename Caramel, who was actually named IN THE SHOW.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm on board for Minuette. That's cute, good name for an hour-glass cutie mark. Though they misspelled "minuet", if they were going for the name of the dance.
Do we have an agreement that these blindbag names (all of them!) cannot possibly be canon now?
ReplyDeleteI mean, Trixie IS canon. "Lulamoon"? What the hell?
The special editions are pretty cool, but the rest of these... Just, no.
My eyes where playing games on me when I saw electric sky's name. I swore it said electric six which would have been awesome and suiting to the electric six's high voltage music video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a4gyJsY0mc
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or are these ponies just re-colors of the mane 6? And for the Trixie/Lulamoon problem, just think of Lulamoon as Trixie's last name.
ReplyDeleteReally Hasbro? SHOESHINE? Who came up with these names? Greedy morons who just randomly made up names to get more money?
Any why does Fluttershy look like Rainbow Dash? Were they too lazy to make a mold for her or something?
Uncle orange has a first name...
ReplyDeleteTwilight's mom has a name...
YES!
I see Hasbro is becoming wiser. I think tat it was quite the clever idea to have special edition figures.
ReplyDelete@fizzlefist
ReplyDeleteTwilight Velvet is Twilight Sparkle's mother,
I think it's cannon, it's confirmed on mlpwiki.
Rarity Special Edition... *drools*
ReplyDeleteIf you guys remember right, the Trixie toy that is coming out is named Trixie Lulamoon...so maybe they just forgot to put her first name?
ReplyDeleteAlso guys, that Stallion is not Blues/Noteworthy. Blues/Noteworthy is lighter blue with bridged music notes for his cutie mark. That Stallion (Royal Riff) is darker and has 2 G-clefs for his cutie mark...they are not the same pony at all, pay attention please! :)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletehere's the link to the picture of the blindbag named Trixie Lulamoon: http://www.derpyhoovesnews.com/wave-4-blind-bag-ponies/attachment/13/

the fact that anyone has gotten these 2 mixed up at all I find very sad...
I find the lack of RainbowDash special edition disturbing
ReplyDeleteThe wave where all the standard ponies have their prior special edition status sent to the moon.
ReplyDeleteThis is that wave.
Hi. Where can I find the number on the blind bags wave 4? Please help me
ReplyDeleteSo i went and bought blind bags, i got mary may and berry green i was like WTF.
ReplyDelete
