• Poll Time: What Kind of Pony Fan Are You?

We did this poll way back when EQD was 1/12th the size it is today, and I've been asked to run it again, so lets do it!  All of you summer break bronies are completely different than us oldtimers, but in what ways?  Hit it up on the right hand side bar!

    5. Awesome, a poll! Let's get votin' and stuff...

I can't wait to see what the results are this time around.

    6. There's no button for "Ponies are adorable catharsis."

      ReplyDelete
    7. Well I voted. I checked off 6 of the 10 choices :P

      ReplyDelete
    8. Watchs it and adores everything pony, except R34

      ReplyDelete
    9. Huh. I don't really feel like there's a spot for me. I watch the episodes, read and write fanfiction, but I don't spend all my time on it either. Neither do I annoy people about ponies. Hrm.

      ReplyDelete
    10. This will never be as perfect as the first time.

We got 34% for *clop clop clop*

      That was an amazing poll.

      ReplyDelete
    11. I've read/written fanfic, seen every episode three or four times at least, and go to every BMN. I don't talk about it in public anymore. Nor do I shove it in people's faces.

      ReplyDelete
    12. Never talk about it in public. Don't bug people about the ponies on non-pony websites (though I've made one somewhat pony-related video, poking fun at haters only to have, ironically, the haters think the video was on their side). I read fan fiction a lot, help Pen Stroke with his, and I have a few things in the works that will probably not see the light of day until next year after Season 2 for a variety of reasons.

...that's about it, actually. I will say that pony has helped me to be a more cheerful, less cynical person and generally allowed me to appreciate more "cute" things without gagging.

...okay, so I technically have a fan avatar but again I don't flaunt it where it wouldn't be welcomed.

    13. my other is that I spend my not-free time doing pony stuff as well, when im not supposed to be, ie skipping class for ponies and stuff :(
      i have a problem

    14. New arrival here, so it's "other" for the time being. Time will tell where exactly this goes.

      ReplyDelete
    15. The kind that watches ponies, reads fanfiction (not much of a grimdark reader though sry), comics, randomly puts up pics of rainbow dash 20% cooler and twilight loving and tolerating the shit outa you posters in tf2, and watches parody vids on youtube :D

      ReplyDelete
    16. Btw, guys let's remember.

*Clop Clop Clop* is not the silly, pointless hipster answer. It means you jack off to ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    17. whoa, my drawing on the front page! *Squee*
      I love you guys

      ReplyDelete
    18. "Days left to vote: 34"

That's...quite a long time to see the results.

      ReplyDelete
    19. deuueaugh, I didn't know there were that many cloppers D:

      ReplyDelete
    20. Pony music is my favorite part of the fandom. <3

      ReplyDelete
    21. A lot of people are just going to vote for the "*clop* *clop* *clop*" one simply for shits 'n giggles. Some of them will vote for it because it actually rally fits. lol XD

      ReplyDelete
    22. All and all I'm pretty open about my love for the ponies, but I don't talk much about it. I mean if someone found out I don't deny it and I make references all the time, so it's not like I'm ashamed or anything. I just like to be mysterious about it I guess.

      ReplyDelete
    23. I collect fanart I like (there's a lot of it), have over a hundred wallpapers for my computer (not my cell phone), and have downloaded that CMC point-and-click game demo.

As for the whole clop-clop-clop thing, I actually consider pics of that nature to be heart-breaking.

      ReplyDelete
    24. People who collect pony toys aren't really hardcore Bronies in my eyes since those ponies are nothing like they should be.

I annoy everyone with how obsessed I am

I spend all my free time doing pony related things

All of my electronic devices have pony wallpaper/themes

      My ring tone is pony

My mp3 player is filled with pony

      Other

      ReplyDelete
    25. Im the anonymous, music, art, and pony loving, commenting brony who IRL doesn't let anyone know that i'm a brony

      ReplyDelete
    26. Or, rather, i'm the kind of brony who is secretive about it, despite being a huge fan

      ReplyDelete
    27. I download a ton of pony-themed game mods!
You should see my Team Fortress 2.

My MP3 player has some pony songs, not a lot, just my favorites that I heard on here.

And I won't shut up about MLP to anyone that will listen.

      ReplyDelete
    28. Although I marked "Toy Collector" despite not owning a single toy related to MLP, here is the reasoning:

I never thought I would watch a show called MLP. Never thought I would set every background, screensaver, and poster I have to MLP. Never thought I would pay the $50 to get two MLP shirts from welovefine. Never thought all I would do with my free time is watch MLP, talk about MLP, and read this site.

Considering all this, the moment Hasbro develops quality MLP toys, I am sure my wallet will be $50 lighter.

Conclusion: Lauren Faust can take anything and make it good!

    31. I annoy everyone with how obsessed I am

I spend all my free time doing pony related things such as listening to music, reading blogs and wanting the tee shirts (cant afford right now) :P

All of my electronic devices have pony wallpaper/themes

Just my iPod touch, iPhone, iPad and Laptop are Pony! I have a picture of RD's Cutie Mark set as my DSi-XL's Homescreen Picture and my Xbox Dashboard contains Ponies.

My ringtone on my iPhone is pony

My iPad, iPhone and iPod touch is filled with pony

My whole family knows and none care except my 9 year old brother. (He makes fun of me)

    33. Clop clop clop? seriously guys?, I hope you are just joking around.

      ReplyDelete
    34. @cityflyer502 Well if you're looking for some awesome fandom, just ask =)

      ReplyDelete
    35. I'd say I'm a casual fan? I mean, I tab here every so often each day, check tumblr for pony blogs, read a few stories, etc... but I don't really let it intrude my daily life that much.

It's sort of just another thing I like to do. I haven't bought any merch, I haven't decked out anything I own with ponies (aside from a Pinkie Pie desktop wallpaper), and I rarely make references because no one else would get them.

That being said, I'm typing an essay for my English class about why Pinkamena is a scarier character than Twilight from Lesson Zero. Derp dee doo!

      ReplyDelete
    36. I don't say much till somepony else brings it up, but when they do...

Also, let's see, ponies on the mp3 player, both mobiles, toy ponies hanging off my monitor and hiding around the desk, icons/wallpaper/browser skins/screensaver on the windows laptop, and my login on the Linux one is L. Heartstrings, I got a second scarf so both me and my Pinkie plushie would have our own, I've got two shirts a wristband and some pins I wear fairly regularly, and I'm in the EqD comments at 2:30 in the morning. That should say everything everypony needs to know and more.

      ReplyDelete
    37. @General Mike I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

      ReplyDelete
    38. @The Numberman thanks! I might do more for the asklittlepip tumblr

      ReplyDelete
    39. Although I don't annoy EVERYONE, I do annoy some people, so I chose that one.

I would have picked toy collector if I actually had any money, as there are a few blind bag ponies I wouldn't mind having.

I definitely spend most of my free time these days on pony related things.

My desktop has it's share of ponies.

Didn't pick it, but that is a disturbingly high number for clop clop clop.

      ReplyDelete
    40. @Select Few the results are there, just scroll to the right

      ReplyDelete
    41. Glad to see that Seth is presenting something nice to the public by putting in wacking it to ponies as one of the check boxes.

    42. @General Mike I dunno, being man (or woman!) enough to willingly seek out and buy Pony toys seems pretty hardcore to me.

      - I spend all my time on Pony time.
      - Yep, every electronic device I use is ponified. Well, almost everything; one background is a Lakitu, another is Yahtzee (zero punctuation), but the rest is pony.
      - 1/3 of my music is now pony. ~120 songs. Dead serious.
      - Clop.

    47. i should also note my htc has 3 seperate alarms for waking up....alarm 1 winter wrap up, alarm2 equestria girls, alarm3 CMC dubstep

      ReplyDelete
    48. Hmm, I'm not sure if the poll created in Equestria Daily is considered deep enough, or is too specific. For example, the two options, "I annoy everyone with how obsessed I am" and "I don't talk about it much" if picked would simply contridicit each other. In addition, I feel that there's no option to tell how much or how little you put emphasis on what concept; like the amount of songs you play - how many do you download per say?

I'm sorry, I can't really participate in this because of how the poll is set up. :( Well maybe, but how so? I'm probably thinking too hard about this but I'm somewhat bothered.

      ReplyDelete
    49. Anyone that knows me well enough has probably heard me say, "I hate creative writing." I've never written a story, poem, song, etc. I'm not even good at writing creative essays. But this fandom has made me consider writing fiction twice now. My inaptitude ensured that neither fic was finished, but it says a lot about my obsession with ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    50. other for being into ponies when rainbow dash was called firefly :P

      ReplyDelete
    51. All the pony songs on my mp3/iTunes are most played. Fanfic making regarding ponies is challenging, yet self-gratifying. I'm also a clopper.

      Suck my cupcakes.

      ReplyDelete
    52. Electronically if I can ponify it then it'll be ponified, I've brought up being a brony to almost all of my friends - some of them have checked out the show themselves, I don't own any toys, I don't own any merch yet - that'll change pretty soon, I've got about 10 pony songs out of 1700, I do read fanfics, and I do not clop.

      ReplyDelete
    53. @naahdude
Which, to some people, makes it the silly, pointless hipster answer.

I don't spend all my free time on pony, but I spend too much of it. The only electronic device I own that I can ponify (my netbook) has been ponified. And I chose "other": I enjoy watching and re-watching the episodes, I adore the characters, and I love perusing the latest fanworks.

      ReplyDelete
    56. Erm... pretty much all of the above except for the ring tone and the episodes-and-little-else/silent-about-fandom answers. In other words, head over heels in every possible direction with PONIES, and won't shut up about them to family, friends, and anyone who is too slow to escape from my pony-related gushings. Have a couple hundred bucks worth of just -official- merch alone, have ponified almost everything, have 8+ gigs of pony music, am writing my first fanfic, and spend every waking second thinking about ponies. Clop clop clop.

      ReplyDelete
    57. Voted on other and spending free time on ponies. I'd have put the wallpaper bit, but only my lappy has a pony background (and it had to be good enough to overtake a 1993 McLaren F1 image from Forza 4!).

I guess other for me is trying to write a fic crossover... very slowly. I get easily distracted!

      ReplyDelete
    58. Blargh... My android does not approve of your poll... Will have to wait till I get home.

      ReplyDelete
    59. well, i have pony MP3's but i'm not exclusive to pony music. i read/write fanfiction but not much else. the only reason i have MLP toys is to show my support for the wonderful show because without the toys, we wouldn't have the show. i'd like a fourth season, so i buy some of the silly toys. i tell anyone interested but i don't annoy them. i also don't talk much anyway, people scare me. i don't spend all my free time pony, but most of it.

      *rant cut*

anyway, i've tried to clop to ponies and i really can't. i don't really know why. i still browse, if only for the humor potential in it. especially the fiction, oh my. such silliness trying so hard to be mature and raunchy.

      ReplyDelete
    60. Sweet Celestia, not this one again. The first was, well... Interesting, to say the least. Not many votes, either.

      ReplyDelete
    61. I mostly just watch the episodes and delve into the music and art every once and a while. I'm writing a story and making some art for practice, but it's entirely for selfish reasons.

I never talk about ponies outside of the internet, and rarely talk about it on the internet either.

(I made this Google account specifically for pony stuff and commenting on stories. Last time I said I don't pay much attention to ponies I got flak for the Google account.)

    62. Embrace the pony...become one with the pony.../)^3^(\

      ReplyDelete
    63. Littlepip I just noticed this but... What's going on with your horn?

      ReplyDelete
    64. lets see, well due to being a regular on Synchtube iv watched all the episodes a ridiculous amount of times, and I read fanfics on occasion (though at the moment less than I used too). however I don't actually talk about the show outside of the fandom, the most "pushing" of the show i will ever do is that iv recommended it to a few friends, some of them liked it others didn't and then we went off to play more Video games.

I do have a pony wallpaper, and a ton of pony images saved, but hell I have a ton of everything images saved.

I don't clop, find the very idea of it to be very very weird and concerning (seriously they are PONIES, not exactly something you should find a attractive) however I do sometimes look at R34 and read clopfics cause I do find them hilarious in just how ludicrous they are.

      ReplyDelete
    65. @Minalkra

because they are cartoon ponies and you just aren't that twisted.

      ReplyDelete
    66. I usually have at least one pony-related tab open.

Icons, background and screensaver are ponified on my computer and my phone has a pony background as well.

I enjoy GOOD pony music. I will not put songs on my mp3 player simply because they are related to pony.

I read a decent amount of fanfiction, and am currently following 3 series. I also follow many visual artists on DeviantArt and tumblr.

Clop pictures do next to nothing for me sexually but I do enjoy reading clopfics.

      ReplyDelete
    67. I fit about everyone of those, cept toy collector. Over half of fanfics I follow happen to be clopfics too. Clopptiy clop.

      ReplyDelete
    68. I like to show support for the things that I love and MLP:FiM is no exception. I have a few keyrings, a subtle t-shirt (I put the steampunk AJ sticker on my car and the welovefine.com sticker on my motorbike), and a few miniatures at my workstation. I don't try to convert people although it would be nice to know some fellow bronies. Also, every time you clop Hasbro releases another piece of inaccurate merchandise, so we have few of you to thank for that. Jerks.

      ReplyDelete
    69. A lot of anti-bronies apparently have complaints about this particular behavior.
"I annoy everyone with how obsessed I am"

      ReplyDelete
    72. Hm... Modern browsers allow me to have ~50-100 pony tabs open at all times and check them every now and then. Some thread on various forums, EqD, chans, deviants and especially fics I follow.

I also flood a little gaming community I'm a part of with lots and lots of pony stuff but it's always passive like links in irc channel's topic, poni pictures added to post on its forum etc.

That doesn't count as "being obsessed", right?

And stop clopping to ponies. Even wet mane ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    73. Every single one of those 1068 bronies who said '*clop* *clop* *clop*' can go burn in the hottest flames of hell. I don't think I've ever been more disgusted with Rule 34 than I am when MLP is involved.

      ReplyDelete
    74. As an old school fan and collector ( think My Pretty Pony old school, dearies. As in 1981. Been a fan since they FIRST came out. XP ), I've been driving friends and family nuts with talk of ponies for a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

I collect ponies from every generation ( almost 400 in the collection ), I draw ponies ( because I want to AND for commission orders ), I create customized ponies ( mostly insanely resculpted customs that SHOULD send me to the loony bin ), I watch the G1 and G4 / FiM cartoons, I do have the original G1 theme song AND the season 1 FiM theme song as ringtones on my Blackberry.

And because I have no problem talking about my collection to friends and coworkers, it seems to help others break out of their fear of collecting and loving stuff that they themselves love.

But clopping to ponies... dear God, no. MLP is not meant to be sexy in any way. Yipes!

(no don't take this post seriously. I'm just trying to be funny and failing.)

      ReplyDelete
    77. Easier to say what I didn't check.

      >My ring tone is pony
      Nope, at least not currently.

      >My mp3 player is filled with pony
It has a few, mostly dubstep. But, really, it's mostly a random range of non-pony including a ton of Big Band music.

      >I don't talk about it much
My co-workers wish this were true :)

      >I silently watch episodes and not much else
I vocally watch episodes. My son watches them quite often too, his current favorite is Sisterhoof Social and those annoying "pony goes crazy" episodes.

      >Other
I actually checked this one. Does running a MLP fanfiction fan website put me in a different category?

      ReplyDelete
    78. People wondering why there are votes for 'clopclopclop'... come on, is it that hard to understand?

Point one... humans have a libido.

Two... sexyness is, for a very big part, in the eyes. Same reason anime chicks are so popular: big, expressive eyes with long lashes.

It's almost the oldest trick in the book. How do you make any cartoon character more attractive? Big eyes, long lashes. The artists behind Betty Boop already had this figured out.

Add to that that these ponies are very likable characters and that they have pretty awesome voices, it's not too hard to understand that some people might like them enough to seriously check the 'clopclopclop' option in this poll.

I didn't by the way. Raunchyness takes away from the cuteness for me. But I can easily understand why someone would.

      ReplyDelete
    79. Here's the thing with this poll and the clop option; it's really biased.

I love this show and visit EQD every day, so I'm full on brony and proud. I know at least four other people that like the show and consider themselves bronies too, but none of them are core enough to visit EQD. I chat with them every weekend about the new episode and show them a few things that I thought were really cool from here, but it's all casual because they treat it just like any other good show.

They definitely do not clop. They also definitely would not vote in this poll because they wouldn't even know it existed. Cloppers will, though, because they're deep enough in the fandom that they check here constantly. Because of this, the actual percentage of bronies that clop will likely be MUCH lower than the polls say.

Granted, my small example can't be extended out to an entire community with complete accuracy, but the logic remains sound. A higher percentage of cloppers will vote in this poll than percentage of bronies because more cloppers are likely to see this.

Oh and if you cared, I don't clop but I don't care if others do it as long as they keep their pics to themselves. I don't want to see it and as long as that's respected, we're cool.

      ReplyDelete
    80. Why is there no option for fanfics because that's pretty much the only thing i do :P

      ReplyDelete
    81. I also miss the option for "avid fanfiction reader", because that would describe me the most. Music and other stuff is fine, but I mainly check this page for fanfiction updates and pony news. I don't even care that much for the episodes ^^

    83. I derped, curse the lack of an edit function.

I voted for ponied devices, toy collector (as I own a few things) and other.

Ponies don't take up all my time but they are part of my browsing. I don't annoy people with things though I exchange links occasionally with others who like it and I read things though I read very quickly so it doesn't take me too long.

I'm not sure all those options are showing us in the best light though, perhaps some could be rephrased?

      ReplyDelete
    84. I would have ticked 'toy collector' but the amount of toys actually available in the UK, without importing, is extremely limited. For example: in the Hasbro shop itself. In the US, 117 MLP items, 42 of which are G4. In the UK, there are 25 MLP items, 7 of which are G4. Not to mention the fact that the broadcaster's never shown any episodes from Suited for Success onwards, I think it's just going to end up getting cancelled over here.

      ReplyDelete
    85. This poll lacks lots of options! :(

      ReplyDelete
    86. It's been mentioned before, but: this poll needs additional options for reading and writing fan fiction.

      ReplyDelete
    87. Write clop, read clop, clop clop clop.

      ReplyDelete
    88. I'm an old-timer, but I've just recently gotten into the fandom enough to join ED. I still have one of my G1 ponies from when I was a tiny tot, and now that it's gift-shopping season, I can buy a few figurines without people staring at me. :3 I'm also tempted to order one of Hasbro's blank ponies so I can have a 3D version of my OC.

Unless you get it during the Christmas shopping season, so you can pass it off as being for your daughter/niece/cousin/etc.

    90. If you've chosen option 1, 3 or 9, you should really stop for a moment and think about your priorities in life.

      ReplyDelete
    91. I think by now I'm pretty obsessed, surprising since I didn't join the herd until Oct.

      ReplyDelete
    92. I watch the episodes, buy the toys for my two girls, and read a few fanfics here and there. What I really like doing, however, rebuilding Equestria and all the ponies in D&D. Fun Fact: Pinkie Pie's crazy fourth-wall-breaking movement and future predicting can easily be explained with psionics.

      ReplyDelete
    93. My harddrive is getting fuller and fuller of pony pics! Potentially even moreso than the show itself, I love reading comics and looking at LOL-type pics. I really enjoy visiting the brony memebase site on a regular basis. I stay away from fanfic, though I'm interested in reading Past Sins. I've bought two shirts and some stickers thus far (one of which I've put on my laptop, that's definitely helped in me "coming out" as a brony), and earned a Cheerilee McDonald's figurine as payment for a paint job (painting a small handheld-type item). I'd buy Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie figurines if I could afford them.

    94. Oh get over it, people. You don't have any right at all to be judging other bronies based on what they voted. That's just stupid. Why should you even care what others do?! It doesn't effect you in the slightest of ways.

      ReplyDelete
    101. Haha, I remember this poll too, over 30% picked clop that day, good times.

Although I am seeing a lot of negativity towards the bronies who clop in the comments here as I skim through. You know it always perplexes me, how is it so hard to just think "Hey, that guy enjoys something I do not, and as long as it isn't hurting anyone then that's fine by me, I shall look the other way" Seems like a really easy mind set to adapt to me. But apparently the frothing rage R34 gives to people is too much for them to contain calmly, ah well.

And uh, beyond that I guess I am an avid fan. My mp3 player is filled with pony mixes, backgrounds have pony wallpaper and... that's it? This is a rather incomplete poll, but I guess it's called vintage for a reason haha.

we don't want to be associated with people who fap to cartoon horses...

cause you know it makes us all look all bad like

      ReplyDelete
    103. @Basharoonskis Yeah, it really annoys me seeing all these comments that are so hateful towards cloppers. It surprises me the double standard a lot of bronies live by when it comes to love and toleration.

      ReplyDelete
    104. I really don't get why people hate people who Clop/fap. I mean seriously Its there own business.
I don't clop, but I know some people who do and they still have my respect.

Whatever happen to the love and tolerance? You guys are turning into the trolls we hate! You are literally telling people to burn in hell because of something you don't like.

      I'M Ashamed of you guys!

    105. @Mojo

you want to know what makes us look bad? Not following love and tolerance. You suppose to not care what other people think and just ignore them.

      ReplyDelete
    106. I don't 'clop' and, despite Darkfoxx's explanation, still don't understand why people do (unless it's anthropomorphized quite a bit, at which point to me it's not really pony any more, but furry). The only thing that bothers me about it, though, is if anyone stumbles across rule 34 pony fanworks and think all bronies are into 'clopping'. (Well, and 'clopping' to the CMCs or similarly-aged characters; that's just plain wrong.)

And I suppose now's a good time to mention that I find the use of the term 'clop' to be amusing in and of itself, since it's supposed to be the sound of a hoof striking something hard.

      ReplyDelete
    107. @Mojo
Just because he enjoys fanfic but NOT the episodes?

About clopping, another "lapse in the tolerance and love", uh?...The percentage is unexpected indeed, but c'mon, there's need to whine about that?
Personally, I don't, but I respect the ones who do so, as long as they keep the pics for themselves.

      ReplyDelete
    110. Dunno why people care what people clop too. I personally don't give a damn what anyone does to get off and I see no harm nor wrong in it.

It's of course okay to feel disgusted, but I really don't think you guys should really get upset or angered by it. Just chill~

      ReplyDelete
    111. I think people care a little too much about stuff that doesn't really affect them in any shape or form. I sincerely doubt that many people would inadvertently come across clop stuff.

On another note, look at those sexy, sexy statistics guys (and gals), I'm a little surprised that Toy Collection is only pulling in 10% of the vote. I wonder how far that would jump if it was Merch (or Official Merch) instead. That would give a reasonable idea of how much the Brony community supports the show.

Maybe the next poll should be along the lines of 'how much official merchandise do you own' or something. Mmm statistics...

      ReplyDelete
    112. I run a youtube channel that is solely dedicated to 1080p MLP full episodes and songs. What category does that put me under?

      ReplyDelete
    113. I only learned about Bronies 11 days ago, somehow and got hooked. My bro came down and watched a few episodes with me and then he got hooked as well. Our mom was kind of in an "oh god, what's happening to my kids" mode and my dad didn't really care. I have no intention to buy the toys, because I do not like them much, they're too different from the show, but I got two "20% cooler" t-shirts and will totally wear them in public. I'm hoping to get that Fluttershy t-shirt as well, to further express my pony love.

I've read some of the comics and laughed, but have never been big into reading fanfiction and probably will never be, but there is great music to be found.

      ReplyDelete
    114. I don't clop to ponies, ponies are too quadrupedal for such things. However, ponies are avatars of positive emotions, and good loving sex is way up there on the "causes positive emotions" scale. And because this fandom is crazy and loves to brutally subverting /everything/ the opposite is also true.

Also, Rule 34 doesn't have to make sense. Best either be the kind to embrace it or not care, because it's not gonna go away, and squabbling over it only makes it more visible.

      ReplyDelete
    116. Let's see... I spend quite a bit of my free time doing pony related things, but not all. I check Equestria Daily multiple times a day, I love fan animations, comics, games and music, and I've watched every episode at least twice (and the season 1 episodes at least 4 times each, my favorites getting much more views that that). The background on my desktop is obviously pony, while the background on my laptop (which I use at college) is very subtle pony, and on a ton of sites with comment systems, my avatar is a pony.

I don’t talk about it very much outside of the internet, though. My family knows I watch it and that’s about it. I have no need to annoy people about it.

      ReplyDelete
    117. Each person has their own kind of porn. So what if I'd rather get off to ponies instead of humans?

      ReplyDelete
    118. I feel sick at the thought of how many people immediately shun anyone in the clop crowd.

I understand that it "makes us look bad" but the thought of pristine and world-over acceptance for bronies is just fantasy and I've worked very hard to keep myself sane enough to know that, despite all my love for the show, and all wishes that it could be real someday, or any other pony-related dreams...

If you are upset at people who judge bronies for their personal interests, and then turn around and do the same thing yourself...well, yeah, there isn't really an end to that sentence.

      ReplyDelete
    119. ...and if I'm to be considered a hypocrite because I'm speaking against clop-haters...like, if that's ACTUALLY how it works? Whatever. So bet it, I guess. I'm just one dude in this big crazy thing.

    120. I really only bring it up if anyone asks, or when I'm with close friends. Other than that, I'm relatively quiet about myself.
BUT pretty much all of my free time is taken up by watching pony videos on YouTube and screencapping random moments for captioning or just for the sake of capturing it :3

      ReplyDelete
    121. Let me reiterate.
If you clop, I don't care. Whatever it is, really, I don't care. I think it's more of a hate towards the people who make the clopping material. Those who enjoy it are just encouraging it and making bronies as a whole (or 30%, either way, makes us) look bad.

Double standards are the ultimate paradox.
"I don't care what people clop to. I love and tolerate everyone. Those people who are free to express their opinions are going to get berated by me for expressing their opinions about others' opinions."
Really, people, stop throwing this double standard shit around.

    122. Found ponies 3 weeks ago. Since, I've rewatched all the eps 3 times (I have no life) and read a lot of fics. And found fan music. But meh, it got me over my depression (along with Skyrim) so I don't feel bad.

      ReplyDelete
    123. I personally am attracted to these specific cartoon ponies and I'm pretty upfront about it on here as I'm sure some have noticed.

That being said, I love the show for what it is and would watch it regardless. Wonderful characters, sweet friendships, some cool action and smooth animation. There's so much to love.

I tend to think of it thusly:

Imagine that you're attracted to a specific actress.... lets say Scarlett Johanson for the sake of this example. You think she's hot and maybe you even fantasize about her but that doesn't mean you don't like her films either. So, if you see LOST IN TRANSLATION you can genuinely love that movie AND think about her sexually AT THE SAME TIME.

      ReplyDelete
    124. Well, I choose other, because in some way I'm a fan type of all of them *except toy collector* and I enjoy all the forms of art: music, paintings, digital media, flash animations, etc., oh and fanfics, can't forget the fanfics.

Reason being I'm not a toy collector: hasbro doesn't get it right and the custom ponies and plushies run up to what between $100 and $5,000 so I haven't bought them yet.

At any rate, this fandom has grown on me for a little over a year now, and I can't wait to see what the future brings for the bronies.

And THANK YOU SETH!! I love littlepip.

There's something wrong with you if you get off on cartoon horses. The cutesy art where they hug and at most kiss each other on the cheek (the ask pinkie pie and fluttershy tumblr thing) is fine, but when you start writing stories and drawing art depicting adult themes with characters from a children's show which are horses, THIS IS NOT A CASE OF NOT LIKING WHAT YOU LIKE, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU.

Jesus Christ, it is getting more and more difficult for me to be a part of this fandom every day. I'm saddened beyond words that even in the brony community there are people who don't understand art, creativity, and personal freedoms and orientations.

But I'm also thankful beyond words it won't be hard for me to make sure I never have to be near those people (more like wolves in sheeps' clothing) in real life.

    150. I try to watch the show whenever I can. I haven't been a brony since the very beginning, but I'm still a die hard one. I look for new fan material to use from episodes and I love to think up pony parodies to popular stuff.

      ReplyDelete
    151. Hmmm, I too was a bit shocked by how many ticked the "clop" box. On the other hand, I don't really find it very surprising.

Some others have said it better than I can, but I don't think many people here who clicked clop clop clop are actually turned on by ponies, but more about their personalities and the fact they have huge eyes that work in tandem with fantastic facial expressions that give a sense of soul to the character.

I'm sure most bronies have a particular character they most closely associate themselves with. I'm sure most bronies who love Twilight would love to have a girlfriend with that same type of personality.

Sexual attraction is a weird thing that's often misunderstood, but I'm sure most people here can agree that sexual attraction is not just visually based. If it was, you wouldn't see instances of that smoking hot chick with that ugly dude.

So in the end, I don't find it particularly surprising some people are sexually attracted to the characters in the show.

      ReplyDelete
    152. The R34 could at least be humanized... If it's seriously just their personalities, it shouldn't matter to ya guys if they were humanized. At least that way, we can confidently say we don't watch pony porn, because we technically don't.

Anyway, I'm going to be a bit more tolerant of this than I think I should. I just think people shouldn't say it out loud. People judge you--- no, all of us that way, like it or not. You're kinda harming us. Yeah, this can end up being seen by a non-brony who'll from then on be disgusted at us. But more important is fellow bronies seeing this and just completely lose their confidence in the fandom. I'm one example. I used to be very proud of this fandom. I started denying I'm a brony among my friends.

And for the way you word it, some of you say as if it's weird and unnatural for people to be disgusted by the fact that people watch porn of ponies from a little girls' show. Not important whether it's actually bad or not. It's that it sounds bad. Really sick. It always will. You just gonna have to understand that.

      ReplyDelete
    153. Meh, I'm done with this fandom now. Not the show or the great and creative things that come out because of it; but this community... fuck it. It's dead to me now. Be happy bronies; I'm done.

      ReplyDelete
    154. @DeRockProject
You sort of have a point, and I do agree with a couple things you said, but let me present my side of the argument once more.

Now I do understand that finding ponies sexually attractive is weird, it's definitely... different, I'm just saying some people should be more tolerant about it than they are, and especially should stop dismissing people who enjoy it right away, that's what grates on me the most. As I said before, I don't see why it's so hard to look the other way as long as it's hurting nobody, but that's just me I guess.

Now with that being said, there will for sure be some bronies who are turned off by the mention of R34, that's extremely apparent in this comment section, and if they decide to leave the entire fandom because it exists then... well good riddance. I feel bad for them as they are missing out on something truly special here because they couldn't take the fact that people have differing interests. Oh well.

However, I do agree with your point about being vocal about said interest, to a degree. Shoving your fetishes in other people's faces is no fun for anyone, be it ponies or whatever. There are places for it, FiM Chan or your own personal blog or anything that allows this kind of content sharing and interaction, I completely agree with that. I don't agree, however, with your point of not saying it out loud. As I said above, there are places where it can be discussed and places where it can't, but don't expect the guys who partake in R34 to just be silent and treat it as taboo, it'll only make you and them angry.

And finally, we are watching "pony" porn, and although I do kind of wish it wasn't phrased like that, there can't really be another way lol. If it was just their personalities I'm pretty sure it would be strictly humanized but man, it just ain't haha. I'll also quickly add here that we bronies who indulge in R34 are not monsters, I'd like to think I'm a pretty nice guy and I know some really swell dudes who enjoy clopping now and then, it is really no big deal, I feel kind of bad myself blowing it up like this but some things I suppose need to be said so people can come to an understanding.

So there are my thoughts on the matter, hope I didn't come across as a douche at any point as I understand it's fairly easy to do so through text. Also, this wasn't just a reply to you specifically so much as it was a reply to everyone in this section, can't we all just get along no matter what we find sexually appealing? It's such a small part of who we are as people and as a fandom.

      ReplyDelete

I know I haven't commented much on here (and I know you and I don't know each other). I realize now I was enjoying MLP much, much more before I even bothered to read comments on EqD, let alone comment myself. I've felt like twitchy, angry shit all day with pains in my gut.

With so many people discriminating against artists, writers, and their audiences, based on ignorance, bias, and just plain making shit up...I'm starting to feel like I can't call myself a brony. Not if people like that go by that term.

      ReplyDelete
    157. @Gareth Infinity

Totally agree bro. Thanks for posting that before I head out tonight, I appreciated reading it.

The sad thing is so called "clopping" used to be such a very small part of my love of the fandom anyhow. I would say the ratio of "sexy or suggestive" pony stuff I viewed or read was about 5 percent tops of all the pony stuff I enjoyed.

But, I have a dumb ass personality and I jump to the defense of anyone's right to make or enjoy art or whatever else they like with far too much gusto because it feels like there is a constant stream of hate towards it. You know? But, I think maybe both of us will be happier when we stop posting and reading here.

    158. @DJB123

      See?! See what I mean?!
...Actually I feel like this is kinda my fault. Dunno.

      @Basharoonskis

      Na don't worry, you're cool.

I know you want people to be more tolerable, but it's just human nature. No matter what, you can't even hope to change human nature. Not unless you start something huge.

I'd like to say that to some people, the brony fandom actually isn't that great. I used to love the fandom, and even now it's truly something special. It's produces a sizable amount of entertainment for me, and it's the cause for pretty much all my stress. Never in my life have I been so concerned of a fandom's appearance.

But I can say anyone leaving is not missing out on anything. I mean, they already experienced it. What exactly did they miss out on? They saw it and they just saw that it's not for them. That's just all there is to it.

I know what you think about what I said that those people have to hide their fetishes no matter what for the sake of the fandom. But it's just culture. Unless you want to go out there and change it, you're just going to have to either adhere to it or get mocked at for going against it. No one made the world like that, and you're just going to have to choose one or the other.

I know you're not monsters. I can't change that you'll be seen as such anyway. I personally think it'll be less stressful if you just hide it. We all have something a bit fucked up, and I find it much easier to just hide mine.

Also, this is going to be harsh. Cloppers are the main reason this fandom is worse off than it should be. I go to an anti-brony club, and their main insult to bronies is the clopping. That's... just something people should think about. Yeah? You gave them a lot of fuel. They can easily convert normal people to brony hating by just mentioning that one subject.

Btw. Less people have a pony ringtone than clop. What's with that? Maybe I'll see to getting a pony ringtone! XD

To answer the question, I'm the kind of brony that watches the seasons multiple times without being fed up of them. I grasp onto the lessons provided at the end, and honestly, I get emotional during the episodes (no joke, Ikr?), no matter how many times I've watched them over and over again. It just gets to me! I also learn all the songs by heart and sing 'n' whistle them everyday non-stop, including "Find a pet" (with the dialogues XD). Though there's a lot of "Brony Hatred" around these days, don't despair, ladies and gentlemen. I always keep one concept in mind: "Love & Tolerance" in a way of saying it, yes. With it, I remain calm in situations that would have people pitted against me in being a brony and watching My Little Pony. But, by showing no hatred whatsoever and a strong desire to love and respect others and the thoughts of others, I see those that bash me either become curious and see what I see, or respect me back! It's important to show Love, especially. Stay strong, my fellow brony friends, and take care!
Keep in mind that friendship is indeed a "magical" thing, if I may say so myself, since I've seen its effects in the works.
