General Information
- It is acceptable to submit your own work, don't be bashful! If we don't know about your awesome creation we can't post about it.
- We receive many emails a day from a variety of sources. If you don't receive an email from us in response to your submission, please don't assume we ignored you. Not all messages will receive replies!
- Patience! While we do queue a lot of things for the blog it doesn't mean they will be posted instantly. Some things submitted may take up to a week or more to be posted, especially in the case of compilations.
- Generally, it's best to avoid things that are over 2 Weeks Old, especially on Youtube. Chances are it has already been posted or reviewed over that age.
Fanfiction
- Please read the rules before submitting! They have been updated. Stories that do not follow them will be deleted.
- Head on over to the Submission Form to send your NEW story in for review.
- Story UPDATES should be sent to [email protected], with a link to the story on Equestria Daily, and the link to your new chapter with the number included. Include STORY UPDATE in the email subject line.

Pictures and Comics
Generally everything is allowed. Try to preface your email with COMIC or ART. Also try to include in your email the source link of the picture or comic if you can, preferably from DeviantArt if that is an option.

Plushies, Crafts, Cosplay, Customs
In regards to plushie, craft, and custom submissions, please preface your emails with either Plushie, Craft, Custom, or Cosplay when submitting. Please provide a source link with your email if you can, preferably from DeviantArt.
- Customs are created from modified official merchandise. If your piece falls under this criteria, please send it in with the Custom tag in the subject line.
- Crafts extend to everything outside of modified merchandise and plushies. If your piece fits that criteria, please send it in with the Craft tag in the subject line.
- Plushies include everything from standard plushies, needle felt, crotchet, ect. If your piece fits this criteria, please send it in with the Plushie tag in the subject line.
- Cosplay is handled a bit differently, but feel free to send in pictures of people dressed as ponies regardless.
- When submitting, try to submit only clear and well lit pictures. Blurry and dim pictures detract from your piece and may end up in it being rejected despite the quality of the work.
- Please try to submit pictures that don't have watermarks on them. If you want to keep a watermarked image on your official gallery that is fine, but please include with your submission a copy of the non-watermarked image.

These will end up in the media section of the blog. (New: For albums, see this post) - No porn

- (New!) Music MUST include a genre! (TEMPLATE: Vocal / Instrumental / Remix - Genre)

However, I noticed that every category of help (videos, media etc) has a bulletpoint saying that you may not get a reply if it doesn't get through, EXCEPT for fanfics. Is this just an error, or do they really reply to every single fanfic submitted?

So i am going to have to work around only the recognized ones and twist characters that we know already to have alternative egos? This just made my job a lot harder for a beginning writer

ReplyDeleteI feel that videos and PMVs should get replies whether it is a yes or no. Drawfriends are up daily, if not more than that, and with plenty of pics, but you can go days without PMVs, and even then only 3 at a time. I can tell you from experience the wait for any kind of reply before the next PMV/Simple PMV is agonizing.

I sent my first email to this mailaddress from my derpymail account (I know :P) and I didn't receive an answer.
Being a patient person I didn't mind it and just thought it was due to business on your end.
Now I created some new art, and wanted to submit that as well, and I get a blocked message that the admins have blocked my email account as spammer!
Why? I'm not a spammer, I'm just a guy who likes MLP:FiM and has some art related to it that I want to share with a bigger audience.
Whether this is or isn't your fault, don't worry, I'm not mad or anything like that. I just wanted to mention that I was disappointed with the way that was handled.
If derpymail for some reason is blocked, please let me know and I'll use a more common email address like gmail or hotmail.

Just letting you know that's not really fair to everyone else, and it really feels like a punch in the gut to see the more popular artist get showcased and for others to wait around to see if their stuff EVER gets posted. I know the queue can get big, but if you guys show case stuff that's been uploaded 13 hours or less ago, over stuff that was submitted to you a week ago, you guys need to step back and see if that's really fair to everyone else.

ReplyDeleteI have some interesting news to relay. Our own Tara Strong, the wonderful lady who provides Twilight her voice as well as so many other characters is currently in the lead for a Shorty Award for Actress. The lead is relatively slim, though at 58 votes ahead of Selena Gomez.
Well, Ami Havivy and I have teamed up to help Tara win, but, we cannot do this alone, bronies. It takes a true brony to vote for Tara. So, we need YOU as well. It only takes a moment of your time and is totally optional.

So today, after watching the new SWAG.MOV vid (which was wonderful btw) it has come to my attention that there has been an awful rumor about the possible death of Lauren Faust that apparently happened today. I have been looking into this rumor and nopony knows what to make of this rumor. If maybe you, Equestria Daily, could look into this and please clarify on what is fact and what is fiction, this would be wonderful. I and the rest of the pony fandom are quite worried for her safety :')

ReplyDelete@Rinzler I have some discrepancies with your argument. My first opinion would be that Cupcakes is not horror but just one massive gorefest, as you so clearly realize. The difference between HORROR and GORE is that horror is actually scary, which Cupcakes was not. We had a clear image of the antagonist here, and the only tension the story had was "Oh, I wonder what method Pinkie will use to dismember Rainbow Dash next."
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand we have "A Fleeting Light in the Darkness", which uses so many elements to give you an atmosphere that can be downright terrifying. The best part of it all is that the thing causing all this is shrouded in complete mystery. As Stephen King believed, horror should prey upon the readers imagination. If you give the audience a clearly defined antagonist, though, you take away all that potential.
I should also mention that "A Fleeting Light in the Darkness" doesn't use a drop of gore but still manages to terrify.
My second problem: Cupcakes being the only one of it's kind. That's just poor research there. Check out Sweet Apple Massacre or The Rainbow Factory.
Third: Shipping. Fandoms, especially this one, automatically jump to the conclusion that any fanfic written that has romance between the characters is a slobbering kiss-fest, if not a downright orgy. This isn't the case though. A shipping story doesn't have to go any further than the occasional blushing or peck on the cheek. You'll also notice that EQD does not condone hardcore shipping either.
To wrap things up, gore is most commonly used to make a story that would normally be boring seem more exciting. That's not to say that a good story can't use gore; in fact, it could make an already awesome story even better. But when it is used GRATUITOUSLY is when we have to start drawing the line. And this goes for Shipping as well.
The truth of the matter is that what can be uploaded to this site is up to the discretion of those who created it. This doesn't just go for EQD, but any publishing company. Yes you worked for so long on that story of yours, but chances are that if it could pass the rigorous guidelines that EQD has set in place, people have already heard about it.
