If I'm correct, you would automatically drink 8 times in each episode, 7 times in just the theme song itself.

I useally play the "dat ass" drinking game. Everytime you see plot you take a shot of Jack. But I might try this since it might be better on my liver.

If I may make a suggestion:
I know that not all of the mane 6 are represented here, but I think that it would be a little more interesting if one were to drink the cocktail associated with the character and the rule instead of just the Rainbow Dash drink.

Most of these are fairly episode specific and/or subject to interpretation (what is a "famous" quote, what exactly constitutes an "external reference", does BGM count as "music", etc.)...except for the last one...
The last one will cause some hangovers in brony nation, no matter what episode is watched, mark my words...

I prefer simple drinking games myself, 'cause it's easier to remember the rules even after an hour or two.
Whenever someone uses the words "friend" or "friendship," take a shot. Then either say "Friendship is magic!" or finish your drink.

Too many rules. It would be more appropriate to have one rule assigned to each of the mane cast.
When twilight uses magic or says "Dear Princess Celestia".
When Pinkie throws a party or sings.
When Rarity flips her hair or gives fashion advice.
When Applejack says Yeehaw or Sugercube.
When Fluttershy gets mad or does anything painfully adorable.
When Rainbow Dash says awesome, cool, or WonderBolts.
And this is coming from a brony that doesn't drink.

That link is just awful. Whoever came up with that must not have tried even HALF of those.
To make a drink recipe you need first (and most importantly) percentages/ratio of ingredients, second you need some sort of taste palate (and not just random ingredients based on character personality), third you need to have respect for quality liquor. For example, suggesting debasing amaretto with freaking TABASCO SAUCE, or diluting the overpriced Hpnotiq with TONIC WATER is just...blegh. Amateur. I feel bad for anypony who has actually tried these recipes.
Every episode would get you waster, but Swarm of the Century would be suicide.

I can personally testify to how fucking awesome Pinkie Pie's Raspberry Cream Pie and Luna's Blue Cosmo are. Celestia's Mimosa Sunrise is good but it's just a Mimosa with grenadine. Sure is purrty, though. But I think that's the whole point.

Half of those rules are too broad, and some are far too narrow.
Fluttershy only ever rages once, and it should be changed to 'Whenever a pony snaps/has a mental break-down.'
And the G3 episode has five songs alone, including the opening and ending.
And we're missing a rule about every time Fluttershy fawns over an animal/mytho.
I don't know about you guys but I'm going to have fun watching a MLP: FIM marathon while doing this.

I don't know. The last time I mixed MLP and drinking, the results weren't so magical.
My favorite rule: drink whenever one pony knocks another pony (or Spike) offscreen. Try it sometime.

I'm 13 and what is this?
I converted 4 people to bronies with my drinking game. Anyone is willing to play the game at a drinking party.
My rules are very simple.
1) Anytime the word Pony is said you take a drink.
2) Anytime they burst into song you take 3 drinks
3) Theme song doesn't count for anything.
You get about 7-15 drinks per episode (not shots, sips of your drink). You can do 2-3 episodes before you get too drunk if you start sober.
I added the 'drink for a song' part since the songs can be the most awkward part of the show for a new person to sit through. But instead when they hear a song they just laugh and are busy drinking to complain they are listening to a song about dresses :D

I'm not sure if everypony is including the theme song to the rules...You can if you really want to find yourself face down on the floor before you finish the pilot episodes. Good luck with it though! :3 All my money to the one who makes it past Boast Busters. We only lasted to episode 5.

Someone needs to make a web page where you click a button and a random number generator decides an episode for you and then plays it. It'd be more fun that way. (And yes, one could just do this on their own, but first of all I'm lazy and second of all I'm pretty sure after a while I'd be incapable of doing much more than clicking a button.)
