ReplyDeletePeople don't like Nyx for the same reason they don't like Justin Bieber. Nyx is just your average OC of a formula that speaks of success every time for the writing genre (for music it's pop and for writing it's redemption stories, we humans just seem to be sucker for certain things) yet she gets all this attention while not deserving it any more (nor any less mind you, it's still an oki character) than other OC characters. She was the ONLY OC character that got to be along in the poll for socks back when that was so don't tell me she isn't getting any special treatment.

ReplyDeleteNyx is merely a Nightmare Moon amnesia reset. Literally, wipe NMM's mind, treat her with kindness, then restore it, and see what brews.
It's a fairly legitimate and predictable, but highly desirable, path to take with a canon character, in a non canon manner. I honestly don't even consider Nyx to be 100% OC. She's part OC, but not full.
I'm quite frankly, sick of all the OC hate. I've not made any OCs, but I for one respect the creativity of this fandom. Without the creativity, this fandom would NEVER have reached it's level of popularity. Some of the stories I really like have canon characters, some of the stories I like have OC characters.
It's the haters that gotta hate who sit there and say, we don't want that kind of creativity, take it home. We only want rehashes of the same mane 6 and maybe a couple BG characters.
I hereby call out ALL the OC haters who won't stop complaining about it as trolls.

There is a horse breed called Arabian but as far as I can tell no other horse breeds stood out as being middle eastern. None of the Pony breeds really stood out as middle eastern. There is way to many breeds for me to research each one that doesn't have a country in the name. By chance I did happen to find a pony breed that originates from Sudan particularly the Darfur region.

ReplyDeleteI'm well aware of what she's supposed to be. It doesn't change the fact that I think black furred OCs are fugly. Nightmare Moon was ugly, too, but she's cannon, so I find it easier to deal with.
Also, she is most definitely an OC. I don't recall Nightmare Moon/Luna ever being designated as separate entities in an episode. It's fannon that NM is a completely separate soul/pony/whatever, thus her "filly form" is a completely ORIGINAL CHARACTER.
I don't even want to know what the stupid "dragon eyes" shit is all about either. That little (complete OC fannon) factoid just made my dislike much stronger.

ReplyDeleteLol, well there isn't an easy way to write a long "I" in Arabic. I was using Yuri's spelling, although توايليت might sound better if spoken. I just checked this, if you input my spelling into google translate, it comes up as "Twilight" exactly.

Like an Anon below my other post said, it's folks like you expecting people to know who the hell this OC is that pissed me off and biased me against her in the first place. If I want OC ponies outside of the characters EVERYONE knows and loves (and sometimes I do), I'll read fanfics.

ReplyDeleteYou don't have to be so negative! I get you don't like her, but really... Luna is an OC by your definition. Her entire personality is fan created. Nyx is Nightmare Moon, reincarnated, but given a chance to develop normally for a few months before regaining her memories.
Luna and Nyx are EQUAL in terms of OCness based on these concepts. Course, I love fanon Luna, and and I love the way Nightmare Moon was handled in Past Sins.
You don't, and I accept that, but you CAN'T tell others to keep it to themselves. This is Seth's blog, and the fans love it. Use your scroll wheel. it's what it's for.
You should not be bringing hate into this place and ruining it for everyone else. This is a place for friendly sharing.
