ReplyDeleteI thought that was one of the best fics I've ever read -- everybody was character, the description was effective but non-intrusive, the story was sweet and funny, and it was well edited and proofread.
ReplyDeleteThat said, the incorrect use of the word "alighted" bothered me a bit. I wish the author would correct this, as it is really the only complaint that I have about this story.
Why does the thought of Luna playing matchmaker sound about a trouble-free as the idea of Urd playing matchmaker?

ReplyDeleteVery well done. I love the way you turn a phrase, especially the "cold war" metaphor.
ReplyDeleteThere were a few things that could have used improvement, though. First, I felt you went a touch purple in describing Fluttershy's gown. "Incomprehensible pattern of beautiful randomness" is not a very graceful phrase.
The climax felt rushed. It was pretty much all over in a couple of paragraphs, with most of the action taking place "offscreen".
Putting Fluttershy in a situation where she would use the Stare is a great way to show Mac her inner strength. However, it felt vastly out of character for her to then resort to violence and drive the timberwolves off with further threats. The Stare has always been depicted as enforcing what the target already knows they should do. I'd have preferred to watch her back off the entire pack by herself rather than beat them up.
OMG. I Loved it. Very well written. Great story line.
