ReplyDeletewoah :D cool :D you have fan-made music to your epic fic :D awesome :D
and a pretty good one too :D
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDeleteI find it amazing that this series now has fan-made music, but still doesn't have original cover art (yes, I will never shut up about this, until it gets corrected)
It's a pretty good story. :D
ReplyDeleteWell... I must say that answers my questions about sex in that story :P
ReplyDeleteAnd it's so nice that the update came the one day I'm home to repack and to out to the wilds in few hours :D
So Octavia will soon figure out things and her training/indoctrination as a Thor will begin.
Pinkie and the Cakes will probably be evacuated to Canterlot by Nightcnter... with few milf jokes and a threesome suggestions no doubt.
AJ and Twilight are now officially in Vanguard's squad... which happened a little bit off screen and slightly too fast for my taste.
But Applejack's lie and Terrato's lets say inspection were interesting, if not a little bit predictable. Poor AJ, either she keeps lying and becomes separated from her element potentially causing harm to others or she will tell the truth and break Twilight's heart... or get her angry... in both cases the harmony between the two ill be broken.
And Vanguard's wolven nose saves the day... sort of... now all they have to do is find and save RD and Scarlet.
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDelete>Well... I must say that answers my questions about sex in that story
As I expected, there was a Sexy Discretion Shot, EQD doesn't allow X rated content you know
>with a few milf jokes and a threesome suggestions no doubt.
it wouldn't be Nightcanter if there weren't any, although, for all of her not-so-subtle flirting, she never seems to get laid, possibly because she keeps going after those who aren't interested
inb4 Vanguard hooks up with her and that's what brings Twilight and AJ back together: a common opponent
> which happened a little bit off screen and slightly too fast for my taste.
hmm, really? I thought it was fine, though there was something else which I though was not so good though I can't remember it now
> Poor AJ, either she keeps lying and becomes separated from her element potentially causing harm to others or she will tell the truth and break Twilight's heart... or get her angry... in both cases the harmony between the two will be broken.
gotta love catch-22's
>now all they have to do is find and save RD and Scarlet.
in my opinion Black Rose setting up a hundred decoys made it obvious that it was her, it would have probably been easier to just beef up the story of them racing, Scarlet winning, him killing Rainbow then fleeing, totally believable given their relationship, and what happened last time with Overcast
then again Black Rose probably wants them going after Scarlet and Rainbow, in order to start up/continue whatever plans she has for them
> “I’m telling you, that cellar you have over there is disrupting this entire farm’s ley network, especially the ones that affect fortune,” Copper Mane insisted. “So long as it’s there, your farm will always suffer from a shortage of money even if you have a monopoly over high demand products.”
ReplyDeletewell that explains a lot, no wonder the Apple family keeps having money problems
hmm, guess the threat of Pinkie being brainwashed by the True Earth Ponies hasn't gone away, though at least this Copper Mane, seems to be at least somewhat progressive
inb4 Pinkie is some kind of 'Chosen One'...
and since when was Pinkie the element of Joy instead of Laughter? I get that they're basically the same thing, guess Joy is a shorter word then Laughter, or maybe it's Heartland vs. Barrier Lands?
switching to a different plot line after a pretty big cliff hanger: check
introducing yet another plot line/bringing an old one back: check
Nightcanter doing/saying suggestive stuff: uncheck...
@stringtheory
ReplyDeleteI think the situation was too serious even Nightcanter to hit on Cakes. That and she was pissed at Pinkie and Copper Mane.
As for potential indoctrination, there might be some elements there but I suspect it will mostly go the other way around... well, eventually... if he won't die somewhere on the way.
I haven't read this fic in forever, and I just burned through several chapters. Here are my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteChapter 20: Spike is growing as a dragon: squeeee! ^_^
Chapter 21: Oh my. It appears Black Rose is very active indeed!
Chapter 22: It appears that even in the Eternal Herd, not everything is perfect >_>
Chapter 23: Omgomgomg race!
Chapter 24: Black Rose is either incredibly cunning or one hell of a gambler....or both. Also, I can't tell if I'm relieved or annoyed that the race was interupted. That line-of-sight sniper has one cheating weapon!
Chapter 25: So Rainbow and Scarlet are captured...I can't wait to see where this is going! And I think Sablesteel's plan is not such much attack Pinkie's loved ones as to make her worry about an attack.
Chapter 26: Applejack needs to start being freaking honest with herself. This love triangle conflict has been going long enough >_>
Chapter 27: Pinkie Pie channeling is very interesting! Also, Vanguard immediately spotting the impersonators? Awesome ^_^
That's all for now, finally caught up! I'm eager to read some more! Thanks :-D
new chapter!
ReplyDeleteOk my...
first, now we know that Celestia actually met Oceanus, which is pretty interesting.
Spike's some kind of a special dragon... ok, I actually was expecting that, it might be interesting. inb4 next chapter has Spike in itŁp
Black Rose’s little brother worries me a little. Either hes really helping in which case he’s not helping at all because BR few him with misinformation, or he has his own agenda, or he wants to help in which case the surprise Lion Court prepared for him might be of the deadly sort.
And finally Terrato consorting with the enemy... might be interesting if BR will trap him or something. Luna and Celestia would be stuck with all of Equestria and the Legion to command, deal with the war and looking for both RD and the missing prince who.
Sounds like fun :p
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDelete>now we know that Celestia actually met Oceanus, which is pretty interesting.
this brings so much more context to what Oceanus did, he didn't rebel over simply wanting the throne, he rebelled because he was apparently passed over in favor of his younger sister, I wonder why he was passed over? perhaps it was because he was too...perfect, maybe?
plus this brings more info on the eternal herd as well, so Kings and Queens come and go in cycles, and that Sanctus Dominus and Divina Gratia's (so they actually have names) turn at ruling was at an end back when Oceanus rebelled, so now they've had an additional 1,500+ years of rule by moral time at least, but apparently a council has been ruling mainly in their stead, IIRC
I can definitely see the line of "What makes you so much better?” becoming Arc Words, and if not that, the theme of one group/person being 'better' is a rather central one in this story, with the heartland (best example would be Pyre's hatred towards Chosen), with Terrato's rant at Twilight back in chapter 46 of BP, being 'better' has come up pretty often in this story
>Spike's some kind of a special dragon
whether that's a good thing or a bad thing we'll have to see, but being the son of this Dragon Scourge, I can see him rising to become very important among the dragons...
>inb4 next chapter has Spike in it
from previous chapters, every ten chapters is a Spike chapter, and we're on #28 so two more chapters until we see Spike?
>Either hes really helping in which case he’s not helping at all because BR few him with misinformation
so you're saying that he's really went good? I highly doubt that because when we saw Black Rose talking about him, she didn't really seem angry at him, but then again she IS a Magnificent Bastard
>or he has his own agenda
maybe, but I highly doubt that...I guess that is for Visiden to know and for us to find out
>or he wants to help in which case the surprise Lion Court prepared for him might be of the deadly sort.
or the 'surprise' would be more of a 'remember who you are/who you serve.' sort of thing, a black rose would probably be perfect for that task
>Luna and Celestia would be stuck with all of Equestria and the Legion to command, deal with the war and looking for both RD and the missing prince.
and just when we though it couldn't get any worse...
oh, and the scene with young Celestia with baby Terrato, needs to be drawn
ReplyDeleteBlack Rose drives me insane. She's so cunning it makes me want to scream. I want to know what her motives are!
ReplyDeleteGreat chapter, as always, I wish for more.
http://midnightrain525.deviantart.com/art/Upheaval-BlackRose-323238050
ReplyDelete@Visiden VisidaneAs much as I like this fanart, judging by other works of this artist, I have some doubts if he's the actual author. <_<
ReplyDeleteI've seen the big mac picture he recolored. It's the cover art used in The Avengers fic I think.
ReplyDelete@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDeleteyeah, I do have to agree, hopefully he just does re-colors/re-makes (as shown with your 'Applejack's first kill' drawing knock-off), though his charcoal drawing is an interesting style
well, look on the bright side, someone's looking at your drawings and getting inspiration to do art of their own
@stringtheory
ReplyDeleteI have nothing against someone using my art if
1. I get the credit for the original and
2. I'm informed about it
besides, it also ensures that the guy doesn't get reported by other viewers.
btw, have you seen his sketch of my "Prince's mercy" picture? it's great :D
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDeleteyeah, that's great
and plus his Black Rose picture made me realize something about her: she's a red and black alicorn OC (the horror...the horror), and I'm okay with this
ok, I don't have too much to say about the new chapter outside of the fact that I have no doubt who's the biggest badass of the mane six...
ReplyDeleteI love Rarity in this story.
I absolutely love how awesome Rarity is in this fic :D
ReplyDeleteSeriously, for real:
ReplyDeleteRarity is best pony. Forever.
I love your story so much I'd pay to read more.
I do hope Blue Moon's confusing gender becomes a running gag, because the potential for confusion could be hilarious, especially if Nightcanter's involved :p
ReplyDeleteapparently Blue Moon seriously betrayed Black Rose, though of course his answers are annoying vague, I guess this means that Lion Court's surprise for him is something deadly, or to remind him of who he messing with
for now Rarity is most badass pony, though I do hope we get a Fluttershy chapter soon, though if the pattern serves we will have a Spike, sorry, 'Seifralhadar' chapter next
should've seen the 'you look good in red' line coming from the beginning when he said it, and when he proposed the duel
I've been thinking, his name is Lion Court, he has a lion like mane, and apparently even might have a fangs, and is apparently the most cruel of the Thorns, so perhaps he's a mare eater...literally, and if any further tests will be in the same style as this one, personal suffering/wounds to help your friends/other ponies, then perhaps the final one will be pounds/bites of flesh for information, or maybe it will be sooner and the final test will be much worse...
@stringtheory
ReplyDelete> I do hope Blue Moon's confusing gender becomes a running gag, because the potential for confusion could be hilarious, especially if Nightcanter's involved :p
I don't think Nightcanter would be bothered by his gender in any way :p
> for now Rarity is most badass pony, though I do hope we get a Fluttershy chapter soon, though if the pattern serves we will have a Spike, sorry, 'Seifralhadar' chapter next
well, she is seriously wounded and she is a Legion soldier, so she'll be treated in Legion's hospital where Fluttershy is. Poor Fluttershy, seeing another of her friends badly hurt in such a short time.
> I've been thinking, his name is Lion Court, he has a lion like mane, and apparently even might have a fangs, and is apparently the most cruel of the Thorns, so perhaps he's a mare eater...literally,
he's still a pony and as such he'd be really sick after eating meat. unless...magic, but I don't think so. as for fangs, I've learned from another artist that horses sometimes have fangs. I never verified that, but it seems possible(the artist is working on a war-themed story idea and she's drawing tons of epic pony sketches for it and her RD has fangs :p)
> and if any further tests will be in the same style as this one, personal suffering/wounds to help your friends/other ponies, then perhaps the final one will be pounds/bites of flesh for information, or maybe it will be sooner and the final test will be much worse...
I doubt Lion Court will play this game too often. Although if Rarity gets better, there might be a slightly more difficult version of the game, where the one who got cut has to answer a question. Just imagine how Lion Court is trying to distract Rarity with some embarrassing questions or something :p come to think about it... she might just play along to distract him too, he's one horny little pony :p
Well we have seen Rarity enjoy a nice breakfast of FRIED EGGS. It's not actual meat but certainly quite close.
ReplyDelete@Visiden Visidane
ReplyDeleteok, so I take that you're not denying the possibility of Rarity being eaten by Lion Court... and not in the good way? :p
I think you're taking the lion imagery a little far.
ReplyDelete@Visiden Visidane
ReplyDeleteit was stringtheory's idea, not mine. I don't want anyone to eat Rarity in the not-good way. Right now my tom worry is that those deep wounds could leave scars that could be visible on her beautiful white fur.
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDelete>I don't think Nightcanter would be bothered by his gender in any way :p
that's not what would be hilarious in my mind, the scene would go something like this: Nightcanter starts hitting on Blue Moon as a mare, then she finds out that he's a stallion, and without missing a beat switches to hitting on him as a stallion
IDK, it just sounded hilarious in my head
>he's still a pony and as such he'd be really sick after eating meat.
well, if MLP ponies have the same biology as real world equines, they should be able to digest meat as it's just another protein, with some types getting digested and some not, It's a bit like you or me eating grass: we can't digest cellulose, so it simply passes through, and it doesn't do us any harm. and plus there's even a book about meat eating horses: Deadly Equines: The Shocking True Story of Meat-Eating and Murderous Horses, so I'd guess in the MLP universe ponies who eat meat would probably be considered cannibals, so in the Heartland the barrier would've probably repressed any such urges, while in the Barrier Lands, the ponies would've done the repressing themselves, or it would be a very deep dark secret, I could see there being a Legionnaire or two, or maybe even a entire squad who likes to hang around the battlefield a little too much...
@Visiden Visidane
hmm, guess there's not that much sub-text in this story and that Meaningful Names are less common than I think, although a meat eating pony would be a good/quick way to push them over the Moral Event Horizon and into Complete Monster territory
yay, another chapter :D
ReplyDeleteSo... Spike is a hatching of a dragon queen and Terrato wants to use him to take over the dragon. Why am I not surprised? And now he has to go to his father's lab? I'm really interested what kind of laboratory it is? His father's description also seems interesting.
I”m just a little bit worried that this part of the story would be enough for a fanfiction on its own, but in here it gets a little bit lost between the other plot lines. I”m not complaining, but I don't even know how much time had passed and what was Spike doing all this time? I don't think it's much, I think it's been only few weeks since the mane six returned to Heartland, but that only highlights the problem I have... I'm getting lost in time with all those plot lines and jumps and cliffhangers. Could someone drop the date or some other time reference every now and then? Please? :D
Also, I knew we'll jump to Spike now, with so much going on in the Heartland it was only a matter of time to get a cliffhanger and Bleeding out Rarity was a perfect bloody setting to do this :p
Speaking of which, I don't think Rarity is wounded enough to actually die (Lion Court is too good at killing to allow that) but do you think she'll get a message from the Queen or something like that?
You know what we didn't have in a while? Fluttershy... and since we have Rarity bleeding out on a floor of a restaurant, I suppose this is a perfect opportunity to jump to her in a chapter or two.
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDelete>Spike is a hatching of a dragon queen and Terrato wants to use him to take over the dragon. Why am I not surprised?
I called him being the 'Chosen One' a few chapters back when Terrato was talking about him I think
>I'm really interested what kind of laboratory it is?
well from what very little we have on it, it seems to be either some kind of alchemical/chemistry or poison lab because he supposedly used something he 'cooked' (not 'made' or 'created') up in it to kill his mate.
> I”m just a little bit worried that this part of the story would be enough for a fanfiction on its own.
it probably could be it's own fanfic, but from what I've read it would be a lot of Seeth Scale brooding and Spike being bored, I guess Visiden's only covering the important bits, which is fine with me.
>but I don't even know how much time had passed and what was Spike doing all this time?
Like I said above probably being bored, with Seeth Scale brooding all the time, though I do believe they went into Wallforge at the end of the last Spike chapter
> I don't think it's much I think it's been only few weeks since the mane six returned to Heartland, but that only highlights the problem I have... I'm getting lost in time with all those plot lines and jumps and cliffhangers.
I think in terms of time it's been like two weeks maybe? given that the time between the two other Spike chapter (10 and 20) was stated by Spike to have been one week, so I'm guessing the same interval for 20-30 then? it certainly seems to be enough time for everything to happen, given this story runs on Third Line Some Waiting with Spike's plot line being the minor third one which we come back to briefly,
I'm not too confused by the order in which stuff happens, every chapter happens in real time sometime after the previous one (think Game of Thrones) usually with the time difference being stated in the chapter, but usually not more then a few days at most
>Also, I knew we'll jump to Spike now, with so much going on in the Heartland it was only a matter of time to get a cliffhanger and Bleeding out Rarity was a perfect bloody setting to do this
plus it was 10 chapters after the previous Spike chapter, so it was just following the pattern, whether it occurring right after Rarity's chapter is either a coincidence or is simply All According To Planis I guess for Visiden to know
>Speaking of which, I don't think Rarity is wounded enough to actually die (Lion Court is too good at killing to allow that) but do you think she'll get a message from the Queen or something like that?
well considering Lion Court called for help right as soon as their duel ended I HIGHLY doubt Rarity will die (I doubt Visiden will Kill Off any of the Mane6, OC's however...), plus like you said he's too good at killing to let her die...yet.
as for getting a message from the Queen, again I highly doubt it, just because you have die in order to go to Vestibulum, and plus if you re-use a plot point/event like that, it quickly loses it's importance/uniqueness and if you keep on using it the story becomes predictable ((almost) die, go to Vestibulum, get message from Queen/other Alicorn, gain new power(s)), plus what would the Queen need conveyed now?
>You know what we haven't had in a while? Fluttershy... and since we have Rarity bleeding out on a floor of a restaurant, I suppose this is a perfect opportunity to jump to her in a chapter or two.
well she deserves one, Fluttershy hasn't really had a chapter in Reckoning IIRC, I guess Fluttershy hasn't had an important role to play in Reckoning yet
@stringtheory
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sure we could have a Spike's story told in an intersting way, with him learning the way of dragons and stuff, and now that we actually know whay he's important and that his father was...well... an interesting figure to say the least :p we'll see.
I'm not confused by the order of events, more like the time span it's taking and maybe a little less now than few chapters back... than again, so much happened that I'm not even sure I remember everything with the ancient ruins, Clover the Clever and now the things that happened.
Come to think of it, Reckoning has a lot of things that happened, much more, it seems, than Breaking Point. Or is it just me?
As for Fluttershy, she didn't even get a scene in Ponyville, there’s either something really big coming up for her, or we know who's Visidane's least favorite pony :p
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDelete>more like the time span it's taking [...] so much happened that I'm not even sure I remember everything
this isn't even that bad, compared with say, Project Horizons, that's over a million words now with the timespan being only a month(ish), it is first-person so that makes much easier to follow though
>Come to think of it, Reckoning has a lot of things that happened, much more, it seems, than Breaking Point. Or is it just me?
I think Reckoning has been doing a lot more deep world building, compared with Breaking Point (BP's world building in a nut shell: the world is rated M)
>As for Fluttershy, she didn't even get a scene in Ponyville
well, given it would just have been her greeting her animals/living with them again, it would probably be very hard to write a scene where only one side is able to talk, Visiden could probably pull it off very well if he was to do a scene like that
>we know who's Visidane's least favorite pony :p
or she's just hard for Visiden to write,
IDK, Fluttershy needs more focus in this story
guys, lookie what I found: http://gonedreamer.deviantart.com/art/Vanguard-Clash-325848968
ReplyDeleteI really can't get enough of the Spike arc of this story! :-D
ReplyDeleteYou got me worried there for a while, Visidane. I thought you'll actually make them rape RD. But it's good to know that RD is..well... not mined wiped. It will also be an interesting lesson of humility to learn for her.
ReplyDeleteAnd the SpOps squads that went the right way – did Rarity share her info with anyone yet? Or do they have any means to contact them?
Come to think about it, what about Rarity? And Terrato's little gamble?
Next chapter...hmm... either putting Rarity back together or AJ/Twi/Vanguard fun times... or something else entirely.
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDelete>It will also be an interesting lesson of humility to learn for her.
eh, I don't really see the enslavement as a lesson of humility, because as Longstride thought, "Ophidite drugs were potent substances even for hardened legionnaires used to fighting the snake creatures in the Southern Barrier Land let alone for an unexposed chosen mare." but the getting sniped during the race with Scarlet, oh yeah...
>did Rarity share her info with anyone yet?
well given it has been 'a few days' since Rainbow and Scarlet were captured, and that was mid-day IIRC, Twi, AJ & Vanguard set out that night, and Rarity's chapter was the next morning at brunch, so I guess depending on how severe her wounds, are she's either woken up already, or will be waking up in the next chapter, and I'm predicting next chapter will be focused on Fluttershy, with a flashback to when Rarity was brought in, with the focus possibly switching to Rarity part way through
>And Terrato's little gamble?
I can see that going a few ways, either Terrato and BR have a nice civil conversation (not gonna happen), BR springs some kind of trap on Terrato, either capturing him or forcing him out of action for X amount of time, or Terrato tries to kill BR probably failing and possibly falling into her trap (we know she has one...)
If Terrato does get captured it will probably force Luna to step up to the plate even more, and if Terrato does get captured it will hopefully providing more info on their relationship between BR and Terrato as the either wax about the good old days, or just by the nature of their interaction
Nice save there about taking advantage of RD. It shows the Ophidite's mentality towards ponies quite well. And kuddos to Dash for acting smart when she broke free of Fool's Cap. She could have been captured again if she acted out of place.
ReplyDeleteokay new chapter, yay!
ReplyDeletelets see what we got
>Fluttershy
hmm, she's feeling useless just like Pinkie is/was, but at least she's doing good working in the hospital despite what she thinks.
So Rebrand's "nag wife" could be coming to Canterlot? I wonder what her reaction will be to seeing the relationship between Fluttershy and Redbrand? Probably cries of "affair" and "I'm not good enough for you?", I'm pretty sure this ties into testing Fluttershy's element so that would mean a certain red & black alicorn would be behind it...
I guess Fluttershy's test is showing kindness to those who don't deserve it, something which is not helped by being around Redbrand
>Redbrand
so he has "nag wife" and a colt as well as a daughter he lost many years ago...what I think happened is that he was trying to save his daughter but lost her to what I assume to be a wound from a Wolven, so he doubled down on his duty as a doctor and neglected his wife (and/or they never really got along in the first place) which is the source their animosity, as she feels (rightly) neglected, and he feels that she's being too leechy/pushy, so when Fluttershy came along and showed him some kindness (probably the first he'd had in years), and she kept on pushing and he let her because she reminded him of his long dead daughter (bonus points if Shimmer Wing was a yellow pegasus (well I guess it's obvious she was a pegasus with that name), double points if she also had a pink mane), so the accusations from Floral might not be so much"affair" as "you're trying to replace our daughter, with this...Chosen nag?"
>Twilght
Being called "purple Pyre" hits a little close to home, eh Twilight? remember what Vanguard said so many chapters ago: "If you walk Pyre's path, you'll end up where Pyre is." and it looks like she's walking that path very closely...
>Rainbow
so her special element talent is...more speed? that's under whelming but it does fit
so now she and Scarlet are now stuck in southern Heartland or northern Southern Barrier Lands, and they can't fly for fear of being shot by Longstride? looks like the forecast will be lots of character development with a chance of shipping in the chapters to come.
@stringtheory
ReplyDeleteI think for Fluttershy it would be something opposite: that kindness doesn't always means stepping out of someone's path, especially if you know that there's a high calif on the other side of the road.
Redbrand... I'm not even trying to guess in here, I hope for something interesting :D
Rainbow and Scarlet alone in a forest... this will be interesting... I hope...
The first thing RD did after being freed is risk her life to save a demented friend. If that's not loyalty, I don't know what is!
ReplyDeleteI get it!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am slow like that
Breaker – that's how the old wolven shaman called Vanguard, right?
But in 80 chapters he didn't really break anything
or did he?
How about AJ's and Twilight's trust and friendship? Applejack lied about her feelings and Twilight is jealous about him. And things will most probably get more serious. The divide between those two would only grow wider because it is really hard to fix things like that... not impossible, but hard.
In their case it's pretty bad because it takes the elements of harmony out of the equation and with all the things going on that might be a big issue.
@Adalbertus Morridath
ReplyDeleteWell I guess you're using a rather strict definition of 'breaker' according to the wolven shaman, "He is the wolven-eyed thunder-foot fated to break cursed Equestria no matter what he does!", "He will turn cursed Terrato against his sisters and set thunder-foot against thunder-foot."
well, he did turn Terrato against his sisters, by providing Twilight with that emblem, which let her remember and therefore get banished because she was unwilling to forget, thereby sending Celestia on a downward spiral, which ultimately lead to the barrier going down, sure it probably would have come down in a century or two if Black Rose's original plan succeeded (remember the Mane6 getting banished set that timetable way ahead), but Vanguard did start the chain of events that led to the seventh rebellion, even if Black Rose masterminded most of it
prophecies always have twisted meanings, and usually don't come true in the way you expect them to
Once I was known as Set. THen I disappeared. Then I returned... to disappear. Now? Now I have a very important question. Is Pyre going to pull a Konrad? Okay, bad metaphor unless you played Spec Ops the Line. You see, Pyre is dead, but Twilight is using the memory of Pyre as an excuse to continue fighting. While it may be benifical in the short run, in the long run it is dangerous. In Spec Ops the Line it is revealed the main character was using Konrad as an excuse for the butchering of innocents, his mind had created a vivid illusion of a person in order to hide his guilt, while the person in question was already dead. What I'm trying to say is that the 'voice' of Pyre Valor may become something far more problematic if Twilight continues the way she is going.
ReplyDelete@Set
ReplyDeleteI'm respond to me to make one more statement.
Maybe I wrong about it. Maybe the author will go somewhere differently with it. I just can't shake the feeling that more Twilight indulges in this idea of Pyre Valor, the more trouble she'll be in. Pyre never let morality stand in her way, and that's why I'm worried about what Twilight will do.
@Set
ReplyDeletefirst off, I hate you for spoiling the game for me, I was planning on playing it sometime...
anyway, I find that to be a possibility, but I do believe you're looking at it wrong, Twilight's not using Pyre's voice as an excuse to keep fighting, there are plenty of actual reasons to do that, she's using Pyre's voice as more of a way to deal with her guilt, and as a justification for what she has to keep doing but that's kinda the same thing which you're talking about
I think Twilight's suffering from (Applejack also) a Heroic BSOD caused by a These Hands Have Killed trigger, but yes having Pyre's voice in Twilight's head, can't be good for her
meanwhile Applejack's comparing herself to the Black Sheep of the family/clan, wondering if she's would be following his path, just because she has his weapon...
in case you don't know, the story's on FiMfiction, so jump over some time, it would be nice to have some actual discussion on this story, [link]
@stringtheory
ReplyDeleteI'm posting my comments there :D
also, welcome back Set
Twilight is using Pyre, if not as a reason, than as a justification. The way she replayed to AJ, the "it's pathetic" line, that's Pyre speaking, not Twilight.
This fic is still as enthralling as ever! ^_^
ReplyDeleteAlthough Twilight is getting a little too Pyric for my tastes...
Interesting...Longstride is protecting RD. Dare I say that it's out of Loyalty? :-P
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie against all odds! I'm so very annoyed that Black Rose was able to rescue SableSteel from Luna...so close to real progress for the good guys!
