• Teens React To: My Little Pony

I don't think I have ever received so many emails about something before. Literally 70 between my two addresses. You guys really like this series don't you?

    Well, have some Teens React!

    570 comments:

    1. Ok guys, cut them some slack. They're average teenagers, and typically, teenage boys tend to immediately shy away from girly stuff because they don't want to be seen as girly. I don't really blame them for being close minded - after only knowing about G1-3 and then seeing the theme song, I would expect that reaction. Even after watching some of the better stuff, I wouldn't expect everyone to be into it - for some people, it just isn't their thing.

Part of it is peer pressure, like some people have said - if they were talking privately, they may or may not have been so openly opposed. But put them on camera, in front of their peers, and ask them if they like My Little Pony? That's different. Nobody wants to be made fun of, and they don't want to look bad in front of their friends. I'm a bit disappointed about some of the reactions, but I understand. I really respect Isaac, though, for saying that, though it isn't his thing, he won't judge people for something they like.

I'll admit that when my friend first told me about it, I thought something similar. Especially seeing the theme song for the first time, I was thinking, "What is this and why would guys like it?" I bet many of you felt the same way in the beginning. But I gave it a chance, and I'm very glad that I did. People may be close-minded at first - most people tend to be - but give them a chance, and things may turn out differently than you expect. :)

    2. Haters gonna hater.
      Bronies gonna be oversensitive.

      ReplyDelete
    3. I'm actually quite upset about this...but I suppose I shouldn't be since its only the thoughts of some teens they grabbed of the street. :/

    4. If I judged every show I watched just on the into alone, my anime collection would be A LOT smaller. If I didn't suffer through the first two or three episodes, my list of favorite shows wouldn't be very long. Hell if I judged my beloved Jacksonville Jaguars just on their first few games of their first season I would not be the loyal (albeit very frustrated) fan that I am now.

Moral of the story, do not judge a book by it's cover, or the first couple of chapters for that matter.

    6. Who wants to do a "Bronies react" project? I would love to get that started. Give me a shout @ [email protected] if you are interested.

    7. I wanna high-five Devin, best reaction out of all of them and he was damn quick on the breakdown of Brony.

New meme, "Ethan Does Not Approve."
      Make it happen.

    8. Fuck you, teens react. JUST. FUCK. YOU

      ReplyDelete
    9. MLP is a fun and amazing show. It's all about the show. This has nothing to do with trolling. What's up with the hate? It's nothing wrong. Are they seriously yelling at people and telling them to get a life for enjoying a show that makes them happy? How freaking ignorant is that? And then they all freak out at Rick Perry for his anti-homo comment in his campaign? These kids are such hippocrates. Get some accepting kids that don't care how people are.
      Brony and proud

      ReplyDelete
    10. Does anyone else think it funny that the oriental guy with the styled and highlighted hair and pink shirt saying that male fans of the show shouldn't be called men?

      Pot, meet kettle.

      ReplyDelete
    11. I was considering e-mailing this only to discover that 70 people beat me to it.

I gotta say, though, the video was amusing.

      ReplyDelete
    12. Other teens are absolutely ignorant. I'm actually kind of surprised that 2 of them said it was ok. Mainly the one that actually liked the show. The troll, he doesn't get it. And the media that does the show, still only understand about 3/4 of this.

      ReplyDelete
    13. lol watching this was awesome. Oh and Devin FTW!

      ReplyDelete
    14. Hooray for close-minded and mouthy teenagers! This definitely pissed me off, but not because most of them didn't like the show, but because like a lot of teens, they just jump straight to extreme conclusions before using their brains and objectively considering it first before having an opinion of something. That's NEVER a good trait for anybody to have, no matter what the subject matter is. Not to mention I get the feeling they were only shown either the intro or like five minutes worth of the show, and they completely judged it based on that. I don't know for sure, but if that's the case, it just makes the people who made this look even more stupid. :/ All they said pretty much was "oh, talking ponies, ewwwww!" Not a very informative or logical critique, is that?

Then there's simply the fact that lot of teens just don't the best judges of much of anything (especially shitty vampire literature written by bored housewives). They're close-minded to what anyone older than them says and are too easily swayed by their peers to say or feel absolutely anything, no matter how illogical or asinine it is, and thus don't have the bravery to express their real individual opinions. I bet if those teens weren't so insecure of themselves and their social life (which is still genuinely a sad thing if they're not) they'd at least give it a chance just like a lot of the people my age (22) have.

But to all the bronies here who are genuinely offended by their weak criticisms, don't let what they said get to you. Like I said before, teens will mouth off to a lot of things they wouldn't normally do that to without the fact that they give into peer pressure a lot, and a lot of them obviously made their extreme opinions hastily anyway, which makes them look pretty silly in the end. So don't even take that crap to heart. Remember our creed, everybrony, Love and Tolerate.

      ReplyDelete
    15. *sigh* Well, I guess I didn't expect a bunch of people coming out and saying they were bronies, or that they want to watch the show again. But I didn't expect such a perfect show of a bunch of teenage stereotypes.
Guys who feel their "manhood" threatened by a TV show and girls too shallow to accept guys for liking something like this. Sometimes I do feel a little ashamed to be associated with teens like this. It's okay if they don't like it, but they should at least try watching an episode before judging it.

      ReplyDelete
    16. That was a good laugh and it kinda makes me want to slap those close minded guys. Except for the older black kid and the bronyfied guy I hate teenagers. Three people in there were rational and weren't hating. The rest were really just being incredibly ignorant.

On a related side note, I first watched FiM one day in january last year when I was bored and realized it was an okay show. I didn't watch it again until June, however, but it was needless to say I was a brony since my first encounter. I had a ton of hate from my classmates until I showed them the show, in which case half were converted and the other half became the perfect anti-bronies.

All I gotta say is I hate our society for forcing the stereotypes that guys are supposed to be tough and girls are supposed to be delicate flowers. To each their own, I guess.

      ReplyDelete
    17. @Dwarfyz

Yeah, way to completely waste the subject. They should have taken a short clip from the show instead, something funny... like... say the Catapult scene in Applebucking Season

      ReplyDelete
    18. This almost makes me embarrassed to be a teenager.

I'm 16 and I don't like to judge things that I don't know that much about, unlike how most of the kids in this video did.

I guess that whole don't judge a book by it's cover saying just gets thrown out the window when it comes to most things these days.

      ReplyDelete
    19. @Roperalol, Speaking of not judging the cover of a book, I remember one certain MLP episode about just that... Which was it again? Oh yeah, Bridle Gossip! They totally should have watched that episode as the take-home lesson to not judge an entire TV show based on two minutes of its content.

      ReplyDelete
    20. So much hatred and ignorance condensed into one video.

      ReplyDelete
    21. On the bright side, not everyone in that room was a hater!

      That counts for something, right?!

      ...right?

      ReplyDelete
    22. I kinda feel hurt guys. Im 15 and this just feels. Insulting. they should have made them watch an episode

      ReplyDelete
    23. well that was some instant stereotyping right there.

      ReplyDelete
    24. used to be haters like them but then i took a yay to the heart

      ReplyDelete
    25. @Cesar

No lie there, I still skip the opening everytime it pops up.

      ReplyDelete
    26. @Inspira

lol That would be a very appropriate episode for them.Maybe seeing a full episode would help change their minds about it.Because really you can't judge a show by it's intro. If I did that then I would be missing out on a lot of good shows.

      ReplyDelete
    27. I'm a teen brony and proud, whats up with them?

      ReplyDelete
    28. i think wed all react the same if we saw the intro, only the intro

theyr guna laugh when they actualy see the episodes and realize how shallow they wer...kinda like how rd used to be

      ReplyDelete
    29. You people are so mad. just calm down down.

      ReplyDelete
    30. none of you teens should be 'ashamed' or embarrased. this show stands for amazing morals and ways of life; now if it wer strawberryshortcake...

      ReplyDelete
    31. I stopped taking things teenager say at around age 14. That being said, the greater testament here is that all but 2 or 3 of them had a absolute position knowing nothing or very little about it. They render judgement with what they are aware is limited knowledge. Teens (and people in general) do no critical thinking, they don't ask questions and they simply have a decision and it is truth because they're raised in a society that tells them they can never be wrong and should get whatever they want.

A bit of a projection, but my view (having been, knowing many and still having to be around) teenagers are the butt of so many jokes because we made them into a punchline, trend following, soulless consumers of whatever media is set in front of them. No objectivity, no critical thought.

The guy in the hoodie was honestly just funny, he KNOWS this is a troll, and he would know, he's been on 4chan, he's seen a lot of trolls in his day!

      ReplyDelete
    32. @karrotline

I'm not embarrassed of liking Friendship is Magic,I'm embarrassed of how the teens in this video reacted to a show that they know little about.

It's a stereotype of how teenagers act these days and I would hate for people to think that I'm like them just because I'm around the same age group as them.

I've always been sort of the outcast in my school and would like things that I would get made fun of for like anime, watching educational documentaries, shows for guys ect.

If I wasn't home schooled I would probably get teased for watching Friendship is Magic too.I really have no shame of liking this show even though I don't usually like girly things. But FIM really isn't that girly when you get to know it well.

      ReplyDelete
    33. @Wolf of Twilight

Nah, the brony community would never reject a convert, no matter how big a hater they used to be.

      ReplyDelete
    34. The biggest issue with this episode of Teens React is that they only showed the intro of MLP: FIM, which tells almost nothing of the actual show content or even about the bronies.

It's poor judgement on the finebros side to only show this and the teens then make assumptions based only from that intro. They should've shown a PMV, or a short scene, a fan animation, and now, now the finebros are gonna' get a big backlash from this.

      ReplyDelete
    35. So we got everyone except for the stupid jocks, the dumb blonde, and the insta-haters. I am okay with that.

      ReplyDelete
    36. Well. Makes me glad I a) am not a teenager, b) not in high school, c) have friends who're cool with me watching children's shows, and d) have a fiance who watches it with me.

      ReplyDelete
    37. Coming from the same age group as them, I could really just tear these ******* apart. No joke I could really just go off on them. < but thats as far as I'll go on my ranting about this. Long story short, I'm really a bit taken back by this. The level of immaturity among some of them is a little fascinating, but not completely surprising. I'm a sophomore in HS, I've told practically all of my friends about being a brony. Most of them got a giggle out of it and shrugged it off as whatever or they really just didn't give a buck about it. Some of them got intrigued and asked me about it or checked out the show. And just one, a freshman kid thats sort of a lingerer, had the nerve or stupidity to make a joke of it. So I don't know about these kids. But anyway, most teens are straight up stupid, judgmental, ignorant, egotistical, and vain douchebags. I can easily say I'm more of a man than the homophobes that are these some of these kids shown.

      ReplyDelete
    38. So much immaturity from those teens.

      ReplyDelete
    39. This is no surprise at all.

I didn't like the show that much in the beginning either. It took me five episodes for it to finally break through and start gaining my appeal. It was a really tough sell for me, but eventually, I grew to stomach it, tolerate it, enjoy it, like it, laugh with it, love it, obsess over it, go fanatical over it, pledge unyielding allegiance to it, sacrifice my life to it...

...Eh, you know what I mean.

But if you asked my opinion of it based upon the intro (heck, the first few episodes), I would've responded exactly the same. No teenage angst or backwards baseball cap necessary.

If this proves anything, it's that the show requires an open mind, a fair chance, and a little bit of patience for some people. But for those who afford it such, and simply take it at face value devoid of the girlish legacy or the (I say this lovingly) ostentatious fanbase affecting opinion, it's totally worth it.

Even those who give it a fair chance and still don't like it can say that at least they tried. If they can sincerely say they tried, then they are validated in their opinion against the show and the fanbase. Just knowing they gave it a shot is enough for me, and I'll totally respect their opinion.

      ReplyDelete
    40. The teens chosen for this series clearly come from a cultural background where heavily imposed ideas of gender, snarky condescension, enormous peer pressure and being readily judgmental are the norm.

Many of the boys were pretty uncomfortable with the idea that being male or masculine can encompass enjoying fantastic cartoons of a " feminine " nature. The boy in the dark red hoodie, the boy in the cap and the boy in the blue tshirt especially.

Unfortunately, the girls very much played their part in dictating these nonsensical notions of what masculinity is when divulging how they would reject a Brony for dating.

For the record- I'm female and I would TOTALLY date a Brony. :D

      ReplyDelete
    41. Irritating as expected, although the girl in brown and the striped Brony can chill with me. Well groomed tolerant kid can come too. Asian child with the parakeet hair can go sit in a corner and think about what he just said. Really. Homophobia wasn't necessary. As for stringy little black kid, I like how he tells the fanbase to get girlfriends when he's clearly to young to do much in the way of dating himself.

I just think it's funny, the misconception that we're all pathetic and lonely. I not only have a very fulfilling love life, but I have been know to wake up the guy I'm seeing on Saturday mornings so we can watch the new episode together. Clearly, I am a sad old maid and will die alone, surrounded by cats.

Cue the Suited for Success reference. XD

      ReplyDelete
    42. I don't see why everybody is being so hard on these kids. Oh course they are being immature and judgmental, they're still children they don't know any better.

      ReplyDelete
    43. I hate most of these kids... But to be honest, I probably would've done the same thing. Why'd you only show them the theme song? I still cringe every time I hear that... You should've showed them Dragonshy or Sonic Rainboom or a PMV! Something to show why we like the show! ...and the fine brothers aren't even here and I'm ranting to a forum of bronies... great.

      ReplyDelete
    44. 16 and 17 years old are not a child. They're old enough to know not to judge people like that and make such hurtful comments. These are not little 9 and 10 year olds they are old enough to know better.

The ones younger than are around 13 it's not surprising that something ignorant would probably come out of their mouth.

It is understandable that they would think that bronies are strange just from seeing the opening but all of the insulting comments were not needed.

      ReplyDelete
    45. Well I assume they only just saw the intro. I bet most of you would think this is like G3 or some baby girly Strawberry Shortcake show if you just saw the intro.

I actually hated the intro when I first started watching.

      ReplyDelete
    46. I wouldn't bame them for hating the show just by watching the intro. They need to watch an whole episode at least.

      ReplyDelete
    47. hey,i'm 34 and i love this show, much more than the old one,and i like the fact that each episode doesn't have a song, but when it does,it's catchy, and those kids are growing up in different times, not like when i grew up,i grew up in the 80's,next to spongebob, friendship is magic is by far my favorite cartoon and i'm glad to hear that season 3 is in the works.

      ReplyDelete
    48. Teenagers are morons.

      ReplyDelete
    49. sigh im 15 and i love the show its people like those teens that make me hate my generation to the fullest

      ReplyDelete
    50. sigh im 15 and i love the show the problem is that everyone in my generation is paranoid about what other people will think of them thats why we have white guys trying to be gangsters......facepalm

      ReplyDelete
    51. yeah,i bet with their combined IQ,they couldn't even tie a shoe

      ReplyDelete
    52. To be totally honest, all of the stuff I was gonna say has probably already been said. But still. I play football, I lift weights, I'm a teen male, and I'm a godamn brony, and I'm proud of that

      ReplyDelete
    53. This comment has been removed by the author.

      ReplyDelete
    54. I kinda like the video. I know that most teens are judgmental D-Bags so I wasn't surprised there I just was disappointed that they only showed them the intro. To be honest I dont think I would be a Brony if all I saw was the intro.

      ReplyDelete
    55. OMG! They got the cast of Dagrassi judging the My Little Pony intro. Smart move, Fine Bros.

      ReplyDelete
    56. I don't know why but boys have started wearing backwards caps EVERYWHERE now. A year ago that was rare and now it's everywhere.

Honestly? I think everyone thinks it looks stupid and obnoxious. It's used as a joke on tv.

Anyway, the reaction was what I expected, apart from most of those girls. I've found that guys usually have a HUGE problem with it, while girls are just like 'ehh'

      ReplyDelete
    57. Give these guys some slack man.

      1. If you were pulled out, had no idea what this was and with your knowledge of the first generations, you would have done the same thing.

      2. Only 2 or 3 really knocked hard on it, and to me they were still funny. Everyone else who said it wasn't their thing just said do what you do (Issac was the best out of the group).

      3. You know good and damn well there are shows out there that you don't like and yet everyone else does, so don't act like MLP is the perfect feakin' show, because it isn't.

I still like teens react, and I like this video. We got to learn that not everyone is going to like the show and we can't go home sucking our thumbs and crying to mommy every time someone doesn't approve of it. We leave ourselves open for attacks enough as it is by spamming web pages and altering voting panels. So if you really want people to think differently of us, stop trying to force it onto people. Respect that teens will be teens and enjoy the video for what it's worth, a reaction of teens with very little knowledge of the subject. At least they judged based on initial reactions (which is human nature BTW) and didn't do a full freakin research on it like Fox News.

      ReplyDelete
    58. well all this talking is making want to watch it now,so see yeah.

      ReplyDelete
    59. Tell us to do something cooler

Looks like sodding Fred Durst (backwards cap boy)

      Makes perfect sense to me.

      ReplyDelete
    60. Besides that. It's not that bad of a vid guize

      ReplyDelete
    61. i facepalmed so many times
then again they were shown the intro out of context

      ReplyDelete
    62. I'm rather surprised at all you people. Obviously most of you haven't done your research, to immediately jump to the conclusion: "Oh the Fine Bros only showed them the intro". Quote, "NOTE: We are unable to show reactions to more of the show due to length.". Doesn't mean that they only watched the intro. Only means that we, the viewers, only see them reacting to the intro.

And those reactions aren't all that bad. Devin was cool, and Issac was cool too, major props to them. The rest, well, it couldn't possibly be worse than 4chan, Fox News and all that. Overreaction much, bronies?

Even so, I'm disappointed at the Fine Bros' presentation of the brony culture. Showing the kids those sub-intelligent "haterz gonna hate", "brohoof" captions, instead of those that are actually witty... ugh. Just, ugh. Of all the images you could have picked, you chose the most bland, and that makes me bite my lip hard.

Overall, not a good episode of React, but certainly not as bad as the previous tons o' comments make it out to be.

      ReplyDelete
    63. What the fuck? Of course they didn't like it, no one likes the intro! That's messed up, yo. Do over.

      ReplyDelete
    64. My little sister's going to grow up to be like these kids... makes me cringe. SO hard to tolerate how judgmental society is.

      ReplyDelete
    65. Teenagers being teenagers. We can't really say just how much of an episode they did see, we only know for certain they saw the intro.

And as others have said, the intro can be a large hurdle to getting into the show. I had to stop for a moment after seeing the intro the first time. If I had not been wanting to find out why the show had become so popular at the time, I don't know if I would of kept going. Now I have no issues with the intro, almost enjoy it.

What has been more interesting to me has been the reactions to them reacting.

      ReplyDelete
    66. Why do these kids never know ANYTHING about the internet??? If they're supposed to resemble typical teens, why are they oblivious to their own generation's culture?

      *sigh*

      ReplyDelete
    67. I like this its great more bronies the better and like that one guy said "brony on" and I say "brony on everypony, brony on"

      ReplyDelete
    68. It sucks that machoism still lives in the younger generation.... oh well that won't stop me from supporting this great fan base.

      ReplyDelete
    69. Eh TBH it wasn't as bad as I expected we two who were pretty enthusiastic, the cool guy with tie was all love and tolerance, and only really 3 big douchbags (the one in the red hoodie I believe is a closet Brony), and the rest seemed indifferent. So it wasn't that bad (As I speak with Rarity's accent).

      ReplyDelete
    70. For one, they only showed the opening. sure its catchy but the teens arent getting wat makes the show so good

      For two,
interviewer: "what do you think of when you hear My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?"
Girl: Cupcakes! i can only think of cupcakes.
      Me: If only she knew...

      ReplyDelete
    71. I'm 22 now, but if I were a teen I probably would have thought the exact same thing as the more opposed teens here. So, basically, vOv

      ReplyDelete
    72. The weird thing is the guy who was hooked after the theme song :/ that wasn't supposed to happen

      ReplyDelete
    73. To be honest as much as theese teens disrispect us
We should probably stop hating on all teens
Because not all teens are bad
I am a teen but I am also a brony
I am kinda dissapointed in all the responces saying teens suck
Wasn't the brony message to love and tolorate?

      ReplyDelete
    74. @Warpyoshi
That message is a bloody lie.

      ReplyDelete
    75. "What if you said, 'Hey, take me out to the movies.' and they were like, 'No, I'm sorry. Tonight, My Little Pony's on."

That's ridiculous. No brony would ever do that. . . because new episodes come out Saturday mornings. :D

Anyway, I'm not surprised by their reactions to the series intro. The intro is what nearly stopped me from watching my first episode. (Of course, now I sing along.)

      ReplyDelete
    76. *snerk*
      People, please, now listen here
This show's point is PAINFULLY clear.
The reactions are just supposed to be fun
From well-informed kids they would get NONE
So seriously, don't take it to heart
...and that's really all that I wished to impart.

      ReplyDelete
    77. Wow, so many comments. And for good reason. lol

For one, these are a bunch of kids. Yes, I know I'm insulting some of you here with that comment. Deal with it. lol But at my age, they're considered kids still. And they're at that age where... they want to pretend to be "cool". And something like My Little Pony Friendship is Magic wouldn't be considered "cool" at their ages. I mean, com'on, most can say at some point around those ages they at least pretended to be cool. And I simply think that's what these kids are doing. Personally, I don't mind what they think. They're going to grow up and with that maturity, they're going to grow to hopefully not care so much what others think of them. Or what their personal likes are. You start out being a kid. Then you go to trying to be an adult. Then you spend the rest of you life just trying to be a kid again. lol

To the girl who responded; "Yes, we do have a problem with that." Well, my response would have to be; That sounds like your problem, not mine. ;) I like how the one... one kid in that group, liked it and didn't care. At least there's SOME hope for the future and kids not being a bunch of annoying hipsters and little pricks. :P But the ending was good, for the most part. Besides a couple of them still being boring haters.

      ReplyDelete
    78. @ropera
true, those teens werent what i like to call mature but i guess society has adapted to this AND THATS WHY MLP IS HERE!
i like to stick to myself too when at highschool so whenevr i need an extra dose of friendship and happiness I use mlp. luckily some of my friends are more understanding and have actually come to really like the show and that makes me proud
slowly I am seeing more people being added to the herd in my area and in time the world will be a much more lovely place to live in
...geez that's like the most I've written on here ever

      ReplyDelete
    79. for the most part I just wanna slap the majority of you with a fish saying "wheres all the love and Tolerance?"

      ReplyDelete
    80. seriously you guys got pretty sensitive
      ...over what shallow teenagers said

    81. Kids will be kids.

I was extraordinarily judgmental before MLP. This has been one of my most difficult personality metamorphoses, but also one of the most rewarding. I don't blame these kids for being the way they are, anyway.

      ReplyDelete
    82. They are judging it solely on the intro. Why not show them clips from the show. I sugest Party of one, Sonic rainboom or Lesson zero.

There judging a book buy it's cover.

      ReplyDelete
    83. I, as a matter of fact, am a teenager. I love this show. I put all of my effort into my sketches and drawings of ponies. I know nearly all of the songs. I was princess luna and my little sister was celestia for nightmare night! I am fully dedicated as a pegasister when i had just discovered the show last june. I am only 13 and i didn't have a single thought or opinion about, my little pony friendship is magic, until after the first episode was over. Instead of criticizing, i watched the show and was drawn in the second i saw pinkie pie. It was as if a sonic rainboom had sucked away all of the stress and sadness of life away. So dont anyone of you bronies judge either. I cannot and will not love or tolerate you being just as judgemental and critical about how teenagers are just so self conscious with such low morales and esteem that they would be like the teens in the video. Im 13 and i m dissappointed.

      ReplyDelete
    84. @Yours sincerely It's pretty obvious that they only showed them the intro for numerous reasons. First off, the Outtakes don't show anything actually in the show being shown to the kids, and second, if they had shown an episode to the kids, then TheFineBros would have definitely altered their cuts so as to show what happened.

Honestly, I'm more disappointed in the Brothers than anything else. It was their responsibility to get the truth, and all that resulted was a pretty obvious 15 minute search on Know Your Meme. Serously, telling the kids who worked on the show instead of just telling the audience with that banner thing would have been a good way to go.

      ReplyDelete
    85. Kinda expected this from this generation of kids. Personally As a 14 year-old, most boys are into FPS games so if someone were to find that one MW3 wallpaper of the mane 6 or the Battlefield 3/MLP comic, I'd say about 1/4 of the boys would immedeantly get curious. For the girls, slap on a picture of a pony in their favorite clothing brand or find or photoshop a picture of a "bad boy" with a 20% cooler T-shirt and they'll definitely get interested.

    89. These people fear what they don't understand, especially if the thing they're fearing is something that falls into "specific" gender groups. It is erroneous to assume that a person is indifferent or a troll because one is to like MLP. Though to those who were open to (or even the one who was to be tolerant towards) MLP are not ignorant and deserve a brohoof.

      ReplyDelete
    90. Oh those kids! Thinking hatin' is cool. Dey so 2010. Don't they know Love and Tolerate is the new hate and slander?

      ReplyDelete
    91. I think people should try watching the show first and then decide whether they like it or not. When I first watched it, even though I'm a girl, I scoffed at the theme and the title. But giving the show a chance, then I got addicted.

Now I dont think we should hate people or get all upset if people have seen the show and still don't like it. That is a choice, they gave it a try and its not there thing. I think so long as people can understand the good it does for children, little girls especially, and their parents, then I don't mind if they don't like it.

Heck, it even helps with allowing boys to be themselves and like what they like without the stigma of hurting their manhood. Though I think its better that girls finally have a good show on tv.

But yeah...giving up a date for the show...thats just a shitty bf/gf. Whether its ponies or Halo, if they neglect you constantly for such things they should be dumped.

      ReplyDelete
    92. It's more amusing that the commenters here are venting so much more negatively to the Teens Reaction reactions than those teens reacting to the show and bronies! Rage harder, guys.

The way I saw it, I think they got every possible reaction across the spectrum. There was people on board, people that hated it, and people in between. Seems like a fair sample to me. The reactions were quite normal from having haters to lovers and everything in between, kind of like, say, the initial 4chan reactions that eventually spawned?

If you guys are getting uptight over some of the negative reactions, then I think you need to work on your insecurities. If you like the show, you like the show. End of story. You don't have to justify it to anyone or call other people "close-minded" just because they aren't in love with the show. People are entitled to their opinions, and different people can have varying opinions.

    94. This video has made me realize that I need to stop caring about what others think when it comes to personal interests, especially when it concerns matters purely based on personal opinion or preference. So they don't like what you like, so what? There's always going to be others who will accept you not only out of common interest but for who you are, not just for expressing popular opinions or social norms. And for the people who do truly accept you, these people are your true friends.

...who knew? Learned a lesson about people and friendship from this video.

      ReplyDelete
    95. I dunno, I'm not that mad. I mean it was ONLY the theme song and as much as I love MLP:FiM, the theme song is very saccharine and girly and it can be off-putting to some.

(Not me though, I was totally like Devin intrigued by the animation and character designs)

Honestly though, I'd love to get Devin and Rumor (I think that was her name with the fedora) into being Bronies. They seem genuinely cool and friendly.

Though pretty much every other person interviewed was kind of awful regarding the brony fandom. I mean I can even say yeah I didn't expect the 3 most critical guys (Backwards cap guy, frosted Bieber hair guy, and blue shirt kid) to be open to the idea of it being entertaining. I knew they'd react the way they did before they even did. Who I WASN'T expecting to were the girls who reacted negatively. Talk about snobby and judgmental! Honestly, it makes me happier that I'm gay since I won't have to deal with girls who would think a harmless show I watch is a deal-breaker. I thought girls were more mature than guys are.

      ReplyDelete
    96. Also, I know they couldn't show the teens a whole episode since it would take too long, but I KNOW that they fall in love with or identify with at least one character no matter what episode they showed them. Showing them the 30 second theme doesn't get across how dynamic each character can be.

      ReplyDelete
    97. I defy ANY human being of ANY age to watch this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WImRs-nWW48 and then NOT believe that MLP:FiM is the coolest thing evah.

Go ahead. DEFY the coolness IF YOU DARE.

      ReplyDelete
    98. This is what I get for assuming that people of my age group will be open minded. Pure liquified disappointment. Those people are so ignorant. few things in the world disgust me more than ignorance. I hope these people mature one day. for their own good.

    100. Yes, teenagers are not the sharpest tools in the shed. They'll eventually develop thicker skin and learn to not care as much what people think of them.

Though if they were only shown the into it's slightly understandable. My first introduction to FiM was a SC II PMV and my first thought was "this is really well made" and the second was "some poor father had to sit through a few too many episodes of this". Then one day I was really bored and heard that it was actually a decent show, so I sat down and watched the 1st episode. It ended on the cliffhanger and wouldn't you know it, I actually wanted to know what happened next...then I watched the third episode, and the fourth, then declared to the internet that I was a brony.

    105. Um, guys? Teenagers are generally DEFINED by stupidity and close-mindedness. Surprised at the kid that's totally into it, though. He's obviously too cool for school.

The rest mostly seem shallow, insecure, annoying and insufferably smug and confident in their knowledge despite not knowing anything. In short: LIKE TEENAGERS.

Okay, apologies to any teenagers here. But I know I'm right because I was one for a while. And you know I'm right, too. And if you don't, you will in a few years. Ah, life.

"This was a totally loaded segment meant to elicit a reaction. They only showed them the intro and a few image macros. I'd say they probably, at max, did about 15 minutes of research for this, anything you can just grab off of the front page of Google or Google Images.

There was absolutely nothing positive about those questions, nor meant to be endearing. I especially cringed when they asked the dating question. What do you THINK they're going to say after building them up like that?

This is absolutely shameful, exploitative work, doubly so for a web-based series. I'd expect this sort of schlock from a TV network. Developers of a webseries have no excuse."

      ReplyDelete
    110. Please guys, don't mock the theme song, I know many people who embrace it and enjoy it, like what they've done with the rest of the show, also, part of the reason people like fim, is nostalgia, and a silly little theme just helps the nostalgia factor.

      ReplyDelete
    111. I personally find it really funny... because we have contributed more to society than these teenagers in there little teenage lives.

Seriously think of our honored brony service men (brohoof from australia great guards of your respective country, you deserve all the respect of your peers) and the various fundraisers and people we've brought joy to.

So all in all we shouldn't let it bother us, they don't impact majorly and we'll just keep growing and they can stop us. And props to the the older guy with earings he really showed maturity there.

    121. “Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”

    127. i got to say people like this show (at least i like it) because simply it is so light hearted. All the characters are so likeable. Dont get me wrong i love south park, robot chicken, and just about every other show like that but every now and then you need to watch something a bit more happy. I read a few days ago that the best way to describe this show is relentless. It is relentlessly happy, relentlessly optimistic, and relentlessly joyful. I started to watch it out of curiosity as to why such a show would be so popular and found by the end of ep2 I was hooked. Why should any one else care if some people watch MLPFIM they are not doing any harm so bugger off. Besides i feel the brony community is a vary friendly and easy to get along with community (from what i have seen. Probably because we all learn a fine lesson in friendship after each episode lol :)

    130. I think the FineBros, the ones who made all the kids and teens react videos are actually bronies.
this may sound odd, but look at the comments they post. i think in one they said something like fellow bronys or something like that.

what really depresses me isnt the video or the people hating on bronys or mlp. what depresses me is that i cant share this awesome community, this awesome feeling for ponies with any of my friends. i live in germany, and i think there are not that many people that watch mlp, even know it (kinda because of the really bad dubbing).
i dont know if they would understand if i told them i am a brony. i am not afraid of telling them or anything like that. but i just think they wouldnt understand.
this is the only bad part of this community. i mean i love to be part of it, in the internet, all bronys can unite. but in real life, i have no opportunities of sharing this, and this just makes me sad. the brony community should be acknowledged and respected. not just in the internet. but also in the outside world, just that i can be free and live happy with my favorite show.
i think everypony needs to be a bit like a brony

      ReplyDelete
    131. and one other thing. i saw a lot of ou saying "they are just teenagers, they dont understand". not all of them are the same. i am just 17 years old, and i really dont care what others think of me. i just do what i think is the best for me. not everyone is focused on just being popular. there are a lot, but there are guys that dont care ;)

    132. Well it doesn't really matter if they don't like it or not, the fact is that not everyone will get into it and that's just that. It doesn't affect us but knowing a majority of our brony community there will be a lot of people mad at the fact that they won;t get into the show.

    137. Xenophobia is defined as "an unreasonable fear of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange".[1] It comes from the Greek words ξένος (xenos), meaning "stranger," "foreigner" and φόβος (phobos), meaning "fear."

Xenophobia can manifest itself in many ways involving the relations and perceptions of an ingroup towards an outgroup, including a fear of losing identity, suspicion of its activities, aggression, and desire to eliminate its presence to secure a presumed purity.[3] Xenophobia can also be exhibited in the form of an "uncritical exaltation of another culture" in which a culture is ascribed "an unreal, stereotyped and exotic quality"

    141. They definitely could have improved the video.
      1) Show some good scenes that help explain why we love the cartoon in the first place! (Re-worded to avoid 3 'show's in the sentence.)
      2) Show some scenes that question the intended audience.
Good examples are: Sonic Rainbomb(Rainnuke, etc.), Fluttershy snapping a bear's neck, and so forth.
      3) Show the parodies and media the brony community has made.
Notable Youtube bronies: PinkiePieSwear, Archie V, WoodenToaster, BronyVids, etc.
This was a chance to show other teenagers, or anyone for that matter, why MLP:FiM has such a dedicated fanbase opposite of what the creators intended, but they didn't! They just showed the intro and some random captions. What a disappointment.

Absolutely they could have done better. They could have shown some 15-second clips, like AJ and Rainbow on the seesaw or Pinkie talking while Twilight chugs hot sauce, or RD saving Rarity and doing the Sonic Rainboom (most of the videos the kids watch are a minute or more). They could have mentioned the original artwork or musical compositions as the "main thing" rather than the captioned pictures. They could have asked better questions; saying "would you date a brony" is just baiting them into making a fool out fo themselves. And best of all, they could have /not/ played it off like they were doing a favor to the brony community when the video is basically a 7 minute hate speech against us.
