I don't think I have ever received so many emails about something before. Literally 70 between my two addresses. You guys really like this series don't you?
Also note how this is a show, not an intellectual debate. Those teens are in that show and they know that the purpose they are there for is to entertain people watching, and what better way than by your initial reaction and than sticking to it? I'm sure for many bronies here, they also didn't become bronies in an instant. If you look at the teens' point of view, being also under pressure with the camera and microphone, maybe you would of also shown negative reactions, instead showing the interest you have slowly being formed, but hardly identifiable in such a short time.
I am surprised they didn't know of us... They fail as teens if they don't know about the internet. Also, loving and caring and sharing and tolerating is considered TROLLING?...... I have lost faith in today's generation of stupid teens like those exist. Be a MAN? Whats a man anyways? Someone who drinks and watches stupid shit like SpikeTV? Pathetic... I want to know if they know people in the army also are bronies. Those teens don't deserve oxygen. That one brony yes. :P He is open minded.
That was pointless. They should've shown them at least one episode, since they obviously won't like it based on the intro alone. If that's the only thing I knew about it, I wouldn't understand why the show had a huge fanbase either.
Ugh, so many haters. But I guess I know where they're coming from. When I first saw the show I said that I was disappointed in the internet. Look at me now.
I bet each of those people would instantly hate Rarity for being shallow and vain. I really can't blame teens for disliking a show based on the visuals alone. So many people in this world judge things by only what they see. Would most Bronies want to watch another show that one of the voice actors did, even if it was a show intended for a preschooler(and not created by Lauren Faust)? I would, but not many would follow.
Sigh... To much to say on this. I'm a 15 year old female brony, and I must say, if I met a nice guy and found out he was also a brony, I would date the living SHIT out of him! But the teens of my generation are very close minded and judgmental, grasping at trying to be cool. Hopefully as they mature, they'll realize life isn't just about cloths, Call of Duty, and dropping curses like young and hip sailors. ^^ I only with they showed a couple clips, including Crazy Twilight/Pinkie or Fluttershy KOing the bar. And a soinc rainboom, nuke, or just something funny like Pinkie Pie's line on Rarity become a crazy cat lady, or ANYTHING. Maybe one of the short fan-videos I've seen that are only a minute long showing why MLP FIM is awesome with clips and music. I've seen some pretty sweet ones.
Overall, pretty biased, expected, and disappointing, but I feel bad for them. I'll be over here enjoying my ponies :D
(Thank god they didn't mention anything about clopping, or people would have judged our asses so hard we'd be getting hate mail within the second xDDD )
I still love you all, and I guess that's what really matters! BROHOOF BABY!
Haha! I loved how the personalites interviewed were as diverse as they come. Was pretty funny seeing their reactions. And hey, a few Bronies were made out of the deal.
I find it interesting that the boys here think they should control our lives by saying not to watch a show that they themselves have barely watched at all. I also really want to punch the guy who said we should watch something like Wipeout instead, which I find really stupid.
I thought the series was Kids React?? Aww... I don't care what a bunch of teenagers have to say. I wanted to see little girls SQUEE over the show and little boys be repulsed or go "it's... okay but I'm NOT watching it again!"
That was kinda stupid. Some of them were accepting, some were okay with it, and the ones that weren't were assholes about it. So.. normal enough for teenagers, I suppose.
I'm not a violent person by nature, but such sweeping generalizations sparked a deeply hidden urge to get drunk and try to brawl the little twerps.
The one that was all for it was kinda funny, though. And I especially liked the girl who said yes to the "Would you want to be a boy, just so that you could be a brony?" question. That was awesome.
Yeah. I guess I can see why this made it on here, but it was kinda stupid.
@SonicRatchet Well, as a fellow 18 year old I can tell you that there is no need to feel old really, even before 18 I clearly knew that opinion from teenagers is going to mostly be something somewhat biased. As of everything else, I agree with you 100%
It's sad to see how closed minded some people can be.
With the promotion of prejudice comes haters. With haters, they form the hatedom. Amongst the hatedom will most likely be a few dangerous people who know how to shut down a major site or two.
But meh... that would be unlikely to ever happen... right? /'love&tolerance(?)'
I'm not a brony, but that's because I'm not much of a joiner. I watch MLP:FiM however, and I'm a frequent visitor to this site. And why? Because of a maturing taste for good fantasy. How could I resist? Seriously. It's not every day you see a TV cartoon that's created with such care, art, wit and heart (I rhymed!!!). And, in my opinion, THAT'S why older kids and adults love MLP:FiM so much. To me, enjoying MLP:FiM is akin to enjoying Disneyland and Harry Potter and the Wizard of Oz. It's all well-done fantasy, and well-done fantasy appeals to ALL ages.
One of my favorite fantasy authors, C.S. Lewis, wrote this dedication in his first Narnia book, "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe":
"To Lucy Barfield
My Dear Lucy,
I wrote this story for you, but when I began it I had not realized that girls grow quicker than books. As a result you are already too old for fairy tales, and by the time it is printed and bound you will be older still. But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again. You can then take it down from some upper shelf, dust it, and tell me what you think of it. I shall probably be too deaf to hear, and too old to understand a word you say, but I shall still be your affectionate Godfather,
C.S. Lewis"
In my opinion, it takes living a bit of real life to really understand and recognize good fantasy, and how much we all need it in our lives.
@Sunset Great, currently I have three: Pinkamina Diane Pie (it was in her profile already), hoverhoof, who is my current second hoof (or was it fifth hoof?), and now you! Well anyways you can start now, I'm going to need a bath prepared, whether or not you want to scare the attendants of my sister about it is up to you.
Just to fix up one thing you said, MOST teens aren't a good judge of Character. I'm 15 and I quite willingly gave this show a chance. Albeit, a little late (Lesson Zero's release day was my first day :/).
Anyway, I can see most of my school sharing opinions with the haters.
They really should've tried harder, by that I mean shown better examples of the brony community and an episode clip instead of the girly intro. And definatley clips of parody animations, which is how peple become bronies to begin with.
I was pretty much laughing at the opinion of those closed minded ones. Once I've heard their first thoughts I just directly knew I couldn't take them seriously.
If something motivates you and makes you happy then there is NOTHING wrong with it... unless its something sadistic or etc then yeah your pretty messed up :P
@Sunset *hands map* Here, just don't go near any of the gates because the guards are very protective and will keep you waiting until you've spilled out everything you know to them. Good luck, tell them I'll be there in about ten minutes.
Wow, most of those kids make me ashamed to (technically) be one of them. Devin was cool, as was Lia, and Isaac seemed to be okay.
Seemed to be largely a show of stereotypes if I'm being honest. It'd probably more interesting if they brought in a few actual bronies to explain it to them, then even the haters might understand it a bit better.
the point here is for us to observe teen stereotypes, not the teens seeing memes. the whole idea is to see teen stereotypes react to memes in their stereotype ways...
But I must say... THANK you teens react for making me realize that tonorrow i need to tell ALL off my friends that I'M a brony, so I can see who are my real friends!
Teenagers are either too closed-minded or afraid of getting embarrassed in front of others to ever give it a try just because it looks unmanly. That's pretty much how most people would react upon seeing this material. But it was really funny to see one guy conclude that all bronies are in fact trolls. Yup, that explains a lot, we're all trolling each other :D
They only showed the intro? What the hell? Even I don't like the intro. It's standard cutesy little girl's BS. Get a good episode in there and let's see how they react.
Also, how the hell are you a teenager in 2012 and you don't have enough knowledge of the internet to know what MLP is? That doesn't even seem possible.
I am the 21-year old assistant instructor of a Krav Mcgaw dojo, a freerunner, and getting married to my high school sweetheart. I'm short, one of the manliest men you will ever meet. And those little maggots are telling me that I should be ashamed? I'll make all the guys that act like this a bet: arm wrestle. If they win, I will delete all the pony on my computer, and stop drawing pony untill my girlfriend specifically requests it. If they win, they have to buy and watch the entirety of Season One. Fair? Ok, I'll pack away my Fluttershy plushie, too. Come at me, bro.
I thought this was gonna be a reaction to the pilot or at least a single episode, once I realized this was just to the intro I sorta changed my expectations to what happened. Although the guy that became insta-brony kinda scared me a little, and the troll kid was hilarious because when he posts that on face book, he's probably gonna have at least one friend who actually is a brony that's gonna come out to him and he's gonna be like, "Naw it's okay I know you're just trolling" but then his friend will be like "What the hell are you talking about?"
Anyways, I never heard of this show before, but I think they should try to do it again, but with actually showing a full episode. Obviously they can't show all the reactions over 22 minutes, but I'd bet they'd probably get some completely different ones. Besides they clearly stated that we shouldn't suggest they watch moar pony, so clearly that's what they should do.
Oh come on y'all, think of it statistically: Ten subjects with little to no prior knowledge of MLP are shown just the intro sequence, and a few little tidbits of information about bronies, and this results in one full-on conversion to the herd? That is outstanding! A ten percent base communicability rate, if you will.
Now, take into account that about three of the others are at least sympathetic to our side, and it is likely that at least one of them will give in as well; this gives a 20% conversion rate. We should be so lucky to get such a rate even under optimal conditions! For example: expose all of New York state to the show. With a population just shy of 20 million people, this would mean four million more bronies. Even taking age group into consideration - call it 10% of the population - that is still 400,000.
I'd say that, regardless of presentation, this joke of a show was a rousing success for all things pony.
@Princess That's not nice. She doesn't treat you like you should be treated. She's treating you like one of those mares in ponytales that can never go out because of their mean sisters or mother.
So I see that the majority of the comments here are negative responses to this Teens React episode. I just have to say, I watched this, and I laughed. This was really funny! Maybe I was laughing at their ignorance of the show's excellence? Or maybe I was laughing at the fact that the Rainbow Dash on my screen decided to fall asleep right in front of the red hoodie guy's face when he was speaking.
Whatever the reason, this was a funny show, and though the reaction was generally negative, it was still a nod towards bronies! If I had watched this without knowing what MLP:FiM was, I would be like "What? Older guys liking this show? Ridiculous. But what makes them like it...? I want to go check this out. See for myself."
This Teens React episode, in the end, will just bring more people into the brony community.
@Sunset It's actually worse...she's treating me like a foal. Regardless it was my fault that the spell failed and things would have been the other way around if it succeeded, so I imagine this is just her punishment. It is still rather demeaning...
Fun fact: There was this teenager on the Bronies Facebook group who thought we were kinda creepy and weird, and wondered what the hell was up with us. So I told him why we like the show. Then a short time later he contacts me, telling me he's a brony now after watching a few episodes. So there may still be hope for these kids.
@Princess Everypony makes mistakes. I don't think you need to be punished. I wish I could talk to her about this, but I really would dislike being sent to the moon. Oh, your bath is ready by the way.
You have to account for a fact that the sample of teens in the video is in no way stratified to reflect to composition of society and it is a relatively small sample compared to the 400,000 you talk about. Therefore that won't necessarily be true.
It would make a good study if we were to expose about 100 or maybe even 1,000 random teenagers to a few episodes, guarantee anonymity, and ask if they would like to see more of the series. That should give us a decent rate of conversion to the herd.
This has annoyed me greatly i could go on for hours saying how annoyed i am right now, they should not judge a show for the intro that is outrageously immature *Note* I'm 13 and a hardcore brony and i disapprove of that video.
Thank you! The positive thing at least to come out of it is more exposure to the show. Cause you can say there's no such thing as bad publicity, especially when that channel has over a million subscribers.
Wow my generation is either ignorant or just plain stupid. Also c'mon just the intro the intro is not whAt made me love the shoelw it was the actual episode. Comes down to two things. Bad director and mostly ignorant teenagers except for those two teens they atleast understood it a little. At best the other ones are just stereotypical. But as they say haters gonna hate
I'm so glad oppressive gender roles are still firmly entrenched in America's youth. "Why would guys want to watch this? Because they want to be little girls?" Yes, clearly men can't enjoy anything feminine without becoming gay and/or female. Effing facehoof.
a lot of these kids are just plain weird... their reactions man... too subtle and barren with little understanding at all.
Another thing to point out is how the comment system is being strictly controlled. Zero criticism is allowed. That's absolute BS what kind of person is that unfair with his own videos not being open to any criticism.
There is so much criticism I want to play out against this so called "public opinion" program.
BS it's just absolute BS. Screw the guys who made this video. It's a downright unfair representation of public opinion.
Damn, I hope they showed them more than the intro song. I admit it, I HATE THAT INTRO SONG. It drips sugary girly cliche and vomits the pink rainbow stereotype of the archetypical little 5-8 year old girl mentality. Its not a good representation of the rest of the show.
Now guys, don't get defensive! However close minded, those are very underdeveloped and knee-jerk opinions! Do NOT get judgmental and argumentative, because doing so just works against the image of the community. The worst way to help your case is to yell and decry others opinions about things on the internet.
Considering the information they were supplied, their reactions were understandable for the most part (except for that asian hipster prick, that was seriously uncalled for and excessive).
All the same, I love seeing responses like this. To be able to step in front of all the criticism and simple stand there, taking it in stride, and providing an un-antagonized, level-headed and reasonable response to the criticisms is a good feeling to me. It defuses the opposition, and its not like I define my existence based on MLP. I can take the jabs at the show, but its when they start judging my character based on the show that I take issue, and I would not let the insults take me down, and would tell the detractors as much: they are being shallow by judging a person or group of people based entirely on a single thing they enjoy that they did not make and only enjoy.
THE BEST RESPONSE TO CLOSE MINDED OPINIONS AND COMMENTS IS TO REMAIN OPEN MINDED YOURSELF! DON'T TAKE A STANCE OF OPPOSITION AS THOUGH ITS A PERSONAL AFFRONT TO YOU.
Still, the one kid who thought we were all trolls was... gah. His first reaction, knee-jerk as it was, was right - we just like it for the show. He reminds me a bit too much of a guy I went to school with, in face and personality. And that guy was horribly obnoxious.
The big guy with the earrings was cool, though. We need more kids like that in the world.
As for girlfriends... well, that's a pity. One of my oldest friends is a brony, and he and his girlfriend (now fiance) watch MLP together. If you can't stand your significant other watching a TV show that you don't like, and you break up with them over it, you weren't ready for a relationship to begin with. It's a show, it's not a big deal. Real couples understand that.
And at least we converted one of the teens to the fandom. Let's just hope he doesn't stumble across the... er... questionable content some of us have generated.
we cant blame the people thiking its a girly show and yet the message is just hidden. so yea cant blame them for their low self esteem for a show like it this, no offense to some that has any.
@Silver_Wing Absolutely, I just didn't want to go into the complexities of actual statistics. But seriously, even two-tenths of a percent - 0.02% is 4000. Compare this to the recent Brony Census world population of ~9,500.
But that is all beside the point: that there was any support at all, much less a full conversion, is what matters. They can't stop the pony, just sayin'. :)
I'm 16 years old and at first I was like them. I was thinking that bronies were just trolls, or even that they were stupid freaks.
But then I watch the first episode...
The teens in this video can't really judge. It's just a question of their tolerance. The older black guy was tolerant, the girl with the hat and the fat one (sorry) were too. You need to see a full episode to understand why MLP:FiM is so popular.
(I'm sorry if I made some mistakes. I am French Canadian.)
2) a girl willing to defend bronies even if she doesn't like the show
3) a cool dude that might never take another look at the show, but is open-minded enough to still respect and understand bronies
When you think about it, those kids saw the show out of context. They saw the girly opening, and a few of our low-grade images from the early days of the fandom.
If they'd seen some clips from good episodes (FLUTTERSHY AND THE BEAR) they might have reacted differently. Hell, I know they would have.
That one kid converted way to fast(it sounds so weird saying that, sounds like we're a religion.) I think he already knew of ponies, no one react like that to just the intro.
The opinions/ 'extremely hurtful criticism' of a few select teens* really dose not matter to anyone. The mane thing is that this is spreading awareness and how we work with it decides the out come. WE ARE GETTING AIR TIME! SWEET!
Meh, you could tell they were just being "cool" I bet if they looked into the community they'd change their minds. Especially the "they're all trolls" guy. That was him wanting to be a brony but not be judged.
But, remember. Love and Tolorate them. They may change. Maybe... Or not.. Hmm
@LockeDrachier I take comfort in the fact that I could take all of these idiotic Justin Bieber and/or 'gangsta' wannabes into a ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I cut wood with an axe and hand-saw and carry 100 lb logs 1/2 a mile ON MY SHOULDERS because I think chain saws are for pussies! AND I LIKE PONY! Now all you whiny teenage douche-bags best watch yourselves, cuz I'm gonna love and tolerate you to a pulp, BEEEYATCHES!!
Those reactions are pretty understandable if you are only shown the intro and none of the episodes or community work. I thought they were just using the intro to set them up and then were going to bring in Fluttershy killing the bear. But no, just an incredibly obvious hatchet job.
I'd echo the doubts about how teenagers can be the that ignorant of the internet to not know what MLP is, but I've met people who've only vaguely heard of Star Wars, and I was visiting a high school class recently where nobody had ever heard of "Yo dawg I heard you like x" memes.
Sums up every reaction perfectly.. The guy who falls in love with show upon seeing intro (me). Girl who may or may not be a brony but still supports us. The guy who doesn't like it but is like what ever im not going to judge.. The guy who thinks we are trolls and does the chans. And then the girls who are so much like stereotype teenagers that it isn't even funny (i mean really look what our culture has done to them kinda sad)
This brings back some memories, since I completely understand what it's like to have reacted in a similar way to the show when I first heard about its popularity. If all you're given is the opening to view, then of course you're not going to understand why the show is popular among male audiences (let alone take a shine to it yourself). I'd have liked to see them display a clip of the show instead and get a reaction. Something like say Pinkie Pie losing her mind (which is the clip I always show when introducing the series). That offers a little more accurate image of the gags which make the show such a sleeper hit. That said, "Teens React" isn't meant to be serious; just amusing.
Well, there's a reason this series is "Teens React" and not "Grown Adults React". You're naturally going to get stronger, more over-the-top reactions to things from a group of people at the point in their lives when they're most desperate to appear manly/mature/cool than you would from a bunch of adults. That one kid whose response was "It's not my thing, but it's fine for people to like it, I guess"? Totally not what this series is about. It's also the reason they showed the kids the opening theme only: the name of the game is inspiring the most extreme reactions possible.
I don't blame them for reacting the way they did. They're teenagers, and I know that when I was a teenager I was dumb, judgmental and desperate not to stand out too much. Not that I'm tarring all teenagers with this brush, but it is the time of your life when this behavior is most understandable.
If you make it to your mid twenties and you're still acting like this? Then you have a problem.
@ColoradoMillenium Which is why I never had 'friends' in high school. They were so intellectually degenerate compared to me, I was disgusted by the lot of them. Oh how I LOVED crushing the grade curve for them! Troll lol lol! >:D And naturally, this made me the 'nerd'. But, poor bullies, I was also stronger than most of them too. Yes, I am truly a superior form of life, a highly evolved super-being. Who likes pony! Rejoice, my bronies and pegasisters, for you share a trait with me, indicating YOUR superiority to the mundanes! Join the Solar Empire now and aid our illustrious illuminated Princess of the Sun in crushing... I mean... loving and tolerating the unwashed masses into submission! >:}
>Is a man. >Is 19. >Has girlfriend (who loves that I styled her Rainbow Dash to be show-accurate like mine.) >Can bench roughly 180-200lbs.
I destroyed most of the intolerances of these people alone... And I know there are older, married folks, and younger, more tolerant folks that watch the show as well that could destroy the rest.
It's pretty whatever, though. Getting into a fanbase like this is bound to draw misunderstandings and those trying to throw humiliation at you. I just laugh those folks off.
Don't worry cause you know most of them went home to start watching on YouTube. Having to sit thru my sister watchin MLP G1 back in the day to get to my shows, of course i was critical about all of it for the past 20+ years. Even when FIM came up last year, i cared to know nothing about it
"Damn this MLP thing wont it die already"
Surfin channels this past summer, i caught a glimpse of this Pink pony throttling the living daylights out of a rubber chicken. That raised an eyebrow but i still didn't care to watch. Some how within the next week, it was this "Pinkie Pie" that keep popping up as i channel surfed. And i was finding all these pony sigs and avatar icons in forum post all thru the net. It was "Bridle Gossip" that i decided to see what this was all about. A few more eps and all the art and memes on the net, and now ive got series recording on U verse.
When i comes to fandom, "Sonic Soldier" was the only title i carried over the past 20 years and for me to hold anything to the high regards i give Sonic is no ez feat; for being such an intelligently produced and written show with friendship morale's and doesn't resort to the common lowbrow slapstick that plagues most cartoons these days, FIM is up there on the pedestal with em now.
@Niko Sad to say, most of those twits probably are still in the camp that worship Obama at a shrine. I can tell just by looking at them. Most of the Obama-supporting teens I've run across, before Pony even came to be, were more judgmental, narrow-minded, and illogical than any number of right-wing fundies I've also battled.
Fact: Except for the geeks and nerds, teens are stupid. It's why we don't let them vote. They actually enjoy things like "Twilight" and Justin Bieber. That alone is all the proof needed to demonstrate the lack of cerebral activity.
Why does anyone even listen to or care what teenagers think, anyway? I could not possibly give fewer fucks about these losers' opinions if I tried. There's a reason I hated middle and high school - a sizeable percentage of teenagers are self-centered, vindictive, judgmental and obnoxious, to varying degrees. Or, if you prefer the Star Wars interpretation, they are weak-minded. They either think they know everything or are too easily influenced by peer pressure, rendering them incapable of considering anything objectively, and they likewise feel no guilt in viciously tearing other people down. Hence, the general jerkery in this video, particularly by several of the guys. It's honestly a miracle that roughly half of teenagers aren't strangled to death by their parents before they reach adulthood.
Those reactions are really interesting because they are teens. MlP was designed for children and is good enough to entertain adults. Teens are mostly children trying to prove to the world, and to themselves, that they are grown up.
Being a teenager is not only a matter of years, there's a big part of mindset, how you think and consider the world around you, and I'm pretty confident a lot of bronies were teens who grew up when they discovered MlP.
It's normal that most of them can't believe it and see that as shameful, because they are teens. I can only hope they will grow up, with oe without MlP :)
Eh.. Kids react is cool (small children give the BEST answers), but Teens React is like a bad spinoff TV show.
Plus, letting them watch ONLY the intro? The intro is not an accurate representation of the entire show, so judging by intro alone is foalish (Bridle Gossip, anypony?) Why didn't they choose the climatic scene from "Sonic Rainboom" or the FlutterPsycho scene from "Best Night Ever"? What about scenes from "Dragonshy", "Lesson Zero", or even "Party of One"?
It seems to me that the people who run this wanted to influence the teens' opinions by omitting the things that the majority of us love about the show. It was the show that made me a brony, not the theme tune (in fact, it took me until the end of S1 to finally like the intro).
Then they asked questions relating to the fanbase such as ponibooru. Bear in mine that these teens had only seen captioned images, and so it becoms heaily implied that ponibooru is just an image center for macros. If they're going to dig up macros, and are internet savvy enough to know of ponibooru, then they could've found some fan art to show the teens too. But they didn't, and the teen's reactions are the result.
That being said, I can't stay angry at the teenagers themselves (though a couple of them were real douches) because they were reacting through honesty. What they had seen was a theme song about magical, talking ponies experiencing friendship being played to clips of cute cartoon characters. They didn't have the luxury of "meeting" these ponies, or witnessing some of the community's favourite scenes from the show. All they got was as little information as possible, so I can't say I blame them for reacting the way they did.
That said, that girl with the fedora hat, and the bloke who seemed really interested in the sow get bonus points for getting past the 'shock factor' and seeing the harmlessness in watching the show. An honourable mention also goes to the black guy who, while not keen on the idea of this fanbase existing, said that he "wasn't gonna hate", that takes some effort.
If anything, I'm ashamed to be part of your generation. For serious, 50% of those statements were unbelievably stupid. I just... no. Devin was pretty cool, Isaac was pretty cool as well, as he didn't go out and asume that everyone that liked this was either a troll or just an idiot that should "get a life" or cash in their man card.
But the rest... especially that guy with the cap and the guy that didn't have any idea about what a troll is, just no. No. I feel bad for you. Your parents must have raised you badly.
You either love or hate the show. If you like the show than you are probably the majority of people that are comfortable with their self image. That being said i personally do not think MLP Fim is anywhere near the the best series in the world. I love this fandom because of all the wonderfully talented bronies in it. It's a shame that so many people do not give things a try because they are afraid of what others think.

Good point. Just watching the intro doesn't tell you squat. Show them Lesson Zero and THEN see if they still consider this a typical show for little girls.
There is a phrase I like to use in situations like these: "to each their own."
Though, admittedly I was foolishly trying to turn a blind eye to the stuff during its first year; only in late 2011 (partially because my brother told me about it) did I actually pay attention to the show itself; soon afterwards, two of my best friends (both 20s, both grad students like myself) got into it, which affirmed my decision.
Strangely, though, it struck at around the same time as I started getting interested in the more esoteric fields, particularly tarot divination. It made me gain my own unique perspective on the show; now my friends and I are discussing things like the correspondences between the Major Arcana and the Elements of Harmony, possible zodiac analogs in the Equestrian night sky, comparisons between the number of chakras a pony has (6, as opposed to our 7), and even the differences between aura distributions of pegasi, unicorns, and earth ponies.
I'm surprised they were completely oblivious to this. I stumbled across MLP through sites I frequent. Then again, I'm a geek and I go to geeky places and websites, so I don't know.
these teens are very child like themselves. Cartoons are aimed at kids, but tend to have content that adults can like two, just because someone likes my little pony does not make them any less tough than any other man. We are not trolls we are a group of people who identify with a show like how trekies identify with star trex and how furries identify with animals, liking something and posting pictures and fan content relating to it does not mean your are a troll. well theres my 2 cents on this.
K... Kid in the Striped shirt.. MOTHA BUCKING BROHOOF! every one else just... no. I mean it ain't for everyone I understand but atleast watch a full episode. other than that I couldn't give a damn
I remember watching some videos from Kids React, they did Nyan Cat and Double Rainbow Guy (not the song). The kids were hilarious with their answers.
Small children can look upon almost anything and give a brutally honest opinion without batting an eyelid at what happen as a result.
In context of FiM, small shildren would seem a bit biased because of the show's target audience. But then again, hearing reactions from boys about the show, and reactions from all of the children upon learning that quite a lot of adults find this to be their favourite show would be interesting.
Even though this is supposed to be a serious suggestion,I think it practically begs for the following statement.
"Yo dawg! We heard you like reaction videos, so we made a reaction video of a reaction video so you can react to the teens reacting while watching the bronies reacting to the teens' reactions!"
Well...shit. So many people watch that series. I can't believe this, I won't be able to check EQD at school anymore cause now people will already be prejudiced. Dang, how am i supposed to keep up with so much pony?
Look I'm understand hating bronies for trolling or something but this stereotyping is not okay.
What's interesting to me about bronie hate is that if I (27 year old male) wore a sponge bob shirt and had sponge bob stuff people would just be like "Yup, that stoner kid really likes sponge bob" But as soon as I wear pony stuff and pink there is a problem.
"It's kind of a disgrace to us (men), it's like a slap in the face"
"You shouldn't be considered a guy"
This is really damaging to not just to bronies but to all genders and to gender equality as a whole. This kind of stereotyping reenforces gender roles and impedes equality. These male stereotypes being reinforced also effect women's rights as a masculine stereotype assumes the opposite isn't true which is just the nature of all stereotypes.
Gender stereotyping is damaging and we need to be aware that this knee jerk reaction to guys not fitting the masculine stereotype is a problem.
It's sad, yes. But I for one am not gonna let the bastards grind me down and am instead going to be happy with the things I enjoy. It'll be like a crusade against the unjustified hate within the generation just because someone doesn't fit the mould.
When I'm older, I'll tell my nephews and nieces about this (I don't plan on having children, my family is huge already, grandchildren from all six children will probably be the end of my parents), and hopefully that'll help the next generation a little bit to not suck.
They didn't just show the intro they would've screened an episode. But because they have a slight time constraint and hasbro being YouTube bitches they wouldn't have it all shown.
Wow. Those girls who say they'd never date a brony? They are such close-minded little snots. The guys, I can understand where they're coming from (even if they are ignorant as hell). But the girls? NO EXCUSES.
Dear Lord... Forget about My Little Pony for just one minute. Are you telling me that there is a series of videos about a bunch of pretentious teenagers "reacting" to memes and internet phenomenon? Holy hell, son, these little shits have no goddam right to criticize ANYTHING on the internet, be it trolls, lolcats, My Little Pony, or any of the sort.
I'm not offended in any way personally, but what's the point of all these positive articles that are made when there are actual vids like this and FOX News tarnishing our name?
okay it has to be alright to say that the "troll" kid is not a brony. one does not simply ironically like ponies. and really asian guy with highlights and pink shirt we aren't real men look at yourself.
At 6:00 I just felt to punch him in the face! But seriously, It's people like him that are haters and don't want anyone to behave different. It's not like persons are forced to only do things specified for their gender and age. And just because he/she is a Brony doesn't mean that it's the only thing they like to do. In my case: I work out at the gym 3-4 times a week, but I also watch and love My little pony Friendship is magic
@Scarbird Agreed, good sir. I, and most of my brony friends, are in the age range of 13-16. makes one sad, doesn't it? that we have to live in the lousy generation
I was about to say "Are people, especially teenagers, oblivious to ponies taking over the internet? Then someone posted
alanthewhite said... Dear Lord... Forget about My Little Pony for just one minute. I love that guy and girl who are so positive about it :D
The rest is just clueless, but to be honest: I would have the exact same reaction. You just have to know the community, learn to put your stereotypical ideas aside and just judge it from a critical point of view :D Then they will realise Bronies and MLP FIM is awesome :3
Comments such as "They should have shown them a full episode" are missing the point of this video. This was not supposed to be an exercise in mutual understanding. It was supposed to be teens wincing at things they found threatening.
I gotta admit i'm feeling quite upset about this. but at the end of the day what does there opinion there just a bunch of teens they picked off the street after all. :/
What was the point of even making this if they didn't even bother showing them a full episode?Of course if all you see is the opening you're going to think "This mess is for little girls"(I'm a female brony and even I thought that when I first saw the opening).
They also didn't bother to tell them why the show is so popular and who made the show. Also that kid in the red hoodie that thinks bronies are trolls is being a troll himself. He's judging an entire group of people that he knows almost nothing about. They also failed to tell them that they're female bronies too.
This was a terrible report or whatever you want to call it.Wasting their time on a bunch of teenagers who think they're cool by saying that bronies are not real men.Well guess what,I'd rather be with a guy who's not afraid to what a girls show if he thinks it's a good show than with someone who makes fun of people they don't know just because they like a cartoon. Some of those kids were being pretty reasonable though(like the girl who wanted to be a brony, the guy who thought it was cool and the tall African American guy).
I don't know why people see bronies as such a taboo just because it's guys liking a girl's show. It's ok for girls to like guy shows but not the other way around? The FIM fandom is no different from any other fandom.
I don't hold all that much against the neighsayers here as I'm pretty sure I'd be among the people wondering what the deal was if I was shown only the intro with no further idea into it given my previous hatred of the MLP franchise (and I still do find the intro music to be ever so embarrassing that I just usually skip it). Though if I was told of the huge male following, I'd at least be interested in knowing where this came from and would at the very least take a look at some of the episodes to make up my own mind before dismissing fans as being non-men with no life.
And yes, I indeed was a big skeptic not ever intending to give the light of day to a MLP series had it not been for some people I knew prompting me to investigate FiM in the first place. Without them I probably still wouldn't have watched a single episode of it on my own, and would continue to hold a poor opinion on any franchise entry, even FiM, just based on MLP's history and notoriety as a shallow girls' alternative toy commercial to Transformers.
"They're trolling! They are trolls! They are so trolling! I won't watch it but I might post it on Facebook... you know, like 'U mad? U mad bro?'" <-- LOL!
Bronies give love and tolerance to the people who deserve it but that doesnt necessarily mean everyone. These "teens" are the stereotype of today's younger generations.
I am a brony and proud of it. I'm nice to all the people who deserve it and believe most of the teens in this video are idiots and would tell them off anytime.
That entire video was cringe-worthy. The macaroni comment caused me physical pain. That Isaac guy seems like a really cool guy though. More people should think like him.
if these kids were to give 1 ENTIRE episode a chance, their opinions would be COMPLETELY different. If I just watched the intro and nothing more I would never be the brony that I am today.
Yes, if they wanted to give the kids proper context they would have shown an entire episode. Do they generally show anything longer than a few minutes, though?
What did everyone think was the most absurd reaction? I have to go with metrosexual Asian kid. The entire time he was attacking people's masculinity, I just kept thinking about how funny that was coming from somebody in a pink shirt.
Haters gonna hate but that was just pitiful. Only the intro? I'll bet anything that they all went home, got tons of hate mail, watched the full episode, loved it, tried to become bronies, but were rejected because everyone hates them now.
Why even care? :P I thought it was fun (really cracked up at times), and I really can't take anything the negative ones said to heart even if I try. Why even care about what they think, yknow?
There are 6 kinds of attitudes towards Bronies/MLP:
1)Bronies are the cancer of the internet GTFO! 2)Bronies are hobos. 3)I do not know why do they watch this show... 4)Poniez are lolz. 5)You are original! keep doing that! 6)There is nothing wrong with watching my little pony!
@SonicRatchet I really do agree with you on that one. I told my friends(most of them are juniors in high school) that I was a Brony, and they just told me that I was a freak and I need to grow up. I'm so glad that the Brony community has welcomed me with open arms. Unlike anything I've ever experienced. We need to love and tolerate, though.
An obvious 15 minute research of Google and Google Images... Oh well, at least the word is spreading and people are getting curious of the show so we're still continuing to grow at the same amazingly fast rate.
If bronies are the cancer of the Internet, I suppose by now we qualify metaphorically as Stage IV osteosarcoma with multiple liver, brain, and lung metastases... in other words, NO WAY TO STOP US NOW!! >:D
*no one can out-troll the troll king!* Your troll-fu is weak and floppy, young ones!

I bet all theses teens have YouTube accounts- so we should bombard them with pony videos!
ReplyDeleteI swear if they heard DJ Alex S and other amazing artist in our fandom, the would really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteAlso note how this is a show, not an intellectual debate. Those teens are in that show and they know that the purpose they are there for is to entertain people watching, and what better way than by your initial reaction and than sticking to it?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure for many bronies here, they also didn't become bronies in an instant.
If you look at the teens' point of view, being also under pressure with the camera and microphone, maybe you would of also shown negative reactions, instead showing the interest you have slowly being formed, but hardly identifiable in such a short time.
I hope this doesn't sound like spam to anypony, but does anypony want to join the lunar cabinet?
ReplyDeleteI am surprised they didn't know of us... They fail as teens if they don't know about the internet.
ReplyDeleteAlso, loving and caring and sharing and tolerating is considered TROLLING?......
:P He is open minded.
lock them in a room and make them watch all the eps and then see what thay say
ReplyDelete@Princess Luna
ReplyDeleteMay I? I feel like I've talked to you enough to gain your trust?
That was pointless. They should've shown them at least one episode, since they obviously won't like it based on the intro alone. If that's the only thing I knew about it, I wouldn't understand why the show had a huge fanbase either.
ReplyDeleteUgh, so many haters. But I guess I know where they're coming from. When I first saw the show I said that I was disappointed in the internet. Look at me now.
ReplyDeleteI bet each of those people would instantly hate Rarity for being shallow and vain. I really can't blame teens for disliking a show based on the visuals alone. So many people in this world judge things by only what they see. Would most Bronies want to watch another show that one of the voice actors did, even if it was a show intended for a preschooler(and not created by Lauren Faust)? I would, but not many would follow.
ReplyDeleteSigh...
ReplyDeleteTo much to say on this.
I only with they showed a couple clips, including Crazy Twilight/Pinkie or Fluttershy KOing the bar.
ReplyDelete@Sunset Oh sorry I was busy, yes, you can work here, now first off, what position is preferable?
ReplyDeleteThe guy in the red sweater is my mortal enemy.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that the boys here think they should control our lives by saying not to watch a show that they themselves have barely watched at all. I also really want to punch the guy who said we should watch something like Wipeout instead, which I find really stupid.
ReplyDeleteI thought the series was Kids React?? Aww... I don't care what a bunch of teenagers have to say. I wanted to see little girls SQUEE over the show and little boys be repulsed or go "it's... okay but I'm NOT watching it again!"
ReplyDeleteThis says more about the teenagers than it does about us. I found it kind of funny.
ReplyDelete@Princess
ReplyDeleteWhat are the positions that are available?
@James Corck
ReplyDeleteThey make money off of it.
Your point is invalid.
I actually want to kill every one of them...Love and tolerate, my friends-_-
ReplyDeleteYeah..
ReplyDeleteThat was kinda stupid.
@Sunset There's guard, servant, advisor, chef, and any other position for the various needs you can think of.
ReplyDelete@SonicRatchet
ReplyDeleteWell, as a fellow 18 year old I can tell you that there is no need to feel old really, even before 18 I clearly knew that opinion from teenagers is going to mostly be something somewhat biased. As of everything else, I agree with you 100%
It's sad to see how closed minded some people can be.
@Princess
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd love to be your servant.
With the promotion of prejudice comes haters.
ReplyDeleteWith haters, they form the hatedom.
Amongst the hatedom will most likely be a few dangerous people who know how to shut down a major site or two.
But meh... that would be unlikely to ever happen... right? /'love&tolerance(?)'
@MachinimistLuke
ReplyDeleteOh they do? I didn't know that.
However, this is still harmless. If anything, they are the ones looking silly in the video.
My take on MLP:FiM and its amazing fandom:
ReplyDeleteI'm not a brony, but that's because I'm not much of a joiner.
I shall probably be too deaf to hear, and too old to understand a word you say, but I shall still be your affectionate Godfather,
C.S. Lewis"
In my opinion, it takes living a bit of real life to really understand and recognize good fantasy, and how much we all need it in our lives.
they should really watch the whole episode instead of the intro
ReplyDeleteI want to slap these kids so hard... But that is not what Fluttershy would do, so I will rage quietly..
ReplyDelete@Sunset Great, currently I have three: Pinkamina Diane Pie (it was in her profile already), hoverhoof, who is my current second hoof (or was it fifth hoof?), and now you! Well anyways you can start now, I'm going to need a bath prepared, whether or not you want to scare the attendants of my sister about it is up to you.
ReplyDeleteI love that one of the guys became insta-brony
ReplyDelete@SonicRatchet
ReplyDeleteJust to fix up one thing you said, MOST teens aren't a good judge of Character. I'm 15 and I quite willingly gave this show a chance. Albeit, a little late (Lesson Zero's release day was my first day :/).
Anyway, I can see most of my school sharing opinions with the haters.
Haters gon' hate.
ReplyDeleteI dont care what people say, they'll all die anyway.
ReplyDeleteThey really should've tried harder, by that I mean shown better examples of the brony community and an episode clip instead of the girly intro. And definatley clips of parody animations, which is how peple become bronies to begin with.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty much laughing at the opinion of those closed minded ones. Once I've heard their first thoughts I just directly knew I couldn't take them seriously.
ReplyDeleteIf something motivates you and makes you happy then there is NOTHING wrong with it... unless its something sadistic or etc then yeah your pretty messed up :P
@Princess
ReplyDeleteOf course! I'll get right on it! Can I have a map of the castle? It's pretty big...
@Kurraga I love how cock sure he was,oh the look on his face once he is proved wrong.
ReplyDelete@Sunset *hands map* Here, just don't go near any of the gates because the guards are very protective and will keep you waiting until you've spilled out everything you know to them. Good luck, tell them I'll be there in about ten minutes.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, if only that one kid knew how much we really love this show, and how awesome it was.
ReplyDeleteWow, most of those kids make me ashamed to (technically) be one of them. Devin was cool, as was Lia, and Isaac seemed to be okay.
ReplyDeleteSeemed to be largely a show of stereotypes if I'm being honest. It'd probably more interesting if they brought in a few actual bronies to explain it to them, then even the haters might understand it a bit better.
no no no guys you got it all wrong, you see...
ReplyDeletethe point here is for us to observe teen stereotypes, not the teens seeing memes. the whole idea is to see teen stereotypes react to memes in their stereotype ways...
But I must say... THANK you teens react for making me realize that tonorrow i need to tell ALL off my friends that I'M a brony, so I can see who are my real friends!
ReplyDeletethose guys didnt like it because the opening was too manly for them.
ReplyDelete@Princess
ReplyDeleteYes ma'm. I'll be on my way then.
*looks at map* mmk so here...then here...oh. I found it already! I'll start the water then.
@Sunset Good, none of the usual guards there means no Celestial interference.
ReplyDelete@Princess
ReplyDeleteDoes Celestia not approve of your cabinet?
I like how that one dude said we need to get girlfriends...
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, seeing as I've had two since becoming a Brony.
Teenagers are either too closed-minded or afraid of getting embarrassed in front of others to ever give it a try just because it looks unmanly.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much how most people would react upon seeing this material.
ReplyDeleteAlso, how the hell are you a teenager in 2012 and you don't have enough knowledge of the internet to know what MLP is? That doesn't even seem possible.
I am the 21-year old assistant instructor of a Krav Mcgaw dojo, a freerunner, and getting married to my high school sweetheart. I'm short, one of the manliest men you will ever meet.
ReplyDeleteAnd those little maggots are telling me that I should be ashamed?
I'll make all the guys that act like this a bet: arm wrestle. If they win, I will delete all the pony on my computer, and stop drawing pony untill my girlfriend specifically requests it. If they win, they have to buy and watch the entirety of Season One.
Fair? Ok, I'll pack away my Fluttershy plushie, too.
Come at me, bro.
@LockeDrachier No, just love and tolerate everything out of them.
ReplyDelete@Sunset No it's just...well ever since the "failed spell" incident, she hasn't really let me do things on my own if you get what I mean...
ReplyDeleteI thought this was gonna be a reaction to the pilot or at least a single episode, once I realized this was just to the intro I sorta changed my expectations to what happened.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I never heard of this show before, but I think they should try to do it again, but with actually showing a full episode. Obviously they can't show all the reactions over 22 minutes, but I'd bet they'd probably get some completely different ones. Besides they clearly stated that we shouldn't suggest they watch moar pony, so clearly that's what they should do.
Remember, love *twitch* and *twitch* tol...er...ate... Incoming Hate. Quickly! Someone fire the orbital friendship cannon!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I'm happy that a few teens were willing to tolerate, if not love. But the guy who wanted to see more, welcome to the herd.
I'm 17, wanting to go the United States Air Force Academy, and I'm a Brony!
Oh come on y'all, think of it statistically:
ReplyDeleteTen subjects with little to no prior knowledge of MLP are shown just the intro sequence, and a few little tidbits of information about bronies, and this results in one full-on conversion to the herd? That is outstanding! A ten percent base communicability rate, if you will.
Now, take into account that about three of the others are at least sympathetic to our side, and it is likely that at least one of them will give in as well; this gives a 20% conversion rate. We should be so lucky to get such a rate even under optimal conditions! For example: expose all of New York state to the show. With a population just shy of 20 million people, this would mean four million more bronies. Even taking age group into consideration - call it 10% of the population - that is still 400,000.
I'd say that, regardless of presentation, this joke of a show was a rousing success for all things pony.
@Princess
ReplyDeleteThat's not nice.
ReplyDeleteWhatever the reason, this was a funny show, and though the reaction was generally negative, it was still a nod towards bronies!
ReplyDeleteFun fact: There was this teenager on the Bronies Facebook group who thought we were kinda creepy and weird, and wondered what the hell was up with us. So I told him why we like the show. Then a short time later he contacts me, telling me he's a brony now after watching a few episodes. So there may still be hope for these kids.
ReplyDelete@Princess
ReplyDeleteEverypony makes mistakes. I don't think you need to be punished. I wish I could talk to her about this, but I really would dislike being sent to the moon.
Oh, your bath is ready by the way.
@Scorched Wing
ReplyDeleteYou have to account for a fact that the sample of teens in the video is in no way stratified to reflect to composition of society and it is a relatively small sample compared to the 400,000 you talk about. Therefore that won't necessarily be true.
It would make a good study if we were to expose about 100 or maybe even 1,000 random teenagers to a few episodes, guarantee anonymity, and ask if they would like to see more of the series. That should give us a decent rate of conversion to the herd.
*Looks at age* *NineTEEN* Gawd frakin' youth, why am I affiliated with you?!
ReplyDelete@Sunset *sigh* you are correct, it would be a bad idea talking to her about it, though I doubt you would be sent to the moon...I'm coming.
ReplyDeleteThe stone jaw guy is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThat black kid in the light blue shirt is an ass.
Me: I knew I was the only tolerant person in my age group!
This has annoyed me greatly i could go on for hours saying how annoyed i am right now, they should not judge a show for the intro that is outrageously immature *Note* I'm 13 and a hardcore brony and i disapprove of that video.
ReplyDelete@Princess
ReplyDeleteWell, if I said what's on my mind, I'm not sure.
@MachinimistLuke
ReplyDeleteThank you! The positive thing at least to come out of it is more exposure to the show. Cause you can say there's no such thing as bad publicity, especially when that channel has over a million subscribers.
@PinkiePiesMelody
ReplyDelete*Teenage guy Brohoof*
@Sunset Alright then don't; you may take your leave, I might be a while...
ReplyDelete@KeramatZMode
ReplyDeleteMade my day since the raven are sucking so hardcore right now.
ReplyDelete@Princess
ReplyDeleteOk. I'm leaving then. Should I wait outside?
Welcome to the herd Devin *Brohoof*
ReplyDelete@Sunset If that is what you wish, go ahead, I'll make it to next post when I'm out.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad oppressive gender roles are still firmly entrenched in America's youth. "Why would guys want to watch this? Because they want to be little girls?" Yes, clearly men can't enjoy anything feminine without becoming gay and/or female. Effing facehoof.
ReplyDeletea lot of these kids are just plain weird... their reactions man... too subtle and barren with little understanding at all.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing to point out is how the comment system is being strictly controlled.
Yes some here most of them didnt even try the show. They just saw the intro@LockeDrachier
ReplyDeleteDamn, I hope they showed them more than the intro song. I admit it, I HATE THAT INTRO SONG. It drips sugary girly cliche and vomits the pink rainbow stereotype of the archetypical little 5-8 year old girl mentality. Its not a good representation of the rest of the show.
ReplyDeleteNow guys, don't get defensive!
DON'T TAKE A STANCE OF OPPOSITION AS THOUGH ITS A PERSONAL AFFRONT TO YOU.
imho, of course.
I laughed my ass off. That was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteStill, the one kid who thought we were all trolls was...
I don't know how to react to this, it's good that some of them liked it, but those stark opponents really killed it for me...
ReplyDeleteSorry for my bad spelling and just odd sentence structure. Typing on the I-pod is just awkward for me and my computer is broken
ReplyDeletewe cant blame the people thiking its a girly show and yet the message is just hidden. so yea cant blame them for their low self esteem for a show like it this, no offense to some that has any.
ReplyDeleteso meh i dont much approve of this.
@Princess
ReplyDeleteYes m'am. I'll wait, then.
@Silver_Wing
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I just didn't want to go into the complexities of actual statistics. But seriously, even two-tenths of a percent - 0.02% is 4000. Compare this to the recent Brony Census world population of ~9,500.
But that is all beside the point: that there was any support at all, much less a full conversion, is what matters. They can't stop the pony, just sayin'.
:)
"Teens react to memes!"
ReplyDeleteI'm done.
@Monsty
ReplyDeleteBad Publicity being the 'Dangerous' Publicity. The stuff that could draw in people willing to close us all down.
I'm 16 years old and at first I was like them. I was thinking that bronies were just trolls, or even that they were stupid freaks.
ReplyDeleteBut then I watch the first episode...
Those guys where cool, nuff said!
ReplyDelete"Oh shit, I'm SO manly that I can't even watch a TV show, because my MANLY and TOUGH friends disapprove"
ReplyDeleteWhile entertaining, this has an unfair bias: those kids were shown only the intro, which portrays the episode content imperfectly.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at it in context, we just got:
ReplyDelete1) one full conversion
2) a girl willing to defend bronies even if she doesn't like the show
3) a cool dude that might never take another look at the show, but is open-minded enough to still respect and understand bronies
When you think about it, those kids saw the show out of context. They saw the girly opening, and a few of our low-grade images from the early days of the fandom.
If they'd seen some clips from good episodes (FLUTTERSHY AND THE BEAR) they might have reacted differently. Hell, I know they would have.
But alas, such is not to happen.
@Mike
ReplyDelete*watches the rest of the clip*
...owait... well, still at least a little biased, but not as bad as I first thought.
I think this video is BS. The kids are setup to give those kind of responses.
ReplyDeleteIf I have to publicly give an opinion "ON TV" the first time I watch MLPFIM Intro, I would have said the same thing just to be safe.
@Wisdom Thumbs
ReplyDeleteThat one kid converted way to fast(it sounds so weird saying that, sounds like we're a religion.) I think he already knew of ponies, no one react like that to just the intro.
The opinions/ 'extremely hurtful criticism' of a few select teens* really dose not matter to anyone. The mane thing is that this is spreading awareness and how we work with it decides the out come. WE ARE GETTING AIR TIME! SWEET!
ReplyDeleteMeh, you could tell they were just being "cool" I bet if they looked into the community they'd change their minds. Especially the "they're all trolls" guy. That was him wanting to be a brony but not be judged.
ReplyDeleteBut, remember. Love and Tolorate them. They may change. Maybe... Or not.. Hmm
this video is absolute shit
ReplyDelete@LockeDrachier I take comfort in the fact that I could take all of these idiotic Justin Bieber and/or 'gangsta' wannabes into a ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
ReplyDeleteThose reactions are pretty understandable if you are only shown the intro and none of the episodes or community work. I thought they were just using the intro to set them up and then were going to bring in Fluttershy killing the bear. But no, just an incredibly obvious hatchet job.
ReplyDeleteI'd echo the doubts about how teenagers can be the that ignorant of the internet to not know what MLP is, but I've met people who've only vaguely heard of Star Wars, and I was visiting a high school class recently where nobody had ever heard of "Yo dawg I heard you like x" memes.
ReplyDeleteAnd as they brohoofed, they were then turned into bronies from that day forward.
ReplyDeleteI want to see how they react to Friendship is Magic Bitch.
ReplyDeleteThis brings back some memories, since I completely understand what it's like to have reacted in a similar way to the show when I first heard about its popularity.
ReplyDeleteIf all you're given is the opening to view, then of course you're not going to understand why the show is popular among male audiences (let alone take a shine to it yourself).
ReplyDeleteI don't blame them for reacting the way they did.
Then you have a problem.
i want to hate them so much, but i can't because i must love and tolerate. I just wish they could do the same.
ReplyDeletethey should have told them about EqD and it's view count. Would LOVE to see that face! (especially on the red hoodie guy)
ReplyDeleteMan i just watched that and honestly i think that guy who embraced us, i give him one week before he's a brony.
ReplyDelete@ColoradoMillenium Which is why I never had 'friends' in high school. They were so intellectually degenerate compared to me, I was disgusted by the lot of them. Oh how I LOVED crushing the grade curve for them! Troll lol lol! >:D And naturally, this made me the 'nerd'. But, poor bullies, I was also stronger than most of them too. Yes, I am truly a superior form of life, a highly evolved super-being. Who likes pony! Rejoice, my bronies and pegasisters, for you share a trait with me, indicating YOUR superiority to the mundanes! Join the Solar Empire now and aid our illustrious illuminated Princess of the Sun in crushing... I mean... loving and tolerating the unwashed masses into submission! >:}
ReplyDelete>Is a man.
ReplyDelete>Is 19.
>Has girlfriend (who loves that I styled her Rainbow Dash to be show-accurate like mine.)
>Can bench roughly 180-200lbs.
I just laugh those folks off.
well, that was blatantly sexist and homophobic. why is this on EqD in the first place?
ReplyDeleteDon't worry cause you know most of them went home to start watching on YouTube. Having to sit thru my sister watchin MLP G1 back in the day to get to my shows, of course i was critical about all of it for the past 20+ years. Even when FIM came up last year, i cared to know nothing about it
ReplyDelete"Damn this MLP thing wont it die already"
Another Brony joined the herd
Hate is the first step towards Bronyhood.
Hate detected: Firing Orbital Friendship Cannon.
ReplyDelete@Niko Sad to say, most of those twits probably are still in the camp that worship Obama at a shrine. I can tell just by looking at them. Most of the Obama-supporting teens I've run across, before Pony even came to be, were more judgmental, narrow-minded, and illogical than any number of right-wing fundies I've also battled.
ReplyDeleteFact: Except for the geeks and nerds, teens are stupid.
ReplyDeleteThose reactions are really interesting because they are teens. MlP was designed for children and is good enough to entertain adults. Teens are mostly children trying to prove to the world, and to themselves, that they are grown up.
ReplyDeleteBeing a teenager is not only a matter of years, there's a big part of mindset, how you think and consider the world around you, and I'm pretty confident a lot of bronies were teens who grew up when they discovered MlP.
It's normal that most of them can't believe it and see that as shameful, because they are teens. I can only hope they will grow up, with oe without MlP :)
Eh.. Kids react is cool (small children give the BEST answers), but Teens React is like a bad spinoff TV show.
ReplyDeletePlus, letting them watch ONLY the intro?
ReplyDeleteBut the rest... especially that guy with the cap and the guy that didn't have any idea about what a troll is, just no. No. I feel bad for you. Your parents must have raised you badly.
Haha kids these days.(If your a kid and I offend you, I apologize)
ReplyDeleteYou either love or hate the show.
ReplyDeleteIf you like the show than you are probably the majority of people that are comfortable with their self image.
That being said i personally do not think
MLP Fim is anywhere near the the best series in the world. I love this fandom because of all the wonderfully talented bronies in it.
It's a shame that so many people do not give things a try because they are afraid of what others think.

@Mattatatta
ReplyDeleteGood point. Just watching the intro doesn't tell you squat. Show them Lesson Zero and THEN see if they still consider this a typical show for little girls.
There is a phrase I like to use in situations like these: "to each their own."
ReplyDeleteThough, admittedly I was foolishly trying to turn a blind eye to the stuff during its first year; only in late 2011 (partially because my brother told me about it) did I actually pay attention to the show itself; soon afterwards, two of my best friends (both 20s, both grad students like myself) got into it, which affirmed my decision.
ReplyDeletethese teens are very child like themselves.
ReplyDeleteBunch of faggot teenagers.
ReplyDeleteSee, if it was Kids React, I may have given this a watch. But seeing as how (these) teens are stupid, no thanks.
ReplyDeleteUsually the kids are wittier and cooler than the teens.
Apparently there was a deleted scene.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBYAOrHNv5E&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
Watching now.
K... Kid in the Striped shirt.. MOTHA BUCKING BROHOOF! every one else just... no. I mean it ain't for everyone I understand but atleast watch a full episode. other than that I couldn't give a damn
ReplyDelete@LanceArrow
ReplyDeleteLike I said; small children give the best answers
I remember watching some videos from Kids React, they did Nyan Cat and Double Rainbow Guy (not the song). The kids were hilarious with their answers.
Small children can look upon almost anything and give a brutally honest opinion without batting an eyelid at what happen as a result.
In context of FiM, small shildren would seem a bit biased because of the show's target audience. But then again, hearing reactions from boys about the show, and reactions from all of the children upon learning that quite a lot of adults find this to be their favourite show would be interesting.

ReplyDelete> This video
> Shame in my generation (Except those two guys)
@emp2012
ReplyDeleteEven though this is supposed to be a serious suggestion,I think it practically begs for the following statement.
"Yo dawg! We heard you like reaction videos, so we made a reaction video of a reaction video so you can react to the teens reacting while watching the bronies reacting to the teens' reactions!"
What little faith I had in my generation is now gone.
ReplyDeleteSorry,, I can only love and tolerate for so long. *dislike*
ReplyDeleteWithout even watching this I can tell what is going to happen
ReplyDeleteWell...shit. So many people watch that series. I can't believe this, I won't be able to check EQD at school anymore cause now people will already be prejudiced. Dang, how am i supposed to keep up with so much pony?
ReplyDeleteLook I'm understand hating bronies for trolling or something but this stereotyping is not okay.
ReplyDeleteWhat's interesting to me about bronie hate is that if I (27 year old male) wore a sponge bob shirt and had sponge bob stuff people would just be like "Yup, that stoner kid really likes sponge bob" But as soon as I wear pony stuff and pink there is a problem.
To me, it seems like they are taking the piss out of us boys (mainly) because we watch what is supposed to be, a girl's show. That's how I see it as.
ReplyDelete@Coustify
ReplyDeleteIt's sad, yes.
Those who try to be themselves will always be cooler than those who try to be like everyone else.
ReplyDeleteThe sooner they figure this out the better.
@TheMagicalFish
ReplyDeleteExactly the same here (except I'm 16)
They didn't just show the intro they would've screened an episode. But because they have a slight time constraint and hasbro being YouTube bitches they wouldn't have it all shown.
ReplyDeleteWow. Those girls who say they'd never date a brony? They are such close-minded little snots. The guys, I can understand where they're coming from (even if they are ignorant as hell). But the girls? NO EXCUSES.
ReplyDeleteDear Lord...
ReplyDeleteI'm not offended in any way personally, but what's the point of all these positive articles that are made when there are actual vids like this and FOX News tarnishing our name?
ReplyDelete@Topyka
ReplyDeleteGetting caught with pony is the best though, more chances to convert ppl.
>.> Brats
ReplyDelete-_-
ReplyDeleteokay it has to be alright to say that the "troll" kid is not a brony. one does not simply ironically like ponies. and really asian guy with highlights and pink shirt we aren't real men look at yourself.
ReplyDeleteThis is the funniest thing I have ever seen
ReplyDeleteI am deadly serious
Not the best thing to watch with a headache. It makes me want to love and tolerate most of those people with my fists.
ReplyDeleteThey should have shown them an episode or even a few clips from Dragonshy,Lesson Zero, or Sisterhooves Social.
ReplyDeleteAt 6:00 I just felt to punch him in the face!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, It's people like him that are haters and don't want anyone to behave different. It's not like persons are forced to only do things specified for their gender and age. And just because he/she is a Brony doesn't mean that it's the only thing they like to do. In my case:
I work out at the gym 3-4 times a week, but I also watch and love My little pony Friendship is magic
@Scarbird Agreed, good sir. I, and most of my brony friends, are in the age range of 13-16. makes one sad, doesn't it? that we have to live in the lousy generation
ReplyDeleteI was about to say "Are people, especially teenagers, oblivious to ponies taking over the internet? Then someone posted

which makes a lot more sense
I love that guy and girl who are so positive about it :D
ReplyDeleteThe rest is just clueless, but to be honest: I would have the exact same reaction. You just have to know the community, learn to put your stereotypical ideas aside and just judge it from a critical point of view :D Then they will realise Bronies and MLP FIM is awesome :3
this just shows how polarizing the show can be. either you love it(the show or the fans) or hate it.
ReplyDeleteWhatever I like what I like.
ReplyDelete*sunglasses*
Deal with it.
Only one of them is a true man
ReplyDelete*Brohoof* mate, if you're reading this :)
i was gonna type out some big long response, but i think it can be summed up like this: i really, REALLY hate my generation now
ReplyDeleteOh come on, only intro?
ReplyDeleteComments such as "They should have shown them a full episode" are missing the point of this video. This was not supposed to be an exercise in mutual understanding. It was supposed to be teens wincing at things they found threatening.
ReplyDeleteI gotta admit i'm feeling quite upset about this.
ReplyDeletebut at the end of the day what does there opinion there just a bunch of teens they picked off the street after all. :/
A perfect example of how vapid and superficial today's youth is.
ReplyDeleteThese are the leaders of tomorrow, folks!
@Amazoness! Guy People liking MLP Threatening? WTF?
ReplyDeleteAt least a few of them were sane.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the point of even making this if they didn't even bother showing them a full episode?Of course if all you see is the opening you're going to think "This mess is for little girls"(I'm a female brony and even I thought that when I first saw the opening).
ReplyDeleteThey also didn't bother to tell them why the show is so popular and who made the show.
Btw I'm 16 and I'm glad I do not act like them.
ReplyDeleteI don't hold all that much against the neighsayers here as I'm pretty sure I'd be among the people wondering what the deal was if I was shown only the intro with no further idea into it given my previous hatred of the MLP franchise (and I still do find the intro music to be ever so embarrassing that I just usually skip it). Though if I was told of the huge male following, I'd at least be interested in knowing where this came from and would at the very least take a look at some of the episodes to make up my own mind before dismissing fans as being non-men with no life.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I indeed was a big skeptic not ever intending to give the light of day to a MLP series had it not been for some people I knew prompting me to investigate FiM in the first place. Without them I probably still wouldn't have watched a single episode of it on my own, and would continue to hold a poor opinion on any franchise entry, even FiM, just based on MLP's history and notoriety as a shallow girls' alternative toy commercial to Transformers.
@Princess Luna
ReplyDeleteOh a guard, easily.

ReplyDeleteand just like that 3 where converted. Welcome to the herd. :D
ReplyDelete...dafuq about these kids.
ReplyDelete@Dwarfyz Oh, the indignity! :D
ReplyDeleteFinally they did this!
ReplyDelete"They're trolling! They are trolls! They are so trolling! I won't watch it but I might post it on Facebook... you know, like 'U mad? U mad bro?'" <-- LOL!
ReplyDeleteI will love and tolerate them.
ReplyDeleteBronies give love and tolerance to the people who deserve it but that doesnt necessarily mean everyone. These "teens" are the stereotype of today's younger generations.
ReplyDeleteI am a brony and proud of it. I'm nice to all the people who deserve it and believe most of the teens in this video are idiots and would tell them off anytime.
Everypony equal ~ everypony loved.
That entire video was cringe-worthy. The macaroni comment caused me physical pain. That Isaac guy seems like a really cool guy though. More people should think like him.
ReplyDelete@Peter Noone Pete? Dat really you? Henry the 8th for da win! :D
ReplyDeleteif these kids were to give 1 ENTIRE episode a chance, their opinions would be COMPLETELY different. If I just watched the intro and nothing more I would never be the brony that I am today.
ReplyDeletethey spread the virus at young kids? yes make more bronies
ReplyDeleteThis was a pretty entertaining video.
ReplyDeleteYes, if they wanted to give the kids proper context they would have shown an entire episode. Do they generally show anything longer than a few minutes, though?
What did everyone think was the most absurd reaction? I have to go with metrosexual Asian kid. The entire time he was attacking people's masculinity, I just kept thinking about how funny that was coming from somebody in a pink shirt.
This is pissing people off? Well they're just teens. This reaction is usual, and it's not even that bad.
ReplyDeleteFox News? Then we have a reason to be pissed.
Haters gonna hate but that was just pitiful. Only the intro? I'll bet anything that they all went home, got tons of hate mail, watched the full episode, loved it, tried to become bronies, but were rejected because everyone hates them now.
ReplyDeleteLol! I found this hilarious! But Who cares what they think? Of course Not everyone is gonna my little pony.
ReplyDeleteI really don't care one way or another.
ReplyDeleteI'll do what I do why should I care what random people think.
Why even care? :P
ReplyDeleteI thought it was fun (really cracked up at times), and I really can't take anything the negative ones said to heart even if I try. Why even care about what they think, yknow?
There are 6 kinds of attitudes towards Bronies/MLP:
ReplyDelete1)Bronies are the cancer of the internet GTFO!
2)Bronies are hobos.
3)I do not know why do they watch this show...
4)Poniez are lolz.
5)You are original! keep doing that!
6)There is nothing wrong with watching my little pony!
@SonicRatchet
ReplyDeleteI really do agree with you on that one. I told my friends(most of them are juniors in high school) that I was a Brony, and they just told me that I was a freak and I need to grow up. I'm so glad that the Brony community has welcomed me with open arms. Unlike anything I've ever experienced. We need to love and tolerate, though.
with in the next few days they became bronys
ReplyDeleteAn obvious 15 minute research of Google and Google Images... Oh well, at least the word is spreading and people are getting curious of the show so we're still continuing to grow at the same amazingly fast rate.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, the world will be ours soon.
Watching this makes me want to do a video of how little I care about haters.
ReplyDeleteRemarks:
ReplyDeleteI don't want to think about Adam... he's in for a wild, but possibly short ride with the herd.
Welcome, Devin, to the herd!
The video was cool, it showed just what you would expect from young teenagers.
ReplyDeleteNow, don't let it convert to a case of "Brony bullying" at middle or high school, you know the media loves shit like that.
*Brohoof*
I actally laughed during the entire clip :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing their reactions was hilarious!
Yeah, Devin and the hat girl seem cool
If bronies are the cancer of the Internet, I suppose by now we qualify metaphorically as Stage IV osteosarcoma with multiple liver, brain, and lung metastases... in other words, NO WAY TO STOP US NOW!! >:D
ReplyDelete*no one can out-troll the troll king!* Your troll-fu is weak and floppy, young ones!
