Let's have some fun tonight and destroy a poll, shall we?
There's a poll on ToyWiz going on right now pitching different toy lines against each other, and as you can see, ponies are losing. Can't have that, can we? Let's fix it.
The poll is midway down the page.
EDIT: We win! For anyone who was offended by this post, I'd encourage you to take a deep breath. We're not defacing the website or anything, and I'm willing to bet we just earned them a little ad money. It's all in good fun! Relax.

ReplyDeleteI don't hate you Bro you have a cool name for one and for another you've been cordial, even if I disagreed with your opinion concerning the morality of us voting on non-serious internet poll
It ain't that these voting poll's are meaningless its just doing unnecessary actions like this just give us a bad reputation. The
ReplyDelete@Tenaris
ReplyDeleteI went back to look for that "potential ad money" disclaimer but I couldn't find it. So I put "my little pony" into the search and WOW, they have blind-bag Fluttershy ($4.99)! They also have "exclusive" stuff like the 12 blind-bag figures set (Target?) and stuff no longer in stores like the Fashion size Rarity (I gave her away in August for Harmony Day). And ToyWiz ships worldwide.
While I was there, I voted for ponies again. That's three times now.
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteIf you were honestly approaching the show with no bias and with an open mind, yes I would happily share them with you. But we could show you anything and you buck it because you don't want to like the show you want to troll and complain. We are ponies of tolerance but a pony can only tolerate so much.
And before you whine about that, yes that Ghandi(well, he didn't say pony)
And as I said before, yes I imagine you are upset because your favorite is losing, but it's fair poll. So get over it.
The fact is before spamming to win we were doing alright, we topped all the others and were second best compared to transformers even though pony figures ain't that great and not accurate to the show (Expect for spike his figure that comes with twilight on that air balloon is the most show accurate figure)
ReplyDelete@poweredbyporridge.com I wasnt mentioning the toy site i was mentioning what was on this page "We win! For anyone who was offended by this post, I'd encourage you to take a deep breath. We're not defacing the website or anything, and I'm willing to bet we just earned them a little ad money. It's all in good fun! Relax."
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I agree with you or not about the poll. I can honestly see both sides of the argument. I didn't vote though, so I don't have a dog in this fight.
As for the show, if you've watched a few episodes and didn't like it then there's not much I can say that would change your mind. It's just not for everybody. That said, I will tell you that my favorite episode is Lesson Zero, If you feel like giving it another try then there you go, if you don't like it, that's fine too.
@poweredbyporridge.com
ReplyDeleteUm, sorry Powered by Porridge. I did not pirate your account. It looks like Blogger got its wires crossed. That comment was supposed to be in my name.
I just don't see how this leads to everyone thinking badly of us. I mean sure do we gain anything from this? No, cause it was a poll strictly for the lulz. Do we lose anything? No, because once again it was a simple poll that had been done on countless websites and will have no greater impact outside of the poll, I think we're making this into a bigger deal than it really is.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly, we're at 53%
ReplyDeleteGood job everypony!
go pony, go pony, go!
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteJust curious, but have you seen the episode "A Dog and Pony Show"? Not trying to troll you or imply anything with that one; I honestly think you'd enjoy the dichotomy Rarity shows in her actions (which, I'll admit, is somewhat tangentially related to your posts on this matter). Would be worth watching.
Also, I couldn't help but notice that the poll was nominally one-sided to begin with, before we even showed up. Several obviously male-oriented franchises, one ostensibly female-oriented franchise thrown in (potentially even as a joke?), and one franchise overwhelmingly dominating all others (in this case, Transformers), and yet, how much complaining and/or whining was done about how Transformers was being "too dominant" or "changing the poll in its favor?"
Considering 12,000+ votes were thrown in because a fandom was made aware of a poll that included their interests brought probably just as many hits, and potentially quite a few sales, I'd say (with quite a wide error margin to back it up) that the only people complaining are the people who suddenly realized that their fandom was no longer the top of the pecking order/food chain.
Guess what? It's the internet. It happens. Some time next year or thereafter, the Next Big Thing™ will pop up and put Bronies in second place. And the next thing will put that in second place. And so on and so forth. Ad infinitum.
And the world (and you) will continue to move on.
@Tenaris
ReplyDeleteOh. That's less exciting than ToyWiz posting it. Thanks! ^_^
@IbeforeEexceptafterC You've got it all wrong. I'm not here to troll. And I'm not upset because my favorite show was losing (I've never watched any of those shows). I'm upset because it just seems to me like this fanbase loves to push their ways on others, and this poll shows it.
ReplyDeleteBut actually, now I'm more upset at how you're just attacking me relentlessly, calling me a whiner, asking me to shut up, all the while hiding behind a veil of "love and tolerance". It's pretty clear you hate my guts.
For the rest of you, I'm just really frustrated, and it's a frustration that has been building for a while. And I guess I've hit my boiling point. If anyone can do anything to help me like the show, please do.
@shadowfalcon76
ReplyDeleteBLASPHEMER!! The ponies shall reign for a thousand years of peace. Then Discord will destroy all things. Twenty baked bads and 100 hail Celestias for you.
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteIt's perfectly fair, in many countries elections are won by huge margins, 2 main parties share huge amounts of the vote and the smaller parties get almost nothing. An election is a good analogy, one person gets one anonymouse vote, the counting is done in a winner takes all method, the only difference is the outcome of the poll.
You say to "leave the poll to it's [sic] own devices", polls don't have devices, their results are completely controlled by only one mechanism, voting. Every person gets one vote to show their opinion. If we force ourselves not to vote, then we are going against the very nature of the poll. We aren't "rigging" this poll by voting in it, in fact nothing could be further from the truth.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote: You're not allowed to encourage an entire webstie that's much larger than it to go in and spam votes.
Reply: Each person only gets one vote, unless they are prepared to put in more effort through things like private browsing and similar. We didn't spam votes.
Also, by analogy, politicians wouldn't be able to canvas or use advertisements for votes under your rules. Making people aware of a poll in which they can express their opinion is perfectly fair. Imagine how modern elections would go if nobody could tell voters when the election was coming, the voter would have to be aware of it themself or they wouldn't vote. EqD was making bronies aware of a poll that wanted our opinions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote: My point is that a larger website getting all of their members to vote for the sole purpose of changing results isn't fair.
Reply: Yes we voted to change the result, that is the reason any voter votes in any poll, to change the result, this is a core fundamental of polling. You say it's unfair that we are so numerous, but that isn't true. Yes we are numerous and we have similar opinions, that gives us the right to have an impact on polls. A core fundamental of polls is that if lots of people have similar opinions, they can affect the result of the poll more easily. It's completely fair that bronies should be able to win polls if we outnumber the equivalent Transformers fans. They get expensive movies to build their fanbase, we don't, I'd say that's a bigger injustice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote: I [sic] no longer is an accurate portrayal of that website's users. I mean, do any of you even go to that website? you have no right to mess with what's not yours.
Quote: I'm faulting you guys for rigging some poor site's poll
Reply: The poll was open to all internet users. Their site is an online shop, they only have user accounts for the purpose of selling people things, they aren't an online community, they have no forum, and nobody uses the comment system of their site blog for any community discussions or similar things. They put the poll up to get information on the opinions of anybody who can visit the site, anyone who could be a potential customer. That is pretty much the whole internet (they ship internationally).
Also, as others have said, their site will actually benefit from this incident. Speaking for myself I browsed their website for a few minutes after voting. I found their range interesting, and my potential to buy from them increased as I was exposed to their "shelves". More people looking at their product listings and seeing their ads can only be beneficial to them.
Character limit reached (didn't know that existed), continued in next post.
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteHave you tried watching the show? Seriously, that's the only thing that should effect whether or not you like the show, you shouldn't need to be convinced by everyone else.
@frith Anytime :p
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteAw shucks Forrest, help us out here. What do you like? Maybe we can find the equivalent in the fandom. There are episodes, there is music, there is fanfiction, there are comics, there are video games, there is artwork of all sorts shapes and sizes... Give us a hint.
HA HA! The fun has been quadrupled!
ReplyDeleteTo repeat what I said after the Naughty or Nice results
ReplyDeleteI REGRET NOTHING!
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteAll right, I'm going to give it a shot. Try watching this video, it should tell you pretty much all you need to know.
http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/cr/ff/32594-episode-58-my-little-pony-retrospective-g4
@frith Well, let's see...
ReplyDeleteMusic: Rock, especially Rush, Boston, and The Who.
TV Shows: Castle, Whose Line is it Anyway, Mythbusters, Big Band Theory.
Movies: Eight Below, The Incredibles, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Books: A Short History of Nearly Everything, Inherit the Wind.
Games: Rock Band, Zelda, Sonic, Mario, Team Fortress 2, Minecraft/Terraria.
The thing is, I have very little willing suspension of disbelief, and it's impossible to keep that intact for this show, so I either need to work around that or somehow strengthen it.

ReplyDeleteVery good points, but a small error: we can vote several times in this poll, there does not seem to be a limit. But that is insignificant because it is equal to all: people voting for, say, GI Joe can vote just as often as I can.
I like the point that Transformers have big budget movies, MLP doesn't. X^)
@Forrest Hailman Love and tolerance is an ideal, its hard to live up to. For the record, I don't hate you either. You are bothered by a group of fans who enjoy acting as a group to advance all things pony. This does not make you a bad person. Having said that, being a member of the aforementioned fandom, I don't feel like a bad person for voting on things I love. We have a difference of opinion, but I respect and tolerate your right to have it. That's the ideal of love and tolerance as I understand it. I wish I could convey the feelings of joy when the next episode comes on, even a bad one makes me smile as I cringe. The fanfics, the pmvs, such love seems to go into it all. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go watch Rainbow Dash shout catch phrases when she should be saving ponies, silly dashie you say the phrase while you're doing the rescuing do you need spiderman to show you how its done?

ReplyDeleteContinued from the above comment.
Quote: then I have a challenge for you.

Reply: Challenge Rejected
We can all debate the characteristics of this show until we turn blue in the face, but whether or not you like the show is a matter which is decided mostly by taste, not by reason. I'm happy to tell people about the herd, but actually trying to convert someone with reason is a pointless endeavour, it would be like you trying to make me like Marmite (I don't).
I'm not going to "push my [tastes]" onto you, if you really don't enjoy watching FiM then I won't even try to change that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote: I dunno... You guys already seem to hate me, so I don't have much to lose.
I came here because I heard about a rigged poll on another site.
Reply: I don't hate you, I would bet most people here don't hate you. Love and tolerance is more than just a hollow motto, it's defined how bronies have interacted with the wider internet community since our founding. Sure, not all of us follow it, but sadly that happens with any group, there are always the bad ones. I welcome you here, especially because you have a dissenting opinion from the majority, 1 dissenting opinion (excluding trolling) is worth 10 sheep like bleets. We are forced then to think and reason, and do something I enjoy: debating.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote: I also came here in hopes that someone could change my mind about the show.
Reply: Sounds like you subconsciously want to be a brony, but something is stopping you :P

Final notes: This essay looked far better when I was using u and hr tags to pretty it up. My ghetto section divider will have to suffice.
Also my deleted comment had a typo which is fixed in this revision comment.
@frith
ReplyDeleteThere is a limit, it only counts the first vote.
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteI don't hate your guts, I don't even know who you are. For all I know you could be my mother.
I am not hiding behind anything. I openly told you I would Love and Tolerate you in only so much as I had to. Which means I won't cuss you out and make inappropriate suggestions. But I ain't going to hold your hand and pat your back and tell you you're right.
If you aren't trolling you're doing a damn fine job of looking like you are. If you want to like the show watch episodes, look around EqD, check out some fan made content. Several more tolerant bronies than myself have already given you several ideas. If you continue to stick around and whine then I maintain you, sir, are a troll
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with a lack of suspension of disbelief but just to warn you that will make it very difficult to watch this show, but if you want an episode suggestion then I say you should watch the season 1 episode 'Dragonshy' it focuses on Fluttershy (my fav pony) it has both humor and action. It's the seventh episode of the first season. Hope that helps
@frith
ReplyDeleteWhen I tested it by multiple voting for a weaker option, the count never changed. The MLP option may seem to change because a lot of people are voting per minute. It originally had me wondering if multiple votes are allowed.
WE ARE WINNING! GJ guys!
ReplyDelete@shadowfalcon76
ReplyDeleteIt can't end!! It won't!!
It's okay, it's okay. You love me, don't you Applejack?
*brushie*brushie*brushie*
@IbeforeEexceptafterC I've taken those ideas and I'm watching some of them. I don't like being called a troll or a whiner though. I'm feeling pretty upset now, and kicking me when I'm down just rubs it in.
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteYou are proving my point. You can't be watching them and talking to us at the same time.
You guys crack me up. xD I love this community so much.
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
Well let's start with the episodes. You're saying that you liked at least one pony episode, right? Well, considering that, as you stated,
1: You did not watch cartoons as a kid;
2: You have very little willing suspension of disbelief;
3: You much prefer sarcasm, wit, and satire over cartoon humor,
well then it's pretty much impressive that a cartoon, targeted to 5-year-old girls (among other ages), about colorful, happy ponies, managed to grab you so much that you got into the community (as partially as you like, but still). I mean, since you were really not the cartoon type in the first place, that should mean this one must be pretty darn good for you to like it, right?
Also, the fact that you hang around here is testament to the fact you do like something about ponies, in the broadest sense.
Perhaps it's the constant art outpour, including music, drawings, PMVs, animations, and fanfictions, and more. I for one thrive in this endless stream of creations, and even if you like only one of these sections, there's more than enough high-quality pieces to keep you coming several times a day. That alone should be quite a good reason to appreciate the brony fandom. Not to mention the drive to create and express themselves that has grabbed so many of us since we watched the show, which is a good point in itself.
Also, some others like it for the overall positive attitude the fandom has. This derives both from the inspiring messages the show conveys (that are quite sound, and that many reported to have changed their way of life for the better), and for the ascended mantra "Love and tolerance", which may or may not live up to expectations in people's actions, and may sound a little cheesy, but still, it's a plenty better motto than "We're the internet hate machine", or the whole anonymity thing.
And I know that plenty of bronies don't quite live to expectations, but to this I say, we're only humans. Many of us come from a long past lived in the internet's lowest bellows, and are recovering only now from the cynicism and the jerkiness, but I say, this place is still one of the most positive around in the whole Internet, and it's a darn good one for them to get better in.
Sadly, as bronydom grows, there will always be some people that need to be shown the way, but really, I haven't seen such a high ratio of nice people to jerks anywhere else on the internet. And that's one reason I'm damn proud to be a brony.
You can post here, or hang around in the IRC, or go to Ponychan, or to conventions, and you'll always meet lots of nice people. Sure, there's always one jerk or two, but if you let your day be ruined by that, then you'll never find happiness anywhere. Just appreciate the good, and know that the bad can often be dealt with just by encouraging the good (in yourself or in others).
So, I guess that's some of the main reasons you'd like to be a brony. If you are in for just one of them, then it's OK, you don't have to like everything, the world is beautiful cause it's diverse. Just come in for what you appreciate, and feel good about it.
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteKinda have to point out you just contradicted yourself (and kinda shot yourself in the foot in the process).
Just about everything you listed as a "like" outright requires a huge amount of Willing Suspension of Disbelief to even look at the medium, much less enjoy it to the point of "liking" it. With the likes of Mario, Sonic, Zelda, and Team Fortress 2 in your "like" category, I have a hard time believing you when you say that Friendship is Magic stretches your imagination to the breaking point. I can find more reality-breaking in Monty Python or The Incredibles, to the point it makes even Pinkie Pie look somewhat tame.
I dislike attacking someone's character when I'm debating with them, and I actively don't do it, but I will call someone out for hypocrisy when they pull that card just to complain. You list what you listed and then expect anyone to believe that you can't fathom the same form of comedy in pony form? I'm sorry, but you can't run that up a flagpole and expect anyone to salute it.
You seem like a swell guy, and I can understand your frustration (seriously, G.I. Joe doesn't even garner nearly as many votes as Transformers, even though they've proven they can take them in multiple official crossovers and implied in the movies?), but lashing out like you did earlier kinda loses just as much "internet respect" as you claim to have lose for us. Pot, meet kettle.
@Tosxychor
ReplyDeleteArrrgh, fine. You win. You're more trusting then I, but I will give the benefit of the doubt.
HEY! Forrest! I am sorry for hurting your feelings. But if you want to give the show a real chance you really should watch without interruptions.
Well, for the games, I don't care about the story or the characters too much, I play them JUST for the gameplay. But you can't enjoy a show for gameplay, can you?
ReplyDeleteAs for Monty Python and The Incredibles, I don't know. I guess because Monty Python makes fun of itself, and there's really no canon in the first place, and The Incredibles doesn't seem to stretch things too much.
I don't know what it is about Ponies, but I just can't suspend disbelief for it. I've discovered the same thing applies to anime as well; I can't suspend disbelief for that either.
I'm sorry if I've lost respect in your eyes, I'm just trying to figure this whole thing out.
@IbeforeEexceptafterC Technically, I'm still buffering the video. Slow internet. Please stop attacking me.
I'm here from ToyWiz.com, and this is fantastic! Thank you so much for voting. As a fellow Pony fan, I am so excited that you came and made this poll go all MLP!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
Bebs at ToyWiz.com
Holy cow, 450+ comments over this?
ReplyDeleteSo an internet poll was won by a larger fanbase, quick call the cops. Seriously what's the issue going on here? I see one non-brony here upset about it and the community responds in the same way any fandom would. Sheesh, talk about a non-issue.
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteProgressive rock... that's a tough one to emulate. I'm thinking: The Living Tombstone: September; MuiMui: Want it Need it; Michael Arellano: I Need That. (I have a lot more that I like, but most of the awesome music I've downloaded is instrumental.)
TV shows: Comedy and investigation. Oh! There's that Mythbusters comic that was a riot!
Movies: Monty Python! We have an excellent, but very short parody. I loved the Incredibles -- I think the closest parallel here would be the Season 2, episodes 1 and 2.
Books: I haven't read either... and i'm very poorly versed in Fanfic. Attention Bronies: a little help please?
Games: Rock Band: youtube vids with pony songs. Zelda: artwork. Sonic: I think there was a pony mod of that. Minecraft: a LOT of pony mods/constructs/servers for that. Team Fortress: Beautiful custom pony versions were made by someone just this month.
I'll go see what I can find, starting with the music. This will take a while. 8^) BRB
Hey while I'm here, thank you to those who were concerned about swaying our poll! But really we don't mind. We do these mostly for fun. Sometimes we do learn something about a trend, but really....we just enjoy seeing the results and sometimes sparking conversations. Even at work, we debate on some of the polls we run! So to have a community step up and vote hard for their favorite is awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy Little Pony certainly makes fun of itself.
ReplyDeleteA perfect example is after a recent musical duet, one of the characters that had sung was speaking to the other and said "shall we sing about it again?", when talking about the topic of the song.
Another example is when one character was repeatedly performing heroic acts and later in the episode they found the need to perform a heroic stunt but no trouble was happening, they questioned why there were no problems happening against the norm.
I'm trying to keep these as generic as possible to avoid spoilers, so they sound a little dry.
@Sgt Byrd
ReplyDelete[about poll] Thanks, I stand corrected... and a little wiser. ^_^
Well I know why I like the show. I can't make someone else see it the same way. It has exactly the kind of humor I'm looking for, and not the dumb bathroom kind you see in too many modern cartoons these days. It reminds me of the old 90s shows, and that's why I watch it.
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteHey look up. I apologized. I still can't say I trust what you're saying 100% but Tosxychor convinced me to give you a chance, you really might just be a confused brony looking for a little pony love. You can hold my Applejack if you want.
*holds out Applejack*
Spamming the poll doesn't work for 1, and for 2 is a massive waste of everyone's time.
ReplyDeleteSpamming the poll doesn't work for 1, and for 2 is a massive waste of everyone's time.
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman How is it "rigging" a poll to vote in it? That's the whole point.
ReplyDeleteAs far as "convert[ing]" you, if you've seen the show and it's not your cup of tea, there's not really much we can do.
Just going to point out for those who missed it, Bebs said, a couple of posts above, pretty much all that needs to be said!
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, it's great to know you aren't mad about the swarm of pony votes XD
@IbeforeEexceptafterC
ReplyDeleteYeah, I started typing that comment before you posted yours, so I didn't see it until I was done. Sorry about that.
I'm halfway through the Retrospective, and it's pretty interesting...

@sevooHypreD Oh heck no! We're impressed with your teamwork. Friendship is magic indeed!
ReplyDelete@Jimperator It isn't just one non-brony upset about this, not all bronies liked what happend with this and pretty much are facepalming about it.
ReplyDeleteI honestly am impressed that we as a whole are concerned about the morality of our actions. Even if we disagree about it, we all seem to want to do the right thing. That's a quality not seen it many fandoms.
ReplyDeleteWE ALWAYS WIN! Why? Because ponies, that's why. Ponies are awesome and we, as a community, are at least 20% cooler than any other fan-base out there.
ReplyDelete"My Little Pony: EquestriaDaily FTW! 53% 13,600"
ReplyDeleteEquestriaDaily FTW!!!!!
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteThat's just it; you haven't lost respect, mainly because you're continuing a conversation, as opposed to throwing a fit and acting like a child. Pay attention to the phrase "internet respect" as I put it. Note the usage of the word internet as well as the quotation marks. That's because respect on the internet is worth just as much as a grain of sand from the Sahara Desert, and holds just as much water as a concept.
As far as "enjoying a show for gameplay," Metal Gear Solid 4 would like to say hi. Jokes aside, it's the same concept, really when you think about it. You play the games for the gameplay, disregarding all the ridiculousness of the setting and characters and whatnot in the process (but then, are you really enjoying the game by cutting out so much of it?); you watch the movies by doing the same thing to them (again, I have to wonder can one really enjoy the movie if they ignore and throw away so much of it?). Books do not escape this same concept, nor does television or radio.
Hell, REAL LIFE falls under the same catch-all, and there's a lot of it you CANNOT ignore just to "enjoy the gameplay." Under all that, ponies being the back-breaking straw is just confusing (I can understand anime being somewhat unbelievable, but that's a combination of cultural conventions, art style, and entertainment/social mores that someone outside of Japan may or may not be accustomed to).
Then again, I'm the type of guy that can see everything for exactly what it is, and enjoys things under the context they were intended to be enjoyed, then afterwards looks at things in other views and lights to see if they can be enjoyed that way too.
Hey guys, it's all good! Please take a look at the poll now :) We wanted to acknowledge your contribution there, too!
ReplyDelete<3 to all of you. It's okay to vote as a team, really. I think it's awesome that people were concerned, but I promise, we think this community is amazing. We have Brony friends on Flickr who were also voting, but nothing so huge as this! Thank you again.
I buy YuGiOh card singles from this site. ToyWiz, ftw.

ReplyDeleteThanks Bebs! It's very sweet of you to write back to us like this. ^_^;
@shadowfalcon76 "Then again, I'm the type of guy that can see everything for exactly what it is"
ReplyDeleteWell that might be part of my problem. I can't see things for what they are, primarily because what they are is built off of all the details that make it up. I'm very analytical, but not very intuitive, as a result I notice lots of errors and plot holes (no pun intended) without being able to notice more general concepts like good writing, character development, etc.
Also, I finished watching the Retrospective. I'm not sure if it really changed my opinion on anything, but it was interesting.
@Bebs
ReplyDeleteGlad you all are ok with it.
And now I know of a new site that I can use when I go one one of my crazy Transformer buying binges. Everybody wins! Huzzahs all around!
I'm glad to see this being resolved on both fronts- that we're not causing problems for the hosting site for the poll, and that people are being (mostly) reasonable.
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
My first post may have gotten lost in the pile, but I really do recommend this fanfiction- you don't need to know too much about the show initially, and it may be easier to get into because it is far from being pink, girly, and saccharine.
http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/04/story-fallout-equestria.html
@Bebs, thanks for stopping by! I'm really curious about one thing for the poll: was including ponies in the poll a joke? And how are people responding to it?
On the positive side, this is like free advertising for ToyWiz. They even sell Angry Birds plushies! /)^3^(\
ReplyDeleteNot only do we win, we have been honoured for it. Good work, people.
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you found it interesting, at the very least now maybe you can understand where the fans of the show are coming from a little better.
@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteOh, by no means do I mean to imply that I don't get analytical as well. Part of seeing things for what they are is taking in both the whole and the minutae, but I don't let the one stop the enjoyment of the other. For me, it's a whole package deal.
@Sindri
ReplyDeleteI believe thou art forgetting the Autobot Matrix of leadership.
I voted Transformers even though it is a futile effort considering what happened with the Hub vote. Discord got like two episodes and somehow he's more evil then Megatron the guy who caused a genocide of his own people.
Love how it says EquestriaDaily FTW on the poll haha
ReplyDelete@Dag1984
ReplyDeleteWell, to be fair, mind rape and breaking reality tends to weigh in a bit more heavily on the "Naughty" scale than worldwide genocide (ask Emperor Joker about that). Don't ask me how that works out, but I can see the angle on it just fine.
@Tenaris
ReplyDeleteI see. I still think it's a fairly non-issue for anyone who's stirred drama over it. Internet polls are notoriously bad for accuracy. And as has been confirmed; it was made with the intent to have fun. So if one fandom is directing it's members to vote in a poll and it subsequently wins, all that really tells me is which fandom is the most organized.
But by all means, have at it.
@Kailea Oh no, including ponies was no joke at all. I really do happen to enjoy them myself - my Flickr is ToyWizBebs, and I just posted pony portraits of my new ones yesterday. But the theme there was a battle of retro franchises that are still going strong. Ponies had to be there!
ReplyDeleteBut people generally respond very well! Nobody complains about my ponies! >:)
I like the update:
ReplyDeleteMy Little Pony: EquestriaDaily FTW!
we went from 17% to 50% after one EqD post. now THATS the magic of friendship right there.
ReplyDeleteHmm, the poll has been changed to "Equestriadaily FTW!"
ReplyDeleteNot sure if sarcastic...
@Jimperator Naw im good i voiced my opinion enough about the matter already.
ReplyDelete@Forrest Hailman
ReplyDeleteMinecraft... here's Art of the Dress done with note blocks followed by other videos, I believe all on the same server. Here's a Minecraft compilation post from last July. Here's a Youtube vid of Winter Wrap Up on Rockband. Legend of Zelda: a comic! There are platforming games out there, and others in the works. Try... Equestria games? Oh yeah, and the Team Fortress, Ã la pony. ^_^ fan fiction and custom figures.
@2e7557de-282a-11e1-922d-000bcdcb5194 Oh no, not sarcastic at all. We wanted to acknowledge this community for contributing - the teamwork here was phenomenal :) We really appreciate you.
ReplyDeleteThank you guys for your efforts.
ReplyDeleteI have to say when I saw that "resistance is futile", couldn't have imagine it meaning resistance to non-bronydom...
I probably just don't like the show, though for some reason I'm just not willing to accept that. I don't even know what it is, there's just something about it that frustrates me.
@Bebs
ReplyDeleteVery cute ponies on your Flickr page Bebs. LOL! I see Applejack has traded her shotgun in for rifle with a scope! She'd fit right in with the awesome My Little Fortress ponies, here.
@Forrest Hailman No worries, Forrest, it's been fun. ^_^
ReplyDelete@Bebs Epic pictures of Mastercheif riding Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie xD I always new the Chief was a Brony!
ReplyDelete@frith Oh wow, that's awesome! I have a custom pony drying on my back porch right now ;) I'll post her on Flickr when she's done in the next day or two most likely.
ReplyDelete@Bebs
ReplyDeleteThats great then! ;)
I was not sure, seeing how it sparked dislike in some people...
@Bebs
ReplyDeleteSweet! You just know we love custom ponies. ^_^
Isn't spamming a poll and intentionally [trying] to cheat a little petty? Even with the all in good fun disclaimer edit, the comments just reek of petty, rabid behavior that kind of turn some people off.
ReplyDeleteLol pwnying vote surveys
ReplyDelete*insert troll face here*
Jesus, @Forrest Hailman think it's unfair people to vote on a poll, but DO NOT think it's unfair to mobilize a whole fandom just to convert him? XD
ReplyDeleteSorry to say that, but what a attention whore.
@B-Man
ReplyDeleteParticipating in the poll is absolutely okay, since it was related to something we all like here: MLP. We've been made aware of it, and we voted for what we like. There was no harm in it(as far as I know there is no "prize" for the poll winner: no extra items, no discount etc).
We didnt rub the show in other people's face (there is an MLP option in the poll after all).
Im not sure what do you mean by cheating though... Thats not nice...
@B-Man
ReplyDeleteI think it's only cheating if you create bots and spam the poll, skewering the results. If everyone just went there and voted because word got out - then I would say no. Never been any harm in spreading the word about a vote. Heck it's encouraged in any proper democracy after all.
@B-Man
ReplyDeleteCheck all the comments from Bebs above you. Bebs is from ToyWiz.com, and they think it's awesome that this community participated like that - they even edited the poll option to read "My Little Pony: EquestriaDaily FTW!"
Considering how the poll has changed to now say My Little Pony: EquestriaDaily FTW... I'm pretty sure a brony working for the company talked them into adding it to the poll for a bet.
ReplyDelete@Christian Friis Soerensen
ReplyDeleteNope, Bebs answered that question as well: My Little Pony is in there because the theme of the poll is a "battle" between retro franchises that are still going strong today. No pro vs anti-brony bet was involved. 8^) I guess either ToyWiz doesn't sell Strawberry Shortcake or Polly Pocket figures, or they lack the raw magical power of ponies and HeMan.
I feel there are 4 reasons the Ponies should win.
ReplyDeleteFirst, there is a high number of them.
Second, they can do a much wider range of actions than the others can.
Third, even taking a small example of the group is more likely to give members on the high end of the scale among what can be done within all groups.
And finally, most of the other participates in the fight would mistake them for simple mounts rather than opponents.
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFT
ReplyDeleteThe poll choice now reads 'My Little Pony: EquestriaDaily FTW!'
WAY TO GO GUYS
I'm baffled by all the remarks of "WE'RE WINNING!" What the hell, people? We are just people watching a TV show, there is nothing to "win."
ReplyDeleteBronies, I am disappoint.
ReplyDeleteI must say... this is almost surprising ? :
ReplyDelete« My Little Pony: EquestriaDaily FTW! »
Do they have spies or something ?
Also, blablabla and ''oh gods, what are doing ! *faint*'' (people going 'crazy' about this)... It's a POLL, I think the Internet will survive and not die because we massively voted in a POLL.
*shrug* You like ponies, you vote ponies... there's no mysterious hidden meaning-of-life, or Evil Corporation hidden behind that.
@Nova25 They do have spies. Look up Bebs who came from ToyWiz and chatted to us about the poll. And there is a hidden meaning-of-life: Both ponies and Transformers each had 42% at least once. ;)
ReplyDeleteHeh, someone should find a Transformers equivalent of EqD and tell them about this poll. Maybe that way we can have some competition and stop complainers at the same time.
@FamusJamus Oh, it's nothing so sinister as a spy! Someone from this forum posted about the ponies on our poll on Facebook, so I jumped over to say thank you :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that's when we changed the option as an acknowledgement of your pony power here!
Bebs at ToyWiz
Hah, the voting option says: "My Little Pony: EquestriaDaily FTW!".
