Glowing ponies, yayy~ I wish they would come to the States too. But I'm not going to hold my breath on that happening.
As for why they changed them. Probably just to try and make them more appealing to kids would be my guess.
As I said when we found out about these I would be dissapointed if the Rainbow Dash one didn't blast out rainbows over a 5 mile radius, so as promised...

Interestingly enough, I found the instruction booklet for a "Shine Bright Rainbow Dash" on the ground as I was going to work today. It's entirely in English, but I have no idea where it came from. The nearest fast-food joints had no such toys.

We got them too in Mexico, but they haven't release the whole set near home, just Pinky Pie, they are a bit goofy, but i want my set, the good thing about Mexico is that sometimes you can get them from street vendors, I´ll try to get some extra for E-bay, or perhaps a contest for a set?
Those are pretty darn cute.
Also, I like the poses they chose for them. Especially Pinkie!

Gah, I want MLP Happy Meals in Australia. We had G3.5 happy meal toys and my friend who worked there got one and turned it into some freaky thing and posted it on Facebook.
No Fluttershy and no Rarity, but the collection isn't bad.

That's an odd thing for a pony to do.
I just stumbled upon macdonalds to check out the toys that arrived finally in my country (Chile) And they are not that good at all... I got pinkypie and they can't even get the cutiemarks right, she only has one ballon in only one side of her flank!
I'll still sollect them though

Today when coming home from the university, just after reading this while on classes I entered a Mcdonalds nad asked for a happy meal (first time in my life). The cashier asked me if I wanted the toy for boys (bakugan) or girls (ponies). I stared at her for a few seconds and slowly said: "girls..." and gladly saw how she put a smiling Pinkie Pie inside the box.
Being quite a socially awkward guy I thought this was going to be more difficult. I guess the next three will be even easier. Except I'll have to tell her if she tries to give me Pinkie Pie again... Anyway, totally worth it.
Now Fluttershy not having one I kinda understand.... She's too shy to light up the dark like that, but Rarity? Maybe she has another reason. ...
I can confirm that these are the ones that Mexico has (info relevant for those Bronies really near the border i guess ;3)
Actually I'm disappointed about the look. I was hoping them to be more like the american ones. I'll get my Twi anyway. And RD needs to be about 20% cooler (needs green hair IMO)
Having worked in the toy industry before, I completely know why they did what they did (cheap bastards!) and I do have to remember that these are McDonald's toys on top of it (absolutely no profit margin)...but it kills me that they couldn't come up with a better way of hiding the screw holes and that the plastics guys didn't put some light piping in there to light up the whole body...sigh.
Well, maybe the Cutie marks aren't the right, and Applejack is without her hat. But I'll still get Pinkie Pie and Twilight by Tuesday when I'll go to McDonalds again.
If there is a Rarity one, it needs a voice chip to shout "Idea!" whenever it's head lights up.
I want to sell them on Ebay , but I need to know if someones interested.
