    [Grimdark-Gore, Death, Violence]
The author would like to let everyone know that part 1 is the only gory part, and is optional, though sets the mood for the rest.

    Author: Kenneth Nigel Acker
Description: Something ancient has awoken in Equestria. Something evil. It was stopped once before. Can it be stopped again?

Hmm, a little grimdark. I haven't read one of these in awhi- THATPICTURE.

      I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION.

    2. That was very gory. But it wasn't well written.

    3. I don't have time to read this right now but CHRIST WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT PICTURE.

      Will read later.

    4. I thought it was a good suspense story. Lack of closure or explanation kinda made me =/ though.

Also WHAT IN CELESTIA'S NAME IS THAT THING.

      oh boy, here we go...

    6. That didn't even seem like a story, just someone getting off on gore.

      ReplyDelete
    7. That was different, in a good way. Sure, it was graphic, but it wasn't to the point of needless gore or eroticism. I am actually interested on where this story will take us, if Sethisto wishes to keep this up!

Also, for those of you who were wondering what the picture is for, it's a... ummm, monster relevant to the story.

    8. While the gore was a bit much, I did think that each segment was pretty well written, except for maybe the Fluttershy scene at the end. That said, it did feel very disjointed and each segment seemed to have nothing to do with any of the others except for being centered around part of the mane cast. I get that that's what the author was trying for, and that the last paragraph is supposed to explain all that away, but it is a bit vague, the fact that "it was all a dream," could have been made a little clearer, if that is indeed what's going on.

The only reason I'm voting 2 stars is because, on its own, it's nothing more than just "EVERYBODY DIES, IT WAS A HORRID NIGHTMARE, OH LOOK OMNIOUS THING". I'm assuming this is going to continue?

    10. Have to agree, it really was just gore for the sake of gore.
Not bad to read if your in the mood, but if your not in the mood there is not much reason to read it.

people get "into the mood" for gore?

      You guys are nuts!

      I can't stand it!

    12. Huh.
Well, that was... something. I suppose I can criticize the way the author captured Applejack, but honestly there's not much else to say. It was a little confusing, but I think that added to the overall wtfness of it all. Pretty good story, for what it was.
      3/5

    13. Hi. Yes, this I am going to go somewhere with this. I accidentally messed up the link to the 2nd part.

As for the picture, that's something I had some rather nasty recurring dreams about.

    14. Of course people get into the mood for gore. Same reason some people like slashers.

Me, I like horror movies, but I'm no fan of gorn. This story is well written, has good descriptions and builds suspense, but it's true that taken as it is now, there seems to be little point to everything except "rocks fall, everyone dies". There is something ancient and evil, but we don't know what it is, the bearers of the Elements of Harmony (the most powerful magic in Equestria, capable of roflstomping one of the princesses) are mostly dead, and that cosmic horror in the woods wants revenge on... someone. Denouement would be appreciated.

    16. ohey Part 2

It's a lot clearer what happened in part 1 and it's more obvious that you're taking the story in some direction, so for now I'll stick with what I said about it being a good suspense story.

    17. Anon from 6.04 PM here. I must confess, I TOTALLY missed that everone was dreaming. I Feel like an idiot now; Sorry for not getting that, that sentence I must have skipped. Comes with speed reading I guess.

    18. Wow, people must hate gore.
This didn't deserve 2 stars, in my opinion anyway. Maybe I'm too soft.

      no seriously,
      WHAT THE FUCK
      i is escared....

    20. I can understand the low ratings for when the first part was taken alone, but the second part does an excellent job of setting up what should be an interesting story!

      ReplyDelete
    21. Probably the first grimdark I enjoyed. Interested to see how this turns out.

    22. Part 3 has been mailed to Sethisto, so it should appear sometime. Assuming I didn't accidentally the link again. Just so you folks know I'm aiming for six...maybe seven parts, depending on how it comes out of my head.

    23. @Sethisto

I read Cupcakes, The Severing and The Reconnection stories one after another and i didn't even tear or think otherwise. To me they are just just stories.

On another note, i had an alternate ending ending planned out for The Reconnection but i has no write skills for what i want.

    24. HAHA, THOUGHT I WOULD BE FOOLED, DIDN'T YOU?

      Kenneth Nigel Acker = KNAcker.

    25. @4:35pm anon

Damn. You've seen through my thinly veiled attempt at subtlety. Now define knacker. :p

Part 4 is in progress. I think I may delay posting anymore segments until I have it all done, if only to avoid anymore confusion like the first bit caused when it was by itself.

4:35 anon here, I demand more of this story soon, Kenneth.

    27. This is really good so far. The threat is suitably, er, threatening, and the little showdown against the creature with the Elements of Harmony was cool.

I reeaally hope there's a happy ending, though...or at least a bittersweet one.

      ReplyDelete
    28. Ok, part 4 has been sent to Sethisto. It would have been up sooner but it's been hard for me to write worrying about whether or not I would have a job come next Monday. Thankfully the answer is yes.

    30. These last two chapters were not very grimdark. I hope something gruesome happens in the next chapter.

    31. Keep it coming! Great story so far.

    33. Well... the story itself isn't so bad...

But there's just a tiny thing (that will probably be explained later) that bothers me...

''We did THAT to imprison It 99999 years ago... and NOW 99999 years later there's no other way to do it'' ...yeah, one would think that things have evolved a BIT since that time, but apparently not ?

      Anyways... we will see...

    34. Pic reminds me of the gatherers in Amnesia mixed with the gas zombies from COD

    35. Good concept, surprised that I havn't readone like it before.

      ReplyDelete
    36. Who the hell gave this a low rating?

Sure, it's certainly grimdark. But only the first part is directly horrifying/gory, and even then, it's pretty well written and all the characters seem to be represented rather well to me, given the circumstances...

Oh, whatever. *I* am really enjoying it. I don't really mind grimdark as long as it isn't grimdark without reason and poorly written, and the plot for this is certainly intriguing.

Hey! You! Kenneth!! You get back here and post another chapter!! *shakes fist* Glad to hear your job situation didn't go badly. : )

    37. Part 1 was rather repulsing, but after Part 4 I'm glad I kept reading.
Now I'm really curious where this goes.
