Hmmmm... Big Drawfriend today, but I'm here starting this with zero comments up, so my timing is pretty good. Now when I'm done typing up responses to all of them, I can claim first!
ReplyDelete1) This seems familiar, and the '11 date on it suggests it is one I've seen before, but then I really like these epic "real" Starswirl pics, so I'm not about to complain.
2) Wow... that's a treat overload. Lots of impressive detail in this one.
3) There's something appealingly humorous about this Luna. I just like her and her serious look.
4) There's something different about Twilight... can't quite put my finger on it... Really gorgeous, clean coloring and shading on this.
5) I don't know what's happening... but she better wake up okay and read that Valentine! Lovely lighting.
6) The lines and the expression make her seem a bit dizzy... or perhaps overly infatuated with Aeris.
7) That's not the kind of thing Miss Smartypants should see, you know. Send her to do her homework.

1 - We seriously need a Starswirl the Bearded episode soon. I love the combination of blue and pink, it makes for a great color harmony.
ReplyDelete2 - As odd as the characters look, that food looks so appeticing it makes me want to poke my hand through the screen and eat it. Yummy.
3 - I think the mane looks too similar to the body, but I like her regal attitude.
4 - The amount of details is so overwhelming that it took me thirty seconds to notice Twilight's wings.
5 - This is peaceful yet disturbing. I hope she's just sleeping D:

13 - Oh my God, this crossover should happen, in any way shape or form, someone should make a fanfic out of this. Make it like the Magic Key, have a Zurg, an Angry Bird and a Twilight toy come to live and try to take over the world. Or something. Brilliant!
14 - Equestria Noir. I like the dress design.
15 - I have no idea what's going on, and I don't know if I want to find out.
16 - This is the cutest thing I have seen today.
17 - Oh the Pun-to-Metter is off the charts here. I love the lighting in this drawing though.
18 - Wow. I have no words, the color on this one is intense with fierce and power.
19 - These two look like a concept drawing for a Square-Enix RPG. I don't know if I'm okay with it or not, but it's tremendously well drawn.
20 - Derpy's gonna derp. Odd that her wings are folded, almost like she's-Oh crap, she's falling! She's falling! Someone save her!
21 - Hahahaha! And in the third movie, it's Dinky the one who's got to save her mom from the eeeevil Ahuizotl.
22 - I guess Gummy will only smoosh the muffin. I love the way his eyes look there.
23 - No you fool! The perspective is a bit odd, but it's compensated by how cute Derpy looks.
ReplyDelete24 - If My Little Pony had been made by the creators of Heavy Metal, this is how it'd look like. This is one piece of badass artwork.
25 - Celestia's eye seems too big. The rest of the drawing is fine, and Luna's expression is funny.
26 - I can't put my finger on the videogame refferences they are doing. However, I can totally see these two having a cat fight.
27 - Oh PixelKitties, you magnificent joker <3 I love how annoyed Trixie looks, she's too cute with that facial expression of hers.
28 - I love the warm tones of the image, really sweet and tender without shoving it in our eyes.
29 - I didn't know what it was refferencing to, until I saw the RareWare logo. I shed a tear.
30 - So that's Sweetie Bot. It took me a while to find a picture of her.
31 - Maybe we will see a Bonnie and Clyde refference in this show. They have refferenced so much Rated-R material already it's kind of compulsory.
32 - Derpy is the classiest steampunk assistant.
33 - This is definitely my favorite one of the entire DrawFriend. Those beautiful purple eyes. I could look at this for days and don't get tired of it. Octavia is best BG pony.
34 - YAY! The lines around the bodies look a bit odd, but that's because this is the first time I see something like this.
35 - Can someone say overloaded? I love all those little details, for such a small picture.
36 - Mmhmm, am I the only one who feels like this was heavily inspired by a similar picture involving humans? Even the pose looks humanized, not ponified.
37 - Aaah, hands! Hands! My God, don't let this happen in "It's about time".
38 - She's got a rock. That's all I've got.
39 - Even in moustache matters, Rarity has the classiest one. I wouldn't mind seeing her screw up this spell.
40 - The dream-like feel of the picture reminds me of a Guillermo del Toro movie. I love the parasprites detail right there.
41 - Her face says it all.
42 - The hair over her nose is distracting, makes me want to remove it with my finger. That's good though, shows I am involved in the picture.
43 - I wonder if what they are seeing are the remains of the moon crashing into Equestria.
44 - Awwwwww. It just-just...Awwwww Doctor, that's so sweet. Very sweet picture, lovely.
45 - I'm pretty sure pegasi can do that! If they can move clouds and rainbows, I bet they can also control lightning. Love the effects on this one.
46 - In the future, researchers will find this and try to figure out how or why ponies and pegasi had this disposition.
47 - Discord must be one hell of a tango dancer. Look at how he pulls Celestia to him. This picture is both hilarious and really interesting at the same time.

ReplyDeleteSaucy standards should be codified, 'cause right now, they appear to be entirely random. There's stuff that has IMPLICATIONS just as saucy as the one tagged picture, and there's some pretty heavy gore in this one too that's not hidden.

#9: Confusing "your" and "you're" is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me, but aside from my little quirk, this is a charming drawing.
#11: The way her mouth is drawn looks odd for a MLP character, but otherwise this is a wonderful DJ P0n-3 drawing, bold and dynamic as any portrait of her performing should be.
#15: I... don't think that drawing belongs here, even though it's really well done.
#16: Another cute oldie; I love how Scootaloo looks as she struggles with lifting the others...
#18: I have no idea what happened to Rarity, but that's a great representation of a flaming pony.
#21: Daring Doo and the Legend of the Golden Muffin! Cute.
#23: A scene from the afore-mentioned book? The way that ceiling's angled, when she steps on the trigger the first thing it'll hit will be her rump, which will shatter the ceiling so she'll be safe. She knows what she's doing. ;)
#24: I would so love to see Twilight (and friends, if possible) in an epic battle like this someday. Though I'd like to see a scene where she's fighting alongside her friends, not against them... Terrific staging and lighting.

I was trying to announce an art stream - and sent along my example and received a "image accepted" message!
I thought that was a bit odd - but now I can see what happened! For some reason whoever read my original message only saw the "example" and didn't read that I was announcing a stream. This wasn't meant to be a repost - just a stream announcement!

I don't think it'd be possible to codify standards of sauciness. The only image displayed that looks even slightly saucy to me is #10, though I don't think it goes far enough to require hiding IMHO. (#8 doesn't strike me as any saucier than Fluttershy's bit at the beginning of "SSCS6K" where she's embarassed when Dash removes her covers.) I agree that #15 should have been hidden, though I suspect Sethisto just didn't look close enough; the fact that she's apparently not perturbed by it is enough to move it from "horrifying" to "disturbing", at least.

ReplyDeleteAgreed, codifying morality is essentially impossible. I hoped to provoke the EqD team to think about their standards. Or at least into being consistent within a single Drawfriend.
I'm an adult, so from my perspective the saucy tags are an exercise in silliness. But I recognize that kids do come to this site, so the saucy tags are a reasonable, and even laudable, measure. However, they're implemented in such a scattershot way that much of the time they might as well not exist.
Just yesterday, #14 was a JJ pic which depicted Celestia in a schoolgirl uniform, with a spanked bottom. It was not saucied. Today, #8 is Rarity wearing lingerie and a blush. Not saucied. #10 is either a high-speed photo of a wrestling match in progress, or impending sexytimes. Not saucied. If it was obviously on a bed, it likely would have been saucied, because then the IMPLICATIONS are right in your face. The angle in #25 has been saucied before for plot, but not this time. If Celestia was blushing, would it have been saucied? Who can say?
To reiterate, I personally don't see any need for the worry about sauciness, but I respect why the EqD team does have that worry. But the near-complete lack of consistency about it seems to undermine the entire reason for the tags.
The images are getting loaded properly now.
