Here's something fun for you guys to discuss- personally I'm rather interested in what you all think, because I've been mulling over this one for a bit.
Let's say the mane six (plus whatever background ponies you wish to involve) were to form a rock band. Not an electronic or a jazz band, but a straight-up electric guitar and bass rock band. Which instrument do you think each pony would be suited to play?
Keep in mind that most rock bands include the basic, core instruments: the electric guitar, electric bass, and drums. There are, however, notable additions that some bands make, such as additional (rhythm) guitars, keyboards, and more exotic instruments such as synthesizers. Some add acoustic instruments such as classical basses and acoustic guitars.
With that in mind, let's hear it! Make your perfect pony rock band.
Personally, I'm fond of Maretallica:
Dash on rhythm guitar and vocals, Twilight on lead guitar, Applejack on bass, and Rarity on drums.

I'll have to go with The Ponyphonic Spree-
ReplyDeleteDash on vocals/guitar
Applejack on guitar
Rarity on bass
Pinkie Pie on drums
Fluttershy on flute, with her birds as background choir
Octavia on cello
Vinyl Scratch on theremin
And I can't decide on any others...
This isn't easy. Depending on which pony you pick up for Vocals, you get a radically different band.
ReplyDeleteDash -> You get Thrash Metal or even something more badass
Pinkie -> You get some softcore stuff, like Pop; or possibly some crazy electronic music (?)
Applejack -> You get Country! And potentially more (Hey Ocean!)
Fluttershy -> You get something too cute to have a name; I'd totally go for that
Rarity -> You get Gothic or Symphonic Metal
Twilight -> You get lots of things; I'd personally like a Power Metal Twilight.
So, I can't make up my mind.
Twilight - vocals
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash - lead guitar, vocals
Fluttershy - bass guitar
Applejack - drums
Rarity - synth keyboard
Pinkie Pie - TAMBOURINE
Fluttershy = bass
ReplyDeleteRainbow = lead guitar
Rarity = keyboard
Applejack = second guitar
Pinkie = drums
Twilight = choreography? Vocalist? Lights + pyrotechnics? dunno.
Fluttershy - Vocals
ReplyDeleteRarity - Vocals
Rainbow Dash - Guitar
Applejack - Bass
Twilight - DJ / Mixer
Pinkie Pie - Drums
In my mind I imagine them covering Linkin Park songs. Leave Out All The Rest for example.
@Shador Wait, what? I said the same for every one of them (Twilight as a DJ / Mixer kinda the same as Synth / Keyboard) except Fluttershy and Rarity are just doing duets. Nice choices. For some reason, people here are putting Flutters at the drums for example... What the hell?
ReplyDeleteBruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
ReplyDeleteSpike as Clarence (Epic Sax Spike video) (R.I.P., Big Man)
Rainbow Dash as Bruce (raspy voice, deepest voice of the mane 6 so far as I can tell)
Applejack as Max Weinberg on drums (All that applebucking gets some kickass drum beats)
Rarity as Van Zandt on Guitar (Originally there (Ponyville), left to pursue other ideas but always returns)
Twilight as Nils on Guitar (Joined when it already existed, been a part since)
Fluttershy as Garry on Bass (Just chilling in the background, doesn't say much)
Pinkie Pie as Roy on keyboard (Srsly, that piano gets played as crazy as those guitars)
Octavia as Soozie on strings
Mare-Do-Well as 'Phantom' Danny Federici on the organ (R.I.P. Danny)
The Offspring = The Hoofspring.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy on bass (Neither Greg K or 'Shy talk much), Dash doing vocals and rhythm guitar (If you haven't seen Rainbow Dash - You're Gonna Go Far, Kid then you haven't lived. Dexter Holland sounds a lot like Dash when his voice is high pitched), Applejack on lead guitar (Dexter and Noodles are BFF's so I imagine RD and AJ are just as close) and Pinkie on drums (It sounds like the drummer was an ordinary person who got handed a pair of drumsticks and got told to play while sounding extremely awesome and skilled at the same time).
