ReplyDelete#2: Wonder how many "saucy" complaints this one will draw; it really isn't, though it's a lot "shippier" than I like. Even so, the eyes are beautiful.
#3: There's some odd contrasts between cartoony and realistic in this young Granny Smith portrait, but somehow that makes it even better.
#5: Beautiful real-media (colored pencil?) drawing of Applejack, with a different hat for once. She actually looks cute in a straw hat, though I'm sure she wouldn't find it as practical as her cowboy hat.
#6: Another beautiful portrait, that almost looks like real media as well. I love the lighting, and the graceful curves of Fluttershy's mane and tail.

A nice relief from the often darker and serious depictions she's put in. Vinyl seems to be misbehaving in some way, shape or form, as is usual for her. :P I love the expressions too I must say. Especially that big grin on Vinyl's face. lol Really lovely image.

I love a Friday Drawfriend at the end of the workday when there's a new episode in the morning to boot. Just makes the end of the week for me.
ReplyDelete1) I had seen the linework B&W version of this earlier and was looking forward to seeing the color when completed. it certainly didn't disappoint. Love steampunk and ponies.
2) Twilight and Rarity, eh? If there were a couple, that would be one OCD household.
3) Such a crisp Apple portrait, with really vibrant colors. Quite striking.
4) I'm digging the early training images, especially the Lyra/Bonbon ones. I always hear the them to "Stripes" when looking at them.
5) Ooh, colored pencils. Very nice use of them, and I really like AJ's straw hat.
6) I like the bluetone shadows in this Fluttershy picture... gives the whole thing a great feel.
7) Another sharp and stunning pony dress portrait. Did Twilight wear her hair up like that for the gala? Regardless, I like the look here.
8) Aha! Great-granny Smith was right to be jealous... Looks like Celestia is horning in on the settler men with that style.

ReplyDeleteThere are two kinds of zombie stories... the ones I like, where the good guys stick together and make it out...
and then there are these... I can't stand to see the ponies we all love so much get rendered to a mess of killing each other and only a small handful survive.
I know that's not the point of zombie... but I'm just so sick of sad end zombie. I like Zombieland style zombie. People make it to the end. It's sad to see what has happened, but the story is about making sure you and your friends survive, not how few are left. Even watching a named BG pony like Nurse Redheart get killed and turned in Cantering Death really bummed me out. To see AJ lying on the dirt with her brains blown out, and Twi, Sweetie Belle, Big Mac, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash all turned... with their closest friends pitted against them in a kill or be killed battle...
I can't stand those. This was such a happy drawfriend, and then that tore down my high spirits.
back to Sisterhooves Social... That episode was a bonding episode between Sweetie Belle and her sister Rarity, and between Applebloom and Applejack. Of course your pic has Applebloom losing her whole family, with AJ's brains splattered right in front of her, and Sweetie Bell is a ghastly, murderous rage driven shell, advancing on Rarity like the "unsister" she will now and forever be.
That wrecked me for the day...
Neigh... The sadness has been doubled.
And now... Rage Quit.
