Extremely well-written, although a tad unbelievable. I found it hard to read after the realization that Luna made Blue-blood be a jerk. Still, it was endearing and cute.

ReplyDeleteWell, it was quite an entertaining read. Nothing amazing, but good, quirky idea, an adorable Luna and an abacus. The writing could use some last-minute polish, especially the summarisation at the end of Luna "helping" each of the mane cast felt a little forced.
ReplyDeleteMy only other concern is that, as a whole, it feels unfinished, though, despite the [COMPLETE] tag - the abrupt ending in particular makes it seem more of a first chapter than anything.
Good work, nothing spectacular, but solid and fun. 4/5
Meh. I liked the story but I found it hard to read. Some of the sentences ran on a bit, and the vocabulary range left much to be desired. I'd read a sequel if this was improved on, however.

ReplyDeleteWith regards to the "Complete" tag, that's only because it's a stand-alone story and I planned to go through with my idea for more chapters on the condition that people actually wanted more. Since that seems to be the case I'll get to work on continuing.

ReplyDelete*cries* Why does everyone think I have an abacus that I named? Do you know how hard it is to do trans mystic six dimensional calculations with nothing but beads on a dowel? It used to take forever using an astrolabe, abacus(it was the best thing at the time), book of tables(math tables), leyline charts and a compass mistica to work with. Now half of this is not needed.

ReplyDeleteI know Lunar Sparkle is probably a dumb name, but I LOVE Twilight x Luna shipping and I've never made a ship name before. xD Really, I love any shipping with Luna (I hope she'll play a huge role in Season 2... I really wanted to see more of her. Such an underused character with so much potential...), but TwiLuna and LunaDash/MoonBow (credits to Kits for the name of MoonBow as a comment on "A Rainbow Volored Shooting Star") are my favorites.

The irony, poopnate, is that Rainbow Colored Falling Stars is written by my ex, the same person whose shenanigans have crippled my desire to write this week. It's why chapter four is so late. I've been up and down all week long and made progress, so I hope to put it all together and start the next arc with a bang. I hope you'll enjoy Luna's Best Night Ever: Luna's Laughter.

Edit to One of my earlier posts: After seeing the Equestria Party Banner, I just realized that I've never heard of LunaTavia (or whatever Luna x Octavia would be. I don't feel like going back to the HUGE shipping chart of all names ever possible). Another Luna ship to add to my list of possible good ships. xD They look good together. Has anyone ever written a LunaTavia ShipFic?

ReplyDeleteIt's not bad... but really, Celestia should have been more sympathetic and **amused** when she realized that Luna had been trying to help. 'Tia plays the heavy far too often for someone who's been as mild-mannered and forgiving as she has been in actual canon.

ReplyDeleteWill you all hate me if I confess to having written a Luna X Twilight clopfic instead of finishing chapter five? I needed something to take my mind off of my frustration with the musical number that's in the next chapter and it just sorta happened on its own. On the up side, chapter five is almost done and I feel refreshed enough now to finish the damn thing so I can show it to you all. Once my editing team (see: one coffee-flavored pony who I force to put up with my shenanigans) has looked over both chapter five and The Scent of Violets they'll get put on my dA page. By the end of the weekend there'll be a new chapter ready to be submitted to ED and a saucy vignette for anypony who likes that sort of thing. If you dislike clopfiction then I apologize. I write what I feel compelled to write and I felt compelled to write something steamy. It's just how I roll. *sunglasses*

Huh, chapter 3 does not seem to load at all, whether following the link or going from your DA page. Thst said, I guess I'm not too disappointed. This is a plot I've seen before, and far better written. A number of the running gags were amusing (which abavus came first, this or Progress?), but I did find my disbelief stretched far too thinly in the first part. Plus, it's a story about Luna not doing a whole lot.
