• Massive Thank You Letter to Hasbro from Ponychan

    Over on Ponychan, a brony going by the name of Angelthebunny compiled 615+ brony thank you responses to Hasbro for both Equestria Girls and the Friendship is Magic in general. .  They asked me to forward it to the guy that sent me the video, so hopefully it reaches them!

    If not, here it is! It's a massive Google document, so give it some time to load if you want to read it yourself.

    Thank You Letter

    Hasbro really has been good to us so far.  Our videos remain on Youtube untouched, Derpy is a canon character, and now their new FiM commercial has an awesome shout-out for both DJ-P0n3 and Bronies as a whole.

    If anyone from the team reads this site, I'd like to personally thank them for making the last eight months some of the most fun I have ever had on the internet!

    Now go make us some better toys! :p

    2. If they can make better toys... but yeah no looking a gift pony in the mouth, unless it's Pinkie Pie. Looking her in the mouth will get you a face full of sugar.

    21. And this is part of why I love FiM so much. The show is all kinds of awesome, don't get me wrong, but this community is one of the best (if not THE best) I've had the pleasure of being a part of.

      I came for the show, but stayed for the bronies.

      I just wish I had seen this so I could have added my part to this letter. Oh well, I think there's enough love and thanks in there to cover people who missed it ;)

    22. Awesome! but... question:

      Hub = Hasbro?

      Because Hub = Equestria girls

      Hasbro = Ponies

      ... or do we think Hasbro was involved, as they had access to Pinkie Pie's voice actress?

      Just a question.

    23. I posted in that thread...

      Im not in there as far as I can tell ;_;

    24. @last anon
      Hub is property of Hasbro (and Discovery)

      Don't worry, everyone who posted is included in the letter.

      I felt bad for not fully reading the further requirements and made it way too detailed :P
      I'm glad they posted it anyway.

    29. Well, if new notes aren't being added, I'll just place mine here. Someone at Hub obviously reads ED, so I have a feeling it might still be seen.

      My first exposure to FiM was through the mashup, Ponycraft 2. I thought it was amusing and was surprised at the animation quality, but ignored it for several months there after. Someone brought it up again, and after listening to Winter Wrap Up and Art of the Dress a couple times each, I had to watch the series (Guess that says something about me, when musical numbers draw me into a show...).

      Now, for the past two years, I've been pretty depressed, and cynical in nearly everything. I see the worst in people, and find it hard to concentrate on the good. I've ruined countless friendships and moved twice trying to find somewhere where I didn't hate my social circle, without success.

      I couldn't find the bad in FiM. Sure, every character has their faults, and that's actually one of the things that makes the series interesting. But, I can genuinely enjoy the show and the characters for what they are, and not through a lens of bitterness.

      I'm still depressed, and in many ways I'm still focusing on the worst of people. I'm trying to stop that, and really, truly, honestly, the lessons of friendship have been helping me in this. I'm trying to reconnect with old friends that I haven't spoken to in years. I'm trying to be more understanding of what I viewed as faults, and instead just be tolerant of how they're different. Confound these ponies, for the first time in two years, they've helped me in a major step towards feeling like a normal person. And a few months ago, I really would not have been able to believe that last sentence.

      I realize children's shows aren't exactly a viable substitute for therapy, which is probably what I really need. But I'm also pretty deep in debt, and really can't afford to see anyone. I'm doing the best I can to pick up the pieces. I hadn't realized this until I started writing this, but I haven't thought about killing myself for a few weeks now. A month ago, I was thinking about it almost daily, and just never had the nerve to go through with it.

      So, thank you, Hasbro. Thank you, Hub. And a huge thank you to the creative team behind FiM. You've hit the ground running with one of the best series reboots I've ever seen, and at the same time, you're helping me through the darkest time of my life. I really can't thank you enough.

      And that... was way more thank I expected to write.

    33. @AnonymousHub came about from Discovery Kids crashing and burning. So Hasbro and Discovery in a joint venture made Hub channel from its ashes.

      Yeah, sign me up for the show creators giving some tips to the merchandise department to make better merchandise.

      ReplyDelete
    34. Man I wish I saw that, oh well I post my thank you here.

      Thank-you Hub for Equestria Girls and thank you Hasbro for commissioning My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the first place.

    35. Lets hope Hasbro reads/likes this one and does not forward it to the HUB as questria girls its from the Hub.

    36. It's good that ponychan can make such great material despite being overrun with attention whoring tripfags who constantly roleplay their OCs and bipolar mods.

    40. @Anonymous

      Hey Anon, I don't know you, but I just wanna mirror what you're saying here a bit. I see a lot of myself in your post; namely, the cynicism and the depression. I've also been apathetic too. For the past several months I've been feeling apathetic towards my friends, family and my life. It's not that anything's really gone wrong with my life, I guess it's just...a bit of an existential crisis or whatever. And recently, I fell back into a serious depression that I hadn't experienced in several years, just out of nowhere. I'm not trying to ramble on about my life, I just want to say:

      This show, and this fandom, has been one of the brightest spots in the whole thing. I've never seen a fandom as loving and accepting as this one, and it's just so damn nice to be apart of it. And this show...to hell with it's "intended audience", this show just makes me so happy I can't begin to tell you. It's made me genuinely try to be a better person too. I've been hanging out with and talking to my friends more, trying to smile more and be a better person. I had one of the best days I've had in I can't remember how long recently, all because this show reminded me to smile and open up to my friends. It's hard for me to open up to people, and I feel I've been cold to them these past months, but we really reconnected recently. I think I might be in the process of converting them into bronies too. :P

      I know some people think it's "pathetic" that you'd need a cartoon to teach you to be a better person, but for me, it's not being "taught" so much as "reminded" that hey, it feels good to be a proper friend and to have friends. I don't know if I'm completely over all this, it's a one day at a time thing. But this show and fandom helps so much.

      I know this went on hella long so I'll wrap it up. Just wanna say I love you guys, and thanks for being a light in the darkness. <3

    41. I'm going to be honest. The FIM community is only equaled by the Starmen community in being the most vocal, loving, talented, group of fans out there on the internet. The only fan base out there close to these two's friendliness is the Japanator community and lord knows how many times we've fought over "K-On!"...
      This community's been awesome, Studio B's been awesome, and Hasbro has single-handedly destroyed my "evil corporate" perception of media executives.
      Love you all *hugs*

      ReplyDelete
    42. Gotta say, i still wish it was Scratch who was a canon character as opposed to derpy. but still, all is well.

      ReplyDelete
    43. Oh man, I totally missed the opportunity to make a 'thank you' letter, sadpony is sad ;_;

      ReplyDelete
    44. Aww! I was too late to add my comment. Ah well, I shall support them with my wallet, providing they come out with awesome official clothing and toys in the future! c: All my base are belong to Hasbro!

    45. Aw, I added a comment but it doesn't seem like I'm on there.

      Still, great effort, Angel.

      ReplyDelete
    46. Stuff like this is the reason why out of all of the hundreds of fandoms I've been a part of and still am, the Brony community one of the best fandoms I've been apart of

      ReplyDelete
    47. This has to be one of the sweetest things I've seen a fandom do. I've seen some fandoms spend all their time moaning about this and that and criticize everything that is released as being what "ruined" the show. But for a fandom to send a letter with this much love to the parent company, who are usually the ones getting blamed for most of the problems a show has, is amazing. Hasbro has a tough job trying to deal with us while keeping younger kids interested. I just wish the show was in my country, but I guess they'll get around to it eventually. Thanks guys.

      ReplyDelete
    48. ...whenever I think about writing something down at this or any other FiM-place related place I stop, because the previous messages sum up everything so good that I don't need to say anything anymore, and all I'm left to do is to agree. ^^

      Friendship is magic changed my life as well, made me smile and feel cheerful again, a feeling that I had missed for a very long time. I've already grown as a person due to the show and its awesome fancommunity, and I'm sure I'll enjoy more brighter days due to both of them in the future. I already thanked Miss Faust at her dA-page, and even thought I'm still curious about Hasbros final intentions, I have to thank them for how my life changed as well as the production team of MLP FiM. Don't let this thing die down, guys...

      ...it's not often that you're able to experience real magic, y'know?

    50. Love this community, absolutely the best thing that I could have chanced upon. Thankyou.

      ReplyDelete
    51. Just a quick comment from me I wish I could tell the team. I'm a 17 year old girl with crippling anxiety. No therapy, medication or anything has helped: except for Pinkie Pie's no fear song. My friends have said I've been visibly brighter and happier since I started watching this show, I even turned a depressed 18 year old boy into a happy bouncing brony.

      You rock Hasbro. And I'm so having a MLP birthday.

      ReplyDelete
    52. if i worked at hasbro i would definitely have a big smile on my face after reading this. hopefully we get a reply

      ReplyDelete
    53. Hasbro, you people are just way beyond awesome for playing it cool with us. It really means a lot to me that I can enjoy watching a creative and inspiring cartoon without worrying too much about future episodes being ruined due to the profit of popularity.
      You're probably not used to appealing to teenagers and up, but maybe experiencing something like this will help you learn something new in the long run.
      So once again, THANK YOUUUU

      ReplyDelete
    54. Pardon my ignorance, but how is the Equestria Girls video a shout out to the community? (Don't pelt me with apples, I really really didn't get the memo)

      ReplyDelete
    55. @Darth Equus
      The lyrics make explicit reference to bronies and DJ P0N-3. The Hub even sent the video directly to Sethisto before airing it on TV, telling him that it had "some special lines in tribute to our favorite Pony fans."

      You know, reading your post reminded me of this guy I sort of know... a stranger, really. Hope you are not him, because some of the stuff you said here is very sad.
      I hope those "darkest times" of your life will soon change into bright and happy times! And if these little ponies help - then great!
