So I've spent all day modifying Disqus, finally getting it where I want to be. I get some food, come back, and comments won't load on anything.
For now at least, I'm just going to revert back to blogger. I can't get Disqus to reinstall itself on EQD at all. Maybe the service is down? Who knows. We might try it again in the future. At least I fixed the clone thing!
To all the new twitter/facebook commenters, make a Google account! It totally integrates with blogger, and if we ever do bring disqus back, it works there too.

you know what? I wanna code up my own commenting system; and I'll make it better than Disqus.
ReplyDelete@James Corck
ReplyDeleteYeah; kind of like that!
Cereal: So..Seth, how's going Disqus?
ReplyDeleteSeth: Just a little adjustment...
*Blue screen of ded*
Seth: Confound this shit, i'm going back to blogger!
Yknow, I mean, if you need help, I'm sure this community can provide some computer science/engineer/tech/whatever people. Tons of them, actually.
ReplyDeleteAARRRGGGGHHHH did I make a disqus account for nothing?!?
ReplyDeleteit worked fine for me...
ReplyDeleteanyway i hope we'll have it fixed.
Derp indeed.
ReplyDelete@Twilight Sparkle That's so weird! You can't have two identical user names on LiveJournal forks such as Dreamwidth. I don't get how it can be so for Blogger, I don't even see any case sensitive differences or replacing l with 1.
ReplyDeleteEverypony else: happy hunting/link clicking if you are looking for the two posts I'm replying to.
One thing that Blogger has that isn't there for Disquiet and LJ forks is the convienient small window-like page for commenting, great for dragging along when commenting on Artist Training Ground or Drawfriend entries, or even for going off to search for info without loosing everything in the comment field. Of course, I can emulate it by right-clicking on the reply button at the bottom and opening it as a new page. Then shrinking the new page. But Blogger does it already, so easier. +1 for Blogger. -1 for lack of nested comments.
I don't think the right-click trick would even work on Disquiet, so -2 for Disquit.
I miss Disqus, but if it's for the good of everypony, then I don't mind.
ReplyDeleteWell, if there was at least one good thing I can say about this Disqus experimental, it's that I got to update my account there. :P
ReplyDeleteWell, not all new things gonna work at first, or even second try. But we can live with Blogger commenting system too, for now. :)
not that mad, didnt have to create a new account or anything =)
ReplyDelete@DRTJR You mean DisQord? (YEEEAAAAH)
ReplyDeleteExcept the problem with signing in on google with Disqus is that it used my real name.
ReplyDeleteGood thing.
ReplyDeleteDisqus was really just a big 'security hole' (magnet for trolls).
@richfiles
ReplyDeleteBlogger is simple... easy... and doesn't have holes the size of Kansas, in which trolls can pour like a waterfall.
Just saying... you know, me and my light-but-safe paranoia.
Yay for simplicity!
ReplyDeleteBlogger sucks (hence my username). Disqus sucks even more.
ReplyDeleteWell, have you tried LiveFyre, Seth? From what I've read, it seems to be similar, but might work better on the Blogger platform. =/
ReplyDeleteI have been away for a while so, what is disqus?
ReplyDeleteI don't think Disqus is totally failed. I uses both. Both are performing better.

We're sorry to see that you were having trouble. It doesn't look like we had a chance to investigate the issue you were having before switching back, but if you'd like to try again contact us and we can set up a short window to have a look.
ReplyDeleteThanks again and hope to hear from you!

I use Disqus & have had no problems with it. So far...
ReplyDeleteAfter moving from Wordpress to Blogger my biggest dislike with the standard Blogger comment system is No Threaded Comments.
