Totally intentional :)
ReplyDeleteI'll admit, it's nice not having to scroll down as far to reach the comment box on my phone.
And yes, it's been stated several times here before, but I am having chest surgery. Basically, a bar (titanium, mind you) is just going to be placed in my chest for three years. It's because I have an indentation in my chest, like a crevice. My ribcage curves/grows inwards (hardly noticable with a shirt on), so the bar is supposed to grow it out to normal.
The downsides:
Days in the hospital, of course.
Weeks of not being able to do anything, really. No sports, no travelling, no anything.
Can't sleep on my side for weeks.
Can't lift anything heavier than I think five pounds
Keep in mind that this is all going to gradually go away and become more lenient as the weeks pass by.
The hardest part: getting used to the feeling as my body grows tissue to accomodate the bar o.e
The best part: I get to spend hours making music over the summer for all of you guys!! :D
San Diego = San Andreas fault line
ReplyDeleteFirggin earthquakes are common here, mostly just small ones every week or so, but why does it always happen when i'm trying to balance something?
No damages really have been done by earthquakes here in San Diego. Seriously, Easter Sunday two year ago, there wad an earthquake of a way higher magnitude than that of Haiti's that lasted for half a minute, and there was virtually no permanent damage.
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteCrazy how that works.
Btw I like the how you think, Bro Beard, I'm looking forward to all your musical masterpieces this summer!
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteI hope it goes well.
I have stainless steel screws in both my knees. They cut the front off both of my tibias (shinbones), moved the front about half a centimeter farther forward, and screwed it in place.
That properly aligned the groove my kneecaps slide through. I have some kind of bone deformity that made the groove too shallow, so my kneecap would slip out of place. That, combined with a ligament condition (basically, I'm double jointed) meant that it happened about once every six months.
That may not sound like much, but it was freaking excruciating every time.
I'm pretty much fine now, though. Or at least as fine as I'm going to get. I still can't really run, and sometimes I have random pain/weakness in my knees, but it's a lot better than it was before.
It would be nice to finally be able to take off my shirt and not have somebody point it out.
ReplyDeleteAlso, girls say that they like hugging me moreso than others. I wonder why.....
(And for the love of all things good, do not compare me to my age's stereotype, especially in referring to that above statement)
Welp. Birthday went from lulzy to dreadfully boring and almost everyone forgot. But, now, the final fantasy 6 pony hack is done. May Melancholies will most likely end today. I've remembered that I have all of Haruhi Suzumiya on my Ps3 and the FFVI hack is done. I'm now in a splendid mood. I'll be floating around. YAY!
ReplyDeleteMy regret is that I missed Jelfes' birthday. T.T
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteI can't really empathize too much with your plight, as my only physical issue is an occasional case of serious lethargy, but it's good to know that at least some of the problem was fixed.
@Bombe
Stereotypes? You? Not likely!
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
What most of us wouldn't give to feel as good as Rarity there sometimes. Hay wait a second, your birthday? Well dang, happy birthday! Darn it where's that list...
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteI totally caught him on skype that day :D
Now that I think of it, MyBoyJ's birthday is tomorrow (the 12th) as well, if deviantART is to be believed.
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteIt is, oh it is.
I've got something wonderful planned. Well, if it works out, which it probably will.
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
I had something fantastic planned for your birthday, but I thought it was next week. In any case, I'll try to get it done.
Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
If you notice, I have a lot of plans. How many of them work out is anyone's guess.
I'm the one with the list.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of, Dublio and MissGoldenDragon (anything shorter I could call you? I fail at typing out longer names.) I would like to request your Birthdays for my list.
@MahBoiJ
I'm gonna guess my surprise gift with an image. I'm usually right about these things.
If anyone wants to see if I'm online, use anything like this as a calling card. You should all know this by now.
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteAll I got is this, but I don't think that's quite right, is it?
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteThis one's not very good.
Image...right...
I'm off to bed much later than I should.
ReplyDeleteTonight, I leave you with a song by a local band.
I apologize for the quality, but there aren't any good versions of their songs online.
The Safety of Sleeping In
Goodnight.
@DeRock
ReplyDeleteWell hello there!
@MissGoldenDragon
Northern Force! I like that!
@Millenial Dan
It's okay...You don't have to beat yourself up :P
@MyBoyJ
Thanks for the OC generator link, I need an OC
I think that was the first banner I saw on EqD last Summer
@ThunderIce
ReplyDeleteNo problem, and I think that was also the first banner I ever saw on EqD too.
Brings back happy memories,when everything pony was fresh and new.
Good times.
Now, I'm actually going to bed.
Goodnight.
I dig not haveing to scroll down for twenty minutes to find you fellows!
ReplyDeleteHiya Cloudy! Hope you have fun!
@RavensDagger
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'm really starting to see what you mean over there on fimfic. "Pinkie Pie Learns a New Word" has been featured for quite a while now, and then there's "A Discreet Favor to Her Majesty", and best of all, "Twilight Earns the Feature Box." Both those last two are apparently meta-fests, and while I'm sure they're hilarious, it does make you wonder where the actual stories go.
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteThere's that word again. Meta.
I see it every now and again, but I never took the time to look up what it actually means. Is it a bad thing? I'm guessing since you don't seem to be very enthused by the idea. :S
@ZeroHero
ReplyDeleteIt's not really good or bad, it just means self-referencing, in a nutshell.
Is it possible for me to post a picture here without a link? I don't have Dropbox or anything like that where I could link a picture.
ReplyDelete@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. If we're going to see it, I think it needs to be hosted somewhere online.
I always use imgur.
In other news, I finished all the edits I had for PsychoMares.
ReplyDeleteHere's version 2.
I'm trying to get it done quickly so I don't get scooped on EqD.
Maybe I should also take up writing.....
ReplyDeleteKrastos isn't going to write itself!
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteWhat genre is your Krastos story going to be?
I'd really appreciate it if you could give my story a read through. You haven't read it before, right? I want to know how you like it so I can gauge the reception it might get from the general public.
Link it, i'll get to it when I get om my computer.
ReplyDeleteTruth be told, I don't remember ever reading any of the stories that you giys link here, save for back when it was just Jefes.and myself, and he linked Final Dream of a Filly (Best fic ever) and Allegrezza (which I still have yet to finish.....)
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteThanks!
It's the link in my comment at 10:27.
I'd be ore than happy to try my hand (hoof?) at proofreading your Krastos fic when you write it.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteYes.
I would be ore than happy.
...
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteRarity's got all the diamonds. :3
I have a little dilemma here. I've been using ThunderIce for quite a long time, but it sounds sort of 'loud', y'know? Now, Northern Force sounds calm, yet powerful at the same time, like 'Frost' (a name reserved for a proposed computer). I'm wondering whether to change my "internet name" to Northern Force or keep it as ThunderIce.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have a little announcement to make in the Summer.
Just putting it out there now.
I think this should solve my problem for now. ThunderIce the Northern Force.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that new banner reminds me of a game called LIMBO
I use "also" way too much
@ThunderIce
ReplyDeleteThunderIce sounds perfectly fine, unless someone has specific and legitimate objections. Northern Force sounds more like some cut-rate FPS game, and still sounds loud. I'm typing this and I'm too late.
@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteHmmm, when you say it like that, I guess it does sound like an FPS. I was thinking of it as being related to the Arctic (for some reason), hence the example of Frost. I guess I'll leave it like this for a while and see how it goes.
@ThunderIce the Northern Force
ReplyDeleteI agree with Trosky, Northern Force sounds like the next Tom Clancy game or something. :P
To me ThunderIce works perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it. :3
@ThunderIce
ReplyDeletereminds me of Triforce
im wearing two t shirts with pop culture~ AT THE SAME TIME
ReplyDelete@Duskwisp the stromy twister
ReplyDeleteThe pop culture has been doubled?
What kind of pop culture?
@Myboyj
ReplyDeleteMario T shirt i aquired at nerd convention + darth vader t shirt i aquired from my big brother who aquired it in cambodia
If we don't have more than 4 people on the TF2 server tonight, we could always raid another one that has more players, or add bots. You all know how to add bots to a TF2 server, don't you? >_> <_<
ReplyDelete@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteI do now!
Thanks Official Team Fortress 2 Wiki!
*Thumbs up*
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteThat's what we needed! Bots! Fill in those extra spots for teams and we got ourselves a brawl! :D
Im in!
@Duskwisp the stromy twister
ReplyDeletespell ALL the names wrong
@myboyj
ReplyDeletehey let me in on this!
ah, tell me when yer at it
ReplyDelete@ZeroHero
ReplyDeleteGood thing too, I was almost tired of playing Scout, but you can't really be tired of playing Scout if you have the right mod
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteOkay. I need to restart my computer to update it.
If you (or anyone else) has any preferences for number of bots, bot difficulty level, bot class, etc. let me know.
@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteAhem
@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteThe proportions!
Dear sweet Celestia the proportions!
@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteYeah, nothing against Dashie, but Nope.avi on that. Just doesn't work. :P
Hiya guys!
ReplyDeleteHey, is Mel Dan arround? I need his epic You're-Doing-It-Wrong services...
Present! I just got back from a little excursion to an amusement park called Elitch Gardens in Denver. Nothing quite like riding a roller coaster or two with some acquaintances now and then.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, what's new?
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteHow familiar are you with detective stories?
@RavensDagger
ReplyDeleteI'm no hardcore consumer of mystery novels, I suppose, but I do occasionally enjoy Holmes and that murder-ridden manga series known as Detective Conan.
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteGood enough!
Could you tell me if this:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ikZNX4UHOAANn3eiuXhmXiF_0Z8aKruoUXr6Om1U4kA/edit
Is worth continuing?
Okay.
ReplyDeleteI got bots working in TF2. They only work on certain maps, and they are ridiculously good, even on the easiest difficulty.
I'm only going to put them in if we don't have a decent amount of players.
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteI HEARD DETECTIVE CONAN!!!
I'm totally not in love with Detective Conan or anything.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeletehttp://saltblock.blogspot.ca/
First post... do something about it.
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteYou know, Detective Conan is one of those old looking Anime i never watched, and the older looking ones are usually my favorites, like Trigun and Cowboy Bebop.
I should give that one a look too. :P
@ZeroHero
ReplyDeleteTrigun :)
@RavensDagger
ReplyDeleteSo awesome! /)^3^(\
@ZeroHero
ReplyDeleteDetective conan started in 1994 and is still ongoing. 75 volumes of manga, more than 600 episodes and currently 16 movies. I've heard great things about Trigun, but every single anime my friend loves I've yet to not hate.
My favorite show tied with MLP.
@RavensDagger
ReplyDeleteGot the details up.
Now we play the waiting game.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteServer up yet?
@RavensDagger
ReplyDeleteNot yet, it's going up at 9PM blog time, unless we have enough people to play now.
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteYikes! That's alot of episodes...I don't think I can make that kind of a commitment. :S
I tend to stay away from the exessively long running Anime like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. It's just so much content to absorb, I can't stay invested for long. The long running shows also tend to have way too much filler to make room for the official content from their manga counterparts. I am NOT a fan of filler (then again, who would be?)
I think the longest running Anime I was truly entertained by would be DragonBall Z, despite being notorious for it's filler and how it dragged its plot out so far. Even without all of the awful filler content, the show runns at 100 episodes. Another show that does that is D. Grey Man.
But hey, I'm just throwing my two cents out there. That's one of the reasons I love Anime. Despite out varied the shows can get, it's all from the same source, and it brings alot of people together for a common goal. :3
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteCan you put it up?
1. I want to try to log on, see if everything works.
2. I do think there are about 5-6 people around...
If you REALLY need more folks I could post something on my blog...
@RavensDagger
ReplyDeleteI'm updating the server again. I just updated it a couple hours ago, but apparently there's another update. I'll get it up after it updates.
Let's just keep it among the SALT community. we can round it out with bots if need be.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteServer is up.
The Incredible Edible Server
SALTyness
Back again from a bit of family crisis. On with the reading...
ReplyDelete@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteFamily crisis?
Is everything okay?
@Dan
ReplyDeletewut?
TF2 is going on if anyone wants to play.
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteUh, not really, but don't worry about it. We'll sort it out in time.
Anyway, I'll join the game in just a bit...
Hey... so my sister came home tonight so I'm not gonna be able to play... sorry, next time though!
ReplyDeleteHad a blast, but there were only a few times the bots worked. However, I'm a few hours ahead of you all apparently, so its very late and I'm off to bed.
ReplyDeleteThat was great!
ReplyDeleteMyBoyJ is toio good...
I'm off to take a nap, night fellows!
Cool, later then! I wish I could have gotten on sooner, but, that's how it goes I guess.
ReplyDeletetwas fun
ReplyDeletelater guys
i got stuff t'do
Now that I have bots working in general (and can get them working on every map), we'll have a better TF2 experience in the future.
ReplyDeleteNow I must go to bed.
I leave you with a classic song by Weird Al.
Amish Paradise
Goodnight.
and by things t'do i mean attend my brothers welcome back party
ReplyDelete@MahBoiJ
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I come bearing a gif(t)!
@cloudy
ReplyDeletesomeone's up late ;o
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeletePffft, It's 04:00 right now. I usually go to sleep around 07:00. I'm a very lonely night owl.
@Cloudy
ReplyDeleteeh, you got me tonite
there's a party + i've gone against one of my rules and consumed an entire bottle of energy drink
i have enough energy to sustain me all night
I can't have energy drinks. They make my heart race too much. I've just been watching anime and reading a few fanfics tonight. I don't get invited to any parties anymore. Have a silly slightly nsfw song!
ReplyDelete@cloudy
ReplyDeletemy der brother (who's party it is) had a heart operation due to energy drinks, and i believe it runs in the family (hence my no energy drinks rule)
Yeah, I have enough body problems the way it is. If I drank an energy drink I'd probably have to go to the hospital. I had one friend who almost strictly drank energy drinks. It's amazing that skinny little man could survive that much energy drinks. I get excited and energetic seeing things that I like or find adorable lol. I have no need for the drinks!
ReplyDelete@cloudy
ReplyDeleteskinny too ! and short!
also, do you always link when you post?
Yeah, I do make everything a hyperlink. Pictures and videos are fun to spam everywhere! I mostly have pony images bookmarked with a few Avatar gifs. Only problem is I don't have the NSFW images marked so I have to constantly double check my links.
ReplyDelete@cloudy
ReplyDeleteah, i see
Plus silly things are a great way to make everyone smile!
ReplyDelete@cloudy
ReplyDeletei hit my internet cap .-.
i think i should call it a night.. /) cya tomorow (which, incidently, is when the intwrnet refreshes)
@Raven
ReplyDeleteI just looked on the frontpage and saw you have yet another Fic up there. Congrats, I didn't even know you sent that one in. :P
Just one after another, isn't it? :3
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteJulie (being my first name) is fine. :)
And my birthday is March 28th.
@ThunderIce the Northern Force
Well, I really like Northern Force too :)
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteI used this one not long ago, but there are surprisingly few good ones. Also, it seems appropriate to celebrate the release of Pony Fantasy VI.
Thanks for the birthday gif(t)!
Today is shaping up to be just wonderful! (sarcasm)
Bombe, what does IntenseDebate say about his comment level?
ReplyDeleteIT'S OVER 1000!!!!!!
I'll admit, you're getting close to my record/level of commenting in 2011.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting to ask Jelfes whether or not I should go back to my old ways of commenting.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteHow old is you?
Oh, and who is lurking in my Detective docs file?
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteIt's quite true.
@RavensDagger
Oh, that was me. That's why I dislike viewing docs on my phone, you can't use the chat and you can't comment. Also, you appear as a different anon user # every time your phone sleeps and resumes, so it can appear that many different people are floating in and out.
One more thing, Happy Birthday, Jimmy!
@RavensDagger
ReplyDeleteI'm 24 today. On the higher end of the age spectrum for our group. I'd say more, but I don't think ClosetBrony would appreciate it.
@Bombedrumbum
I don't think I comment "excessively" per se. I usually comment if I have something funny to say/I noticed something important or interesting that wasn't pointed out/I post a link someone asks for, etc.
Well, that and top comment, but I've toned that down recently.
It seems to be pretty rare that I see any of you guys in the main comments at all. It couldn't hurt to comment a little more frequently.
@Millennial Dan
Thanks. That cake looks amazing and believe me, I'm going to
EPILEPSY WARNING
PARTY!
You know it's hardcore when there's an epilepsy warning.
@myboyj
ReplyDeletelike a sir
@missgoldendragon
ReplyDeleteI'm exactly one month one week older than you
;o my birthday being on the 21st of feb
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteIt's your birthday today, Jim? Happy Birthday, my friend!
I believe an appropriate song is in order!
Raise you glass to one more year! :D
@Dom
ReplyDeleteSay what? o_O But I coulda sworn...
@missgoldendragon
ReplyDeleteunless...
huh
yknow, you might just be older than me
1995?
ReplyDelete@missgoldendragon
ReplyDeleteah, so you are older than me
i be '96
@Dom the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteOh, ok. Awesome, so you're finishing your sophomore year?
@missgoldendragon
ReplyDeletemy......what?
@Dom
ReplyDelete10th grade in high school?
?
ReplyDeleteim in my second to last year
year 12
Huh. Did you skip a grade? Cuz I'm in my second to last year too..
ReplyDeletemhm
ReplyDeletepretty much, yeah
Well
i could choose which year (grade?) to be in a couple years back
i like a challenge, so the higher one i chose
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDelete*Bill Cosby voice*
You see, here in the good ol' USA, you go to kindergarten and you're five, then in first grade you're six, in second grade you're seven and it goes on from there.
Freshman are ninth graders, the first year of high school, then sophomores are tenth graders, juniors are eleventh, and seniors are twelfth.
Jello pudding.
@Dom
ReplyDeleteOh cool! :D
@MyBoyJimmy
o.O
@myboyj
ReplyDeleteonly 4 years in highschool?
here we go to kindergarden at 5 years of age
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteHere, first through fifth (sometimes sixth) is elementary school. Usually sixth, seventh, and eighth is middle school. Ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth are high school.
I went to pre-kindergaten when I was four and then kindergarten at five.
I think that much is the same.
hang on...
ReplyDelete5-kindergarden
6-year 1
7-year2
8--year 3
9-year 4
10-year 5
11-year 6
12-year7
13-year 8
14-year 9
15-year 10
16-year 11
17-year 12
18- year 13
wait
which years are your qualification years
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what "qualification years" means.
Qualification for a university?
sort of...
ReplyDeleteuhh...
you might not have an equivlent
i have finished my NCEA level 1 which opens up jobs that at least require level 1, although sometimes other qualifications are needed
harder jobs require NCEA level 2
harder still jobs require level 3, which is year 13
this also functions as an entry exam for uni
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteOkay, I don't think we have an equivalent here.
What does NCEA stand for?
We don't really have a standard university admission test, but we do have the SAT. Your score on the SAT is very important for college admission, but it doesn't guarantee acceptance. The higher it is, the better the school you may be able to get into.
Either that or just be obscenely wealthy and buy your way into the university of your choice.
National certificate of educational achievement
ReplyDeletethen what do you do for your final years of school?
one does not simply buy your way into uni over here (im watching lotr at the moment, ironically)
ReplyDeletein fact, with recent budget cuts, if you want to have a resonable chance of attending uni, you must score in the top 40%
even the, its only guaranteed if you are in the top 10%
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteWell, if you're dedicated to your education and care about going to college, you spend your high school years doing your best on your general schoolwork in all the regular subjects. Additionally, you spend months, if not years, studying and preparing to take the SAT in hopes of getting a high score. You can also do volunteer work and various things like that to "round out" college applications when the time comes.
Only about one third of Americans go to college, or at least only one third get a degree. I saw firsthand that quite a few of my schoolmates had no interest in going to college and just wanted to "get out of school."
A lot of people choose not to go to school because of the cost, as well. College is ridiculously expensive. I went to a "public university" which means it is funded at least partially by the government. When I was attending, there was a budget cut and the amount I had to pay increased a bit. I have about $12,000 in college loans I need to pay off, significantly lower than the average of about $24,000.
I attended the local community college and got my Associate's Degree before transferring to the university and getting my Bachelor's Degree. The community college was much cheaper than the university.
Just a few miles from where I live is Hofstra University. It is a "private university" meaning it gets no funding from the government and is funded entirely by donations and tuition fees. It costs about $45,000 per year to attend. The university I attended, Binghamton University, is considered one of the best public universities in the country.
Would my education have been better if I went to Hofstra?
Maybe a tiny bit, but I still got a fantastic education and a great deal on the price.
@myboyj
ReplyDeleteexpensive
and thats in yer money
huh
thats odd....
the thing with NCEA is that even if one does not attend uni or any post school education , one can still get a job
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteJobs are another part of it.
More and more nowadays, you need a college education to get a job. There really aren't very many jobs, and especially good jobs, you can get with just a high school diploma.
If you only have a high school diploma, your options are limited to things like working in a store, a gas station, etc. You need special certification (from either a "trade school" or community college) to do any kind of skilled labor like mechanics, plumbers, hairdressers, etc.
Even if you go to college and get a degree, you may still not be able to get a job. I'm a perfect example of this.
I got my degree two years ago. All it's gotten me so far is work in a terrible office. Of course, that's partially my fault for getting a degree in philosophy, and partially the economy's fault for being awful.
With ANY type of Bachleor's degree, you're usually (in a good economy) able to get better types of work. Like work in offices that aren't terrible, managerial work, etc.
One of my...I hesitate to call him friends, because we never communicate and he's a jack*buy some apples* is going to be graduating this month with a degree in manufacturing engineering or somesuch from the same university I attended. He has been looking for work in preparation for his graduation, but he hasn't had any luck either, and his degree has much more real world application than mine.
@myboyj
ReplyDeleteindeed
damn economy -.-
@myboyj
ReplyDeletewhat job would you like though?
I'm about to finish taking Spanish in high school and i'm taking math with some seniors. That's all that's really all.
ReplyDeleteDue to my surgery being the 21st, or the first day of the last week of school, my schedule is going to be even more screwed up. I'm not really taking anything in the field of science this year (one test to determine my final grade), and no finals for history or english.
The Communism paper went well, Jimmy. Thanks for the help.
Well, i've learned to get a degree that has a real world value because of you guys. o.o
@pianoman
ReplyDeletewell, thats what friends are for!
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteI originally considered becoming a lawyer, but one of my uncles (who I only see maybe once every few years) is a lawyer and talking to him a couple years ago dissuaded me from that.
There are also WAY too many lawyers in the US. It's very difficult to establish a successful practice if you're going to do it privately, and even harder to get hired by a company as a legal consult or something.
Then I thought about becoming a teacher, until I realized I didn't really want to do that either. I don't think I could handle the disrespect I would undoubtedly get from kids if I worked in a K-12 public school. Kids can be just awful to teachers sometimes.
I considered becoming a college professor, because you have significantly less of the disrespect problem, but that would require getting a PhD and, while I would like to go back to school, I don't know if I could put in all that effort. It would probably take me at least four to six years to get a PhD, and that doesn't help my current financial situation.
Now, I'm pursuing a voice acting career. I have some experience with persuasive and comedic public speaking, and I can do a bunch of voices, so I figure I might give that a shot.
It has absolutely nothing to do with my degree, but I guess the degree is just a "bonus" I have. Now that I think about it, if I didn't go to college, I never would have gotten involved with the Speech Team and learned effective public speaking, which gave me a better understanding of vocal control and the like.
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteNo problem. I'm glad to help.
If you're looking for a field that's in demand, I've heard that specialized biology disciplines, like biochemical engineering, are going to be expanding a lot, what with the rise of genetic engineering and all.
Other fields I've heard are expanding are elder care (because the baby boomers are getting older), physical therapy, and computer science.
Keep in mind that I have only a cursory knowledge of the degrees that are "in demand" and all I really know is that mine isn't.
@Julie
ReplyDeleteJulie it shall be! I like the name by the way!
Welp, Rather back and forth day so far. I've only been up for 3 hours lol. Some guy came over wanting to buy our car tires, my room's staying cool somehow, my mom has vertigo and my sister brought home sandwiches from our local sandwich shop the Pickle barrel. I wonder what else will go wrong or incredibly awesome.
@pianoman
ReplyDeleteEconomics might also be a good one to take
Music is also a good one as lo.g as you have another job too. Music... doesnt pull in the funds as much as other professions, rather it is a nice proverbial cherry on top
@Education
ReplyDeleteI have nothing to add! Have some 4chan being goofy.
@Cloudy Zelos
I'm sorry your Mom has Vertigo. Simultaneously, I'm quite amused you have a local food place named the Pickle Barrel, that's hilarious.
@Dan
ReplyDeleteThe sandwiches there are rather expensive, but really really good! There is only around 5 of this shop and they're all here in Montana. The owner is one of the middle school teachers here too!. I never had him as a teacher, but my sister did and she's also friends with all the people working there so our sandwiches get really overstuffed!
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteEconomics, Business, Advanced Maths and Statistics, any form of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Internet Technology are all big "money" degrees. Law would be, except as MyBoyJ mentioned, the US has a glut of lawyers right now.
@trotsky
ReplyDeleteyeah, spanish teacher was a lawyer
she's american
why do i keep missing my personal pronouns .-.
ReplyDeleteI got an email from my German cousin today and he said he watched a couple of episodes of FiM in German. He said it seemed pretty lame, but that may have been the translation. I sent him a link to The Return of Harmony in English, so we'll see what he says about it now.
ReplyDelete@myboyj
ReplyDeleteinteresting...
i wonder how good/bad the foreign language versions of fim are
@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteWell, considering that a handful of characters in foreign language dubs switch genders (I'm looking at you Spitfire), I'd say they're probably not very good overall.
Some of the characters in the foreign dubs are voiced really well, on occasion even rivaling the originals, and others are kind of terrible. I'd say it's hit or miss overall. Amazingly, the only work that's ever bugged me among the original voice-overs is one or two of BonBon's voices. But, they've actually become part of her charm, so I can't honestly even complain about that too much. They seriously recruited some fine talent for the original version.
ReplyDelete(Yeah, and then there's a certain edited-in voice... not even gonna go there.)
Hmmm, anyone here think YouTube needs better vector tutorials? Idea!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAW YEAH. Sorry to keep changing the subject every two seconds, but anyone seen the latest post on the main page? de Lancie is actually much cooler with the fandom than I used to think.
ReplyDelete"she derps everything she touches"
ReplyDeleteDear Celestia, she even derped a comment that was talking about her.
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteHoley smokes you're right!
I like Bon-Bon's myriad voices. This is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to foreign dubs, it always seems to come back to Spitfire. She has a male voice in the Brazilian version, and a handful of others, and she has a ridiculously awesome voice in the Swedish version.
Maybe it's the Brazilian version giving foreign dubs a bad name, since even Rainbow Dash has a voice that sounds like it's being done by a man.
Derpy's eyes were a mistake. Her voice was a mistake. Everything she touches turns to derp, and that's why we love her. Derpy seems to have literally broken the fourth wall herself and caused people in the real world to make mistakes.
She reminds us that everything is not perfect, but that's okay.
Like right now! I was typing this out, and I forgot a quotation mark for the last link!
TOUCHED BY A WALL-EYED ANGEL!
DERP!
I also just misspelled "derp" and "misspelled" four times each.
DERPY'S INFLUENCE IS ETERNAL!
Ah, typing derps. That reminds me of this, which I was reading about earlier today for no apparent reason. That fic has GOT to be a stealth parody. There is just no possible way anyone would write something like that sincerely. Well, unless laura was a child or something, but it doesn't really seem like it.
ReplyDeletehaha.... downvotes..
ReplyDeleteIT'S SHOW TIME!!!
ReplyDelete@Duskwisp the stormy twister
ReplyDeleteOh? On what post?
@TGaBZ
Yay... Yay? Yay!
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteAlso this.
Definitely a parody, or trollfic, or something.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeletePretend this is you.
Last minute on my timezone FTW!!!
I GOT THE ENDING THIS TIME!!! WARNING: YOU WILL GET HUNGRY!
ReplyDeleteIchigo is adorable and this show is great.
Tombstone makes one heck of a Pink Ranger.
ReplyDeleteBombe's link led me to this. Being a popular brony comes with some nice perks. O_O
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly.
I'm just being showered in digital love today. (don't think about that too much)
Oddly, today didn't really feel like my birthday. I just went out to lunch with my parents. (my sister couldn't come because she was working, even though we originally planned to go out for dinner after she got out of work, only to reschedule that because she had a prior engagement that was later cancelled, so we could have all gone to dinner anyway)
I bought myself a digital camera a few days ago, and my mom said she was going to give me the money for it, so it's technically a birthday gift. She tried to find me some pony stuff (specifically the new Lyra and Trixie brushables) but K-Mart is a filthy liar.
I didn't even get any of the usual birthday phone calls or cards from my uncles and cousins. Maybe they've finally decided they don't like me. Whatever, they're all ignorant alcoholics and philanderers, anyway.
We didn't have any cake, either. My mom has been trying to bake this one specific cake for the past two days, but it isn't coming out right, so it's delayed until tomorrow.
*single tear*
On the bright side, tomorrow, I'm going to my mom's best friend's house for a Mother's Day barbeque. (you heard me right)
Also, it hasn't been my birthday here for over three hours now.
Why I said "my timezone"
ReplyDeleteJelfes' family celebrates birthdays for three days at a time, or something like that (don't quote me on that, but he said that his dad celebrated it for three days, and his DA says something about his, yadda yadda)
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteOkay, you got me there.
I need to go to bed. Have a Queen song.
Innuendo
Goodnight.
Blargh! Lost all my Internets last night. :'(
ReplyDeleteSo what I miss?
LOOK ON MY (mother's) WORKS YE MIGHTY, AND DESPAIR!

@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteYep, Dublio was right, haha.
@ZeroHero
Nothing much, just some discussion of expensive educations, overstuffed sandwiches, cute animes, birthdays, and Mother's Day bar-b-ques, and intentionally bad fanfiction, basically.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteI'll take the silence as an indication that no one knows what the cake is supposed to be. I can't really blame you.
Dare. To. Compare. Y'all.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteAll I notice is that it shares similar colors to Fluttershy, somewhat... Looks tasty, in any case.
Well, I tried to comment about an hour ago but was rudely interrupted >.>
ReplyDeleteAnyways, i've come up with a song name quite a while ago. It's something that hasn't been used yet, and i'm not sure if it's for a good reason...
Also, there's a typo in the post stating "Manescream Games" instead of "Manestream Games". Seriously, c isn't even anywhere near t on the keyboard...
@MyBoyJimmy
ReplyDeleteMadness! >:D
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to be this.
Pinkie Pie made it sound so good, I just had to try it.
Some adventurous Brony reverse engineered it from its description and appearance on the show, and was kind enough to give the recipe here.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteLooks like my sister got it. Man, first chimmicherrychangas, and now this! There are some clever brony bakers out there.
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteChimicherrychangas are a lot simpler to make than the Marzipan Mascarpone Meringue Madness; just ask the Cakes. My mom was complaining about it the whole way through, but she asked me what kind of cake I wanted, and that was my answer.
We got into a few arguments about it, primarily about its color. I showed her a picture of it and she saw that it was yellow on the outside, but when it came time to color the marzipan, she kept saying it needed to be pink. I told her it should be yellow and said I would pull up the picture online for her to see it again. I went to my computer, brought up the picture, and went to get her so she could see it. When I got back to the kitchen, she was already mixing red food coloring into the entire bowl of marzipan. I told her it should not be red or pink and told her to look at the picture, which she finally did. Her only response was "I thought it was pink."
She also didn't read through the entire recipe for the marzipan and neglected the part that said to refrigerate it for up to 24 hours and roll it into sheets. She just poured liquid marzipan over the top of the cake, which is why it looks so runny.
In addition, she didn't bother coloring the meringue buttercream for the little flower things on the outside.
CURSES! I WANTED THIS CAKE TO BE THE ENVY OF THE CAKE SECTION OF YESTERDAY'S (OR TODAY'S) ROUNDUP!
I appreciate the effort she put into making it, and she could have outright refused to make it, but it annoys me that she went to all the effort, got most of it right, but messed up a few minor details that made it look awful and completely different than it should. I hate when people do a job halfway. Either do it right, or don't do it at all.
I remember that Travis (the guy behind Odyssey Eurobeat) took an art history class. He was assigned a paper on something that he had to search extensively for just by subject, and nobody could really find anything useful, not even in class. Papers.........can be difficult.
ReplyDelete@Pinkie Pie
ReplyDeleteSarin as in sarin nerve gas?
@Pinkie Pie
ReplyDeleteThis one has a bit of everything.
Does it have to be only about sarin, or can it be about chemical weapons in general? If it can be about other chemical weapons, you can go into their use in World War I and other conflicts.
@Pinkie Pie
ReplyDeleteThis one's pretty funny.
Wow, that was fast.
I was once tasked with a group project on the history of stained glass windows. Maybe I was just n00bish at google-fu back then, but I had a really hard time finding any credible resources on the subject, and the others in the group did basically nothing at all. So that's the story of how I got a B in Art History.
ReplyDeleteAlso, did you guys see that post about de Lancie and his plans for a brony documentary? Awesome!
afternoon all
ReplyDelete@Dan
documentry? interesting!
@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteThe transformative power of the Brony community is incredible.
Just scant months ago, John de Lancie had no idea what a Brony was. Then the Return of Harmony premiered and he was flooded with admiration from those unusual creatures. At first, he, like so many others, seemed to think we were odd, perhaps demented. It appears that his curiosity to learn about the true nature of Bronies led him to increase his interaction with them. Upon learning that they were not insane, and spending time with Tara Strong, he apparently realized that his place on the show gave him access to an army. While his earlier army of Star Trek fans are powerful and numerous enough to take over North America, he has his sights set on Eurasia.
"What good is an army of sleeper agents if the general population thinks they're insane?" he probably asked himself. "I need to improve their credibility, and what better way to do that than by making a positive documentary about them to offset the negative press they've received from ignorant judgmental windbags?"
In short, he went from "Bronies, WTF?" to "I must protect my flock!"
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteI know, right? That's why it's so awesome. At first I suspected that he thought we were all just plain weird, but it seems he kept himself for jumping to any severe judgments, and now look where we are. This is why I love it when the the fan community maintains their position as a friendly, open, and supportive group. It really does win us over some fantastic compadres, like Gabe Newell, for instance.
@myboyj
ReplyDeleteit has to be said...
dat flock..
I'm off to bed much earlier than I have been recently. I need to try and get my sleep schedule back on track.
ReplyDeleteI leave you with a song that I believe would work well as a secondary theme song for our little group here.
I'm A Dude
Goodnight.
Lurk
ReplyDeleteLurk.
ReplyDeleteLurk?
ReplyDeleteLurk?
ReplyDeleteI should never allow myself to be bored more than 10 seconds. I look up anime I love and get a giant urge to watch them again.
ReplyDeleteI should be doing something I consider progressive, like finishing one of the many games I have, that I'm sitting near the end of, or reading some of the fan fics I've bookmarked.
Oh well, here's 3 anime openings of anime I love. Also, Kuzco still is and always will be, best disney princess. BEST LURK POST TO DATE.
OH GOD I'M NOTICING THERE IS ONE THING EACH OF THESE SHOWS HAVE IN COMMON. I'M NOT SURE IF I SHOULD BE WORRIED OR NOT.
I heard Kuzco
ReplyDeleteAnd no, there's been better lurking comments. I'm just too lazy to go through the 25k+ comments to look for 'em.
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteyeah... what up with all the animal-human things?
@The Great and Beautiful Zelos
ReplyDeleteyeah... what up with all the animal-human things?
>animal human
ReplyDelete>still have Kronk link ready
Pinkie pie... this is a little late but that sounds like an awesome topic. I love satin! It i s so intense!!
ReplyDeleteI said it was best as it's filled with stuff I love. Then again, I just remembered I did make a gigantic Pinkie link post.
ReplyDeleteAnimal ears, why must I love them? Also, paw pads. Poke Poke Poke Poke.
Wrong link for the second one. (though mildly suiting.) PAW PADS TAKE TWO! POKE POKE POKE POKE.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I remember that Pinkie Pie one back in the day. Good time.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of animal ears, I've been watching the new Thundercats recently. I thini it's overall fairly decent, but dang, it's like a great big murder-fest! Kind of unusual, coming from a children's show on cartoon network.
Typos were made.
ReplyDeleteDid somepony say Thundercats?
ReplyDeleteWow, that's pretty nice!!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, i'm watching my own movie of which I haven't seen or even remembered in years
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteThat movie was strangely sexual for an animated children's film.
