• Pony Playing Cards

So we've posted pony playing cards in the past, but this seems to be a new set featuring most of the ponies we all know and love- background and mane alike.

You can find them here, on ArtsCow.

    2. Now you're thinking with ponies.

    3. Change the backs to something normal, and fluttershy as king? Please.

    4. A really nice set. The Pinkie Portal Joker cards are really cool, but my favorite is Background Cast on the Ace of Spades. They really need some more depth in season 2.

    5. Hey, I see some fan vectors in there o3o
I wonder about the copyright and such.

    6. A cute idea, but I can't help but feel it's a little lopsided - most of the main cast are loaded into the club cards, while the other three suits get the rest of the cast. Would be much better in my opinion to distribute the main cast across the four suits.

    7. What!? The Diamond suits don't have the Diamond Dogs on them at all!?

      Son, I am dissapointed...

    8. Pony playing cards are for casual fans, brought out and seen by maybe a few of your IRL brony buds. I want something hardcore, something that will let the world know "I. AM. A BRONY." but also says "this guy isn't dumb enough to render himself unemployable or possible rape-bait if he ends up in jail" like, say, a pony tattoo might. No, I'm talking something respectable, but undeniable.

      I WANT PONY CREDIT CARDS.

    9. @NDupree93

      A BAT CREDIT CARD!?!

Luna in socks as the Queen of Hearts, I love it! I would buy these, if eBay would stop taking all my money for blind bag ponies.

Is it too much to ask for some good brony gear in the UK?

    10. @Vermillion Twilight, Actually, the trick to tattoos, in general, is to have them somewhere coverable that might be exposed in a casual situation. For example, a shoulder tat would be covered while you're working or at an interview, but a pickup game of basketball, boating, or a beach trip would show it off.

    11. What the hell? Shouldn't AppleJACK be on the Jack cards? Or is that too obvious? :P

Ah hell, I'm kidding. They look great. The Joker cards are definitely my favorite though, for the joke that requires both cards to fully understand.

    13. I would love to have these! I'd frikin bring them to play poker with friends. They probably would be like ...was is das?... but meh.

    14. How would one go about printing these with any sort of high quality?

      ReplyDelete
    15. Yes! I was thinking pony playing cards would be amazing, but I didn't think anyone would actually make them. Amazing.

    17. I was going to download this, until I saw that FiM was crossed with Portal AGAIN! UGH! Seriously Cereal, why must you post these damn crossfails again and again?

    18. I like'em, they're cute. And I'm the four of spades. :)

    19. Horrible card designs, the pictures barely have anything to do with the card values.

It is not that the art is bad, it is in fact good. It is that this looks like cards that happen to have the value printed in the corner.

While portal pinkie pie is a cute joker, it just doesn't save this disaster.

    20. Ah quit yer whining fillies! There's a link in the upper-right corner for your to create your own deck - laid out just the way you want - and it still only costs $9.99 for a deck. At least this brony sat down and did it, so quit yer bitching and do it your own damn self if you don't like it!

    24. That awesome background ponies group shot is an ace!
      The Ursas are an ace!
      Pinkie Portal is the jokers!
Awesome choices! I mean, some could be better on some parts, but those were cool.

So... I can make my own, huh?

    27. DeckPony here,

I have ordered about 8 decks from artscow, and they come out looking great.

And for those interested in the Touhou Project series of games, here's a deck I made for it.

    28. Okay, my deck arrived today. They look decent, but have a number of prepress/artwork and material issues. Caveat: I'm obsessed with printing and graphic design, so much of this may be irrelevant to most.

Slight blurring of edges, edge sharpness or contrast issue:
      ♠: 7, 9
      ♦: 5, J
      ♣: 6

      Resolution inconsistency between merged images:
      ♠: J

Heavy resolution issues - blurring, pixelization, JPEG or GIF artifacts:
      Jokers
      ♦: 4, 10, Q, K
      ♥: 3, 8

Severe resolution issues - blurring and pixelization:
      ♥: 2
Artwork on back of all cards

Issue in original artwork - mirrored text (also only card with text):
      ♦: 9

Issue in original artwork - no freaking artwork (card shows "Empty"):
      ♥: 6

The quality of the cards themselves is decent. Fairly standard mid-quality digital press printing on coated cardstock. I can't be 100% positive, but they appear to have a final clear coating as well. It's nothing like the heavy, slick coating on actual poker cards, however, it's a thin satin finish (instead of gloss)and is textured, which means they won't shuffle very well and won't last as long as a genuine deck.

Now that the OCD is out of the way: I like them!
Aside from the missing image, I'm happy to have gotten these. Definitely worth the ten bucks to somepony utterly in the thrall of these damn ponies!
