*Update* MULTIPLE people from the FiM team have confirmed the title/description of the episode
*Update #2* Regardless of the actual title/description being confirmed, TV air dates are always subject to change.
Supposedly Season 2 will begin on September 17th 9AM eastern time. Someone from a TV listing company emailed me this information directly, and said he would get us some more proof on it tomorrow, though it has been floating around all morning on various forums/chans for pony.
Episode one is titled "The Return of Harmony" - Spoilered: Discord escapes from his stone prison and Twilight and her friends act quickly to find the Elements of Harmony to stop him. (Not sure why they are re-tracking them down if they already have them, but it's just a rumor right?)
Until it's all finalized, this is only a rumor though. The commercial a few days ago does sort of hint that the second season is very soon, so it's a very possible rumor.

They could have diappeared in the time between that battle and whenever this episode occurs.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about it either, but it's not unusual for shows' air times to change, especially considering the show wasn't expected to be this popular. Hasbro might have figured that most Bronies, who at least make up a sizable minority of the viewers, are going to have stuff to do on Friday afternoons.
Besides, saturday morning cartoons are practically a staple!

ReplyDeleteAlso, my wild guess as to why they need to find the Elements of Harmony again: They lost them during the party for Princess Luna. In all the excitement of the Summer Sun Celebration, the return of a royal sister from a millennium of banishment on the moon... they all woke up the next day with no clue where they placed them. Most likely they got picked up by somepony who was stuck doing the cleanup, and got tossed out in the trash. Now, Twilight Sparkle and her friends must brave the Everfree Forest Disposal Area and search through mountains of trash to find the salvation of Equestria. Toss in an Aesop about you should always take good care of your possessions, and that indiscriminate landfill usage is bad, and we have a winner of a season two pilot!
....
Or maybe not, but it's the best reason I can come up with.

ReplyDeleteHopefully the Mane 6 rediscovering the Elements of Harmony is something other than "Derp we forgot the magic of friendship! Oh how forgetful we are between seasons!".
Something such as this Discord character stealing them (like any good villain in a cartoon) and hiding them in unguarded places or places guarded with silly henchmen (like any bad villain in a cartoon) would suffice. And the main adventure is the ponies working together to get the amulets that represent the Elements of Harmony (the amulets that appeared shortly after blasting Nightmare Moon with the power of a double-rainbow ("so intense, blah blah blah"). Basically, like every platformer game's storyline since console gaming was invented.
That said, it wouldn't be a bad thing, the FiM team took the cheesy premise of Season One's two-parter and made it fun and interesting, after all. There's nothing to say that they can't do the same here.

Hmmm, this seems very possible. Seeing as they are aware of how popular the show is, I'm sure they are trying as hard as they can to release the new season. Also, the name and plot seems like something the FiM team would do. It just sounds like their kind of plot/title. Can't wait to see if its true. I don't see why they can't release the first episode now (even if they aren't done with the last few) because it takes a while for all those episodes to be released.

ReplyDeleteOkay, I've been reading all these comments while listening to my pony music collection, thinking about Scootaloo of course because she's the best, and breathing very heavily and quickly while sweating the poniest sweat I've ever sweat. I just measured my heart rate: 20% per minute. I have my first day back at work tomorrow after a long break, and I should probably be asleep right now but that will simply not be happening until I'm done ponying out this night. My adrenaline is at max capacity and my inhibition is at its bare minimum. Time is flowing slower, allowing me to cherish each millisecond as though it were several eternities. I feel like I could sprout wings and a horn right now and create magical ponies that would teach me what I want to know and make me feel how I want them to make me feel. Then we would all begin eating ice cream cones made of love and good will in a meadow I created by converting my happiest memories into pure physical substance, and those ice cream cones we would lick and we would share for hours on end. We needn't worry about the ice cream cones melting because I hadn't yet created the Sun.

ReplyDeleteDiscord implies chaos, which is simple enough. And chaos can be thought of as "freedom" of a sort.
In most places in Equestria the world is under tight control, the weather isn't even allowed to change on its own.
The one place they are afraid of more then any other is the Ever"free" forest where nature is "free" to act on its own without pony oppression and this terrifies them.
So the theory is that Discord might be from before the ponies took such control and the Everfree is somehow under his influence.
Second theory is that there is a reason why Celestia isn't a queen, because the King is still alive...
Just random thoughts.

Anyhow Discord could be the ancient disposed ruler of all of Equestria, under which the world was like one big Everfree forest.

ReplyDeleteKinda hoping Discord is more of a "V for Vendetta" or Jules from "Pulp Fiction" compared to just being a dick. As Celestia is the embodiment of Harmony, Discord might be a loose cannon of sorts that has a valid point of view, but is willing to go a bit too far to to prove his point than Celly is comfortable with, so he's iced when he isn't needed, but isn't killed because he's just as needed as the sun and moon.
I'm gonna assume he's a good villain, considering the team involved. More power to you guys and I can't wait to see what you guys done did.

They made them APPEAR once, to defeat Nightmare Moon... maybe after being used they,well, simply *disappeared*, back to whatever they came from ?
It would be a logical way to work, for 'Magical Artefacts', really.
They were summoned, and went away once their ''job'' was done.
And, now the mane cast must ''re-summon'' them, in a way or another.
Can't believe I hadn't thought more about this, before now ?

ReplyDeleteIf the season does indeed premiere on September 17th we won't have to wait that much longer for TV Guide or AOL TV to absolutely confirm this. The lead-time for TV Guide or AOL TV is about 2-4 weeks, so we'll see stuff any day now.
(Even if the show actually ends up premiering in October, like Season 1, I'm still pretty certain we'd see news about it any day now!)

ReplyDeleteHeehee! I've been stoked about Season 2 ever since I've heard it was going to be renewed, even before Season 1 ended! Season 1 just left everyone hungry for more.
When everyone who has worked on the show is excited over the episodes, I take that as a very good sign! I believe a strong passion for one's work makes for results unmatched. :D
I sincerely hope that when the season airs, MLP:FIM will take over as the top cartoon on the Hub and stay there for a very long time. I hope this season does Lauren Faust proud. You guys (the entire production crew) seriously deserve it!
It's some crazy hope of mine that this cartoon gets noticed by others in the industry. There is absolutely no reason why a "cartoon for girls" has to suck. There is absolutely every reason for it to be awesome--not just for girls, but just about everyone!
