• Friendship is Magic Upgraded to "Good Article" On Wikipedia

Friendship is Magic  has finally hit "Good Article" status Wikipedia page.  Out of 3,698,916 entries, only 12,463 have actually been classified as "good".  That's a pretty impressive accomplishment!

Thanks to the bronies over at the ponychan thread for making it happen.  We are just one step away from "Featured" article status, which will toss FiM to the main Wikipedia page.

And you guys said FiM would die off during the hiatus!

    8. The page is mostly good, but when I looked at it, it called you Shaun. I fixed that though, so its all right now.

    9. All I can say is Friendship is INFACT Magic

    10. I like that Luna picture a lot more than I should. Go Wikipedia and all that.

    11. @Ponies!!! Seth's name IS Shaun. Or was it Shawn? Now I have to find that Wired article again... unless you changed it to Micheal Cera. Then that's okay.

Anyway, this is some very awesome news. Soon enough, FIM will take over everything, and we can usher in a new world order of loving and caring!

    12. I wonder what we will do to stave off our thirst for ponies next hiatus?

    13. Good heavens Luna!

On the news though, "Woo Hoo."

    16. In b4 Luna banishes Seth to sun for showing a pic of her that was taken while she was under the influence.

    17. Die? If anything the absence of pony has created yet more pony.

      ReplyDelete
    18. Wikipedia has a front page? I don't think I have ever been to it.

      ReplyDelete
    19. What? No mention about the person that actually did all the work?

      ReplyDelete
    20. I never said FiM would die off. I said we'd increase our numbers by 1000 or even 10000.

      ReplyDelete
    21. And to celebrate this event we have naked Luna.

I see how it is, convince the world we're all sick in the head! Right when I thought we were accomplishing something, too...

    22. As one of the editors (and a long-standing admin and contributor) for the article, getting the FIM article to featured is going to require a lot more info from third-party sources (eg like the Wired or AV Club articles).

Once featured, though, even getting it on the front page is going to be even more difficult. Doable, just that we can't rush it.

      ReplyDelete
    23. Agreed. This is going to need a lot more work before it's FA.

      ReplyDelete
    24. AWW YEAH!

      This calls for a party!

      ReplyDelete
    25. MLP: Friendship is Magic wont die.

Also next hiatus were likely to end up annexing Brony and declaring it a state of Equestria

      ReplyDelete
    26. Kudos to the bronies on Wikipedia! Keep up the great work!

    27. AAAAHHHH! BEEEEEEEEES!

      Aw, my bees. :(

      ReplyDelete
    28. @masemPlus, there's also A-class articles to go through before FA.

      ReplyDelete
    29. Good luck getting it featured on the front page.
Hope you can pull it off.

    30. @Isoraqathedh

Not necessarily. You could technically jump right to try to pass an article as Featured; the only reason to go through Good Article is to get a good quality assessment before that point.

A-class is definitely not a required step.

    31. Actually Seth, I'm pretty sure it was YOU that said that.

How's it feel to be proved wrong?

      My money's on GLORIOUS.

      ReplyDelete
    32. Yay, also I actually contributed to the article by putting in Lauren Faust's responce to Kathleen Richter.

      ReplyDelete
    33. Well done everyone! Keep up the good work so we can hoof it to all those people out there who don't believe in the power of friendship!
      P.S. Nice pic Luna! ;D

      ReplyDelete
    34. I'm surprised parasprites haven't made any attempts to raid it.

      ReplyDelete
    35. Colbert and Wikipedia...yep, we're on a roll here! Excellent work, one and all you bronies!

    36. Every day, I am more and more surprised at how much this community is STILL thriving. I came in pretty darn late, around the time of the first NATG here on EqD, and I thought the bronies out there were making some pretty amazing original content. Months(?) later and there are still daily alerts that bronies are making news or getting noticed, and original content may be a little slower, but it's still thriving.
I'm a little afraid what will happen when the new season starts. If what we have now is a lull, that will be an explosion.

      ReplyDelete
    37. I'd say this is GOOD news. Keep up the GOOD work.

    38. I'm not happy that the "criticism" part is still the nutty, ideological babbling of Kathleen Richter, who didn't see the show, and Amid at Cartoon Brew who launched so far into drama queen land (because, uh, toys are evil, or something, and every toon should be scratched out in blood in private workshops run by angels) he's still trying to find his way back with a military grade GPS and crack sherpa team.

Someone in the comment page said "It's not our place to decry if someone never watched what they were supposed to review." Excuse me? That's really the *only* way to judge the opinion of another- is it ignorant or informed? I say you darn well *can* implement some quality control in the selection of what reviews to feature in the criticism section. Otherwise it comes across as tabloidish- seeking out extreme opinions regardless of the knowledge behind them just to stir controversy.

    39. I clearly must read this article again now

Dunno. Everything seems to be ponified in the gap between S1 and S2.
If there will be a S3...

Well. It's a long way, the excitement and enthusiasm might die out by then.

      If not...

I have wild guesses...masses of bronies invading the White House and repainting it to Rainbow House?

      Brony Theme Park?
We take over that little village (Brony) in Poland and build an exact copy of Ponyville?

Found the Church of Allicorns, praise the pony goddesses and the eternal cycle of the universe, delivering the message of harmony and caring?

Bronies For Good grows so big it will be bigger than the Red Cross?

Start political parties for bronies in as many countries as possible, win elections throught the power of magic and friendship?

Pony Museum of Fine Arts? (Moe you are getting a seperate wing damn you.)

We get DNA samples from Seth and clone him. We make sure the clones work on pony related sites 24/7.

I would be game for reshaping things to pony. The Nasca Lines, the statutes on the Easter Islands, the Sphinx in Kairo, etc.
Those things need some renovation anyways xD

Also someone will have to create an interactive online software working similar to an advanced high-grade electronic dictionary for the myriads of OC ponies we will have by that time.

Just a few things that popped to my mind all of the sudden :)

      ReplyDelete
    41. this is terrible news if it gets featured. I have NO idea why you guys want attention, why cant you just enjoy the show without having to flaunt it?

      ReplyDelete
    42. @Screwpy

Unfortunately, they are really the only reliable sources of criticism I've been able to find about the show. Even the positive articles like the AV Club review doesn't ding the show and while you can read between the lines to know what they didn't like, the fact they didn't say it doesn't give us any to use.

At least we have Faust's own direct rebuttal to the other piece, and the CB essay is more about the state of animation and less about the show itself.

    43. Die during the hiatus?
Heck, this is the real time for the fandom to shine! With all due respect to the show, you can only watch it so many times before you start getting crazy waiting for season 2.

The sheer variety and dedication you see with all the fan content stands as the ultimate proof that this fandom still stands strong.

    44. Isn't she still wearing a hat?

      ReplyDelete
    45. @Ewyndall
How about a (Hasbro) theme park section at somewhere like Universal Orlando? It would be just as big and commercial as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

      ReplyDelete
    46. It won't be long before it becomes a featured article...

      ReplyDelete
    47. Well done, everypony involved in this venture. Can't believe I hadn't thought of this. You've shown great devotion to the cause to establish an article with the necessary care and diction to become an official "Good Article" by Wikipedia standards. Continue your hard work and get this article to "featured" status, pronto! We do this and obtain even more exposure... but this time it'll be through an even more commonly visited site; CGS can continue!

"We get DNA samples from Seth and clone him. We make sure the clones work on pony related sites 24/7." - I'm going to pretend I didn't read that due to the fact that it would be cruel and very unloving, but the other stuff sounds cool, Ewyndall!
