ReplyDeleteI have to keep in mind that this is still a kids show. So even though I would love a romantic Lyra and BonBon episode, it wouldn't work.
I would love an episode with Derpy, but it's very very thin ice putting Derpy in as a main character, because of her special condition. Nobody wants a very sad, depressing episode about disabilities. On the other hand, if you make it too funny it might become offending.
It IS thin ice, but I would try to make an episode about Derpy, that despite her "special condition" she is loveable and a valuable member of Ponyville. Morale is obvious there.
Or, as option 2, Derpy and Carrot Top. Derpy casually visits and empties fridge and such. Carrot getting totally annoyed by it as time goes on, but in the end they end up as joint tenants :)
Option 3: Octavia and DJ-Pon3 are locked together somewhere for some reason, they have to be at the same event or something like that. I would love to see their argument over music and style. Of course it would end up with them getting along and showing respect for each other.
Yes the morale would be somewhat similar to Look Before You Sleep, but I'm confident it could be made into something different with some work and smart writing. :)

I have not read all of the above, but I'd like to pitch a story idea that could actually be considered worth producing, with a lesson.
ReplyDeleteDitzy Doo AND Dinky are the featured BG ponies. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon make Dinky their new target of ridicule, deriding Dinky's mother as "derpy". The CMC come to Dinky's support and learn about the insensitivity of such teasing, and what it is to live with disabilities.

-A proper wonderbolts episode exploring the backgrounds of Spitfire. Maybe play on the fact that she still has a day to spend with them (I mean, she kinda won the Young Flier's Comp!)?
-Dr. Whooves... I know about copyright and all that... but if a few higher ups get converted to hardcore bronies, I think they'd pass it just for the hell of it.
-Vinyl Scratch and Octavia. Clash of the cultures! Maybe throw in some Ziggy Stardust, Blues, Lyra... and maybe Sweety Bell (Give her a chance at her Cutey Mark!).
-And Nyx. I want Nyx. Nyx is f***ing adorable. Maybe in socks too. SOMETHING recognizing the fandom.
-And just for the hell of it, make up some background ponies in each one based off fan-made ponies. (IE, Little Pip, Chel in pony form, Nyx, Stephen Coltbert... any OC pony that appears in a six-star story. I think many of us would have our brains explode like that one scene in Scanners)
As many as they can possibly do. That's partially why I wrote 'The Melting Pot' (not that I'm trying to say my fic deserves an official MLP adaptation); if you're going to define what one background character is like, might as well go for the gusto and define as many as possible.

A few wanted OC's like Nyx to have an episode. I Past Sins would be a fascinating plot for a movie, but a story arch in the show would end up like the Terra thing in Teen Titans.

ReplyDeleteRoseluck is a florist and one f the best known ones in Equestria. One night, Princess Celestia summons her to the Royal Archives where it is revealed that Princess Luna has come down with a sickness that must be cured within three days or else she'll die. However, the only cure is a special medicine that can only be made under the light of a full moon and the next one is in two days. Another problem, however, is that one of the ingredients is a rare flower that can only be found in a country other than Equestria.
Roseluck, along with Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy who are gong as a diplomat and mediator respectively, head out to the next country as soon as possible. However, during the trip Twilight Sparkle comes down with the disease as well and Fluttershy stays behind to help her, sending Roseluck on ahead.
Upon arrival at the Palace of the other country, Roseluck is escorted to the Princess that lives there. She reveals that the flower can be found in a pool but that the pool can only be accessed for a window of ten minutes every two thousand years and that the pool has already become inaccessible. Dejected, Roseluck goes to a bar/inn to sleep and report her failure.
The next day, as she's setting out of town she's approached by a mare who claims to know of a place where three of these flowers grown, but it'll take at least a day to get there on foot. However, there is a hidden trail that can get them to this cave within a few hours. The pony gives her a map and disappears.
A few hours later, Roseluck arrives at the cave. Just as she's about to get one of the flowers however, the mare that gave her the map appears and crushes all but one of the flowers before taking the remaining one for herself.
The two engafe each other in a fight and all seems lost. However, Roseluck begins to glow with the same energy as that of the Elements of Harmony and beats the other mare. Looking at the sky, Roseluck notices that she only has a few hours left to get to the palace but she'snot going to make it in time. Quickly, she heads off to the palace.
Upon arrival, she notices that the full moon has yet to set as Princess Celestia has been keeping it up for her. They make the cure, but they realize that Twilight Sparkle has also come down with the sickness, as has Fluttershy: the sickness is contagious. Luna encourages Roseluck to give the cure to the other two and closes her eyes for the last time.
Two days later, Roseluck is approached by the mane six and taken to the Palace. There, Princess Celestia reveals that Roseluck is the hidden seventh Element of Harrmony: Trust and that her power combined with the moonlight was enough to cure Luna. In the end, Pinke Pie throws a party and Roseluck joins the mane six, effectively becoming upgraded from background character to mane character status.
Well, that or an alternate ending where instead Princess Luna goes into a coma instead of dying and Roseluck becomes a reserve Element of Harmony and we get a story arch about trying to bring Luna out of her coma.

ReplyDeleteRaindrop is mostly seen with Derpy and people on Fim wiki think they are go well together, but in fandom I have nothing seen of it.
OK, how about a combo of a couple of the ideas floated here.
ReplyDeleteAn anthology style episode with short bits about a bunch of background ponies, fleshing out their characters a bit, but also presenting a continuous story-line through the episode. (Like "21 short films about springfield." It's been done well before and could be a lot of fun.
Also however, in the background during the episode you keep seeing members of the mane six running around doing things, some of them obvious, some of them inexplicable. None of this is noticed of commented on by anyone.
Later on in the season, (possibly even the last episode of the season.) the mane six have to overcome some threat to ponyville while keeping the threat secret from the townsponies so they don't panic. As you watch, it suddenly dawns on the careful viewer that this episode is what was going on in the background during the anthology episode.

ReplyDeleteScootaloo saves Diamond Tiara from the Diamond Dogs and in gratitude she let's her join her and Silver Spoon for a day at her uncle's Ponyland Amusement park.
ReplyDeleteScootaloo finds out she enjoys being one of the popular ponies and finds herself slowly drifing away from the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
In the end she finds out who her true friends are.
I would contact BBC and try to see if they would allow an episode with six of their charries of past Doctor Who's. Obvsly having Doctor Whoof, Romana The Master, Jenny, The Rani, and Susan Foalman. They have all been for some reason turned into ponies (or in Susan's case a filly) and they must adapt to their new life. Gosh that would be an epic show

As she runs, several backround ponies either help hinder her, but all of them seems to know what's going on with, as Luna calls it, "the legendary Box of Derp

ReplyDeleteI like the idea of featuring Doctor Whooves, but realistically, it will never happen. It's just not likely that the hourglass cutie mark was ever really an homage to Doctor Who.
ReplyDeleteSo far, any allusions to other works of popular culture have been presented in a subtle fashion, so as to not confuse any members of the audience who aren't familiar with the reference.
I much prefer story ideas that could actually stand a chance of being produced as episodes, in keeping with the series' established tone and style of storytelling
It's hard. I can narrow it down to Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, Ditzy Doo, Big Macintosh and Gilda. I know the last two aren't that minor, but still.

ReplyDeleteI always saw derpy hooves as a single mother working hard for her money, I know she works for a moving company, and they use packing BUBBLE rap so that part makes sens, and also she kinda has bags under her eyes in some of the clips she is seen in, so this leaves me to believe she's over worked, as for the mother part well I just think derpy as a mother is cute.

ReplyDelete- Amputate her horn, and forever sever her from the gift of magic (And possibly music)
- A difficult and rare Cure
- End her suffering before it becomes too agonizing
Twilight's found the cure, but the ingredients aren't just from across the border, they're from across a whole other realm. Twilight has to stay behind to keep the gate open, or else they'll never get back. The realm's rules of physics are completely unlike Equestria's. So much so, that the pegasi are grounded for the entire duration, or else risk being lost forever. And in a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory style of events, the herd of five Manes plus Bonbon are eventually whittled down till only Bonbon is left.
But there's also another problem: the flow of time in the realm is two-thirds that of Equestria's. Bonbon is faced with the dilemma of forgoing the ponies who helped her get so far just to save one, or lose Lyra to save the others.

And then for some reason after they win, Luna shouts "I'll get you, Inspector Gadget!" and the pony rangers get stuck in the 80's.

Then some awesome stuff happens in the episode, including FlutterShy explaining what the 'thing in the place' was and Twilight finding out she has 'Secret-Tourrettes' which means she blurts out secrets for no reason. Also, Spike is diagnosed with Hypochondrosis

ReplyDeleteYeah, I've speculated about that too, but then again, look at a real life herd of horses. There are about 3-to-4 female horses to male horses. The more dominant stallions just get more mares.

Oooh, how about an episode where Lyra is sitting on a park bench next to a stallion that looks especially sad. She would ask him what is wrong and he would give her his story. She would comment that she has seen him before. She would invite him to hang out with her and Bon-Bon (I'll leave what they do up to your imaginations...) Obviously, he would be named Keanu.

Colgate and the cutie mark crusaders hang out, Colgate explains that she didn't know how she got an hourglass cutie mark, yet her talent is being a dentist.
ReplyDeleteLyra and Bon Bon are made fun of constantly for being the only known lesbian partners around. They stand up for themselves, saying that they are OK with just the way they are, and that they are only being themselves.
Lady Gaga get's turned into a pony, and DJ-PON-3 helps Lady Gaga make music that equestrians would like. Rarity sews a new dress for lady Gaga. (ick)
The Black eyed peas are turned into ponies and are told to wash windows. DJ-PON-3 thinks that the BEP shouldn't be subject to torture, and actually do something that they want to do.
Ponies start flooding Octavia with annoying interviews. Octavia decides that she hates being famous. In the end, Octavia learns to speak her mind when something is bothering her.
Berry punch has made a really weird looking new fruit juice, and only Derpy will try it. Derpy and Berry punch experiment with new recipes together. In the end, the other ponies learn that you shouldn't judge based on looks, and that it can be fun to try something new.
All of the ponies are complaining about stuff, and derpy is the first to mail Celestia about it. Celestia explains that she can't do anything about it, and derpy complains to Hasbro personally, about the things that Celestia can't fix, and the things that the ponies complained about. The other ponies learn that you shouldn't complain, you should actually DO SOMETHING.
7 episode ideas, I have used so much typing energy, the only thing I can do now is Flutteryay.

I still end-up dying, though. I didn't exactly say how it would end. Only that there would be a moral decision.
I would like to see an episode mostly about Derpy (Dixie Doo), and maybe what a day in her life is like. It would be nice if Dinky would be cannon as Derpy's daughter. It would focus partially on her job and some difficulties (presented humorously of coarse) that her "derped" eyes causes her and how she deals with it. It would also be nice if she had a little dialog with some of the mane cast or maybe a minor pony that helps her with her problem, because most likely then not, Twilight is going to appear to give the aesop of the episode.

ReplyDeleteGilda comes back seeking an audience with Dash. Dash keeps ignoring and avoiding her. The only way that she can find to speak with her is by making friendly with the other mane cast. We find out how Gilda has been without friends ever since that fight, and that RD was her only friend to begin with due to racial discrimination. After pleading her case to all of the ponies, when Fluttershy finally forgives Gilda, RD accepts her again.

ReplyDeletePinkiePie knows everypony in ponyville, right? how about a flash back episode where we learn about when pinkie pie came to ponyville and how she met everypony. it go into a little mini adventure with each of the backround ponies. it could be before the rest of the six moved to ponyvill (exept AJ, but she spends time on the farm) and could end with some HUGE party to celebrate her meeting new friends and discovering the power of friendship!
