• Fox News on Bronies Round 2!

    Last night I posted a link to a Fox News video on bronies.  Apparently they have busted out a round two of it.  This one is surprisingly less obnoxious, but still manages to do absolutely no research and is filled to the brim with bias. 

    That ONE line in the Wired.com article sparked all of this I think.

    Now before you all explode, please realize... Fox news has never been an actual news agency.  They are self proclaimed (Literally) just there to entertain.   Don't take it seriously.  It's pretty much just a more serious version of the Colbert show.  (see, I can do it too)

      By Celestia's Beard, are people STILL butthurting over a comedy news show doing a piece on us that wasn't bad at all? These guys basically said they were cool with it, even if they didn't get it. They were not bashing us.

      I was angry at the last guy to speak, but after hearing from several people who actually watch the show that he's always an asshole, I don't think much of it anymore. This wasn't a bad thing, quit bashing FOX.

      If anyone is rage over this one, then they need to see the first one they did on Fox2
      This one is many shades better, but that's probably because the first one was so very, -very- horribly bad.
      This one is just mainstream not quite getting non-mainstream, which is just about to be expected, and the guests trying to get a joke in somehow.
      So, I would not spew any large ill-will toward this on this account, just brush it off and trot on.

      Any news on MLP is good news people. This will bring plenty of curious bronies to the fold, increasing attention on the series and increasing viewership which means more chances of a continuing series.

      The fact that Fox is even airing time on it means it will draw plenty of hate, but alot of curious potential bronies in the making. People can't be pony-curious if they are not even informed of the magical properties of friendship.

      gaaaaAAAAHHH! These guys weren't idiots! They were basically the majority of the brony community pre-conversion! They're a bit befuddled, a bit confused as to why we would like the show, but okay with it. Hell, they seemed ~more~ okay with the idea than a lot of bronies I know were before they got converted.

      Unlike the other news piece, this actually IS Fox News, so at least that's accurate. OTOH, most of the bronies are not getting (or intentionally ignoring) that Red Eye is explicitly a comedy show (yes, I know, "all of Faux News is comedy!"). Moreover, the panelists were responding blind, and 2 of the 4 were vaguely positive (depending on actually seeing it for themselves.) How many of us were converted without a hint of skepticism before seeing it ourselves?

      Honestly people are just raging because "IT'S FAUX NEWS!!!" While there are a lot of things I can understand to gripe about Fox News, this really is not one of them.

      I uploaded the video and seriously didn't expect this kind of backlash.

      The footage itself is a few days old, I just cut out the part about ponies. And really, it's not that bad of a piece.

      Yes, it's lolfauxnews, but I can't really see how people that haven't heard about the show can react any better to it.

      Some of you people are being crazy and even flagging the video. Seriously? Flagging a video that' just the opinions of a few people? Not even hateful opinions? Ya'll need to take a major chill pill and just relax.

      Well, what do you expect from redeye? They have all the stupid of Fox, but none of the ability to make it seem less stupid. This is the same tv show that, a few years ago, said that the entire canadian military was lazy, stupid, and wore white capri pants. How do you even respond to such a base level of stupidity? You don't.       I was more bothered by the fact they couldn't get a screengrab of the FIM generation ponies since this is the one all the fuss is about.

      Wow, it sucks to see a MLP thread become polarized by the political stuff that this community is suppose to be so great for NOT having.
      1) This clip was not too negative considering REDEYE is suppose to be a funny show with little seriousness so the rage isn't even warranted. Its not like the coverage fox gave airsoft, for that, I could see rage.
      2) The idea that anyone who watches fox must be stupid and uneducated is common but not very tolerant. Any level headed look at ANY media (msnbc, cnn, bbc, fox, ect) shows that, while fox isn't perfect, the others aren't any better. This "faux" nonsense really makes me laugh. Some channels unhappy with fox's viewpoints and rating started to attack fox, and now everyone seems to be on the bandwagon. 90 percent of the anti fox stuff I see is incomplete or out of context (mind you fox does have a bias, just not the “SO MUCH WORSE THAN ANYONE ELSE EVER!” one that so many people say they do.), and sitting back and calling out a channel most people haven't even watched while (I hate this saying because it can be misunderstood as the "sheeple" argument commonly used by the ignorant, the tin-hat wielding, and those who completed two years of college under opinionated and biased teachers and think they now have comprehensive knowledge of the universe, but here we go anyway.) sipping cool-aid from an equally biased source. I watched all the networks, mostly fox and msnbc, until I finally got tired of watching a media war that did nothing but blow holes big enough to swallow planets in the fabric of logic itself and divided the country into waring sects. I can't guarantee you a 100 percent accurate source, but unfortunately I can guarantee that you can make thousands of people swear by a flat out lie they know nothing about simply by posting a teary-eyed tweet that Glenn Beck told nasty lies about you. I've seen it, and its sad.

      Fox News is also known for incoherent attacks on internet communities, and general ignorant fearmongering. Bronies would be reacting with a lot more love and tolerance if this weren't a longstanding pattern of behavior. (The Fox affiliate's hate piece didn't help, either.)

      Frankly, I doubt loving and tolerating Fox News will ever improve Fox News. But it's good practice, and good publicity, to do so.

      I take Fox's actual news seriously, but with a grain of salt and compared to one of the liberal biased news agencies. People need to understand tho, that Fox's commentary (Hanitty, formerly Glenn Beck, this, ect, ect.) is sheer entertainment and wayyyy different from their actual news.

      You're all retarded. Red eye is actually a comedy program. And I don't even know what the other show from the other report was, but it made some pretty good points. I have no idea where they came up with bronies taking work off, but it is true there are people capable of doing things that live off of our tax dollars instead.       I liked this piece. Red Eye is a fun show. Sure, they could have done more with it, shown some clips from the show or something. But yeah, I was personally glad to see a nod to us Bronies on a major cable news network. I think that's kind of cool

      I seriously don't understand all the hate this is getting. It's a completely inoffensive piece from a late night comedy show on the network (I suppose the idea that a news station even has a comedy program might not be sinking in with some people, but that is exactly what this show, Red Eye, is). This hate just plays into this silly notion of hating any and everything related to Fox News without giving it an objective chance. It seems the detractors have become more biased than the bias they're rallying against, which is really just ironic and silly when you think about it.

      Sure, Glenn Beck, even on the occasions I agree with him, comes off as a hysterical lunatic who should not have his own show and Sean Hannity comes across as close-minded and ignorant a lot of the time, but most of their other programs I've seen are fine enough. I don't watch a lot of news, but I'd actually rather watch Fox most of the time. The others are either just not entertaining, or the same thing biased the exact opposite way.

      For the record I quit watching the MSN for anything resembling actual news a LONG time ago. All of the 'news' networks are a bunch of idiotic talking heads who wouldn't know what a legitimate fact was if it fell out of the sky, landed on their face, and started to wiggle. This 'story' doesn't surprise me in the least. They're in the entertainment industry these days; they've given up any pretense of objectivity decades ago.Listen to the Eagles song 'Dirty Laundry' and you'll know exactly what I mean. I was born with high-functioning Autism so I'm used to being misunderstood and hated. I have a simple philosophy. I like whatever I damn-well please and if someone doesn't like it they are perfectly free to kiss my ass, their approval is neither required nor warranted.

      But seriously people, this is just the Red Eye, not Fox News as a whole. They can't judge us for what we do, so let's not judge them either.

      Granted, these guys really should have researched the show and fanbase more before jumping to conclusions, but just remember people: before we were bronies, we had the same mindset as them!

      We were all just like them once, we thought that it would be stupid to get into a show that was "for little girls", but lo and behold, we all adore it now! I guarantiee you if you calmly got them to watch the show, they would change their opinions of us!

      So let's not all be so negative to Fox News for this one video, that was only the Red Eye. Be patient bronies, we will rise one day and be so well known that it will be common sense to know that "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic" is indeed a wonderful show and deserves such attention and no one will bash it unless it's Steven Colbert or John Stewart or something...

      OK, I'll say it: I'm a social conservative who hangs out with others who label CNN the Communist News Network. On a web site we frequent, a thread was started about plumbing that contained a joke (REPEAT JOKE) about a toilet "powerful enough to flush a pony." Two members responded with MLP:FIM image or fan art, ones that were appropriate and funny. Another commented as to how funny one of the images was. BRONIES CROSS SOCIAL LINES!

      Actually, I think we came off okay in this one. The host was trying to bait everyone into taking a swing at the bronies, but no one bit. The only really negative guy came across as awkward and didn't give a real reason for what was wrong with it.

      My god, their "brony" commentary really didn't bug me. It made less fun of it than the guys on Red Eye do most other topics (actally the only show on Fox News worth watching, and it's on at 4AM of course)

      ...but my rage was activated when the one dude actually used the word "JAPANIMATION"....my god I thought that abomination of a word died off YEARS ago. Clearly anyone who uses it has never watched more than a scant few minutes ANIME in their entire lives.

I'm 13 and all my friends know i watch My little pony some call me queer others try to reason me out of watching it *With bullshit reasons might i add* Mainly "it's a show for little girls" or "All the lessons you could learn from that show you've already learned" last one was a real thing my friend said to me.       at first raged, raged like cave jhonson and his lemons but then i realised the source and, I have to agree Kapten-N on this, FOX networks isn't a REAL news network its 90% propaganda and i nor should anyone take it seriously in any way (after all it is owned by rupert murdoch) and such is the reason why i only trust BBC news (im british btw). but in true bronie tradition we gotta love and tolerate the F*** out of these guys even tho i do feel like inventing a combustable pony right now but sending them a really peved twilight at them will do the job nicely

      I feel sorry for FOX news, really. They're so bent on picking on people who are different that they don't realize their audience is composed of "different" people. Give them another few years and I doubt there will be anyone left to listen to them mocking the people who would otherwise be their faithful audience.

      There was one quote that got me though:

      Host: "There are worse hobbies for a young lad to have. Say terrorism for example."
      Commentator: "It's 50/50. Bronies? They're on the edge, I don't know."

      In the first Fox broadcast they compared us to "baby men". In this one they're saying we're fence-sitting terrorists.

      So which is it Fox News? Are we harmless baby-men or terrorists bent on destroying your way of life?

      The truth, as we all know, is that we are neither. We're still a new and poorly understood group, and I know we can let Fox News know that we disagree with them without being disagreeable ourselves.

      As a brony and a conservative, it pains me to see the animosity between the brony community and Fox News. The infamous clip of the gentleman describing bronies as guys claiming obsession with My Little Pony for disability (which was incredibly offensive and stupid) isn't actually from Fox News at all; it's from a local Fox affiliate from St. Louis, MO. And this clip from Red Eye, which is a weird show that airs at 2am, isn't normative of Fox News either. To then say that Fox has never been an actual news agency is rather unfair.
