And an update on the fanfic thing since a lot of you were confused: It was new submissions, not updates.

It was was radically on the side of Pinkie Pie when last I looked at it. I don't really think it's fans voting as much as it's probably just someone using various methods to spam vote it up. Wouldn't be surprised if they're trolling pony boards right now. Oh well, tis the internet.

The rest of the story is about redemption, family, and the solid belief that your mistakes do not define who you are. Also, self-sacrifice, bravery, love, and tolerance. Love or hate the series if you want, but judging it by its cover (literally)? Really. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, they may have lowered some of Pinkie's scores if they believe people were trying to cheat the voting system. Not sure if there is a voting system, but I know my workplace did that once when holding a content. (Someone voted a billion times within a few hours one night, so we had to cut a ton of votes from said person.)

ReplyDeleteWell, I'm just putting it out there! The problem would hypothetically be people trying to cheat the voting system, not how many individual bronies voted. It's pretty easy to figure out when someone's voting every three minutes (or seconds!). Not saying people are doing that (I'm not even sure if it's against the contest rules), but it is something I've run into before!
Also, I see people above in the comments saying they're just voting again and again and again, so that's what made me think of it.

ReplyDeleteYou don't know what you're missing. It's an amazing fanfic. Hell, it's better than most books I've read, and I've read Shakespeare before.
Not sure about the names in Dragon Tongue. Each symbol represents either a single letter or a double, such as: aa, ah, and ii, to name a few off the top of my head. So, I'm not sure why that names have so many letters. Unless there are translations for: "Octavia," "Celestia," etc.. that I don't know about that go beyond assigning the appropriate dragon symbol per letter in the names.

I think I saw the hardback Past Sins on youtube. Or at least that particular person did and followed suit. Apparently it's a site you can upload a text file to and pay them to print it in different styles. Hardback book is one of the options. And for being fairly cheep, less than $30(i think), I had considered it myself. But chose not to since I could read it on my computer, or have it on an e-reader if I ever get one.
That bed looks inviting right now, after a long day at work. But, got to finish playing a bit of Skyrim first before I think of sleep.
How is pinkie being challenged? I've never even heard of the guy who's giving her a run for her money.

@Mattwo The Dragon translations are actually "X is best pony" where X is the name on the left. So with Aloe, only the first 4 characters are her name. The rest is just "is best pony". This is done with every name. And these can't really be used as shouts either...since they are direct roman translations, and not actually dragon language.
