• Spanish Winter Wrap Up

It looks like the Spanish version of FiM has finally hit Winter Wrap Up.  Unlike their past songs, it does actually do a pretty good job! Check it out after the break.

    4. I have to say, this is the best of the dubbed I've seen thus far.

    5. Hmmm....

      10/10 :3

I think that's the best they could get it with their VAs

    7. I agree with Jelfes, this dub terrific!

Even if I don't speak Spanish.

    8. Woah, i just realixed that my "@Jelfes agreed" fits perfectly into BOTH of your comments. #unintentionalseewhatididthere?

    9. I so need this for my Spanish 3H class.

    10. I completely agree.

This is what happens with the spanish dub. It starts really bad, the voice acting in the first episodes is just drill-in-your-ear bad. But as it progresses, it gets better! The voice actors sound like they finally get used to their characters, and the job translating the songs shows effort. This is the first song in spanish that actualy rhymes!

Sadly, they haven't dubbed any other episode after 13, so I guess we will have to wait. Either that or find a team of voice actors to make a fan dub.

    11. I don't speak a lick of Spanish, but that was just fantastic! The voices matched up pretty well and the girl singing Applejack even managed to get a bit of the southern twang in there. :D

The Twilight hit the high notes as well, and that's just fantastic.

    12. even if I didn't liked the voices, i have to admit that the translation was far better than i was expecting

      ReplyDelete
    13. Wow, I don't speak a word of Spanish and I understood most of this. (And not just because I know the words by heart <.<)

      ReplyDelete
    14. Spanish AJ? Is it just me or does she still have a southern accent?

      ReplyDelete
    15. I'm quite liking the dub, but it seems like the mane 6 VAs all sound a bit too...similar.

Still, always great to hear these in other languages.

    16. Guys I am from Mexico, and if i didn't like the latin spanish dub of episode 13 if I am not mistaken NOR THE EUROPEAN ONE I speak spanish En serio ¿Qué no es evidente? Incluso he de presumir que formo parte del club de literatos de mi bachillerato pero ese no es el punto ¿verdad? no WHAT I WANT TO LEAVE CLEAR is that the girls have like OLD PEOPLE VOICES...really it is THE HORROR!! THE FREACKIN' HORROR!! Yeah I am a native spanish speaker and I prefer 10000000 times the English voices.

    17. Me freakin gusta, it's waayy better than the Dutch one, if you don't believe me, search on youtube: Winter schoonmaak". (without the "s. )

      ReplyDelete
    18. @FlutterDutch You're right, that's horrifying, but I must say, nearly every dub I've heard has gotten Rarity to sound royal, proper, and lady-like as she does.

    19. Kudos, high school Spanish teacher, kudos. You told me I'd use Spanish in the future, and as of today, you are right. Who knew... who knew.
I like the translation, and while the voices seem a bit growed up for the ponies, they still did pretty good overall.

      ReplyDelete
    20. Not too shabby. Fun to listen to at any rate.

      ReplyDelete
    21. Some say it actually do a pretty good job, but it do sometimes.

      ReplyDelete
    22. At first I thought, well yeah, that's alright. Then when Twilight hit the last note I was like "Daaaaayyyum."

      ReplyDelete
    23. I'm liking how most of the (at least romance language) translations are staying pretty faithful to the original.

      ReplyDelete
    24. Native spanish speaker here.

You're being very lovely and tolerant, and I appreciate it, but NO. They ruined the song, and the whole dubbing is horrible.

The voice actors aren't good enough and the singers are very insipid. In comparison with the original ones, the spanish lyrics are just... awful. In fact, everything in the spanish dubbing is awful.

      But thanks for the tolerance.

      ReplyDelete
    25. Well I am from Mexico and TBH..... I prefer 1000000000000000000 times the american english version.... then this "Castellaño" or "European Spasnish" Edition.... I haven't even heard the Latin American and I don't think any dubbing will be better than the original english one hahah xD
But ohh well... I guess I'll just hear the english edition and that's all :P

      ReplyDelete
    26. What happened to Pinkie? Her voice is so... low. But otherwise, a very good job

      ReplyDelete
    27. I must say, I'm not a huge fan of the voices selected for the mane 6. Although the singing sounded good, and I'm no spanish speaker, it just doesn't have the same charm. I think it would require some retooling to better match language and culture before I would enjoy it as much as I do in its native language.

      ReplyDelete
    28. The voices being too grown up is not that big of a problem, except on Pinkie Pie´s case. I just don´t get why they chose that voice. I live in Spain and it´s not like we don´t have high pitched voice actors. I just don´t get it.

The translation for the chorus was really good, but Applejack´s and Rainbow Dash´s parts were just awful (I just want one rhyme, just one)Still, there was some obvious effort put into singing the not so well translated lyrics so this is still going on my library, if only to have one more chance of ponies randomly poping up during traffic

    31. Pinkie doesn't sound... pinkie enough.
Oh well, still pretty good. Can't wait for the german version. :P

      ReplyDelete
    32. Well, It seems that only native spanish speakers are disliking this version, and I'm no exception.
The first thing I thought was that RD, PP and AJ were voiced by the same person. I don't think they really are, but their voices lack the personality their original counterparts have, specially Pinkie.
I just hope the latin version turns out better, but I'm not completely sure it can, considering... (Slightly off-topic) Did you hear the latin version of Pinkie's buttering up song from episode 3? She couldn't reach the high notes! How could they cast for Pinkie Pie an a VA who can't sing?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see... Hear, actually.

      ReplyDelete
    33. As a non spanish speaker I only want to say that I rather liked it

      ReplyDelete
    34. That was......ohmygosh...awesome.....

    36. You know, I normally don't like Spain's dubbing and translations, but this was a job well done. It seems they did more than just a quick translate-and-cram-the-words-into-the-melody job.

The only problem is the voices sounding too old. Other than that, they get four stars from me.

Let's hope the Latin American dub is good enough too...

      ReplyDelete
    37. well as a native spanish talker i can say that its a good version but nothing beat the original

      ReplyDelete
    38. It was quite a good performance, but the voices of the singers are WAY TOO DIFERENT from the normal ones (which are quite horrible, by the way), not to mention that the song doesn't have the background chorus :$

Sigh, this series deserved a better dub. Other cartoons here have AWESOME dubs, and this one deserved the best :(

      ReplyDelete
    39. Hmm, there's been so many different winter wrap up remixes that I wonder when an "International Winter Wrap up" remix will be made. Hopefully the other dubs are as good as this one!

      ReplyDelete
    40. Honestly, it was pretty decent. Not comparable to the original, but still good. Problem with dubbing into spanish is everything has double or more vowels than english, so either you butcher the song's flow or its meaning.

Also, Twilight sounds too old, but Dash (from what I could tell) was spot on.

      ReplyDelete
    41. Mexican brony here, I understand the lyrics and I gotta say... Gosh~ The bar has been set and raised for the Latinamerican dub with this song. It's a beautiful piece and take in count that I don't like Hispanic dubs :O I blame the source material!

MOAR WWU IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES PLZ!!!

      ReplyDelete
    42. Who really sounds old is the Spanish Apple Bloom... Imagine a Flutterguy working on 7/24 basis...

The other voices sound ok on their own (like in no comparing with original) And even worked at hooking my 10 year old niece. (She would not understand it in English and wouldn't enjoy to read subtitles)

      ReplyDelete
    43. I love Spanish and I always wanted to learn this language... this vid is awesome! :D

      ReplyDelete
    44. I'm studying Espanol at the moment, and I think this is really well done. A lot of the actresses (Twilight in particular) really sound a lot like their American counterparts in this scene, much more so than the earlier Spanish dub scenes that were posted here.

And I think we've proven that this song is catchy no matter which language you sing it in.

Recoger se el invierno...primavera esta aqui!

      ReplyDelete
    45. Of course the Spanish dub has one voice actor. Damn you Mexico City localization companies!

      ReplyDelete
    46. >It's pretty decent, though I have no idea what they are saying
      >Twilight's VA hits the high notes
      >Shaweeeeeeeett!

    47. Word from a native Spanish speaker:

It was pretty good compared to the quality we usually get out of dubs of this kind, which is above average/good in a general scale. Let's see how the Latin American version holds out when it comes out, if it ever does.

      ReplyDelete
    48. It's...nice. Kind of clunky. Spanish is normally very beautiful to hear sung, but this doesn't quite hit the mark.

      ReplyDelete
    49. It's not as good as the original version, but damn I have to admit that I've never seen songs dubs that good since the good ol' Disney. Hell, French Flutterguy is even better than the English one. I didn't even know it was POSSIBLE.

      ReplyDelete
    50. ¿Por qué tengo el presentimiento de que la versión latina va a estar de la chingada?

      ReplyDelete
    51. ALRIGHT, EVERYBODY SHUT YOUR MOUTH, THEY EXIST TWO KINDS OF SPANISH: THE EUROPEAN AND THE SUDAMERICAN, THIS IS DEFINITELY THE EUROPEAN, AND ITS SOUND HORRIBLE!!!!!

is what normally happens with the Spanish dubbing the voices are very mature and lose a lot of personality and energy of the characters (no estoy tratando de ofender a los español solo digo que las voces no logran capturar la energía y la personalidad de los personajes)

      ReplyDelete
    52. @jorgeyo también siento lo mismo mi querido compañero Bronie... es inevitable!

    53. Well im mexican and i hope the mexican dub be better than the spain dub... you know... we understand each other but its not the same.

    55. I was wondering if songs would be good in spanish, since some of the work for animes was pretty good I've been having big expectance for it. I can tell you all, I wasn't let down.

      ReplyDelete
    56. Natve Speaker here!
It was good but it wasn´t horrible either! But not singing this ever in my life.
I hope the Latin american version does a better job, if not then I'll continue to sing in english.

      ReplyDelete
    57. bueno no lo pueden hacer es pañol latino eso es español españa/translation:can not do good Latin Spanish Spanish that is Spain.

      ReplyDelete
    58. This would be good if I wasn't Mexican. I hate spanish dubs because they overkill EVERYTHING. This includes this song. Almost no rhyming and they sound very off-sync.

      ReplyDelete
    59. Either my high tolerance of many types of music or the previous expectation that it will be less than stellar leads me to like this nonetheless. Now, I wonder if it will randomly pop up with my parents in the vicinity...

      ReplyDelete
    60. @idogis1

Actually, it was Spain who did this.

I can tell it from my time being mexican and because we still lack MLP:FiM down here.

      ReplyDelete
    61. hey now Dash and Applejacks scenes were great in spanish, and it's not easy making this word for word you know? they'd a have to redo the animation a bit for better pacing. They would have to edit things out.

"You think Carrots, celery and some flowers too" would of sounded more rhythmic? and actually fit in the scene without slow-motion some parts like that? I beg to differ.

I don't often harp about being a hispanic, and frankly dominicans need to grow the f up with the "ya'll stole our flags cause thats what our pappy said you alls did yeah so we hate you rawr!" and mexicans. I mean we have dialects and god knows I couldn't understand a mexican speak their Spanish since it's more related to Spain then the dialect that Puerto Ricans speak.

This is Spanish dub and a damn well one at that, and yes it did rhyme a lot and the effort to rewrite this song to fit the constraints of time in those scenes go totally unappreciated.

A few parts were a bit off key but that's obviously because they can't change the animation without HUBS approval and having to redo animations to sync with new voice actors.

I give this a 5 since I was expecting an awkwardly way out of place song, but they shattered my expectation and made the intro and all the cool scenes with Dash and Applejack (even the more mature sounding Twilight) sound fantastic! I am glad I am fluent in more then 1 language and this made me very happy <3

From afar you would think I'm white but I'm 100% pure Puerto Rican and proud of it, not that I think race matters. And no it doesn't no matter how many fat white republicans and other snooty politicians try to make it seem that way. Eventually they will all die out and replaced by younger less ignorant people (I hope, least for our country's sake!)

    64. I don't know why, but listening to ponies sing in spanish is much more pleasing to me. But I do have a few questions: 1. WTH is with pinkie's voice? 2. Why do they all have Spanish accents? I love translating songs, (Don't ask) and right now I am doing this one! *squee!*
