• Vector Compilation!

It took a few days, but I finally got through most of the emails filled with vectors sent to me.

Below, you will find a .rar with the following...

    7--Pinkie Pie
    5--Applejack
    6--Fluttershy
    3--Trixie
    3--Zecora
    7--CMC
    4--Cherilee
    5--Derpy Hooves
    5--Lyra/Bonbon
    9--Luna/Celestia
    2--Scratch
    3--Sapphire Shores/Photo Finish
    5--Random/Multiple
    20-Rainbow Dash
    13--Twilight Sparkle
    10--Rarity
    108--Total

Almost all of them are transparent (I let a few slide), and I didn't include the cutie mark vectors (aside from Trixie's that snuck in somehow)

This isn't every vector out there, just a good amount of them. Hopefully this will help jump-start your collections! Anyway here is the compilation!

    4. Vector Graphics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_graphics

Basically, by creating the image as a collection of lines, polygons, and curves, you gain the ability to export at arbitrarily high resolutions without loss of detail.

    9. For the curious, vector graphics simply refers to a mathematical representation of an image.

PNGs are not vector graphics. They are raster representations of a vector file. Meaning, your computer's processor interprets a vector file as pixels, which you then can save in a raster format.

    10. I could have used these a while back while working on my PSP theme. It took me a while to cobble together all the ones I could find at the time.

    13. Wow, these are fantabulous. Truly, this was an undertaking above and beyond the expected - but, hey, all the more reason to defend the pony fandom as the best fandom ever! Thanks to all who contributed. Brohooves and bowling pins all-'round.

    20. I'm simply too dumb to understand how these work so....I just fetch them without questions and enjoy ^-^

As an avid archiver, these are a must in my collection!

Onwards to the 4000 file count in my Pony folder !!!

    21. Hmmm....looks like png files. I know png files are better quality than jpg as jpg are compressed. The Wikipedia article says Vector Graphics are svg files which I've seen before but am not too familiar with. So svg files are better quality then png?

I'm curious at what resolution and file type do you artist use to draw your original pony comics in photoshop with? I'm considering learning how to draw (well trace maybe more accurate for now) ponies in photoshop. Don't suppose any of you have tutorials videos?

    22. @Fast and Free Anything for our good allies over at gryphon kingdom. Anything in exchange for not getting ate.

@BlitzWing00 People tend to get confused by technicalities like that. For all intents and purposes, in this case, "vector" is a high-quality image with clear lines.

In actuality, vector graphics have no resolution, only a set of points in space between which lines are drawn regardless of screen or paper size. Most Flash files are vectors, and that's FIM itself is drawn.

For ponies specifically, I'd recommend Adobe Illustrator (costly) or Inkspace (free). Photoshop also supports vectors - pen tool - but in a somewhat clumsy manner.

I've heard a lot of good stuff about Inkspace from beginning artists, you can find some in the links I spammed above.

      Cheerio.

    25. FYI... These aren't actually vector images, they're PNGs (raster). An example of a vector format is SVG.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Can we get them in SVG format? Not familiar with navving DA to find out if they have them posted.

    27. Wow, glad I found these. Transparent backgrounds really help if I want to have these fly around in After Effects. Great job artists, keep em coming!
