ReplyDeleteDash is the element of loyalty. In SR, Dash did her Rainboom while saving Rarity. I think it's perfectly feasible that she would do her first one while standing up for Fluttershy.

I finally understand why I do not like the first option. IT'S NOT EPIC.It's not the sing from witch somebody life depends. In SR Dash did it while she was saving several ponies from their death. But just a race with school bullies? To boasting up with the win? (you all know that helping Fluttershy in such not really dangerous situation will be only on the second place for RD). It just doesn't sound right.

Option 3: DASH IS THE MUTHA-FUCKING HEIR TO THE PEGASUS PONIES. WHAT THE FUCK ELSE DO YOU NEED? Even if it's not picked this is now my personal little Fannon.

Instead, the Pegasi will choose Derpy as their leader, and Equestria will enter a new golden age.

Conclusion: Hasbro is starting to court us.
Also, I'm guessing "Blue Thunders" was an early name for the Wonderbolts back from when Lauren was drafting the series, and somehow it ended up confusing whoever wrote these summaries.

I think this episode will shed some light onto Fluttershy's and Angel's relationship as well, there's a few second snap of her cutie mark appearing with Angel onlooking.

ReplyDeleteNumber 1 is too predictable, and the Sonic Rainboom episode seemed to imply that she was making it up about being able to do a Sonic Rainboom as a filly.
Number 2 violates what Dash said about being first in her class, which even if she were lying then, she'd never tell the CMC that story.
Number 3 is just awesome, though I guess I'm ok with 1 as long as its a lie.

ReplyDeleteMaybe she can only pull it off if she does it for someone else. The first time she did it because she had to stand up for Fluttershy and defeat those bullies, the second time she only managed to pull off because she had to save the life of Rarity and the Wonderbolts.
Just like Fluttershy has no control over her special power 'the stare' Rainbow has no control over Sonic Rainboom, it only happens when it has to happen.
I hope they don't butcher the filly voices and just use higher pitched squeakey versions of the original adult voices. People with voices like Rarity never sound like that as a kid.

ReplyDeleteOkay, Hasbro sees that MLP has an enormous following online and recognizes us. Cool? Absolutely. However, what they're giving us here is the power to decide the outcome of an episode and character development on the part of Rainbow Dash. This is absolutely not okay.
When it comes down to it, story should be left to the writers of the show, not the fanbase. Imagine if every show you ever enjoyed had an episode that was written not by professionals and those with experience but by the fandom. It would be a disaster. What we're deciding here should NEVER be our decision, it should be Lauren's and the production team for MLP.
Fandoms don't create the show, shows create the fandom.

But this is all secondary to the fact that the fans should NEVER become accomplices in writing a show.

ReplyDeleteI hope they do something with the idea that her rainboom is connected to her Element, or at least to the Power of Heart -- that her failure to repeat the trick all those years wasn't due to a lack of technique (and the first time being a fluke), but because it's magic that only works when she's doing it for loyalty to her friends rather than the need for speed.

Celestiadammit! I want to see no.1 and 3! I want to see her going BOOM! and protecting fluttershy and the flight school and rainbow dash as a freaking knight on a white horse but at the same time i want to see what type of epic adventure she can come up with which will mean fucking-shit-loads of new OC!!!

ReplyDeleteThere are no alternate endings. I can say this because Treehouse TV in Canada is doing a similar poll with Look Before You Sleep, with the canon ending and 2 endings where either Applejack or Rarity leave in tears. The fact that they don't show the poll results is indicative of it.

ReplyDeleteThe first makes the most sense with regards to Dash's character, at least to me. Her/The first Sonic Rainboom was performed when she was a filly, and it seems like the move would match her mark to a 'T'. Her hard exterior would also be congruous with the bullying, as well.

ReplyDeleteEverybody should vote Sonic Rainboom for two reasons #! It's cannon, Rainbow dash in sonic rainboom says that she did it when she was younger. #2 Filly Fluttershy getting bullied. Can you not her her squeak out in frear tugging on all of our heart strings? The sheer hatred we will feel towards the bullies will be unrivaled. and then Rainbow dash saves the day!!!

ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash wasn't as strong and fearless as she is now. When she was younger, her wings were rather small and meek, and thanks to her poor flight skills, poor performances in Flight School, and endless name-calling, she was meek as well. Until, the new girl, Fluttershy, came to town. Fluttershy was bold, witty, and a decent flier. When she noticed Dash's meekness, she introduced herself and they became fast friends. Flutttershy defended Dash and taught her some basics to flying, and on occasion, lending feathers to Dash's small wings. But the bullies were relentless, and one day when Fluttershy was at home sick, Dash bought Fluttershy a gorgeous pet bird from the pet shop with her allowance as a get-well gift, but soon after, the bullies Dash-napped her and took her to the highest cloud in Cloudsdale, and held her over te edge just to scare her. But one of the bullies accidentally slipped and Dash fell off the edge. The updraft was top fast for her to fly, she was falling so fast. Meanwhile, Fluttershy's pet bird reaches her house, and repeats the bullie's dialogue so Fluttershy comes to rescue Dash, but she's a little too late. Dash fell to the ground, breaking the sound barrier, but picks herself up when she's realized she performed a Sonic Rainboom. Unluckily, she went too fast, and flew right into Ponyville, crashing into Applejack's barn, knocking Dash out cold.
Meanwhile, Fluttershy is grief-stricken and heartbroken over the supposed "death" of her new friend, so she flies downward to search for Dash along with her new pet bird Charles. While down there, she catches some butterflies to feed Charles but she just can't bear to feed them to her bird, so she releases them and earns her cutie mark for her compassion.
Also, Rainbow wakes up a day later being cared for by the young Pinkie Pie and Applejack. She tells them her troubles and bullies, and they encourage her to stand strong, and Applejack, being the only one to actually witness the Sonic Rainboom, praises her deeply. They turn her over and continue to clean her wounds, wipe some dirt off of her flank, and notice her new cutie mark.
Fluttershy follows the rainbow trail to a hole in Applejack's barn, a few miles from the dropoff from Cloudsdale, and finds Rainbow Dash. overjoyed, but still traumatized, Fluttershy brings Rainbow Dash back home to Cloudsdale, both with their new cutie marks and completely different destinies.
To this day, Rainbow Dash knows she is destined to be the best flier in Equestria, and Fluttershy is destined to care for animals. Unfortunately, she never quite got over the trauma, and has been rather quiet ever since.
Third one reads like a fanfic where the only interesting people in the world just happens to be the main characters and they're special and do everything everywhere because they're awesome and eat dinner with moses and harry potter.

First one is consistent with what we already know, and awesome.

ReplyDeleteThat would never work as it counters too much of established canon including the fact that Applejack was surprised at seeing the Sonic Rainboom but Fluttershy was simply excited to see it.
On second thought the third one may be some crap she made up to impress them, in which case it's cool. But I'm not taking any chances.

Three could be fun, but I think One just makes the most sense. It ties together with what we know of Rainbow's past and her present personality. Three's just a little too out there. I mean, it's a story she's telling, right? There's no way to know if that's what really happened to Dash, which was the point of the whole exercise. There'll be plenty of time for awesome epic stories to be told later.

ReplyDeleteAnyway. I couldn't decide between 1 & 2. Guess I'll have to vote more than once. x3 I mean, #3 sounds awesomely epic like some of the other storylines so far, and it'd no doubt we cool to see, but I somehow feel it would be even more interesting to watch Rainbow's loving & supportive parents or her defense of poor little young Fluttershy. Either of those would gel with the plot so far and really add some more to the depth and the character backgrounds I'm sure we all crave. Besides, yeah...if #3 happened and then we were left unsure whether or not it really was the truth, it'd be kind of a let-down. 'Specially if we get the real deal on everypony else.

About the EPIC part - I meant not epic in usual way, but more dramatic. SRB was dramatic in that moment. But simple race with bullies... It's like not that tier of situations when you should perform a miracle.
And about new sides. I Hate that HASBRO has spoiled how RD get her mark. Now we know everything about that story! And that is not interesting. Of cause after such a huge spoiler I prefer to see something new than something I already know about.

Also wanted to add: Coloring pages featuring baby Spike and my 3 fave ponies (Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Twilight Sparkle) will short-circuit thy brain with cute.
#1 - It sounds awesome and it actually makes sense considering what RD told Apple Bloom about her Cutie Mark as well as when she talked about the Sonic Rainboom in the episode of the same name.

To be honest I really didn't care for any of the three options. I grudgingly picked 1 because it seemed most appropriate but have to agree with Don Ko as to why it's not 'epic'.

Rainbow Dash is basically Faust's version of Firefly, so I want her to be the true heir of the Pegasus ponies.

Let's just hope they put the others on the DVD's so we can see them at least (well, the ones of us outside the US, but seeing as we don't even have the show in Australia as far as I know, we won't get the DVD's at all anyway).
