Someone named EVN tipped me off in email about some upcoming McDonalds, so I called the them up to confirm it.
Apparently another wave of ponies is planned for March 9th (though she told me not to quote her on that exact date), along with Transformers on the boys side. They don't know specifically what characters/designs will be available, but she did say they usually try to release new sets, so hopefully something awesome pops up.
I was also told that this is going to be a huge promotion, and they expect to sell out of them pretty quickly. I guess our rabid collecting last time around tipped them off? We didn't have much access to blind bags back then, so these and the five piece molded set were the only show accurate stuff we could get our hands on (Even if McDonalds toys aren't really known for their quality). It sure was funny trying to sneak into McDonalds incognito style only to be called out as the third guy to come looking for ponies for his "Niece" or "Sister". I'm sure it will be twice as funny this time around.

I still expect Celestia to be pink. Why wouldn't she be when the stores still have her that way? I just hope Rarity's tail is actually purple and not at all like that picture.

Haha I bought the first wave on eBay two weeks ago when I joined the herd. This time Im gonna go in person, with a camera. A 23-year-old guy buying a full set of ponies will be YouTube gold xD

ReplyDeleteaccording to this link over at Derpy News you can apparently buy entire sets at once at most locations, since lots of people collect McDonalds toys, ponies or otherwise...
Going to go in and ask to buy one of each. Would've worked last time, except all the Dashies were sold out. At least I got my Rarity. They charged me $1.50 for each one.

I never pretend I want them for sister/niece/whatever. I just say "Gimme the ponies!" and they never ask for who I want it :D

ReplyDeleteHere in Norway at least, you can buy them separately as well. I've bought 2 of each of all of the current ones that are available now. (not the new ones mentioend here)
However, I seriously doubt they would refuse to let you order a Happy Meal regardless of your age. (can't say I've tried, but why would they care as long as you've got money?)

ReplyDeleteAlas, I despise McDonald's and everything it stands for, and therefore refuse to in the place. :S However an exception may have to be made (I could always just chuck the food, or perhaps give it to somebody who wants/needs it), because based on the last line of McD's toys, I know I'm gonna want these.
YES! I heard about the last one a day after it ended, so now I can-ohh no. My mom is the only one with a car now... She won't let me borrow it... So now all I have to do is get her to drive me to Mcdonalds, order a kid's meal, and ask for a girl's toy without her being the wiser... At least six times... No problem, right?

ReplyDeleteSince they're coming in March, I'll just get a Shamrock shake each time. If you buy food or a drink, the toys only cost around $1 each, but if you only buy the toys, they're double the price. I do this for every MLP, Hello Kitty & Littlest Pet Shop promotion, so I know the drill.
ReplyDeleteI've found my local McDonald's won't sell anyone any ponies other than what they have up front, so usually that means I get the ponies two at a time, so I have to make a minimum of 4 trips to get all 8. The managers claim they either "don't get" the customer satisfaction box, that they get it, but not until the promotion is over, or that it's auctioned off. I'm not sure what the truth is, but I've given up on trying to get them all at once.

ReplyDeleteI have a friend who works at a local McDonalds. I'm going to go as myself, try to see if he's at the register, and if he is make him get them for me just to spite him. Otherwise I'll go in like a hipster :P

Oh fuck yes. I missed the last McDonald's toys by mere days. Now I get to experience the thrill of finding out which toy I got for the first time since I was a kid.......or just buy them all at the counter.

Gameplan is this... Wear Brony tee on day of visit. Turn on MLP playlist on phone. Make sure peoples will HEAR playlist from phone. Approach counter with $25 ready. Ask employee at counter to dig through toy bin and find one of each of the STALLION'S toys they have. Front cash. Walk out of restaurant with an air of accomplishment about self. Enjoy ponies.
