No you didn't invent that ship, as I already wrote a fic where happened last month. It's called Soul of a Dragon and is on ff.net. It happens in the final chapter and it unimportant to the story, but it's still there.
Unto the main topic.
I loves Carrot Top's face in the final panel of the second one. It's too funny!
The first one was pretty meh... the second one was hilarious as always... but a little too similar to the halloween "What costume?" one. They both pretty much play out the same...
What can I say? I still laughed out loud to it... so I guess jokes don't always have to be original as long as they are executed well.
Derpy's special talent is making ponies happy. After all, who isn't happy when they're blowing bubbles? Or eating a muffin? Or getting a letter from a friend?
If the TV series ever ends, I think comics are the fandom's best bet at survival; they capture the essence of the show without being quite as tough as flash animation, and allow for broader creativity.

#2 I always thought Derpy's cutie mark was bubble wrap (*pop!, pop!, pop!). I didn't give any consideration to the idea of it having to do with muffins (what I don't know, but it's Derpy, it always makes sense.)
