But now that I got that out of my system, back to praises for a new update. Yay!
You know, it hasn't hit me until this chapter that the end is coming, and coming soon. I understand that there will be spin offs and all but still. Huh, not sure how I feel about this.
I would like to take a moment to express my disappointment in Luna's monumental failure. I get that Trixie is using a super weapon but still. Great chapter though, can't wait for the THRILLING CONCLUSION!

Unfortunately, they're not dealing with 'average' Asgardians. Loki and Thor were both the absolute best Asgard had to offer. And Gungnir was personally enchanted by Odin Allfather himself. And he was crazy strong, making Thor and Loki both look like pansies. So yeah, Trixie, already hopped up on Loki's magic which brings her to roughly Alicorn level, wielding a weapon created by the single most powerful Alicorn to ever live? BWAM.
Okay, first order of business, the Danger Field needs a codename, I suggest Rodney. Why? I like irony.

She-Hulk, a socially awkward semi-recluse turned super confident, extremely strong bodybuilder who can switch between the two at will.
Canadate: Twilight Sparkle. Reason: Who doesn't want to see Twilight the size of an alicorn, with toned muscles and bright green?
Spider-man, a suprisingly inteligent loner
thought never to aspire to much, turned wisecracking hero.
Canidate: Fluttershy. Reason: Irony.
Dr. Strange, a mysterious man of the highest order who knows things man was not ment to know.
Canidate: Dr. Whooves. Reason: It's like looking into a mirror...
Hulk, an incredibly inteligent but often overlooked person turned unstoppable berzerker when angered.
Canidate: Sweetie Bell. Reason: Last pony anyone would expect.
Canidate: Opalesence. Reason: We all knew that cat was going to snap someday...
Nick Fury, a mastermind of combat, politics, and several more subjects too numerous to count, who never actually seems to see the light of day because every time someone manages to kill him off, it turns out to have been a robot double. Answers only to the president.
Canidate: Owlolicious. Reason: As Princess Luna's secret agent, this bird gets his orders straight from the top, and has managed to go completely undetected save for unprovable suspicions from Spike.

ReplyDeleteFirst off, I like your Idea for the Danger Field code name, although I'd think it be better if there was a controlling AI called Rodney who was in charge of the Danger field's systems.
Next, I have to disagree with pretty much all of your pairs, their just not right.
She-Hulk - Twilight's not a good match because she's not that socially awkward, plus, she's a better match for a different character, I'll explain later. The best match for She-Hulk would actually be Fluttershy because Gamma mutants usually have opposing personalities between their irradiated and non-irradiated forms. If you actually read the comics, you'd see that this is a pretty good match up.
Spiderman - For the reasons above, it's obviously not going to be Fluttershy. I think spiderman would need to be an OC because I can't actually think of a good match for him.
Dr. Strange - First off, Dr. Whooves is already a Time Traveling alien super hero, he doesn't need a marvel analog. Secondly, Dr. Whooves is all about Science and reason, He doesn't even believe in magic and mysticism which Dr. Strange(AKA Sorcerer Supreme) is all about. Twilight would actually be Dr. Strange's analog because she's pure of heart and is also the most powerful magician in all of Equestria, If that doesn't qualify her for Sorceress Supreme, Nothing will.
Hulk - First off, He's already in the story. Secondly, SWEETIE BELL IS A GIRL AND THE HULK IS A GUY. Gamma transformations can do a lot of things, but they never change the gender of the one they're transforming. Finally, The Hulk in the story is a pony through and through, so that would rule out Opalescence.
Nick Fury - First off, Let's keep all the heroes as ponies and not pet animals, shall we. Secondly, He would also have to be an OC because there is no good match up for him. Finally, just say he's a master of Espionage, that pretty much covers all you said about his skill set and then some.

Like Dr. Whooves. How would someone who doesn't believe in magic cope with the fact that he suddenly has a great deal of it? Or Sweetie bell. Certainly the LAST pony one would expect to be the hulk, right?
Though I DO relent to your point on Fluttershy making a good She-Hulk.
I'm not saying they are all good ideas, just that it would be fun to think about.
If you want, I would be more than willing to continue debate with you on what hero matches with what pony. I have fun debating. ^u^
To add to the debate on pony match-ups, I have a bit of a conundrum. I need a pony to be Professor Xavier, has anyone got any ideas? Or should he just be an OC?

ReplyDeleteWell, let's just take a look here, what pony should have telapathic powers, perhaps at the cost of their legs?
I'm honestly going to toss out Trixie as a sugestion here, her ego could take a serious beating by KNOWING exactly what people think of her, and helping her cope might be a good way to get her on the team.
Twilight is the smartest pony in town, and Xavier is the smartest man known to man, a potential matchup there.
Dr. Whooves is likely the kind to be excited with his new power (read 'toy') if it should go to him.
You could use Derpy, and see just how awesome you could make her in this world of stereotypical muffin loving mail-mares with a speach impediment. Heck, you could do the same with Dinky, see if you can turn a kid usually used got the heartwarming factor in fanfiction into as serious and awesome a pony as you can.
Or maybe Rainbow Dash, trading the fastest wings in Equestria in for the fastest brain.
Those are my ideas for non-OC ponies, take them as you will.

ReplyDeleteI do intend to write at least one sequel, but I don't know when or have anything more than the most bare-bones idea for a plot. HOWEVER! Once the story is complete, I will be more than happy to accept stories, full or short, from anyone who cares to send them in. They can be about anypony other than the Avengers, 'cause those are mine, so you can write about Spider-Colt yourself if you want!
Ghost Rider is a good guy. One of my favorite heroes. Him being on Loki's side? Not cool. Other than that, cool story!

ReplyDeleteThis has actually been discussed before. I know Ghost Rider is normally a good guy, but Equestria has a radically different cosmology than Earth, and so the Spirit of Vengeance is not the heavenly spirit of justified vengeance, but a petty spirit of vengeance in general.
That, or Sunny Blaze was just being melodramatic and there's no spirit involved. Take your pick.
As for meta-reasons, he was too perfect a foil for Firebird for me to pass up, since I was having such a hard time finding a Dark Avenger to mirror her. I love Ghost Rider, and it saddened me to do that, but than I gave one of my favorite villains (the Juggernaut) to the one character in MLP I would like to die in a fire (Gilda). I am capable of sacrificing for the sake of story.

ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of both ponies (surprise of surprises) and Marvel, but before this fiction, I'd have doubted they could ever work together, but you /made/ it work.
The way you introduced superheroes to Equestria both made sense and was clever, you adapted the heroes very well, and the story really take advantage of the setting. By working in the idea about magic harmonizing between friends and tying it so close to the plot, it becomes more than just a superhero story with ponies instead of people. It all works very well together.
That said, this story has gotten my creative juices flowing as well. If we wished to contact you with an idea, how would you like us to do so?
P.S. Congratulations for possibly/probably being the first person to write a story that ships Caramel and Spitfire.
@Catharsis25 Remember only the current Ghost Rider is a good guy. (im not one who read the comics but I have seen the movies and from what i gathered there have been more Ghost Riders than the ones you meet in the movie. ITS a deal with the devil, hmm most heros would avoid.) Second Ghost Rider is an Anti-Hero ( not a hero, but not a villain. Pretty much handles things in the "WORSE POSSIBLE WAY" to attempt to quote rarity. Death is a solution, as most heros will avoid Death as a solution)

Wow, great series! I'm not an avid comic reader, but this is still true to most of what I know and even introduces me to a few amazing side characters in both Marvel and MLP that I didn't know much about. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAs for Proff. X, the teacher angle with Ms. Cheerilee does seem to work out. Her losing the use of all her legs though seems cruel since ponies use their forelegs as arms as well. Maybe only her hind legs? A lot of older pets need that little two wheel cart when their back legs give out. Her being in that condition and still persevering to help teach others to deal with their conditions could really be an inspiration to a lot of ponies.
And with all this talk of the Pinkie Sense, I don't suppose Pinkie could join up full time as the Spectacular Spider Mare? Swinging from building to building on colorful streamers and capturing her opponents with dual hoof mounted modified silly string shooters (made extra sticky and durable). We can finally justify her saying "My Pinkie senses are tingling!"
It'll be interesting to see what you do finally end up doing with the Main Six though, though if Rarity is the Pepper Potts of this world, I believe she'll end up being Iron Mom/Rescue of this world, Iron Mare or something. Rescuing the innocents of Equestria and looking Fabulous doing it! Plus being the element of generosity, I can see her also using her new influence as Blueblood's personal 'friend' to throw various charities and other functions. After all, Tony Stark was well known to be a Playboy, and if Blueblood is too engrossed in his work to attend or throw parties, it would naturally fall to Rarity to pick up the slack.
I would like to know what will happen to Spike though. The Cutie Mark Crusaders could be a type of Power Pack type of kid team, maybe with Dinky Doo joining in to round out the members.
Man, this is better than it has any reason to be. Even for someone like me, that only has a passing familiarity with comic books. Keep up the good work!

Of course, she COULD be both, and just switch costumes as needed, and really freak people out when she shows up as both at once.
Also, The last line in the latest chapter? It would be epic if it were to be taken litterally, just a huge, drawn out speech on friendship, or responsability, or something else so enormously cliche that Loki's brain melts.

(Norse mythology Loki became a Mare For a prank and became pregnant, Sleipnir was his sont from that union. Also Sleipnir is Odin's eight legged horse)

ReplyDeleteIf anyone of the Mane 6 deserves powers, then I would chose either Applejack or Fluttershy. Because given her way of living , her accent and her love for her family, Apple Jack could be similar to the X-men Colossus.

I would even included Rarity's sister, Sweetie Belle as teh X-men Dazzler, given her unicorn powers and love for music and singing.
I just got into this story and I'm LOVING IT! It would be cool if there was an expanded universe, where after Loki's defeat, non-mutated ponies would begin to have prejudices on mutated ones creating a sort of X-men scenario, with the avengers there having some part in the story...Well its a thought haha Any ways, keep up the good work, can't wait for another chapter!! XD

I have been noticing a pattern here every even numbered chapter is really good, then again so are the odd numbered chapters... anyways you told us to comment so well here is my first comment on this story. Also just as an idea I think it would be cool if you were to write the story of how Loki destroyed Asgard, although that may only be my opinion.

I am most curious to see how this ends (and seriously, I usually don't even like Thor! If I need Marvel godhood these days I go for Herc). The one thing I'm sad about is that you didn't use Spider-Pony when he is seriously my favorite hero ever, but I don't blame you and I do appreciate your desire to use a more obscure hero in Firebird. Still, that's pretty minor (as long, that is, as you do write Spider-Mane well when he does show up by the way. . . *WATCHING YOU*) and overall this is amazing. Also I have to agree with you on a personal level: Fluttershy is best pony. Though I think she ties with Twilight Sparkle. And while I'd never though of the FlutterMac pairing (outside of 'Beating the Heat' at least) it does have a certain appeal now that I consider it. In conclusion: Who's awesome? YOU'RE AWESOME!

So how about Zecora as Black Panther? I can't have been the first person to think of this, surely? There could be a side story about how she travels, with Twilight Sparkle in tow, back to Zebrica to attend a funeral for a family member. Only when she gets there finds a hostile takeover by enemy forces. All seems lost, but then an ancient family secret is revealed and there's mad action and cool explosions and a suit that has gadgets and claws made of Star-Metal. I'm almost tempted to write this one myself, but I don't think I could do Zebrica justice.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Doctor Whooves as Hulk. Brilliant scientist having to deal with an "agressive, violent, mindless other self", knowing it's the result of his own experiment that made him this way? Only Fluttershy has the power to calm the savage beast. (also it would be cool if it was revealed Fluttershy's father is an over-zealous army general intent on catching the Hulk)
Then all the mane 6 will be 'supporting' an Avenger, making way for a team-up against a truely epic threat. Galactus? Thanos?
Well, it's a great epilogue. I just kind of feel let down we didn't get to actually see Loki and the Dark Avengers get the smackdown they so rightly deserved. I mean, those were some of their biggest nemesises, and then we go from "I WOULD HAVE WORDS WITH THEE" to "...And that's how Equestria was made!"
ReplyDeleteit's been a good read man, still enjoy it and I ain't givin' ya a lower score for that. But I still feel disappointed, like the climax fight of an action movie got cut out and we go straight to the hero kissing the lady while a pile of wreckage lies in the background, telling us "wow, you sure missed that awesome fight!"
Trixie von Doom was great. Also, it is nice to see that the Mane 6 were not completely ignored by the mutations. Twilight wielding the elements now should be interesting.

ReplyDeleteWell I'm disappointed. It was such a great fanfic, well written, loads of nods to Marvel and the cameo by Stan Lee brought me a lot of joy. But for all the build up to simply skip the final battle in way of an epilogue is a huge let down, and for the high quality of the story it's a great injustice. I wanted to see the smackdown between Thor and Loki! By taking it to this epilogue it also ruins any sort of suspense if you do decide to put it in. I'd consider this a big screw up >.< You pretty much had me anticipating this from the beginning, like a delicious pudding, only to have it snatched from me right as I am about to take the first bite and replacing it with some after dinner sweets. Which while nice to enjoy is still like a punch to the gut.

For that I am marking you down =( I certainly wish you would correct it, if only for completionists sake, also makes me wary of reading any further stories if stuff like that happens.

ReplyDeleteAgreed, that break from chapter 16 to 17 was a big pacing failure as the author skipped the climactic battle and jumped straight to resolution. That is not how you finish a story. Bad author, bad, go fix it.

ReplyDeleteOh well, it's not badly written. I kinda wanna see the climactic battle but honestly we all know how it went down (Loki got the shit kicked out of him). It's more the lack of resolution for the Dark Avengers that gets me.

Intresting setup for the finale, but seems like Loki took on some Magneto right before he died. Granted I'm not that big on the Thor mythos, but it kinda came out of left field for me.

ReplyDeleteBrilliant finale. That was clever how the Avengers didn't just mix-up who was fighting who to catch the villains off guard, but it was written so that now the villains were on the weak end. Again, that was clever and really enjoyable.

I love what we saw in the Epilogue with Twilight Sparkle as Equestria's Sorceress Supreme (and the hint of Tirek being her Dormammu) and with Rainbow Dash as Quicksilver. Sam Vimes is, in my mind, the archetypical "never-give-up" badass. Caramel's talent is never giving up. When writing a character like that, especially for a scene like that, I channel as much Vimes as I can. So yes, that was entirely intentional. Vimes FTW.

I may or may not have plans for the Scarlet Witch. Not sure yet. I do want to see if anyone approaches me with X-Ponies ideas first, since she began in X-Men. (HINT HINT: I WANT X-PONIES IDEAS. SEND THEM TOOOO MEEEEEEE)

ReplyDeleteJust dating at the moment, but very seriously. Caramel is eyeing engagement rings cautiously. All of Equestria knows they're a couple, which caused a minor scandal since Firebird is known to be Spitfire and everyone assumed Spitfire was dating Soarin' (she wasn't).

I'm basically thinking Cherilee's class because the original X-men all started out as children at Prof. X's school. I'm also thinking that with so many young children getting powers, Somebody is going to have to teach the children how to use them, and with teaching being Cherilee's special talent, it just seems to fit.

Alternatively, going away from the 'kids as X-ponies' thing, Fluttershy as Shadowcat. Then again, Fluttershy as She Hulk probably works even better.

Applebloom would probably make more sense as Rogue, or Taskmaster, considering she had the whole Cutie Pox thing.

ReplyDeleteGuys, I said this in the epilogue. I'm NOT doing X-Ponies, or any franchise that's not Avengers. Instead, I'm accepting FAN SUBMISSIONS for them. MY email is right there, in the author's note at the end of the epilogue. If you want X-Ponies written, go write it yourself and show it to me. This goes for everything other then Avengers, as well.
I've said this multiple times already, and yet I'm STILL getting requests for X-Ponies and Spider-Colt, and only one person has emailed me with his own story ideas so far. It's getting very annoying.

By the way Koolerkid. I know it's a bit old, but I finally found the perfect comic character matchup for Discord. It's Golden age Mr. Mxyzptlk. I know he's DC but he's still the best match up. Plus, you know how those fifth dimension loons don't give a $%^* about copyright laws. @koolerkid. . . If no one objects I'd be more than happy to try my hoof at writing spider-pony (and, despite his relative youth, it probably should be pony and not colt. I remember there being a Dark Age Spider-Boy, but I'm not totally certain if he was '80s or '90s). Of course, that's only if you're not filing him with the Avengers. Are you?

ReplyDeleteOn the 5th or 6th paragraph (depending on how you count) on the third page of chapter one there is a type where it says "BIg Macintosh was a pony of incredible strength and stalwart courage" you just accidentaly capitilized the second leter in Big Mac's name.
