I'm guessing this one got split off too because it's FREAKING HUGE (and good reading) and also because the side-story post hasn't updated in forever and ever. Although fixing that might also have been an option.

I took a gamble, i was bored, nothing to do on a rainy day, gears was pissing me off, i decided, what the hay, lets read atleast one chapter of FO:E, next thing i know im at chapter 10 and im addicted.
It also make me want the next Fallout Game to come out.
I support this seth, a fic should seperate from a collection if its good, not if its the 'best' in the collection or even just really long.
I say if it can make it through the pre readers, it should get a seperate post.
This totally deserved to get its own post :D mainly because how different it is from all the other foe stuff :D

Fallout: Equestria - Toaster repairpony becomes a heroine whether she wants to or not. Epic scale.
Angst level of main character: Lesson Zero
Project Horizons - Dumbass Stable security guard gathers the most dysfunctional party this side of Farscape. More personal scale.
Angst level of main character: Party of One
Pink Eyes - Cute filly in advanced rad suit wakes up and goes to find her mother. Follows the reactions of the people around the main character.
Angst level of main character: Call of the Cutie
And yet they're all still recognisably pony-flavoured Fallout, with all the ghouls, monsters, radiation, robots, liars, guns, money, mercenaries, and normal folks getting by that implies.
This side-story is getting its own post because this side-story KICKS FLANK MOTHERBUCKER. Quit hatin!

WEll, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this. I LOOOOOVE FO:E and PH so seeing more Fallout is always a plus.
The description drew me in and before I know it, 3 hours are gone. It's definitely a well-written story and a nice change of pace considering it's from a filly's point of view! WAtcher didn't seem OOC at all and the Big 52 definitely feels like a slice of the Equestrian WAsteland.
5 stars, now gimme my next chapter. gimmegimmegimmegimme! :D
It is safe to say this story has me in tears throughout every chapter. It's jus too freaking sad, but diabetes incarnate at the same time.

Sorry for having replied so late, I was working with the editors, next chapter will be ready for wednesday, but if everything goes smoothly it could be also ready for saturday. I'll be at lucca comics and games from sunday to monday, so don't expect anything in those days.

Someone on Youtube printed and bound the entirety of "Past Sins". It's fairly thick.
If Fallout:Equestria was printed and bound as well...it would take several books. Or one giant paper brick like the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
It's good to know that there's still a chance for my yet-to-have-a-first-chapter side story.
Side note: I've never had this many Story tabs backed up on my iPod all at the same time...
FO:E is, as of chapter... 40(?), I think, over half a million words.
That's all four of the first Harry Potter books. And then some.
Add Project Horizons, and you can probably cover the next one and a half or two.

Incidentally, you're unlikely to find Kkat in the side story comments very often, since she isn't reading any of them until she finishes writing the main plot and would like to avoid spoilers. She is adorable...is she wearing a space suit. What a coincident the protagonist I am working on also wears a space suit. OK,so I wasn't the first to think of a protagonist that wears a space suit. This brony just got started we will just read his first chapter.
My reaction to seeing this is not your first chapter.
My God you destroy my would be fan fiction to pieces with a picture and a description. You are scary good. I mean you didn't just destroy the origin of my protagonist. You found a way to make readers care for your protagonist before they even hit the first chapter.It took two chapter for me to really feel for Lilpip and eight for Blackjack.
You did all of that and more with a picture and a description. I was having a hard time finding a way to make readers give a damn about my protagonist. Because it doesn't matter how good the character, dialogue, setting is if the readers lose interest half way through the first chapter. You gotta have them hook as soon as possible before they lose interest and simple move on. You even solve the space helmet problem.
I was beginning to question how in all of hell would my earth-pony protagonist was suppose to use a rechargeable pistol with a his space helmet on. The protagonist was suppose to be a unicorn but then I realize that both Lilpip and Blackjack are unicorn. So I change it to an earth-pony.

Damn you for making me change my fan-fiction. Ill try to give feedback and even take notes. Know if you excuse me I have to stop typing and actually read the damn thing.

This was Amazing. Seriously. Read all 13 chapters in one sitting. Nearly cried multiple times.
But you know, the thing that made me most sad, besides the 200 year crevasse between Puppy and her mother, was the presence of the Nightmare. Honestly, I can take flesh eating zombies, horrible de-ponyized raiders, evil Hal-like AIs bent on taking over the world etc without batting an eye. But to know that Puppy has the Nightmare in her? I actually got pissed at that stupid purple cloud. You leave her alone, Luna dammit.
This story is just so awesome. Can't wait for more. Keep up the good work.

The fanfics may have better character development, but that's just the advantage of the written word over a videgame.
I actually dislike how grimdark the fics are compared to the games, but that's not to say I don't love the fics with all my heart, the original and Project Horizons anyway, and possibly this one.
After reading 6 chapters, my reaction is that this is refreshing. Puppysmiles' naive attitude towards everything is a nice break from the angst-ridden hero complex that Littlepip and Blackjack suffer from (and wow it sounds really bad when I put it like that, but no insult was intended), and yet, it is even more tragic.
It's darkly humorous how Puppy goes from place to place searching for her mom and inadvertently fixing problems and saving ponies while not even fully grasping the true nature of the horrors she encounters.
Aaaah I finished all the chapters and now there are no more chapters and I need more!
But hey, by reading three FO:E stories I'll get updates 150% faster than before!
Ah, this is great. It's not really less dark than FoE, but Puppysmiles just refuses to understand that bad things are happening to her. That kind of denail of reality deserves props.
Definitely worthy to stand beside Horizons and Fallout: Equestria.

This story is a trap. I started reading a little before midnight, intending to do a chapter or two and go to bed.
The next thing I knew I was out of chapters (and had refreshed twice to make sure), looked out the window, and realized that it was daylight.
No regrets.
I just got through reading the latest chapter. I love Puppy not getting what was going on during the battle. When she started to realize the link to her mother... it was heartbreaking. Also, I appear to be developing a hatred for Robocolt.

Interesting. Puppysmiles seems to have tasked herself with the impossible, and is crushing anything that gets in her way, or points out the futility if her mission. This story sort of reminds me of "Falling Down".

AHA! There you are; been trying to get ahold of you to seek approval for my own side story concept. I wanted to chronicle (through a series of short stories) the adventures of Ditzy Doo in the time between the War and Fo:E. I dunno if everypony seeks your approval before trying a sidefic, but I wanted your blessing before getting started on the project, since I'd be playing around with your brainchild.
Now then, for this story. Ahem... CUTE! Puppy is almost too cute to exist in the FoE universe. The story is fairly well written, and (whether it meant to or not) is rather humorous. Black comedy at its finest, sometimes even straying into Dead Baby Humor, and yet it doesn't make you feel bad about laughing at it. It does this by counterbalancing the humor with real emotional reactions to the bad stuff going on, even if it is played for laughs. Kudos!

Rainy Days is an OC, I'm sorry for that but I really tried hard to not involve characters from other fics, so that the story doesn't ruin somepony's else canon or gets spoiled by that. Obviously you can just invent a close number of cool names for your characters, so itt's more than possible that a lot of ponies in the end will have names of other ponies.
I'm almost certain to have read a Rainy days pony that was responsible for weather control in a story where Celestia had her usual kingdom management issues.

See, I like to download and archive all of the stories I read, preferably as pdf (since I tend to read them on the train to/from work), but fimfiction, while showing full HTML markup, only has a .txt download function. This means that to properly save it, I have to save the actual web pages and then clean up the HTML code in them to get rid of the fimfiction layout around the story part.
As for the name "Rainy Days", I've looked around and didn't find any existing pony with the name :)
Sunny Skies / Sunny Day Skies (aka, Sunny Disguise) was used as alter ego for Celestia in some stories though :p
Anyway... I'm totally addicted to this story, and can't wait for the next part. I've tried some of the Fallout Equestria side stories, but in terms of quality, few come close to this (besides Project Horizons).
I love this story, I wish Puppy and Pip could meet, that would be so awesome!

Not really. It has some tragic moments, but they are mostly compensated by the fact the main character is totally oblivious to them 90% of the time. This does occasionally produce a brand of humour that's quite morbid though.
Besides that, there's the fact this is about a girl looking for her mother, who most probably died about 200 years before, which is rather tragic in its own.
But overall, the story is really upbeat, especially considering the fact the main character still tends to make friends with people after they shoot her on sight... through the head :p
Oh, there are also a number of AIs of varying levels of intelligence, craziness and malevolence involved in the story. Her conversations with them are hilarious.

My only complaint about this story is that I can not five star it twice.
I believe that if a story such as this one exceeds 4 stars, then it gets it's own post. This one got separated from the Fo:E Sidefic dump because of it's 5 star.

On EqD the side stories are all one post, so they don't have individual ratings. Seth broke Somber's Project Horizons away a few months ago because the author had written a bunch of 6 star stuff in the past and it was already past 50,000 words, but then swore that it would never happen again in order to avoid being swarmed with people trying to get their story broken away as well. Fortunately for us, Seth has a surprisingly low cuteness threshold and thus Puppy was able to convince him to break the rules.

Taint is the Impelled Metamorphosis Potion, the rainbow goop that makes alicorns when used properly and monsters/tumors when not. The Pink Cloud is a very powerful necromantic toxin thing; the Gardens might remove it as well but they've never been mentioned to. I believe that the Gardens, like the more localized Taint removal spell at Tenpony, will remove the sources of further corruption but not affect changes already made, but I don't think it's been specifically stated as such. Likewise I think it's been implied that ghouls require some amount of radiation to survive, so the total removal of radiation would probably cause them to gradually decay, but I can't find a place that's explicitly stated either. And of course Puppy isn't a normal ghoul; not only does her fusion with the suit mean that, if the stories about the Wild Herd are correct, she won't even be killed by the standard decapitation unless you simultaneously destroy all the suit's talismans, but her relationship with "creepy voice" seems to have given her Nightmare level power. I really have no idea whatsoever what will happen to her when the Gardens are activated.
Haven't read any of this, but was looking through the FOE comment page and heard it mentioned as one of the main three FO fics along with the original and PH. Got to this page and my thoughts proceeded along the lines of: huh, a bit pink for FO, but so cute! Looks interesting... "tags: silly protagonist". Alright this sounds really good, just look at the fanart... OMG SHE'S HUGGING A BLOATSPRITE! I MUST READ THIS NOW!

This will just be a fast message, sorry, no answers but in these days I'm doing a lot of xmas things
First of all, merry Chrismas or whatever you are celebrating, have a nice time with your families or your friends, I wish you well and hope all of you are happy.
Second, I'm sorry for the delay with the last chapter, but things got messy. It was too long and we had to split it in 2 separate chapters, that needed some more (a lot more) work. At the moment the status is: chapter 19 okay and under editing, expect somewhere during the winter break, as soon as it is edited (could take a while, so I'm not stating a day). Chapter 20 is written but needs work and will be out when it will be ready and clean. Afterwords are still inside the pencil, there is a general idea but I didn't write down anything so far.

This story left me hugging my Twilight plushie, Only Past Sins Chapter 10 (Original version) could do that to me at first. But the reason for it this time was Puppy finally finding her mommy rather than being taken away.

Oh my gosh, I just finished reading this. In short: Excellent!
Now as one of Kkat's proofreaders from the very beginning, I am a bit biased when I say that it is extremely unlikely any fanfic will ever top Fallout: Equestria. That said, Mimezinga didn't try to top it. Instead, he wrote a story in a completely different direction - the scale is much smaller and seldom aspires to anything 'epic', but what it does, it does with flair and gusto. The humor might not fit everyone, but I spent easily more than half of my time reading with anywhere from a slight smile to having to fight off outright laughter because I was in the quiet car of the commuter train. And then, out of nowhere, after pages and pages of humor and excitement, Mime will sometimes sucker punch you with a really poignant moment. The sadness never lasts though - how could it with one of the cutest protagonists I've ever met in a story meant for adults? And yes, this story is meant for adults, but it's fascinating to see the world through the eyes of a foal who refuses to give up her innocence.
It is my personal feeling that if you are at all interested in the mix of Fallout and ponies but are daunted by the size of Fallout: Equestria or Project Horizons, or you're worried about the grimdark, you need to read Pink Eyes. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not read Pink Eyes. It is good! Puppy promise!
