Luna goggles... That's the only excuse for this. Lesson Zero was amaaazing!
So far every single one of these episodes has been epic. Sibsy/Jayson/Lauren/Flashinthepan didn't lie when they said it would blow us away.
What kind of poll do you guys want to see next? Drop it in the comments. (Not my email box! :p)

shit if they woulda let me choose 2 it woulda been discord and luna. as for next poll.......... A POLL ABOUT WHAT THE NEXT POLL SHOULD BE ABOUT! GRATE SCOTT ITS GENIUS!
ReplyDeleteLuna goggles are best goggles. It's also one of those episodes that gets better every time I watch it. Besides, all the episodes thus far have been great. It's just that the latest one is the freshest in everyone's mind.
ReplyDeleteI liked luna, Im simply disapointed if this is the only time we see her.
ReplyDeleteBest Pony poll again, we shall see have things changed. Also one at the end of season 2.
I loved ALL the episodes! Each have had amazing moments. Some were emotional, like Twilight's emotional break when she cried at the loss of her friends and gave up, letting herself go grey. Some were memetastic, like deal with it shades, or chocolate rain, or the epic Star Wars ending. Some moments were powerful character moments, like Celestia's grand scenes at the end of Lesson Zero, or Luna trying so hard to maintain her royal mask of authority and power in Luna Eclipsed, when she just simply felt sadness and loneliness because nopony would give her a chance, or give her respect. There were epic moments of comedy in all 4 episodes.
ReplyDeleteWhat surprises me, is that people are so hostile to certain aspects of these 4 episodes.
People... You simply can not expect the diversity and overall variety of all of season one's 26 total episodes to reflect in a mere 4 episodes! I will admit it was a bummer Rarity was cut from Luna's episode, but we understand why. Poor Tabitha needs a voice left for the next episode! :)
We can't expect every episode to dedicate unlimited resources to every character, go into in depth character development, or never deviate from a perfect model. It IS a cartoon.
Many episodes didn't even feature all the ponies. Why should we even expect a mere four episodes to live to such unrealistic standards? We saw Twilight go nuts, we've seen nearly every other major character suffer a major character defect. Heck, even PRINCESS LUNA was been shown to be so socially backwards and stuck in the past that she SCARED the very ponies she tried to befriend!
In regards to Twilight's behavior
vvv
Twilight has shown a persistent and unrealistic fear of disappointing her mentor and teacher. Twilight really does love Celestia, but is likewise terrified of disappointing her. She has been shown to repeatedly imagine worst case scenarios, and exhibit utterly unrealistic fears of imagined consequences. Parasprites carting Celestia off, and "Banish you, then throw you in a dungeon in the place where she banished you to" ring any bells. It's utter insanity, but she continues to exhibit such behavior. Celestia makes it clear such an absurd idea is not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteI still see this behavior as being a persistent annoyance to Celestia, possibly something that might even be hurtful. I still stand by my analysis of the end of Lesson Zero, and the entire series as a whole. Celestia was outspoken against Discord, but in Lesson Zero, her words were SO POWERFULLY BLUNT. "TWILIGHT SPARKLE, MEET ME IN THE LIBRARY". This was followed by what I felt was THE MOST emotional scene in the entire series. There was disappointment bleeding from Celestia's words. I really think that Twilights behavior really truly hurt Celestia deep down inside. Celestia loves Twilight like a child, and Twilight obviously loves Celestia as both a mentor and teacher, and quite possibly even as a surrogate motherly figure to a degree. They should have faith in each other, and be able to trust in one another, but Twilight fails time and time again at expressing this. It's probably part of her lack of social development, to a degree.
Twilight's friends are willing to stand up for her, and realize that they ignored their friend's problem. I mean, they LAUGHED at her. They finally saw just how afraid Twilight was, and just HOW seriously she was taking it... They've also never seen Celestia react in that manner to Twilight. Heck, the last time she remotely raised her voice in that manner was against DISCORD. For once, they may have truly feared that Celestia might have a real punishment planned for Twilight. They showed that, while Celestia is their ruler, that she is also a pony that can be spoken to, reasoned with, and is not so far above every other pony as to be unapproachable. Besides, they bowed to her when she first appeared! ;D
Celestia played her cards, and ultimately got all 6 ponies in on the personal correspondence. I really think that if that wasn't her ultimate goal in the whole mess, that she at least took advantage of the opportunity. She is putting out her hoof in friendship, trying to open up to these 6 ponies, and hoping they will open up to her.
To me, this scene did more to develop Celestia as a character than all of season 1 ever did, and I found it to be a beautiful ending to a very funny and chaotic episode.
Ultimately, I had a hard time choosing between any of the episodes. I feel, like some, that the two parter should have been treated as a single episode in the poll. It truly is a singular story line, split down the middle. Lesson Zero may have been a Twilight episode, but it developed her mentor most of all. Luna Eclipsed... Well, it was simply epic! It had Luna, it had a crazy festival, it had the return of Zecora, it had wonderfully executed comedy.
I voted for Luna Eclipsed, because I saw a MASTERFUL display of a pained character, hiding behind a mask of pomp and power, suffering alone, and just wanting to make some friends. She was finally able to break free of her outdated mask by episode end, and I have to admit, the subtlety took a few viewing to hit me like a ton of brix. I saw it right away, but there was "episode shock" from the epicness of it! :D
I had to wake up from that shock to really soak in the awesomeness of it.
If I voted again in a few months, don't know. I might choose Lesson Zero, or Luna Eclipsed. I really don't know. These two episodes, for me, where character building episodes for the two Princesses of Equestria.
Final choice for this poll...
Yes, yes, yes...
...
Yes.
"Besides, they bowed to her when she first appeared! ;D"
ReplyDeleteNOT
LOL! I wuz totally wrong there!
I just re watched that scene AGAIN, and my joke suffered a chronic facehoof level epic fail! LOL!
They were actually in "dumbfounded stare" mode instead, my bad. Still, they showed great strength standing up for their friend, and were not demeaning their ruler. They offered THEMSELVES up for any punishment to be doled out. This is not an act of defiance against Celestia, but an act of compassion for a friend they felt they had dishonored, and an act of humility and of taking personal responsibility.
LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteCelestia was totally gonna do this to Twilight till her friends intervened and stopped her!

Actually, this is for a custom Shine Brite Luna. Hasbro was to lame to make BOTH her wings AND horn glow. I'm fixing that problem. I figured other customizers might be interested in the tear down.
I know Celestia would never ACTUALLY do this to Twilight... It's joke! Those two care about each other too much.
FOR SCIENCE!!!
The next poll should be what people think the plural of Pegasus is.
