IN CANTERLOT CASTLE
That's totally season two episode one (According to the numbers in the direct link:

Two twilights in the same panel? TWILIGHT REMEMBERS SHE CAN TELEPORT. That kind of annoyed me in the first season. She used it a few times then forgot she could do it. Granted, using it would have broken a few episodes but they could have done something with it.
ReplyDeleteA few people have mentioned the stain glass window of the mane 6 but has anyone checked out the third one on the left? It looks a bit like the Cutie Mark Crusaders......being used as puppets. That can't be good.

I'm really hoping that those window paintings is both historytelling and foreshadowing *wants Discord to take controll of the CMC to sabotage the Mane 6's work*

EVERYPONY! Look at the stained glass windown on the sides of the first picture! It's someone using string-puppets shaped like ponies, Nightmare being defeated by a dragon, and NIghtmare being defeated by the Mane-6! There is also a green-looking one I could not see clearly!

There are some interesting things going on in that picture when you look at the background. What caught my eye is on the right side of the frame. Look at the stained glass window...its the Mane 6 defeating Nightmare Moon. All of the others but one seem to feature dragons in some way, which is interesting.
Discord may be some kind of dragon. Now, I know there was that alicorn picture that was put out, but I'm just working on the stained glass in the background. The window that is right above Fluttershy's head...its the the yin-yang of Luna and Celestia, but with an Eastern Dragon trapped in the middle. Either that, or the dragon is breaking free. If nothing else, they may play some kind of role.
The other window that really catches my attention is the one that Rainbow Dash so rudely obscured with her head. A yellow Pegasus, a white-ish Unicorn, and an orange Earth Pony. Like I said, Dash is blocking the rest of it with her face, but you can see what looks like a Griffon or Dragon's talons manipulating the three. They are hooked to strings like puppets.
I think I can tell you those AREN'T the CMC. They ARE however the three types of ponies - unicorn, pegasus and earth.
ReplyDeleteJust on another thought if Celestia and Luna did create Discord - then if he was their first creation - it would explain why he is a bit of everything la Frankenstein. First works tend to be all over the place.
All I could think of when I saw the picture behind Rainbow Dash was "Dance, puppets, dance!"

ReplyDeleteLooks like the first episode will take place mostly in the castle. Really looking forward to it, I always liked the architecture in Canterlot.
The third image is the start of a final boss in an RPG.

ReplyDeleteI don't have the time to skim through every single theory or explanation on this comment list...but has anypony pointed out that that Dragon Creature is most likely Discord?
Discord, by definition: "Disagreement between people"
Now, Look at the window on the left-hand side middle. it's the best picture of the dragon we can see. Look at it's body, specifically, its limbs and head.
- Its bottom 2 legs are a hoof and a dragons.
- Its top 2 legs are gryphon and some other random creatures.
- Its tail completely changes color at the base, suggesting this is the tail of another different creature all together.
- Most importantly: It has little wings like a pegasus and a very jagged Unicorn Horn jutting from the back of its head, along with what APPEARS to be a 2nd horn like that of a Deer's.
THIS, fillies and gentlecolts, is clearly our villain. The mysterious Discord. Born of so much conflict that even his body argues with itself.
Dunno about y'all, but I'm hella excited to see what's in store now.

ReplyDeleteMy interpretation of the images: Discord is a Chimera who is capable of manipulating others. Luna and Celestia sealed him away in stone.
ReplyDeleteIn season 2 he breaks free and attempts to manipulate the mane 6 into breaking their bonds with one another.
OH GAWD!!! I'm already having a hard enough time waiting, these pictures tease me so! That first one is just BURSTING with detail, the stained glass windows are freakin sweet. I love the one with the mane 6 defeating Nightmare Moon, so awesome!

Alright, at least now we know Discord is going to be played straight as a villain.

Is anyone else really bugged by all the ridiculous errors in the architecture of the room in the first screen shot?
ReplyDeleteThe more I look at it the more mistakes I see.
For example:
There are flagpoles floating in midair, the carpet design is coming off of the carpet, the pillars aren't connected to anything, windows coming out of the wall, the bottoms of some of the windows are crooked, and a lot more.
The upper right hand corner of the screenshot is particularly dense with these mistakes.
This makes me wonder how many other scenes from the show look this ridiculous when viewed with a critical eye.
Don't get me wrong I love the screen shot, it's the most awesome season 2 related thing so far imo; it just seems strange that the very detailed and awesome stained glass windows are contrasted so strongly by the strange MC Escher architecture.
Maybe they could justify it by being Discord's fault, that he is manipulating the architecture to make it look like really weird, but it seems too subtle to be a story element, I really doubt the target demographic of little girls is going to be thinking
"Oooh the windows aren't following the rules of perspective, some weird stuff is going on, Discord is a baaaad chimaera!"
Maybe it's a manifestation of discord that only artists, graphic designers, schizophrenics etc. are supposed to pick up on? That would be awesome but it seems to good to be true.
What do you think? Have I been staring at this screen shot too long?

So Discord might be a serpentine chimera dragon... Interesting. All the full-grown dragons in this episode, aside from Steven Magnet, were pretty goddamn ferocious, especially when angered. Add to that the fact that he looks particularly demented to begin with, and his name is DISCORD, implying that he has the ability to cause all sorts of chaos and/or destruction, and he has the potential to be a very badass villain.

@Coke and Cola Chill out man, they looked like that in season 1 as well (like Rainbow Dash when saying "I'm trying to save Spike") so it's probably a matter of pose and angle - sometimes it's just difficult to draw realistic butts. You really think they would waste the time redesigning all the characters in the show just because suddenly their rumps became a problem?
