I have to admit, I really like this interpretation of Discord. I'm dying to see what he's really like. The name alone makes him sound like a badass though.

@moocow1452 Personally I think of the classical devil archetype, if by that you mean the kind of villain who doesn't attack your mind or your body but tries to break your spirit.

I ask because after a reading the summary, I wrote a flashfic about my impressions of him (too short for ED) and pulled him off as a sort of a Doctor-deconstructed character. He runs around causing mayhem and bickering when completely unfettered and blasts Celestia for having more control than what he deems necessary over Equestria, but genuinely wants the best for his little ponies, and if he had his way, he would let the world run itself and teach it lessons the hard way rather than saying to not do this or that because, as that's the way he rolls.
I see what you did there. Very cleaver, never thought about what the statue was for? If this turns out to be an accurate prediction I can see Hasbro having a fit trying to find out who leaked the information.
I am now stupidly over-hyped for season 2 of these brilliant little equines (more so than before), and it was achieved without spoilers. I feel I need to offer some congratulations.
sick... I like how the Elements of Discord aren't polar opposites to the elements of harmony. Just makes it that much scarier. And I agree with the message as well, when you see these elements creep into your life, you feel this discord between people and yourself. I like this.
I liked the effects and such even though it was pretty obviously edited. The dialogue between Luna and 'Tia was rather interesting as well.
Though again, I hope everyone realizes that A: this is unofficial, and we have yet to see what Discord is actually like, and B: someone, someday, is gonna write a fic shipping Discord with one of the princesses.
My guess (hope) is that Discord will be Affably Evil ( http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AffablyEvil ) and if he ends up sticking around for longer than the first two episodes, there will be some Go Karting With Discord ( http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GoKartingWithBowser ) involved. :D
Still, I'ma wait and see what the team does, and I'll probably like it regardless!

And to all those that are hoping for a bad-ass, psycho Discord, I want to remember one of my favorite quotes: "Stories don't need to tell children that monsters exist. Children already know this. Stories need to tell children that monsters can be defeated." I think that we've already see this a bit in the season one opener, so I'm hopeful as well.
I'm plenty okay with a bad-ass Discord, but he needs to have an off switch to him when he's not evil. Sort of like Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb, he's a nice guy to have a coffee with, but he's still plenty evil when he's on the clock. If anything, I'd bump him up to a credible threat when he's in the zone, and not over use that, but I'm not a writer. Gotta trust Faust and Friends on this one.
Now this is a proper Discord, one who doesn't need an opposing group to represent his Elements but can twist the Mane 6 into representing them for him.
@PaladinDrakkenwolf My version of Discord probably wouldn't consider Magic to be a real element, seeing Friendship as a crutch and using it to exploit weakness. That would be how to win is proving him wrong... as cliche as that sounds. Thankfully, I'm not writing the episode.

Discord... it's some sort of demon/bad guy-creature of some sort, that ''sows'' discord in the mind/heart of people/ponies.
With that in mind now, think about what happened to Luna, which became Nightmare Moon... ... ...Yeah ! I'm starting to be quite sure that this ''Discord'' is responsible, at least partially, for Luna's transformation all those years ago !
And, even the description of the word seem to indicate this, both the 'reason' being a being named ''Discord'' and his possible implication in Luna's previous fate.
Discord: a : lack of agreement or harmony (as between persons, things, or ideas) b : active quarreling or conflict resulting from discord among persons or factions
@Nova25 I completely agree. The negative feelings are theirs, and Discord has a way of subtly or not so subtly nudging somepony toward either emotional meltdown or a complete distrust in those close to him through cultivation of those feelings.
This could easily be applied to Luna and I could see them going in that direction. Although, I didn't give them that history in my trailer since I was afraid that it would distract from the main point... and I didn't want to commit to something that could easily end up being completely wrong. Still, she's obviously scared of him so... maybe there's a little in there after all?
