• New York City Brony Meetup

If you look over on the June/July Meetup post, you will see a New York City meetup in the number one position.  That is actually the second one, and this is a writeup of the one they did last month.  I'm not sure if they are planning to make this an annual monthly thing, but it's still definitely awesome that it was such a huge success.  I think most of us are afraid a meetup would be an akward experience, but apparently it wasn't.

Jimbo did a huge writeup about it.  So if you are interested in attending the next one, or any meetup at all for that matter, you might want to check this out!

    5. Be there or be a square pony! June 25. Accommodations for a limited number of out-of-towners are available. (Last time, I had 4-5 sleepovers. It was like a brony dorm!)

    6. I'm almost positive Tinker said it might be annual.

      but who knows XD

    7. Oh no, it's definitely going to be more than annual.

For the moment, we're keeping up monthly meets. Maybe we'll slow down to every-other-month eventually. For now, this is way too much fun to stop. :)

    8. The write-up was great.

One of these times it would be cool to attend something like this.

    10. I'm definitely one of those people who would find a meetup awkward and a little scary since it would just be me going alone :( The sad part of this is I'm an LI bronette and live an hour out of the city. I don't think my parents would like the idea of me going to a meetup by myself(and I'm 20 yrs old for god sake). Hopefully, that'll change for me soon...I hope...

    11. Man I wish there was a Texas meetup, anyways hope you guys had fun!

    12. Aww, don't be scared. I was a little afraid of awkwardness too. But y'know what? We're all a little timid by nature, but once we got in a room together, everypony had a great time! Plus, I'm such a chatterbox (read: "loudmouth") that I'm good at keeping conversations going. :)

Check out this group shot from last time: http://purpletinker.deviantart.com/art/Bronies-NYC-Meetup-Group-Shot-210768416

BTW, you would not be the only bronette, not by a long shot. Check out all the fillies in that picture! And I am of the filly persuasion myself. :)

You'll really be missing out on some great stuff if you can't come... please join us? It'll be SHO AWESHUM. :)

Heh, thanks for the encouragement :)
I'm just an extremely shy person whom socializing isn't her best talent, something I need/will overcome in time. I'm a Fluttershy! lol, guess that's why she's my favorite pony. Will see what happens ;) - LI Bronette

    14. I was always super shy too. :) I was always the nerdiest kid in school and was terrified of social situations. Imagine my surprise to find myself the Pinkie Pie of the New York City brony community!

    15. This gathering will have plenty of opportunities for shy people, though. Heck, most of us qualify as "shy people" :)

    16. Win :)

I so wish I were closer so I could come to every meet! It was an awesome event.

    17. LI, no better time to learn how to be more assertive than this month's BroNYCon! Everypony finds meeting strange internet people in person awkward at first; that common awkwardness is a pretty good icebreaker.

    18. Oh guys you sure know how to get high with pure joy! I´ve only had two ony mettings with my friends and there was booze involved. Very fun and all, but I´m a bit jelous of you, having all that fun whitout exposing your health, well, maybe with the sugar hahaha

    19. These meetups sound like a lot fun. I'm in NYC, what do I need to do to get in on this?

      ReplyDelete
    20. It's to bad that there don't seem to be any bronies in my area other than my group of friends, I'd love to have a meetup.

Also, why AJ no in that picture?

      ReplyDelete
    21. I think where is Applejack ? Eh I want meetup in Poland ; ) But we don't have much brony : (

    22. I live in another part of the world :(

    23. NYC is a crazy place... I love it. I can't help but feel that I would have gone if they'd met up at the union square farmer's market. We could have eaten boiled emu eggs and NUTS4NUTS whilst listening to the union square rambler, if his insanity hasn't taken a turn for the worst. Also, the pizza place should have been Patsy's.

      ReplyDelete
    24. B-b-but... where's Applejack in that pic :(??

And also, are there actually any UK brony meetups?

      ReplyDelete
    25. Is it bad from me to consider traveling half the world just for this even tho' I don't have enough money to move away from my parents yet? (althought I'm only 20 and still studying so that explains it a bit.)

But I would love to attend to an event like this! For me it's harder to discuss via internet than in person, so my connection with this awesome community is non-existant. And I would love to get in touch with you people. With WE people. :)

A lot of ranting goes a long way
So perhaps I'll be there one day.

    26. Hmm.. I'm actually close enough to the city to go (In NJ) but I'm totally not a city person and I know nothing about taking trains into and around the city. Too bad the city isn't car friendly.

    27. @Adamaster

Let me know if Toronto does. I'm in Ottawa, but I can probably make the trip...

    29. The next meetup is on June 25. If you want to go, join our group at http://www.meetup.com/Bronies-NYC/ ... If you are in New Jersey and not sure how to navigate the train system, fret not! Email prpltnkr @ gmail.com and I will help you! I'm great at navigating NJ Transit.

      ReplyDelete
    30. @Anonymous I'll be coming in on the train from New Haven, I could meet you at Grand Central Station and help you navigate the subway so you're less intimidated (also you can help carry cupcake supplies).

yingkaixing@yahoo.com, drop me a line if you want ^_^

    31. This is gonna be SHO AWESHUM! If you're going to the NYC meetup on June 25, be sure to join at http://www.meetup.com/Bronies-NYC/ and RSVP! If you'll be paying at the door, email me (prpltnkr @ gmail.com) and I'll manually RSVP you.

    32. Oh man. Besides the whole Bronies thing, I am so jealous of the Magnolia cupcakes! I miss them!

    33. Hey all you 'Fluttershys'!
Don't be nervous about attending this thing. You should come! This is one event where you won't feel freaked out about being around people. We are a great bunch of non-judgmental folks who all are nuts about FiM. We are pony people... We are students, we are teachers, we are artists and we are professionals from all walks of life. Purple Tinker is a love, if she says she'll take care of you, she will!

I'm one of the super-shy fans who came to the May meetup and had a blast. You will too, from the looks of it this June meet is looking to be epic WIN ;)
