Art: Crazy Good Customs

Holy crap these rock.  It's a shame the state of toys these days wouldn't allow something so intricate to be mass produced.  Or it's a shame we haven't thought of cost effective ways to mass produce stuff like this at least.

Or maybe we have, and Hasbro is just lazy.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt this time.

You can find the Deviant Art for these below

And then I realized I was amazed at ponies in dresses.  CONFOUND THESE PONIES!

was gonna say something but i figured this was already sent in. im guessing we'll get good pony's from conventions/mod forums. hasbro might detail um up a bit but unless the show skyrockets in sales i don't think they'll worry to much about figures

I dug through all the comments on Faust's dA page, she was saying Hasbro preferred toys that could be mass produced easily since it minimized the otherwise exorbitant retooling and production costs - the best way they can guarantee demand (and thus a profit) is to favor pink and easily-altered toys. Kinda figured that was the reason AJ never has a hat...

>>Must say, I lol'd. On my end I'm listening to hard rock and browsing ponies, the absurdity never ceases

These are absolutely wonderful. Makes me wish I still had the time to do toy and model conversions...

Also, so glad we have some new happyfun posts, to counteract the depressing ones from earlier.

(really hope the series finale is the gala, and they all get to wear their dresses again)

There are companies that produce toys that look this good (and better); but unfortunately Hasbro isn't one of them, lol. At least, not 99.999% of the time... they've released some good high-quality Transformers collectible figures; but those are collectibles rather than toys to play with.

I'm sure the day will come when 3d printers will be in every home. Then all it would take is somebody to put a design on the Internet and we can all download it and print it out ourselves.

Oh wait, when that happens I guess Hasbro won't make any money anymore and won't be able to fund MLP:FiM.

Confound these ponies for making me feel so conflicted about technology now!

I'm wanting to mod a pony of my own...

This is gonna sound kind of bad, but does anyone know how to take their heads off? <_< GENTLY, so they can be put back on and still turn? Or is that not possible?

I'd like to see this done with the '20% Cooler' Rainbow Dash outfit.
