Miscellaneous Instrumental music time! We have Scootaloo, some Fluttershy Dubstep, and some Octavia to finish it off!
When I say "instrumenetal", I mean "Isn't a remix or custom vocal song (with lyrics), but still feels pony". Oddly enough the musicians in the pre-listener group seem fine with it. Hope that clarifies everything. We might need a different name for them though, instrumental is a bit misleading.

ReplyDeleteAs far as the name goes, if it's dedicated to pony, then it's pony music, right? My friend Jelfes has a slight problem with that, though.
I agree that songs with actual pony bits or remixes are more pony than songs that are just dedicated to ponies, such as instrumentals. Therefore, how about we call it "music" and "pony music"? Instrumental is fine by me, and i'm sure that there are better options than what I just listed, but hey, if it looks like a pony and sounds like a pony, then it's probably a pony.

ReplyDeleteI thought they were all pretty good, I liked the 3rd one a lot. Wasn't expecting the 2nd one to just change like that though. Found that rather interesting and cool, so I liked that one too.
ReplyDeleteThese are always very interesting to listen to. Of the three, I seemed to enjoy #2 the most. Loved the changes between relatively tranquil to completely losing it.
ReplyDeleteI do like this "Instrumental" catagory, it feels less jarring and I can write to it without having random pony lines shoved at me.

Instrumenals are my favorite. Possibly because I grew up loving video game soundtracks. Not a whole lot of vocals in those things!
ReplyDeletePlus, I can listen to it while studying (as I'm doing now.) without having my brain distracted translating the lyrics.
I think that it should be Pony Inspired Music, not Instrumental, but that's just my opinion :) I liked #2 a lot, I liked the switches troughout the tune :)

No real clear sound sadly. pace set after the first change was good but needed a bit more

reminds me of the old retro computer games i used to play. good mix of strings and drum and bass with the vocals well placed
I'd rather listen to the instrumental posts than the vocal posts. A couple of remixes are good, but this is where the real talent usually hides.
ReplyDeleteFor a while I've dubbed original pieces of music dedicated to the Ponyverse 'Pony Inspired'. It's very much pony at heart and wouldn't have been created without the ponies to inspire it so I still feel all these tracks do share in the pony connection even if it doesn't always feel like that.

The batch today was excellent! Awesome pieces of music indeed. The brony fandom never ceases to amaze me.

ReplyDeleteHow about we just go back to calling it music. There's no need to differentiate between the types of music. I'm perfectly happy with the music that gets posted to EQD, even if it doesn't always have mlp related lyrics or samples from the show.
This fandom is noted for its creativity, that creativity should be celebrated in whichever way it manifests itself, not just the conventional ways.
