#7) Magic comes in handy when you're too broke and homeless to go to the movies. Lion King's one of my favorites.
#9) Rarity as Red Mage makes total sense, but all I see in this pic is Rarity Sandiego. Fantastic!
#13) Zecorapatra, completely love it. In jewels that place her all above it.
#17) A very dynamic shot of Tardis in motion; the good Doctor should be getting more spotlight.

ReplyDelete#1 Wow, that's a really gorgeous pic. Colors, Shades, lighting, they're all really good. If that's what Equestria looks like, now I want to be there even more. I really like Luna in this. Her coloring looks so nice and smooth. Especially her mane. Yes, I really like her mane!
#2 Uh-oh, more REA Spitfire here to seduce us into joining. Jeez, if you haven't joined already, it seems Spitfire is willing to pull out all the stops to get you to do so. I know it's becoming harder to resist the urge to join. Yes, there is a bad joke in there.
#5 What an awesome Birthday present for sure. I really like the more simplistic side shot perspective and pose on this. And the clean lines and strong flat colors. Looks really good. I'm sure they will be thrilled.
#7 Trixie is summoning a bunch of spiritual animals it seems. I wonder if she could summon Ursa's this way too...
#8-10 These are all pretty cool. I'm not a huge Final Fantasy fan really, but I think they all look pretty kickass in the outfits. Though I will admit... I thought Rarity was Carmen Sandiego at first. Please don't hurt me!
#11 Derpy as a blacksmith? Why do I have the feeling this can't end well? lol I was a great blacksmith, but then I took an arrow to the knee. I'm sorry, I'm sorry! But at least it looks like she's making enough crappy iron daggers to supply at least 10 villages. :P
#13 Wow, that Zecora outfit is beautiful. Really fancy. I think this outfit would make even Rarity green with envy. I wonder if this would be something akin to her Gala attire. I could see that. Very nice clothing and jewelry design with this.

#17 Dat description. Quite the awesome Dr Whoof image. Lot of stuff happening and things to look at. I feel kinda bad because one of the things I noticed first was... Rarity's plot. lol But that made me notice something odd: why do her legs seem to be going through the side of the TARDIS? Anyway, it's a great pic. I also love care-free Pinkie just riding on top of the TARDIS, having the time of her life. Get it? Time? Dr. Whoof? Yeah, I'm not great at jokes, sorry.
#18 Does something this badass and awesome even need explaining? I like the little Cutie Mark Crusader logo on the back wing, nice small touch.
#20 Really love this one. It's simple, but it has a strong emotional feel behind it. And I simply love how the artist portrayed her wings.

ReplyDelete1) Beautiful work. I love these kinds of scenes with full background and various details to look at. I don't know what Angel is up to, but I don't trust that bunny one bit. I still need to see a scene with Rarity, Zecora, Luna and the Mayor all together. We came so close with Luna Eclipsed.
2) It's amazing how much a little context shift can make. Spitfire is pretty awesome... I'm convinced Dash has a way to go to match her.
3) What a gorgeous Luna image. Just beautifully done.
4) A very cute Twilight in an original style. I like it.
5) Dash is looking pretty svelte and epic. I always like Cloudsdale as a background too.
6) Nyx needs to take better care of reading material! Still, that's a truly impressive painting and very dynamic. I wonder if people will eventually start giving her star-field hair like Luna and NNM.
7) Trixie grows in power. Soon she shall have her revenge. Soon.
8) Twilight's hat has nothing on Trixie's. Needs some stars or something. I'm sure Rarity could spice it up some.

14) This is exactly the kind of "shipping/friendshipping" image that I think Jody was talking about yesterday. It's cute, and you're welcome to read as much into it individually as you like. I quite like this one.

16) That's got to be a serious wind to shake that hat off of her head. I think the brim has a deathgrip on her, usually. Nicely rendered.

ReplyDelete#2 is, I believe, a new image. It's similar to a prior REA Spitfire pin-up that had a much more suggestive slogan, though, which made it a little too saucy for use on the front page.

in source #18 The SR-71 Blackbird is the fastest aircraft that can be launched from the ground. They have planes that are a lot faster, but they must be launched in mid-air from a converted

ReplyDeleteBrian McPherson did a couple of "recruiting posters" featuring Spitfire, and Spitshy has followed with three more, of which #2 is the latest; they're similar enough that if you haven't seen one in a while, I can understand how you'd think the newest one is a repeat.

ReplyDelete1. Now there's a pair you don't see everyday. I wouldn't mind seeing this two interact on the show a bit more, just because they're both fascinating but rarely get much screentime. In particular, I enjoy the use of colors and the feeling this piece has of being a quality painting I'd like to hang up on my wall.
2. I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate. Also, no, Spitfire, no matter how you act, I won't be joining the REA.
3. Seems to have some unnecessary blank space near the bottom, but other than that it's a great picture of Luna.
4. A wonderful picture of Twilight, though it's definitely a different take on the design than the traditional art style.
5. Yes! This is the majesty that should be Pegasus wings all day erry day.
6. I don't recognize the character or the setting...I see Twilight in the background, but the lack of context confuses me. Though that said, if the look on their faces and the shredded state of the book is any indication, something is seriously wrong...
7. That's a neat new trick, Trixie. I just hope you aren't planning on using them to attack anypony.
8. Twilight with a magician's hat looks cute.
9. Now, my first thought here was Carmen Sandirarity, but apparently she's supposed to be a red mage. Either way, it's a great look for our lovely lady.
10. Pinkie's workin' those hooves. Nice amusing action pose.
11. Well she's certainly produced a lot of daggers, at least, though how useful they are in terms of design for ponies, I'm not so sure...
12. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be Littlepip, since that appears to be Little Machintosh she's holding, amongst other weaponry. As before, the Pipbuck is on the wrong leg, but otherwise it's a neat little action pose, although she might be trying to wield too many weapons at once.
13. Zecora looks lovely in this jewelery...although at first I thought one of them was supposed to be an Element of Harmony, something that sent up a red flag in my mind since that didn't seem to be quite right.
14. Twilight fell asleep on her books and Applejack is seeing to it that she sleeps well. D'awww.
15. A great sepia-tone sketch of two of the CMCs. Interesting how fascinated they are by the apple...I wonder why?
16. This problem is probably rather common for poor Applejack...must be much harder trying to wear hats as an Earth Pony, since you can't exactly use magic to catch it and you don't have hands.
17. Speaking of paintings I'd love to put on a wall...while there does seem to be something odd with Rarity's legs(she's clipping through the police box) it's a fantastic drawing. The use of color, the angle, the action poses, the way Pinkie is so calm while everyone else is scared out of their wits...it's perfect.
18. You go, Rainbow Dash! Outrace those human-made flying machines! Show us humans why we can't ever take the skies away from the Pegasi!
...I feel as though I'm biased in the wrong direction here...
19. Fluttershy is, as always, adorable.
20. Now THAT'S how you do a subtle drawing. Spectacular the way it engenders feelings in the viewer despite its simplicity. I especially adore the way the wings are merely drawn lines implying their presence.
It is probably wishful thinking, but I hope that #6 gets made into a a new Nyx fic.

ReplyDelete#6 features Nyx, the main character of a popular fan fiction named "Past Sins". Essentially, she's the product of a cult using a spell to try and resurrect Nightmare Moon independent from Luna. The spell gets interrupted, and she comes into the world as a young filly with no memories of her past self. Twilight is the one to find her and take her in, keeping her origin a secret for fear of what would happen to her if it was thought that Nightmare Moon had been reborn.

Torn between #17 and #18... I'm a massive fan of The Doctor (plus the pic is just awesome), but #18 is just gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteAnd for those who don't get 11, it's a running joke on how easy blacksmithing is in Skyrim. Since all items give the same amount of XP (bug or really bad game design), Derpy is capable of crafting the most basic level item in the game and get to master blacksmith easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

ReplyDeleteNevermind that winged flight in outerspace is impossible. You're pretty much constantly at stall speed. The Blackbird has the advantage of its massive ramjets and relatively short wings. It's the only jet fighter throughout history capable of outrunning a missile.
