There are just two days away from the big revealing of Luna's true personality! Knowing the FiM team, her characterization will be epic, but for the sake of fun, what do YOU want her personality type to be like? We have seen numerous renditions of the princess of the moon, from lonely outcast, to a prankster that would rival even the Great and Powerful Pinkie Pie. The possibilities really are endless.

Honestly, I don't really have any.
ReplyDeleteI expect only that I will greatly enjoy the episode, and cringe at the ensuing wank.
ReplyDeleteWell I for one hope she's as attractive as always and I hope that shes gonna be giggly like a filly but at the same time like a strong individual like one of the mane 6. All I know is that how ever she is I'll be over joyed cuz she's my favorite pony of all of them!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI sorta envision her as a recluse, even if she doesn't really like that she is. That would tie into why she opposed her sister to begin with, and why we haven't seen her at all until now. Maybe similar to Twilight in her approach to magic studies, but insanely disorganized?
ReplyDeleteThat could be entertaining, but I have no idea. As long as she isn't a Mary Sue.
She'll be nice but nervous. But not as nervous as the ponies are to be around her. She'll probably try hard to something good but that will have unexpected consequences.
ReplyDeleteI'm reallllyyyy hoping that she's like Luna from "Progress". Akward zany Luna is best Luna.
ReplyDeleteConsidering there is a great chance that Luna's character may not be what others hope for, my personal hope, is that Luna's character starts small (someone seeking redemption and friends), and as the series develops, that her character grows into a more diverse character.
ReplyDeleteKeen, considerate, resourceful, if not graceful to work with. She needs to compliment the 6 ponies. She's innocent in the presence of Pinkie Pie, she's awe-inspired by Dash and her ambitions, she's on par with Twilight Sparkle, and so on.
I don't expect TOO much right off the bat, but seeing that Luna is a blank slate, the screenwriters (which is something I wish to become mind you, I'm attending Full Sail U. for such a task) are presented with a great opportunity to create their "baby" and become "parents" as the fans see her grow as a character.
Shy, reserved, and brutally logical
ReplyDeleteBasically the way she had been portrayed in "progress"
I'd like it if she were very eccentric, but not on the level Pinkie Pie is. For instance, she still makes references to things from a thousand years ago, like how old people like to compare things from decades ago.
ReplyDeleteExpectations? None whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteWant and anticipation for this episode? Infinite.
I have personally never read any Luna fanfics (despite my being an author of such) for no other reason than that I just don't read fanfic much.
From my perspective as a fanfic author, I'm really not worried about what her personality will end up being. So far, Luna has been in one out of five chapters of my fic. I can always tweak later chapters to better fit her if I end up needing to.(With that said, if I DID end up guessing her personality correctly, I will "squee" until my head explodes.)
Luna's canon personality will be whatever the FiM team deems most appropriate, and I trust them completely.
To be honest, I'm more excited to see whether or not her new design is permanent.
Like Fluttershy and always blushing
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling I speak what's on a lot of authors' minds when I say:
ReplyDeleteAnything's good, just please oh please don't let it discredit my fanfiction.
I expect her to be a prankster and a bit more mature.
ReplyDelete@Blue Ace
ReplyDeleteAnd my response to that philosophy is: if your expectations are low, then all you'll get is crap. Have fun hiding from life.
@joetraincool
But Discord and I do!! I love sh*tstorms!! They're exceedingly entertaining, it's like getting fondue for dessert after a gourmet meal! Just sit back and enjoy the chaos...
@EvenMotion
You and me both, bro! I do hope that whatever it is, it doesn't affect your story too much =/
That'd suck.
@Eeveexpert
Finally!!! A writer with his head screwed on straight! Thank you for not whining about your fic getting screwed by canon, I've gotten SO tired of hearing it.
@Pinkie Pie
Name one other pony who's managed to (repeatedly) break the fourth wall like you have (Spike is not a pony, btw).
...
I rest my case.
And to the rest of you ponies: know that I shall be watching you on the thread this Saturday from the comfort of a big, fluffy, chocolate-milk-rain-filled cloud, with a big bag of popcorn and my homies Discord and SovBrony chilling beside me. So please make the comment section entertaining!
Thankey,
CX
I can honestly say that I'm going in without expectations; though it'll be interesting to compare her canon personality with the numerous fanon personalities she's acquired over time.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm the outcast in this, but I definitely think Luna should be dark. Don't forget everypony, whatever her personality is, she turned evil. She tried to kill Twilight and friends. She was so wicked her own sister had to banish her to the moon.
ReplyDeleteOf course, she's trying to make amends now. But it's not going to be easy fitting into a world that doesn't accept you. She can't be expected to be shy and kind.
I expect an excellent episode and a brilliant performance by Tabitha St. Germain. I really like Ger-main.
ReplyDeleteI will be happy with a well written Luna but I am hopping for a somber but playful mix
ReplyDelete@Colt Classic We don't want her personality to overlap with another characters, because thats bad writing.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy with what we get, except if it's Twilight Sparkle 2.0 or Fluttershy 2.0. But I think somber and sorrowful would be interesting and would balance nicely with the main cast, as its the only niche not filled. Its not like it would be depressing or anything. I mean, somber and sorrowful can be played for laughs. Look at Marvin the Paranoid Android, from Hitchhikers Guide, or Eeyore. And it would really add a great contrast between her and everypony else. But whatever they do is fine with me. She doesn't look depressed in the screen cap, and the description makes her sound resolute and forward thinking, so I know that mine isn't likely but eh what can ya do.
Misunderstood, feared, generally shy as it is. She's been gone a thousand years. Everything's different, new, changed. She has nothing in common with the world, and it has nothing in common with her. I feel like she was already shy and generally ignored, hence the incident in the first place. She has an intense will buried under a placid exterior. Fitting in... making friends... these are far more difficult things for her than even for Twilight Sparkle, who in many ways is or should be a kindred spirit. 'tis my take, anywho.
ReplyDeleteI actually picture her to be Celestia-like but a bit more cheerful.
ReplyDeleteI really hope she'll be quiet, curious, happy, knowledgeable, regal(but much less so than Celestia), worried about how others view her, and act more like a little sister to Celestia rather than being formal with her. I also hope she has the same voice as she did in Episode 2. I'm a little nervous(super nervous) about how they'll handle her, but all we can really do is to just have faith in the writers.
ReplyDeleteI feel that given the situation she's in, I'm expecting her personality to be more humble and reserve, but still bold and wise.
ReplyDeleteShe needs to put her regrets behind her, what happened, happened. She can't wallow on the past, if she does, there may come a time where she is ruler of Equestria and her regrets could cause her to falter. My opinion though, we'll see how it turns out.
I do dislike a lot of the characterizations of Luna where she just sits there and cries about her problems but does nothing, even though there are ponies and resources right there to help her. I could see how she would feel more like a lonely outcast and such soon after the events of Friendship is Magic, part 2, where the actions that she feels responsible for are fresh in her mind.
My favorite version of Luna so far has been the one from Through the Eyes of Another Pony. Not because she's a troll, but because she's probably the most down-to-earth pony I've read about so far.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of hoping she has a somewhat realistic personality in comparison to the other characters, if that makes any sense.
This is only a hypothesis based on (mostly flawed) logic. Here goes.
ReplyDeleteWe can only make guesswork based on the few seconds that she has in the show, but that only means that our ideas are restricted to not contradicting the show. So, what do we know? We know that the reason she turned into nightmare moon was that she was jealous of her sister and upset that her night was being shunned. From this, we can infer that she is proud. We know that 1000 years in captivity did not deter her from her plan of unleashing nighttime eternal. This let's us know that she is honest and steadfast. Upon being defeated, she changes however, she lays her head down low; her pride has been bruised and she feels guilt, remorse. This reveals humility and shame.
This is where things get more abstract and probably (most definitely) wrong. Return of Harmony asserted that the Elements of Harmony once belonged to the two sisters, which implies that we can attribute elements that are more prevalent in one sister than in the other. What I will do s use Luna and Celestia's known actions in order to categorize the elements by possible owner. Any attribute I can't grant Celestia, I will assume is embodied by Luna.
Celestia has a well known reputation as a troll, so well known, that I will not bother even mentioning A Bird in The Hoof, and we have seen her laugh at the prank Twilight played on her in Griffon The Brush-Off and make jokingly refer to a Parasprite infestation in Fillydelphia in order to poke fun at Ponyville's dilemma. She is also known to dislike boring parties and play pranks on restaurant patrons too quick to refill her cup. For these reasons the Element of laughter is Celestia's. What this means for Luna is that she has become more likely to react like either Gilda or Fluttershy to pranks (I am on the Fluttershy camp for this and therefore predict she will be a little introverted. Speaking of Fluttershy, when reviewing Kindness, it can only logically be Celestia's trait as well. We have seen Celestia's compassion multiple times throughout the series and have only seen Luna attempt to murder the mane six, destroy a sea serpent's moustache, and break the bonds of friendship made by six ponies. Loyalty is also a Celestia's own; this is inherent through Luna's betrayal and Celestia's loyalty to her sister when she forgive's her. That leaves Generosity, Honesty, and Magic (which I will not go through because it is too abstract and hard to define. Regardless, my interpretation of the magic of friendship could easily disagree with any other brony's). Generosity I actually can defend. When we think about why Luna turned on her sister, we know that it was because she wanted Equestria to validate her gift to them. It is often remarked that her night is beautiful and all Luna wanted to do was share it with her subjects. I am not sure what this implies for her character besides that she would be generous. Celestia is shown to fair, kind, and merciful, but not benevolent. Honesty is a little hard to pin down. I'm going to pull the Trollestia card again to call out Celestia's dishonesty she is frequently very coy about revealing her intentions and does not struggle nearly as much as Applejack does when confronted with a situation that incite's lying (like pretending to take a sip about a cup of tea). Luna, from what we've seen is never dishonest. She was always upfront about what she did. And showed strong will and resolution. Like Applejack, she was always true to herself (even if that meant harboring a grudge for 1000 years). This means that in the upcoming episode she will at least mean what she says and be direct about it (although may not say it immediately).
That said, I would like to reiterate that this is purely speculation and is most likely very misled, to boot. I will welcome whatever characterization the geniuses at the Friendship is Magic, and expect to be surprised.
Hmmm... Quite sure there was a simillar discussion like that, some times ago, no ?
ReplyDeleteAnyway.
Time has pass... She will be better, both toward herself and accepting what happened... probably still a bit shy to be involved actively with other ponies... she will still like to do stuff like pranks, and do funny sneaky stuff (maybe related to pranks, or her being mysterious and all, because... She's ''the Night'', you know)...
Probably other things too, but that's mostly it.
Couldn't help but think "The possibilities are, like, ENDLESS!"
ReplyDeleteI kind of hope she'll be like the version seen in "Moonbeam". Kind of shy, sad, regretful, and a bit lonely. Unsure of herself, needing to make friends.
ReplyDeleteBatdroppings crazy. Insane, talking to herself and objects, mumbling, starcravingg (see what i did thar? ) mad. What anyone would be after a millenium of solitude on a gray rock.
ReplyDeleteOr, ya know, whatever the writers decided is fine.
I'm not expecting any particular kind of personality for her. Though I do know she is keeping the same voice actress (Tabitha St. Germain), I do expect her to sound adorable. I'm pretty sure I will love her no matter how she is presented! :)
ReplyDeleteI do think this may end up being one of the most-discussed episodes we've seen yet! I suspect some folks may not like Luna as she is presented at first, but I think in time she will grow on everypony. :D
I love wild mass-guessing! Though, for Luna, I just want to see her at all. Period.
ReplyDeleteAnd I want to see her now; this waiting is killer...
Hoping for the opposite of Celestia: naive, reserved, unsure. You have to think to yourself "Damn, 1,000 years in isolation? That must have really screwed with her head."
ReplyDeleteShe should have zero idea of how to properly associate with others. Granted, some time has surely passed since she's come back, and she's no doubt been going through some sort of rehabilitation, but I'd imagine that the sort of effect her isolation had on her isn't something easily shaken off.
Naturally, like everyone else, I'll be massively disappointed with how she ACTUALLY turns out, complain, get over it within a week, and accept her for whoever she turns out to be.
I'm aiming for a bit shy and remorseful because of what she did, but generally happy.
ReplyDeleteAs long as she ends the episode happy, I'm fine. Leave sad Luna to the fanfics.
ReplyDeleteI do see her getting rather frustrated or depressed over everything going wrong on Nightmare Night, which it will. I REALLY don't see Rainbow Dash's choice in costume ending well.
Moon Controlling alicorn...
ReplyDeleteON MOTORCYCLE!
@Corrderio
ReplyDeleteI'm fine with her being remorseful, but it could be more interesting if that was combined with her not being shy in the least.
Shy-shy princess would be such a waste. Nothing I can't live with though.
ReplyDeleteI'd say that a Dark side Luna who kicks ass and doesn't take attitude from anybody would be more interesting. But that won't happen.
I don't really care how she is; Luna is Luna. Personally, I don't like Fluttershy, since shy and meek girls are just boring, since there's just nothing to them. So, if I HAD to pick a personality, I would NOT want Luna to be shy, mellow, reserved, and apologetic. It would just be way too predictable and boring. I want her to be the opposite of her sister: a playful, mischievous prankster. I have to disagree with people on here that say that the night means sad and mellow. To me, it means the exact opposite: mischievous, naughty, wild, and so on and so forth. I'm hoping for that version of Luna. Maybe she'll show up on Nightmare Night and start to prank or scare the ponies, and that somehow leads to her feeling a bit bad and soon revealing her true emotions at the end. Anyone wanna bet that Luna will somehow be part of the lesson learned at the conclusion? But, no matter how she is, I'm just anxious to see everyone's favorite pony.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I'm already a bit disappointed by her new look. I liked the somewhat meek looking Luna that we had in the original premiere 2-parter. That being said, it should be interesting to see where the story takes her. I think that ponies are going to have a hard time trusting her. Especially on Nightmare Night. From the description it seems as though she's going to try her best to make friends and fit in, but her intentions will be taken completely the wrong way and people will see her more as Nightmare Moon and less as Luna. And of course in the end Celestia will swoop in and save the day and remind everyone that Luna is a good pony.
ReplyDelete@Corkscrew - you may be on to something there. One might consider Celestia to embody laughter (pranks/trolling), loyalty (self-explanatory) and honesty. Thus the other elements you mentioned fit for Luna.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda expecting a slightly immature, possibly prankish Celestia, with the added temper flares that comes with youth. It would be nice if NMM's personality would shine through at times, it would feel credible that she has some real inner struggle going on and not just brush the whole NMM thing under the carpet.
ReplyDeleteOh and if there is an Abacus cameo, the internets will break. Just sayin.
@Jay911
ReplyDeleteJust want to point out that Rainbow Dash pranks more then Celestia. Just because she occasionally pulls pranks or sets up various almost pointless schemes doesn't mean she represented laughter. Fanon tends to exaggerate that aspect of her from what I've seen.
Luna may end up representing Laughter to a far greater degree then Celestia does.
I actually think she may end up being just what she is: a young princess. I'm expecting a bit of Rarity in her in that she believes her being royalty makes her a bit better than her subjects. Something Celestia took time to learn differently about, I'm sure. She'll still be adorable .. but with maybe a bit of arrogance. Not purposeful arrogance but naive arrogance where she doesn't know better than to think she's better than other ponies.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if Luna is adorable by pony standards. She's above average size and has a face shaped like a colts. Celestia does too.
ReplyDeleteAlso, she's not young.
Anyhow for this episode to be entertaining or for anything to happen she can't be too shy to do anything, she has to be doing something and likely making things worse. For that to happen she needs to have a personality that scares ponies whether she means to or not.
And has anyone seen that one leaked screenshot of Luna? The one with the "evil" grin? That isn't the sign of a shy, timid pony.
So my prediction is that it's her behavior that will start reminding other ponies of Nightmare Moon. Perhaps by her trying too hard to get into the spirit of the Holiday and going overboard.
But whatever happens it'll probably be her actions that worry the ponies, not simply who she is or was.
And as I said, that "evil" grin doesn't make her look like a second Fluttershy or variation thereof.
Anxious, fanfic in process, writter here. Ready to watch the episode a thousand times if needed, to rewrite her right. I just need her to be smart... Please be smart WOONAAAAAAAA!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to have no expectations, but I can't avoid hoping for one thing: I hope Luna is NOT like any other FiM character, specially NOTHING like Celestia, I love Celestia but just one Princessy Princess is enough. Luna shall be like... Studio B writters' Luna.
this comic created my headcanon because it's hilarious:
ReplyDeletehttp://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/267/2/f/awkward_moments_by_teygrim-d4ar40y.jpg
But since Luna really hasn't been characterized well by the show, I'm open to anything.
I have nothing I would not approve, I wish to see what she's like, that is all.
ReplyDeleteSince it is luna I would like to end this with a yay.
ʸᵃʸ
I've learned after many years that having expectations towards something will end up in dissapointment. So as much as I love Luna, my expectations towards her personality are ZERO.
ReplyDeleteI am ready and willing to be surprised by the FiM team, let's see what they put together and have fun with it. They are the guys who brought us this awesome show, so there's no one better to show Luna's true personality. I'm here ready to be surprised.
From what I've learned from experience is to not have too specific expectations. Those get disappointed rather easily.
ReplyDeleteDiscord however exceeded all expectations of mine without fitting them in the slightest. He was awesome in a way I never guessed he might be awesome.
Trolluna.
ReplyDeleteI think the sad aspect that a lot of people portray her with is going to be close due to the synopsis.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that, like Celestia, she will be Kind and Happy under normal situations. Maybe with a bit of Remorse as well. However, if provoked in such a way that will annoy her (Something which is almost certainly going to show up during Nightmare Night) She can be Frightening and Scary, however that is a side of her she doesn't normally want to become. That's my prediction for Luna. Only a few hours until we find out what she is really like.
ReplyDelete@El_Darax
ReplyDeleteI know right? I hate to say it, but the tears will be delicious. XD
I see her being a bit immature. Maybe a little reserved until Pinkie Pie gets a hold of her, then she starts to prank along with Pinkie, but goes over the line with the pranks and start hurting ponies without realizing it's not nice?
ReplyDeleteI want her to be a: playful, adorable, attractive & nice princess! :3
ReplyDeleteWell Luna is now like her Big sister...Big responsibility and Royal stuffs
ReplyDeleteI honestly just hope she's not a clone of Celestia is all. It looks like her cute factor remains but I'm staying openminded so I can truly enjoy the awesomeness that the FiM team delivers!
ReplyDeleteWhen Celestina and Luna defeat Discord, I assumed Celestina used elements of magic, kindness (imprisoned in the Moon is a lot better then killing) and laughter (explaining her small jokes here and there.) while Luna used loyalty, honesty, and generosity.
ReplyDeleteShe will loyalty to Celestina, tell the truth,, and work with other ponies to do some good.
I expect her to be awesome, regardless of personality. xD
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what to expect, but (confound this fandom!) I really hope that she has a pet abacus.
ReplyDeleteI'm expecting a mixture of all of the mane cast, but I don't know if that'll make her insane or simply well-rounded.
All I know is that someone needs to be fired for changing her mane.
ReplyDeleteAs Queen of the Night, she should be an opera singer! 8D /troll
ReplyDeleteI think she will be shy, reserved, and attached to her sister. I mean, this I can infer from the episode synopsis. I'd LIKE it if she had a bit of a nerdy personality like in that one Progress fanfic though. That's my favorite Luna.
@The Commander
ReplyDelete*brohoof*
i dont give a crap. i just want luna. any luna.
ReplyDeleteSo long as she doesnt some how wind up being a stuck up ,misunderstood annoying pony like Blueblood [except for the misunderstood part] i will be happy with anything.
ReplyDeleteI'd hope her to be awesome. That is all.
ReplyDeleteI think I like the lonely outcast Luna is the best Luna. Living in the shadow of her older sister and the shame in turning into Nightmare Moon should be enough to fill any pony with angst. I see her as a shy awkward pony who just wants a friend to talk to. Yes, to me that is the ideal Luna.
ReplyDeleteI have only one option that would truly make all expectations from the team come true: What one object appears in nearly every Luna fic? Abacus. If she has Abby, then I'll forgive the FIM team ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING ELSE they do.
ReplyDeleteIf she doesn't, I'll just have to trust them to come up with a personality that I can see fits. It would be a shame though.
Sorta like Twilight Sparkle mixed w/ Fluttershy in the beginning, with her awe to new things (she was on the Moona for 1,000 years) and that I think she will be kinda shy, except around Twilight Sparkle, then moves onto a more Pinkie Pie version with pranks and happiness.
ReplyDeleteCelestia reskin.
ReplyDeleteNeeds more Abacus.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to anything Studio B gives us. They haven't let us down before!
ReplyDeleteI know, though, that many fans are inevitably going to be upset... I just hope we get it out of our system quickly.
The only fanon thing I could see them POSSIBLY referencing would be including Abacus as a nod in our direction, but I'm certain if they EVER did that it wouldn't appear in this episode.
ReplyDeleteNerds discussin' about fictional ponys hypothetical personality. GET A GRIP YOU DAMN LUNATICKS.
ReplyDeleteand no abacus for you.
I want her to be a vindictive bitch; a natural douchebag. She won't be malicious, just naturally bitter and repugnant. Why?: 1 Every show needs a crank in the cast. 2 It would make this loving and tolerating fanbase explode in rage.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm not expecting to see her much in the episode.
Socially awkward, which would make sense since she trapped in the moon for 1,000 years. And I would love to hear her call Celestia "Tia". I will dawwwww so hard.
ReplyDeletei honestly have no expectations whatsoever, but i am liking a lot of your ideas. as long as she isn't a dick or depressed the whole episode, then i'm cool with whatever the writers do.
ReplyDeleteand that's the way the cookie crumbles folks...
I'm seeing this as Luna doesnt reveal herself until the end. We wont get much equinality.
ReplyDeleteI expect her to be different from what the fandom thought she was, which is good for me, because I never liked her being a mix of Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy.
ReplyDelete@SIaanme By this point everyone expects them...
ReplyDeleteI imagine a happy, but calm, shy, but brave Luna. I really have no idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm half-expecting what Lauren said she was supposed to be at one point, a 'good' character, but not in the traditional sense that we've come to expect from the rest of the cast. Though she will probably start out a bit reserved to explain the absence and why she might not have such a good standing amongst everyone who was welcoming her back at first.
ReplyDeleteMore in general though? I don't know, maybe something like Rarity?
^ Addendum: NOT Lesson Zero Rarity
ReplyDeletei want her to be shy, but somehow happy...and a little awkward in social relation
ReplyDeleteI want Luna to be a party animal. She represents the night, when all the cool stuff happens!
ReplyDeleteWhat do I wanna see in Luna? Hmmm, in all honesty a lot like some of the depictions of Derpy Hooves: Takes her work very seriously, but is still a lot of screwball fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm going for shy and much attached to her sister, that or resentful of her. Don't know how I'd react to being banished to the moon for 1000 years. Probably pretty aggravated
ReplyDeleteI actualy kind of want her to be evil.
ReplyDeleteI hope the episode shows Luna's reaction to Dash's Shadowbolt costume. Will she be appreciative that Dash thought her design cool enough to imitate or will she be chagrined at the reminder of the image she's trying to shed? Or something else?
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, Luna's reactions to how the ponies see/treat her will give us the strongest clues to her character.
I just want Luna to NOT be a cliche... but seeing as how IMDB lists Lauren herself as the writer for this episode, I don't think that will be a problem.
I don't know. I have expect her to have a breakdown like all the mane6 have at least once.
ReplyDeleteExpectations... what i expect her to be. Well, i don´t expect anything actually. Whatever she is is good enough for me.
ReplyDeleteI´m extremely excited just to see the real Luna, no matter what personality she has, what she looks like.
All i want is to see her. There. "Alive". To have something else to think about Luna than the 2 lines and few seconds we had on our minds.
Now... wait... 1... more... day...
My head canon is that comic where Trixie is Luna's student and they paint sleeping Celesia's face.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Luna should behave like little sister i.e., troll and try to one up Celestia.
Lunaqueeshafawnashanika.
ReplyDelete:D
I really hope this won't be the only episode we get to see her in, I would really like to have her come out once and awhile. Perhaps with Celestia when ever she make an appearance. I really don't have high expectations, so I'll be content with what ever personality she turns out to have. I'll be loyal to Luna regardless! <3
ReplyDeleteGiven that she's sort of younger than Celestia, I'd imagine that she'd be the Sweetie Belle to her sister's Rarity or the Apple Bloom to her Applejack: similar in a lot of respects but distinctive enough that she's her own pony. Perhaps she's gracious, patient but more inclined to tell ponies who have a hard time seeing the obvious what they need to do before they cast Want-it-Need-it spells on childhood playthings.
ReplyDeleteI'd expect her to be somewhat like fluttershy, from her brief appearence in the show, she is capable of emotional outrage, and does indeed feel regret. judging by her reaction to the flower necklace, she is not entirely used to such attention and probably has spent her entire life in the castle, before she was, you know, sent to the moon.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Luna is that, until now, all we had was one line and a few seconds of screen time. Her character is undefined; she is a "blank slate" that anyone could write on, so her fans have projected onto her their own interpretations of her character, personality and history.
ReplyDeleteThus, there is a strong possibility that many Luna fans will be disappointed with how she is depicted in tomorrow's episode.
My one concern is that, based on the leaked synopsis, "Luna Eclipsed" might wind up being a rehash of "Bridle Gossip," with Luna playing the part of the "outcast," Zecora. However, the MLP writers have not disappointed us so far and I'm confident that they will come through again with another wonderful story.
As I said elsewhere, the Luna worship after tomorrow will be EPIC.
OMC! The preview clip on Wired! It looks like she *is* being a prankster! Yeah, showing up like that isn't going to backfire on you, Luna...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wired.com/underwire/2011/10/my-little-pony-halloween/
@SovBrony
ReplyDeleteLIKE A BAWZ!
I believe Luna will have a very Humble personality. Kinda like Fluttershy, except without the shyness.
ReplyDeleteTo put it simply, I just want her to be lovable! <3
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer Luna to be a quiet, relaxed master of politics that's better at running the government then Celestia. A little bit of a prankster, though.
ReplyDeleteI've never really thought about her personality, but I have postulated upon what kind of music she'd listen to. I'd imagine she'd like the kind of spacey, classical-ish synthpop/progressive kind of music, like Mike Oldfield, Jean-Michael Jarre, maybe some of Wayne Lytle's stuff....
ReplyDeleteI overthink things way too much. XD
I JUST SAW NEW LUNA PICS ON MEME BASE SHE'S EVEN CUTER AND MORE ADORABLE THAN BEFORE I'M SO EXCITED FOR TOMORROW MORNING I'M GONNA DIE WAITING!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEE MY PICTURE IT'S THE NEW HER SHES SOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteheres hoping she wants revenge against Twilight and them for ruinning her plans *shot*
ReplyDeleteLike a mini Celestia that hates being compared to her. oh and shy about making friends like twilight was oh and maybe throw in a little rainbow to make her 20% cooler XD
ReplyDeleteA bit shy, but not too shy. After all, isnt this her first time actually coming out of the castle and meeting everypony in a year? Would hate for her to turn evil so Celestia would have to banish her to the moon again. That would be one way they could get rid of her completely, BUT they better NOT! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with the psychology sheet:
ReplyDeletehttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/-neEdu7hFdFo/TaowjghRcTI/AAAAAAAADfM/biGqsxy4vAM/s1600/cU3rE.jpg
For what we already know of Luna is/made the night itself. She should be artistic and altruistic (after all, she made the nighttime sky for others to admire).
Also, she goes well with the introverted (not necessarily shy, though) and slightly mischievous personality - artistic personality, again.
Keeping in mind that she made the two biggest romantic (speaking of the whole literary era here) symbols, some related personality would be nice: A dreamer, yet regretful, with regular escapes to somewhere she feels more comfortable. Not a loner, but someone who likes to be alone sometimes.
And yea... I know, I have very high expectations... But whatever Studio B throws at us, I'll be bloody happy.
I expect that they will have an explanation why we didn't hear anything from her since episode 2. That gap deserves a little explanation.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wouldn't be too surprised if this episode is the starting point of a mini-arc involving Luna, or at least some appearances in future episodes. After all, its time for an mini-arc in season 2.
What else to expect? Since she's now at least 1000 years younger than Celestia, she's not as experienced, though she still has some knowledge. Her self-confidence is probably low because of her past. And we'll see her mainly at night, with some quiet atmosphere.
I'm really hoping her personality doesn't completely Joss my sequel to OTEOTM >.>
ReplyDeleteSimply put, I'm expecting Celestia meets Fluttershy. I think she's going to carry a regal air about her, but a timidness that only comes from being separated from the world she knew for so long.
ReplyDeleteThat, or a Trojan horse full of diamond dogs. Haven't decided yet.
I really, really hope she doesn't turn evil again.
ReplyDeleteAn extremely large amount of squee and EPIC
