ReplyDeleteI just can't see a statue lasting that long in one place without there being some other kind of event happening nearby that might help to awaken Discord, so I don't think we cam blame the CMC. Unless they actually manage to knock over the statue and break it, which is what frees him (Look! Our cutie marks represent our ability to unleash evil into the world! CUTIE MARK CRUSADER BRINGERS OF THE APOCALYPSE! YAY!!).

It could of been a combination of things to awaken Discord, including the CMCs. I just love the idea of the CMCs unwittingly unleashing evil upon Equestria.

The CMC fighting?! seriously?! as a gag? and then, them waking up Discord just for saying chaos a few times? and what were those statues doing there...weren't they suppose to be heavily guarded or something?
And why the hell do all the characters seem so obnoxious and forced,even the first 30 seconds of the Labyrinth clip. Like they totally sucked all the subtle,swiftness and transition from it.
What the hell did they do with this episode? seriously, the animation is good, but jesus christ, don't sacrifice subtlety and believeable scenes just to show off your animation skills
I'm not exactly sure how i can take this episode serious...it's like...they made it as a gag for a comedy or something...there's no atmosphere, it just jumps in your face

These are clips from the MIDDLE OF AN EPISODE. We don't get to see any buildup or context. It's ridiculous to judge the episode based on these.
This is like seeing the Spike interrogation clip from Party of One and complaining that it doesn't make sense that Pinkie would be so angry 'so suddenly' and that they're 'throwing her personality out the window'. Just relax.

How dare they do what they always do by putting in cartoonish gags in a cartoon and having the CMC disagree like they did in the first season! Having Pinkie as a main character means the show jumped the shark before it even began!

But I find it's better to just upload it straight, without converting in-between (which just lessens the quality all the more). Watching the original 360p clip full-screen is actually a bit better than watching a doubly transcoded, stretched 720p version of the same clip.

As for the whole Sweetie and Scoots being in Applebloom's class, there are tons of simple explanations, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle could be in the PM class while Applebloom is in the AM class (or vice versa), or maybe Applebloom could have asked Sweetie Belle (who I assume stays with Rarity from time to time while actually living with their parents) and Scootaloo (who I am pretty sure would go to Cloudsdale) to accompany her on the field trip.

ReplyDeleteThe two-parter was always intended for season 2, not 'tacked onto it'. They worked on it at the same time they were working on season 1, so that they could have most of the same team on the crew. Jayson Thiessen says so in the interview posted recently, can't get better proof than that.
Also, that doesn't look like the head of any pony I've ever seen, pretty warped if it is... You sure that's not a goat head Cheerilee?

ReplyDeleteMan...this is getting more interesting. And to put the scene off, the BGM is spot-on; very spot on in fact. William Kevin Anderson's work pretty much makes the show better.
ReplyDeleteSeems like he went down singing. I wonder if he goes down singing again (and strengthens my feeling that he's a loki, and does things for fun, not giving a care to how much damage it causes.

ReplyDelete-If I'm right that Discord went down singing, he'll go down that way again, going by the logic that songs are harmonious
-If so, he would go down by [or perhaps after] an epic and powerful (literally), and harmonious song by the mane 6 (like how that mime/clown was defeated in that one powerpuff girls episode)
[added bonus, he sings the grand finale, or the bridge, while he's turning back to stone]
-By that logic, he would try to separate them/turn them against each other to keep such a thing from happening (and it would take something involving their own element to overcome whatever obstacle they face to reunite)
..of course, I say this with stern confidence that ALL MY PREDICTIONS ARE GUARANTEED TO BE WRONG.

ReplyDeleteIf friendship is tied to the strongest magic in Equestria, then friends going at it must have some pretty bad mojo about it.
it's quite obvious that Discord is simply being fed by the CMC's disharmonious actions. I'm sure with that spark of discord that the CMC seem to almost embody lol Discord grows stronger and causes more discord among ponies till he finally breaks free.
