Pretty much every major and minor and background pony is proudly featured on this poster. Some of the notable ones are our ever-present mascot Derpy, Lyra and Bon-Bon, and, to my utter delight, Octavia. I'm serious, Octavia is back there, and she didn't get a single line in the entire show. I'm so happy.
I have a mission for you all. If you go to Comic-Con, please, grab me one of these posters. You'll pretty much be my best friend forever.

Also i know Roseluck was called by name once as "Rose" in the show, but her toy is called Roseluck, "Rose" could simply be short for that, Like "Twi" "AJ" and such.

Im trying to figure this out just as much as anyone else. When i zoom in, there are a few things to note:
-Though the character on the left is in fact purple like Twilight, there's something wrong with the hair, though it could still be her.
-Now what my greatest problem with your theory is that the character on the right has white color, or at least a big portion of his/her body is white, while Spike has no white in his character (apart from eyes).

ReplyDeleteIt may look white at first but when you look closely and compare Spike's underbelly (the front one) with the "white" in the back, you can see that the color is identical. Assuming that the poster creator stated that those were not the actual Twilight and Spike in the balloon, they could be the evil twins or be mustachioed. It's too hard to tell from the current perspective.

I honestly hope they're are more vigilant bronies staking out the place this year.
Last year I stopped by the Hub's Event room and was completely dismayed to find out when I got home that no one had managed to post anything except for the promotional artwork they displayed in the entry way. I was like the only one who seemed to post anything about the promo video they were running in the hallway(even though it was technically the Op credits on a loop with the Hub promo and a TF:Prime teaser footage). Then again it was on a small tv with no sound and right out front a much bigger room with a giant Optimus Prime hand, Fraggle Rock memoribilia and a prize wheel.
More encentive for those attending this year is the possibilty of getting a sneek peek at Season 2.
Don't let me down guys.

@ woeful Canadian: no Comic Con here, but we have the FIM lunch bags (at Zellers) and we got the miniature molded figurines well before the US. It ain't so bad. I still expect the blind bags to show up eventually.

As a note, a lot of items from Comic-con usually don't sellout all the way, so they post them up online and have them sold for either first come first server or some special giveaway.

I just was being too literal to accept that it could be her as I didn't see an image of her wearing aviator goggles. 8^) Hmmm, I suppose taking a ride in a balloon explains the goggles and cap. As for her white companion? Wild guess = Twinkle because there is a white unicorn with pink hair standing next to Cherry in that wiki. 8^/ Pretty shaky guess, if it is Twinkle then her horn should be sticking right through that cap she's wearing.

Nope, I just did the art for the poster. It belongs to Hasbro, all prints and distribution is up to them. It's a Comic Con exclusive poster, selling it online would kinda ruin the whole 'exclusive' thing.
Some Bronies will just be luckier than others this time.

ReplyDeleteI was at Comic Con, but I had no chance at a poster. Dinner ran long so by the time I got into the hall an hour after it opened, security had closed off the Hasbro Toy Shop booth to any new customers. They had a sheet showing all the con exclusives they are selling, but there was no sign of a pony poster, on the sheet or at the booth. Security had the place closed off so well that there was no way to talk to anyone who actually was working for Hasbro there to find out whether posters could still be had. I can't make it there when the hall opens tomorrow morning, so even if there are still posters there, I don't foresee having anymore luck than I did today.

Wow, this is just so amazing! I love it how many of the characters are interacting with each other and many of the background ponies have their fan-given personalities. Just spectacular.

ReplyDeletePoster accomplished! Hasbro's instructions were misleading. Booth 3329 is where they sell their con exclusives, but the posters are actually at the main Hasbro booth. You don't have to wait in line, but you do have to ask for the Facebook poster or you get a different one. One to a customer.
ReplyDeleteFor those who don't know, Nayuki is a layout artist on the show. (for fans of Lyra, her slouching on the bench and sitting with the cup and straw are some of his stuff).

I feel bad asking anyone to be a poster mule. But I don't know how easy this will be to get after the con, none of us do really. Any Volunteers?

ReplyDeleteATTENTION COMIC CON ATTENDEES: If you have no desire to try and get a Hasbro Toyshop Ticket, which is annoying in itself, GOOD NEWS. You don't have too. The booth that actually has this exclusive poster is the Hub/Hasbro booth across the way from 3329. All you have to do is go up to the desk and ask the nice lady near the MLP sign for one. You are unfortunately only allowed one, because it is limited. But you don't have to waste time getting a ticket for the toyshop!

They included all the creatures/pets, everpony who's had speaking lines, and Doctor Whoof, Pokey Pierce, Derpy, OPPP, Colgate, Carrot Top, Octavia, Lyra and Bon Bon, DJ P0N-3, Ace - pretty much every background pony that we have a name for! Wish I could have my own.

ReplyDeleteOK, now somebody who has the poster needs to set their camera on macro and take a closeup picture of the balloon so we can see who's in it.
ReplyDeleteToday they were handing these to anyone waiting in line at the booth, so it lost the speakeasy specialness of sidling up to the counter and asking for a Facebook poster for your imaginary niece. So I expect that the posters will be gone tomorrow, if not already. On the plus side, we should get a bunch more fans of the show. I mean, who could resist that awesome poster?

However, the idea that Seth, Cereal or Phoe would not get one of these posters is unacceptable, so if you don't already have a line on one, please let me know and I can get it in the mail after the convention. Once you admit publicly that Pinkie Pie is Best Pony, of course. ^^
Brony meetup went well, by the way. Pinkie Pie throws the best parties, and Big Macintosh brought apples for everyone.
