    1. I must say, I completely enjoyed this little story.
And Im not just saying that cause NMM is hovering over my shoulder as I type this.

I love the setup of what's going to unfold, carving out its own little niche in Pony Mythos.

      5/5

Oh ZAqu,you make it sound like I'm forcing you to do anything.

I had already read this before, and as before I could not peel away from it when I first read through it. Certainly is an interesting take on the whole mythos of the event. As always, the one constant with with Nightmare Moon stories is there's always the "Nice Job Breaking it Hero" factor that Luna ends up accomplishing. You'd think that poor filly would learn by now?

Regardless, I'm sure that little glowing orb of little spying on Twilight is harmless, and completely forgetable. Nothing suspicious about it all.

    4. @Nightmare Moon

Oh, so that's who is looking over his left shoulder. I, your twin, am watching over his right. And I agree, completely harmless, nothing to be worried about at all. Pay no attention to it.

    5. Isn't one of those two figures supposed to be the Angelic half?

Dang, ZAquanimus... you've got some issues to sort out.

Well, have to spice it up with something else then.

      I loved this story, dude!
It was probably one of the best early Luna/Celestia stories that I've read.

I'm really looking forward to the next part!

      ReplyDelete
    8. Hmm, interesting. Considering that supposedly Luna is still not a full adult it would make sense that her transformation into Nightmare Moon was during the beginning of her and Celestia's reign. I like that this story doesn't seem to be going the Tyrant Celestia route.

      ReplyDelete
    9. Really loving the originality and also remaining true to the prologue of the first episode about the events that transpired regarding Luna. Although I'm a bit torn about the whole "Luna creates Cutie Mark" thing..

Regardless, really looking forward for the next installment.

      Yes son. :D

I love the characterisation with Luna and Celestia. And it's a great take on the whole "Rise of Nightmare Moon" malarky.

    11. Thanks for all the great comments, everypony! I'm sorry I couldn't respond sooner, but the day this was posted, my internet died and refused to come back up.

In other news, Part 2 is well on its way, and I have no idea how I am going to beat Part 1, that one's my pride. XD

    12. (Ch.1)

So far, I must say that... It's quite interesting, and pretty informative in a well done way.

I was really interested by it.

      No visible holes so far.
I don't think I can point any particuliar thing on which I could ''scratch my head and wonder'' (trust me when I say this is a pretty rare occurance... some might agree on that one... I read and think a lot, lots of free-time, what can I say).

Even the ''life expectancy'' of the alicorns seem ''fair'', especially the way it is presented in this story.
Their 'time' being more like the duration of their stay on the ''mortal'' plane of existance, before continuing their 'immortal' lives on another plane.
And, an average to maybe a bit more than, 4-5 thousand years is a relatively decent amount of time, for a 'stay'.

-Let's hope this continue on this track. (I must say that I wonder in which ''fashion'' the war aspect will be treated... I can't help, but eye the Tags...)

      ReplyDelete
    13. @Nova25

Thank you for the comment! And you'll see the full out war in Part 3. War breaks out in Part 2. Part 3 may be made into 3 AND 4, depending on how long it gets.

And as for plotholes, I can't stand them, so I always try to make sure everything is tied up, whether it is in the same chapter or not.

    14. This is great! Anon approves!

    15. Wow, really enjoying this so far. Love the way your portraying the 2 sister's, epically the inside thought from Luna. Poor little Luna :(

      5 star's from me.

P.S. Loved the small game tickling the sister's played at the start of part one and the reference to it in the 2nd part.

      Keep up the good work.

      ReplyDelete
    16. Oh to have seen part 2 whilst it was being made,
the 18 hours i saw put into it by the author and her editor.

This story has dedication, and it shows.
I saw as part 2 went from a chapter almost as good as the first, to a chapter that was as great as the first, perhaps even surpassing it.

And, I'm hearing great things regarding the third :3

    27. Wow, that is what I have to say. Wow. You gave the land of Equestria a depths of history and a depth to those in it that I always felt was lacking. I am not sure..if we will us this alt history within Equestrian Dawn mush, which I am Princess Luna in. But I do thank you for the story none the less. I hope to see more of this flavor of FIM. And look forward to perhaps to seeing other authors try their hooves at writing for it.

    30. I must say Dragryphon you have fast become one of my favourite FanFiction authors. All 3 chapter's where amazing to read and a good follow up to your previous story. Really looking to the next few stories you've got planed, I cannot wait for them.

And I must say, the ending actually made me cry it was that sweet. The first story I've actually shed a tear to, so you can add my name to the probably ever growing list that you've gotten.

Plus knowing to being a massive supply of Cheesecake while reading your story on google.doc in case you are their and I say something to displease you.

      ReplyDelete
    31. Whoa. Just...whoa.

The story itself was a good one, beginning to end. However, I only recently discovered Equestria Daily, and I've been going through an archive binge on the stories hosted here...I wasn't sure about this one. Not because it's bad, but because there are so many covering the same material - after a while, they feel like they're running together. It becomes hard to remember what bit of storyline goes where.

Then, I hit the endgame...and the finale...and the epilogue. Sweet mercy, the epilogue. Ever been at the point where you're caught halfway between laughter and tears, and neither one will properly allow the other to come out? That's where you brought me with this. Thank you.

I'm looking forward to your future works, as well. I'm not sure how easily I'll be able to bring myself to -finish- them, after this, but I'm looking forward to them.

      thank you for sharing this

      ReplyDelete
    35. Your story keeps getting better and better. ZAqua's editting really helped me in 'sinking' into the story which I had some trouble doing in the prequel due to the grammatical errors. Anyway can't wait to read what you write next.

      ReplyDelete
    36. @Anonymous

Actually, ZAqua only edited the third part of this one. The 'prequel' was done while I was getting back into writing after years of not doing so, and I'm not proud of it.

    38. I'm surprised that I didn't comment on this when I read it the first time. It's been a while (really only two days, I think, but still), so I don't remember the details, but I do know that this was an incredible story and that you should know it.

I loved the battle scenes and the story you've built up explaining the history behind Luna and Celestia. Seriously, it brought tears out all over the place, especially when Celestia had to leave Luna behind.

Also, for some reason I totally didn't foresee Celestia using the Elements of Harmony. Not sure what to think about that (could have been silliness on my part or good writing on yours).

I especially like fanfictions like this because of the way they deal with the pony theme. The pony theme is fantastic (to me, at least) because it largely removes human concerns and philosophies, and thus inhibits my own cynicism (lol). Fanfictions like this keep that innocent theme but return some timeless principles such love and loss (truly meaningful things) that are too often clouded by the difficulties of the human condition.

Basically: I wish I could tell stories like you do. I love what you've done with this. Fantastic. Infinite stars.

    46. New part: A bit bizarre. Somewhat unnerving, but it doesn't quite have the same sense to it that even the endgame of Solar Flare did.

I do have one question, though, partially based on a few ideas I'm playing with for myself. Is the tale within "What could have happened" a true 'What might have been'? Or is it a potentially dangerous 'What elsewhere was'?

      ReplyDelete
    47. @Anonymous

A bit of both. While it shows what might have happened if Nightmare Moon had won, it also gives them an early warning as to what may happen to their own future.

      ReplyDelete
    48. wow; And I mean that, just... wow. the first story was good to say the least, but that second story, I truly hope to hear more of this new 'big bad' Erebus, and a somewhat better description, for I feel that it would be pretty interesting to try and draw him/her.

      ReplyDelete
    49. @Anonymous

You are the first pony to say that WCHB is better than Solar Flare. XD

Erebus will definitely be returning. The next story is Deep Dark.

      ReplyDelete
    50. @Dragryphon
I find that hard to believe, though I cant be kidding my self, and hope there will be more that feel the same as I do Because I honestly love the air of the unknown.

    51. lol Applejack got the rawest deal by far. Nightmare Moon basically forced her implement Soviet agricultural policy, circa 1935.

      ReplyDelete
    52. @MyCutieMarkisaGUN

Indeed! When I get around to expanding upon this story, once I finish Deep Dark, Applejack will likely be running a revolution.

      ReplyDelete
    53. Hm.
Interesting what if. Though I guess if Erebus is this strong, and eats ponies (all of em), that there is not a lot that can be done against it.

Also Lunas and Celestias parents are very bad at raising their children to the possible threats. Ah well, even if they die they will end up in pony/alicorn heaven anyway :)

      ReplyDelete
    54. Another excellent piece of writing, and looking forward to more; definitely.

      ReplyDelete
    55. Excellent, excellent story. I know there are a few stories with many many comments on here and I am shocked this is not one of them. Solar Flare especially backed an emotional punch whereas What Could Have Been was less heart wrenching and more grim. I look forward to Deep Dark albeit with some trepidation as it seems as if the story shall surely be quite grimdark

The one question I have is: What storyline is Deep Dark going to be based off of, Solar Flare of WCHB? Personally hoping for Solar as the likelyhood of a happy(or at least not grimdark) ending seems more likely.

      ReplyDelete
    56. @Matt

Deep Dark will be a continuation of Solar Flare, in present time. What you saw in WCHB was not only what could have happened if Nightmare Moon had won, but it also showed a new threat that Celestia, Luna, and now Twilight are warned of.

      ReplyDelete
    57. Ooo Ooo Ooo... I had read Solar Flare parts 1 and 2 and I thought this past update was for part three! Imagine my surprise when I read three, go to comment, and see another story done as a bridge to a continuation! It's gonna be great! I won't tell you how many stars I gave this story, but it's somewhere between 4.99 and 5.01.

I saw some minor grammatical errors, but hell, I found those in Harry Potter and LotR. Therefore, you're allowed a few freebies ^_^

Please, indulge me and continue this.

      ReplyDelete
    58. @Tast

Indeed! Part 3 was updated a month ago. XD

And don't doubt it isn't going to be conitnued, expect the first few chapters of the longfic, Deep Dark, in a week or so.

    67. This is Matt from the earlier comments....
Judging from Celestia's reaction I'd assume the mane 6/elements are the champions but I can't be sure. Curse you cliffhangers! I'm also guessing from the tone of the story that we'll see a theme of Luna attempting to redeem herself for the wrongs she/NMM committed in the past.
Excellent start to the continuation and I eagerly await more.

      ReplyDelete
    68. @iastfan112

Heh, not quite. The Champions are most certainly not the Mane 6. They're something else entirely.

I really hope they expand on Luna's story in season 2, and that they give her even a quarter of the depth and emotion that this tale (Mythos is pretty appropriate, actually). Thanks for a truly incredible read.

    83. @Dragryphon

Uhm, this seems to be the only way I can post comments with my Google account...

      Anyway...

Ok, that Harbinger thing is just TOO evil. I am compelled to erase it from reality.

Maybe a singularity... no! Not powerful enough... a Big Bang! Yeah! Take that you abomination of existence! *cuz i is, like, infinity +1 times moar powurfull then u, u mean tentakle monster from hell*

Seriously, that thing has aroused my hatred to the point where I would take the entirety of the universe, turn it into pure nullifying power, and blast that thing with the full measure of it!

You have created an ultimate supervillain monster of unspeakable evil. Even Aku, Shapeshifting Master of Darkness that he is, would piss his pants (if he wore pants) faced with such a thing. Though, I can't help but wonder if it's along the lines of the Darkness from which Aku emerged, the last fragment.

      ReplyDelete
    84. @Alondro

I am glad to see another who has such a hatred for that abomination, I would move the Universe itself to rip that thing asunder.

Yet, you are even further from the truth than you could possibly imagine.

      ReplyDelete
    85. I must say "horseapples have hit the fan" is an apt description of what happened at the end of Part 2 of Deep Dark. I wonder if Erebus is merely exiling/banishing Celestia to someplace or corrupting her in some way? Giving his(?) history the later seems the more likely option.

      ReplyDelete
    86. @ Dragryphon

Your 'Solar Flare' series was an absolutely amazing read!
The conflict of Nightmare Moon and Luna and subsequent fall was riveting!

Thanks for crafting such a wonderful tale!

Can't wait to read the others... :)

      ReplyDelete
    87. @Dusklight

And I'm far from done, too. Can't wait to get started on some of the things I've been hinting at for a while. Some hints a lot harder to see than others, but still.

In other news, I love writing Luna and Nightmare Moon, and I foresee much more Nightmare Moon in the future. And I soon get to start writing Solar Flare, IE, character, not story. XD

      ReplyDelete
    88. And so the plot thickens...

Looks like Deep Dark is shaping up to be as interesting a challenge, in its own way, as what happened in Solar Flare. I look forward to seeing more.

      ReplyDelete
    89. @CHeighlund

It's even more challenging for me. I have to tie everything together and make sure there are no glaring errors or plotholes. I also have to make it all interesting while going about my usual way of dropping hints without the hints being too easily seen or guessed.

      ReplyDelete
    90. @Dragryphon:
Not to mention keeping the level of threat!tension high enough...

I wish you well with this. Of course, I am forced to admit that my motives are at least partially selfish.

    91. nicely done story.
most writers make endings that aren't hard to dislike, but this one felt just right.

      I'd buy a book of this :V

      ReplyDelete
    92. I'm just so confused as to Erebus's angle in all this.

Biggest thing is why he is so determined to force Luna to rule over this Trelaria place.

      ReplyDelete
    93. @shadefox

You'll soon see Erebus' angle, as well as what happened in the past. In fact, Chapter 5 you'll get to see some glimpses into the past and what happened.

Watch for the hints I've dropped. They help tell you what's coming up and give you insight. There's a hint about Erebus in this Chapter.

      ReplyDelete
    94. I've decided to do a running commentary as I read this chapter:
      1. New "cover" art, I approve.
2.Okay who let WandererD out? He's not supposed to be editing other stories, he's supposed to be writing The Empty Room nonstop- I demand this!
      3. Don't know whether to slap you or congratulate you for including WORST THING POSSIBLE in your story. Both funny and a nice reference while simultaneously being groan worthy.
      4. Okay having the couch take out Fluttershy plants it firmly in the good territory.
      5. I still don't understand Celestia's angle of saying Twilight isn't a princess in the last chapter, okay maybe not in the her and Luna sense, but I'd say she'd definitely fall in the Prince Blueblood territory of nobility while not being immortal.
      6. "WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK I'M THAT SORT OF MARE?" Nice dig at the all the mare/mare shipping in the fanon. Admittedly since we Big Mac and Spike as speaking males in Ponyville it's sort of understanding. One being another species the other only being noticeable for the phrase: Eeyup.
      7. Twilight's mother and the Daytime head of Equestria is most likely corrupted, the end of Equestria may be at had and we have a chapter filled with......comedy?
      8. It appears as if Erebus didn't lie, does the fact Twilight didn't disappear mean she still has a shred of that immortality?
      9. Unbearable?!?! Really, what a terrible terrible pun.
      10. You guys definitely win the my favorite writer and editor notes. Just stop putting effort into the story, I'm here for the commentary at the end.

Nice transition chapter, looking forward to more.

      ReplyDelete
    95. Ugh at the typo I missed in my comment understandable not understanding.

    96. Ok Erberus. That does it! You are so SOOOOO gonna get dispersed into the Void! I dun care what kinda powers or what kinda being you are, NOTHING can exist in absolute entropy! No thought! No matter! No state of being whatsoever! Nothing beyond random, absolute zero darkness and silence! >:C

And also: NM + Twilight... this is also Erberus' fault, since it is now clear it's the one who corrupted Luna. God damn you, Erberus. I'm gonna make you suffer before I disperse you into the Void...

Fifth Alicorn here, also known as that dastardly pink pen you see in the Bloopers reel/ notes at the end. Let's see here...

1)Cover art= amazing. Somepony made it by request, made my parts happy when Drag showed it to me.
      2) Don't worry. I'm editing TER as well, so I'm making D stay on his toes. Tight leash and all that, feel free to write fanfics about it.
3/4) New memes incorporated in ten seconds flat (I may have had a hoof in the whole "slamming into Fluttershy" thing)
      5) Wait and see, my Padawan. All things shall be made clear
      6) TwiLuna = best ship
      7) Just because we have a Grimdark tag doesn't mean we can't be AWESOME XD. Also, I screw around enough in the margins while I'm editing that sometimes Dragryphon throws me a bone
      8) What kind of Alicorn would I be if I gave away spoilers. Also I don't know the answer to that question. My Mistress only lets me out of the cage to edit and make terrible puns
      9) Which brings me here. You know you like it. Don't make me Applejack-hoof you in the mouth
      10) What is this "effort" of which you speak? We screw around for most of the week, then Dragryphon half-flanks the story at the last minute so we can meet her deadline.
      11) I totally missed a potential Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference with my numbering up there, didn't I? I'll have to look for more of those in the fut-AGGGHHHH

      ReplyDelete
    98. @Fifth Alicorn

Hey now, I do not half-flank it. I gave up on my deadlines once I realized I wasn't meeting them.

      ReplyDelete
    99. @Fifth Alicorn

What I took from this response is that Fifth Alicorn is really into BDSm- all this talk of flanks, mistresses, leashes and cages.

      ReplyDelete
    100. @iastfan112

Actually, that's entirely Dragryphon. I just go along with it to please her so I can keep my job. =D

      ReplyDelete
    101. @Fifth Alicorn

I think we've established who the sub in this relationship is!

More on topic, reread the chapter and loved it even more. Integrating humor into a dark story is a huge plus to me.

    102. @iastfan112

Always glad to hear that somepony appreciated my shenanigans. As an interlude chapter, there's always room for comedy, as long as the plot is followed of course. Naturally, I can't guarantee as much comedic presence in the future as there was in this chapter, but Dragryphon always tries to slip in a few here and there.

As always, thanks for being a faithful reader, and definitely feel free to offer forth any suggestions or areas of improvement. Reader feedback is always welcome

      ReplyDelete
    103. @Fifth Alicorn

This story has gone far too long without comment, thus I'm here to rectify that!

TwiLuna is an excellent ship(Favorite story being "Within and Without) but.....Twilestia= best ship(and exceedingly rare). Given that they are related in both this and TER, I'm pretty okay with avoiding incest.

      ReplyDelete
    104. Hmmm...well, first off, I'd like to let you know that in all my years I have never read anything as gripping and heart-pulling a story as Solar Flare, however, I'd like to offer my support with a critique.
After having read all the parts I can safely say that there is little that can be done to improve warmth for the night and Solar Flare, they're just that amazing. In the extra stories I was just as gripped, but I would raise an eyebrow to the occasional meme that popped in (a surprisingly large amount actually). Whereas I especially love your storytelling of the Twilight and Celestia relationship narration, I found myself finding some of the things you'd typed to be slightly more farfetched, or at least moreso than ponies usually command. However, other than these points, I have spent many many hours reading this saga deep into the night~

Kudos, I look forward to the end, but dread its coming, the end of a series that can only be described as monumental.

P.S. Cos Altair and Sol are so amazing and I worry about getting Celestia/Luna's parent's names right that I was wondering whether I could use their names in future fics, for the same characters of course (I'd give credit :3)

      ReplyDelete
    105. @Jett

Oh, just because Deep Dark ends, that doesn't mean there won't be more. I have plans for a filly Celestia and Luna dealing with Discord, as well as side fics to fill things out more, especially for WCHB.

Also, WftN is a Not to be Named fic! XD It was back when I was getting back into writing after several years of not doing so.

Now, for the characters, I really only allow those for fanfics of my fics.

      ReplyDelete
    106. @Dragryphon

Hmm, well, I can say that you'll have a hard time trying to outmatch Solar Flare XD If it were possible to marry a story I would divorce fantastic mr.fox and steal away the words. (/cough/ figuratively speaking of course.)

I managed to get back to writing my own fic while waiting for the next part of Deep Dark.
Srsly. STOP TAUNTING ME XD ITS CRUUUUUUUUUUUEL.

      Aww, okay B3 /pouts/

      ReplyDelete
    107. @Jett

I took a short hiatus to recharge my batteries. Chapter 6 is eight pages in so far, and that's only a third so far, AT LEAST, of what's going to be in it. It'll be anywhere from twenty to forty pages.

      ReplyDelete
    108. Hey, last update about progress with chapter 6 was posted over 2 weeks ago. Could we get some info about how your work is going? Pretty please :)

PS. "Princes Celestia and the Chamber of Dildos" would make a perfect title for one of DD chapters ^^

      ReplyDelete
    109. @Maquabra

You can indeed get more information! Chapter 6 is lengthy, and everybody, from me to the editors, have been increasingly busy with numerous things. It also didn't help that I got into The Old Republic beta for a weekend, as well as Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim coming out.

Not only that, but I dislike writing the mane 6 (Other than Twilight) so that's a hurdle, as they have a large presence in this chapter.

Writer's block, and the fact there's a fight scene I'm working on is making things slow, too.

Hopefully, expect the chapter released the middle of the next week, or at the end, whichever works best after finishing and edits.

      It will be a doozy.

      ReplyDelete
    110. i think im getting sick from reading too much fanfics o.e

      ReplyDelete
    111. @Maquabra

Skyrim for me. Mostly Skyrim. I'll be paying for it soon, though. Like Dragryphon said, it's another lengthy one, and I've done absolutely zero work on it. I see a busy night with plenty of gatorade and apple juice waiting for me (to the moon with caffeine!)

      ReplyDelete
    112. @Fifth Alicorn

With how long updates on this and TER have taken, I figured it was all Fifth Alicorn's fault, good to have confirmation that's the case. What a slacker!

I kid of course. I've been having issues completing the edits in a timely basis on the fic I've been editing(Battlefield 3 and Skyrim being my vices)

      ReplyDelete
    113. @Dragryphon

I never thought I'd be saying this but... Poor Blueblood! Nopony deserves such cruelty! Well... except maybe Celestia now...

*sighs* Well, it seems I'll just have to go over there and take over ANOTHER universe! Geez, you'd think SOMEWHERE in the multiverse somebody could run a universe right! >:/

      ReplyDelete
    114. @karrotline

Of Solar Flare? I'll add you to the ever expanding list of people who have either teared up or cried.

      ReplyDelete
    115. Chapter one of deep dark, with luna's searching sounds a lot like Google

      ReplyDelete
    116. I'm afraid I seem to be a bit lost as far as the newest chapter of Deep Dark goes. I know that they keep referencing Twilight and the other Mane 6 having Nightmare twice with the elements in addition to her defeat by Celestia in the past as told in Solar Flare (Which I absolutely loved by the way! I would go so far to say it may be my favorite fic (except perhaps Frigid Winds and Burning Hearts) and I still cry every time I read the ending). I can't recall the elements having been used upon Nightmare a third time though, am I forgetting a detail from one of the early chapters or stories or is this in reference to another fic entirely?

      ReplyDelete
    117. @lulztopus

I have four fics up on Equestria Daily right now. You can see three of them in this post. Solar Flare was a sequel to Warmth for the Night, an earlier fic of mine that I don't often talk about because it was an earlier work of mine done back when I was just starting to write again after years of not doing such.

      ReplyDelete
    118. In that case I'm off to read it now!

      Please keep being awesome =)

      ReplyDelete
    119. Dragryphon, I was wondering.

Why Deep Dark part 4 is so different from the previous parts ? And by "different" I mean the mood is different, it is humorous, with plenty of reference jokes. It almost feels like somebody else wrote that part.

      ReplyDelete
    120. @jack

Part 4 is sort of an Interlude between the other parts. It doesn't give much towards the story, and it is meant to lighten the mood for what happens ahead.

And no, I wrote that, but it was once again meant to be an Interlude chapter.

      ReplyDelete
    121. Ugh, Dragryphon, Y U NO UPDATE?!?!

      ReplyDelete
    122. @iastfan112

Do not worry, my little pony. Chapter 7 is halfway finished, however, life has kept it from getting all the way finished. It's a doozy.

      ReplyDelete
    123. @Dragryphon
Nice to hear that. About completion, not that pesky life of yours keeping you from writing :P

Your work is in my top3 fanfics ever so I'm really getting impatient here! Keep up the good work, my brony friend.

      ReplyDelete
    124. @Maquabra

While I tend to overestimate the sizes my chapters usually will be, it's up to 22 pages so far, while looking to be anywhere from 30-45 pages by the end.

      ReplyDelete
    125. great so far though i hope you can figure a way for twilight to become an alicorn again maybe if she does still have a shred of immortality that could be used to reverse the spell that turned her into a unicorn since technically it could be that instead of being permanent it's that nopony figured out how to reverse it yet

      ReplyDelete
    126. @Nova007

Not going to happen! Twilight will never again be an alicorn. XD You'll get to see what happens with her soon enough.

      ReplyDelete
    127. Good. Alicorn/God-Mode/Overpowered Twilight is too overdone. I like when god like beings are not simply matched by one mortal that easily.

      ReplyDelete
    128. @Natzo

Indeed. Twilight's a unicorn now. An exceptionally powerful unicorn, but that's like comparing a candle to a forest fire. She can't take on a full strength goddess of any kind, and the only reason she's defeated Nightmare Moon twice was that the first time, she was nearly powerless, having used what little power she had remaining to banish Celestia. NMM wasn't expecting six mares to fight her. The second time she came back from the depths of Luna's mind, and while was more prepared, didn't take everything into account. Luna struck back and gave them enough time to use the Elements.

Nightmare Moon's at full power now.

(Also, Twilight will not become an Alicorn. Her change is permanent, and you'll find out soon why Celestia had to give her up. There's more behind the scenes than anybody knows.)

      ReplyDelete
    129. @Sun Ray

One of my previous stories, one I don't talk about brings NMM back. She was driven mad and pushed to the rear of Luna's mind when the Mane 6 defeated her. She was defeated again, bringing the total to three. Celestia banishing her, Twilight defeating her after she came back, and then the third time.

The first story takes place before Solar Flare, and is actually a sequel to it.

      ReplyDelete
    130. @Sun Ray

Look up Warmth for the Night on EqD. Don't say I didn't warn you. I'm not proud of it. It was written after I had just gotten back into writing, and I didn't make use of editors until halfway through.

I've gotten much better at writing since then, enough that I plan to rewrite Solar Flare to be lengthier and to include everything I wanted it to, and the same with What Could Have Been.

      ReplyDelete
    131. @Sun Ray

Indeed, Solar Flare is the sequel to the epilogue. Even says that in the title of Part 1. XD It's very old, by ponyfic standards.

      ReplyDelete
    132. @Sun Ray
I will have to go with a resounding No. Before G4, I didn't read fanfiction, nor write it. Plus, I have not truly revealed Erebus' intents nor nature. Also, Erebus is the name of a Greek God.

      ReplyDelete
    133. I LOVE THIS FICTION!
It got me started on MLP fictions, and has led me to try to write my own (MTG MLP crossover: plainswalkers can shapeshift, can't they?).
Also, glad to see that this fic isn't as dead as some would have me believe. Seeing as the last known activity here was almost a month ago, and I thought it died before that. Hope you are still alive somewhere out there!

      ReplyDelete
    134. @TheOneTheyCallJeff

Dead? Hell no! The fun has only just begun. I just have a lot of things going on in life, so the writing's been slow. Chapter 8 is halfway done. We finally get to see Cordiara, the City of Night, amongst NMM's (Maaaaaybe) full power.

      ReplyDelete
    135. Heh, you never know. I think you shouldn't trust the Luminary.

      ReplyDelete
    136. @Sun Ray

The fics are also on my FimFiction, along with a large journal entry explaining what is going on.
