• Super Ponybeat: Luna (Nightmare Mode)

I'm glad Eurobeat Brony is still able to find content now that season one is over.  I can't for season two though!

Have some vocal Eurobeat for once!  After the break as always!

    2. Is it Eurobeat brony that is singing or is it someone else?

    3. WOW... this is some deep stuff O_O

    4. Last half minute takes it from 'very good' to 'stunning'.

      ReplyDelete
    5. I actually like the singing He's got a good voice... Except the little bit at the end. That made me jump when I heard it.

I'm actually reconsidered if its worth downloading or not because of that little bit at the end.

    6. Here's a version without the metal ending

    8. Very happy to see him do something completely different, this was fantastic! Great tune, lyrics, everything.
...except that part at the end.

    9. Those who don't like the metal ending of Nightmare Mode might prefer the fadeout of the Dream Mode. Both are available on my Bandcamp site. :3

You can't, what, for season two, exactly? xD
I think you just the entire sentence, dude! :P

    11. I call shenanigans. NOBODY can be this badass. It just doesn't make sense!

      ReplyDelete
    12. Holy crap that was good! I might have to buy this album after it's finalised.

The metal bit was great, all you guys just need to harden up :p

      ReplyDelete
    13. Why do so many not like the metal ending!?
      That was the best part!

      ReplyDelete
    14. Most of this eurobeat stuff sounds like crap to me, but that ending was badass.

      ReplyDelete
    15. Okay, brb. I need to go drive around with this cranked on the speakers.

      ReplyDelete
    16. So if that is his singing, why does he refer to the person making the music and lyrics Eurobeat Brony and the person singing Odyssey?

      ReplyDelete
    17. I loved the whole thing, especially the ending. I was kind of hoping for a growling dark reprise of the chorus though.

      ReplyDelete
    18. At first I moved Eurobeat Brony up on my rankings chart from "Celestia Tier" to "So-Awesome-There's-Not-A-Ranking Tier".

Then it got to the last thirty seconds and I moved it up even higher to "Comedy Genius Tier".

I think they're the same person, Oddysey is just his non-poni name. Or something.

    20. *Jaw starts dropping

      Jaw never stops dropping*

      'Floored' is an understatement.

      ReplyDelete
    21. Like most, I found the ending very shocking, but I find that it makes the song more powerful because of the sudden contrast.

In general, I'll probably listen to the Dream Mode version, but the Nightmare Moon is no worse because of its ending.

On a personal note, however, I always had trouble with the style the ending is in because I can't hear the lyrics at all and in turn, for me, that takes away from the power of the passage.

The colour swap in the video was particularly effective though.

tl,dr: I loved it, even with its ending.

      ReplyDelete
    22. so is this one derived from any particular song from the show or is it just inspired by the show?

"Dream Mode" mix of the song is now up for those of you who aren't so fond of the Metal ending.

    24. This is amazing! Keep up the great work! I think Twilight needs a song like this :D

    25. when i put any of his songs onto my 3ds it's barely audible. how fix?

      ReplyDelete
    26. I've already said what I think of this song on the video.

      ReplyDelete
    27. @Anonymous
why did you split the audio in 3rds?
just kidding, i belive this maybe a problem with your 3DS. try turning the volume up(even though that is obvious) but thats really the only suggestion that anyone can give you. unless there is something about the 3DS that makes it treat mp3's not so nicely.

    28. Noooo why did I burn my Ponybeats CD earlier this afternoon D:

    30. Well done as usual :)

      ReplyDelete
    31. There is no word in any mortal language to describe how epic this is.

      ReplyDelete
    32. "I can't for season two though!"

      I accidentally the sentence.

      ReplyDelete
    33. @La Barata

Ha, me too. :D gonna drive up and down main street with this at full blast.

      u mad, sonic fandom?

      ReplyDelete
    34. This is amazing, and I can't stress that enough. May be my favourite Ponybeat, which is strange considering (as far as I know) it's not even from the show.

I don't quite understand the context of the lyrics, though. Is this song supposed to be being sung by a particular character? I keep shifting between thinking Luna's singing it, Nightmare Moon, Celestia, and the moon itself. Who's supposed to be singing this? The lyrics make reference in first, second, and third-person.

      ReplyDelete
    35. @BronyMike:

I like to take it from the perspective of pretty much anyone(pony) who's ever felt lonely and remorseful. It's sort of a prayer to Luna, asking for understanding and sympathy from the one that they know has felt the same.

      ReplyDelete
    36. BROHOOF!! awesome . . . i couldnt figure out the diff of the dream and nightmare versions . . .at FIRST . . . but then BOOM like a impact at the end of a fall you let loose. I applaud you. And the lyrics were a treat for the ears. I think the lyrics fit quite well. This is a great homage to our lonely Luna.

      ReplyDelete
    37. THAT is going into my Pony Playlist.

      ReplyDelete
    38. IM TYPING IN CAPS BECAUSE THIS IS THE GREATEST THING THIS FANDOM HAS CREATED.

      ReplyDelete
    39. Very Good singing and song (Only thing I question is that why is Celestia the Spiteful one, and not Luna? Seems it should be the other way around.). I'm glad that there's Two Versions, since Death Metal's either a Love it or Hate it, kind of thing.

      ReplyDelete
    40. I love it all except that little ending thing, lol, and I normally like death/black metals. The instrumentation was great at the end, but I think it ruined the entire mood of the song overall with the, honestly, sub-average yelling.

Ah well, I'll listen to the dream version!

      ReplyDelete
    41. That was without a doubt the greatest thing the pony fandom has produced. The death metal growl at the end was INCREDIBLE. Like, I can't even express how amazing it is when someone who can sing THAT well can also bust out the Devil's own voice.

My respect has reached levels nigh untold. This WILL be my most listened to track.

      ReplyDelete
    42. Very spiffy. I'm just curious as to whether the music (before lyrics) is an original composition or based on a piece of background music.

      ReplyDelete
    43. I got chills listening to this.

      Eurobeat Brony, you are -incredible-.

      I'm just sayin'.

    45. This...

      ...this...

      ...this...

      ...this is brilliant!

      ReplyDelete
    46. Wish I could download it but I don't have a way to pay, even if it is just a dollar. :/

      ReplyDelete
    47. @Display Name
Actually, I could see that. Alright, unless there's a canon explanation of the lyrics, my theory is that there's some pony who loved and respected Luna when she was in charge of the moon, then when she was banished this pony waited for her return and eventually this pony's patience fades and it goes on a rampage of sorts.

@AnonymousYou can get it for free, set the donation as 0. I have no money either, don't worry. If I could, though, I'd totally financially support this dude, he deserves it so much.

      ReplyDelete
    48. @BronyMike:

Not exactly what I was thinking, but rampage works. Although I can't think of anypony who would've been alive back before Luna's banishment other than Celestia. Or Dr. Whooves, but he sort of cheated to get there.

      ReplyDelete
    49. I know nothing about music, but to my ears, this sounds seriously professional. Daniel Ingram and Lauren Faust MUST hear this. This song is one of the crown jewels of bronydom.

      ReplyDelete
    50. Awesome. Feels like an anime intro song somehow.

      ReplyDelete
    51. I almost teared.... Such a FANTASTIC piece of music art work this is! MARVELOUS! I simply had to get a download of this.... without the horrid ending. No offense, it just killed the moment.

I'm not much of a lyrics person myself but this perfectly fits with the theme.

Everything about this is just AWESOME!

      ReplyDelete
    52. Spectacular. I'm not normally one for metal vocals, but I like how these fit into the song.

      ReplyDelete
    53. Is there anything this pony can't do? I was totally ready to hate the vocals. This pony deserves all of the praise he's getting. I love the entire album as my wallet gently weeps.

      ReplyDelete
    54. I jumped when the metal voice started and knocked over all my ponies. ;_; I'mm listen to Dream mode and see whic I preffer. I know I couldn't listen to this at night though (talk about ironic!)

      ~*KA*~

      ReplyDelete
    55. @Display NameYeah, "rampage" isn't necessarily the right word for what I think I meant. Either way, as it stands it can probably be interpreted a bunch of ways.

I still can't get over how great the line "Days turned into years and into centuries" is, though. Really reminds me of one of my favourite pics, http://moongazeponies.deviantart.com/art/Luna-s-Moon-Diaries-203241434

      ReplyDelete
    56. This is FREAKING AMAZING. I have been listening to/singing/playing this song nonstop since the 1000 subs preview was out. It's just so beautiful... definitely Odyssey's best ponybeat yet! I will be playing this in my car, with the rest of the album, LOUD. :D

      ReplyDelete
    57. @Display Name

I'm pretty sure the lyrics are sung from Nightmare Moon's perspective (or, if you prefer, the "bitterness in her heart"). In the "dream mode" part she sympathizes with Luna and fills her with ideas of vengeance. It's more obvious in the "nightmare" part, which is after she transforms into NMM; there's no change in speaker between the two parts.

      ReplyDelete
    58. @Anonymous See, now I figured it was something like that, but I still can't figure out "For a thousand years waited here for "

      ReplyDelete
    59. Oh wow wow wow. LOTS of discussion!

To keep a long story short, I originally wrote Luna in the same vein as Display Name mentioned, but it's interesting to see these other approaches. Even I may not know fully-well what I meant, with these approaches~!

As for the Metal... it was an experiment I've always wanted to try. I made two versions in the event that metal didn't work out so well, but I felt it reflected the power of what was going on inside Nightmare Moon's heart during the millenia on the Moon. It clearly worked well for some, and not well for others. Not sure how often I'll do it from now on, but the results were fascinating!

I can't think of a better way to finish off Super Ponybeat Vol. 1. Expect more news on that soon, by the way~!

I thought the metal bit went well. I'm a fan of death metal, and I thought that your growling was quite good. It fits the song well and I'm glad you ventured a try with it. I think it would be awesome to see more metal (with or without growls) in the future.

Your work has been awesome. Can't wait til Vol. 2!

    64. Awesome song. I prefer dream mode tho.

      ReplyDelete
    65. As much as I like this song, it sounds like a Disco Polo.

      ReplyDelete
    66. That was... amazing.

      ReplyDelete
    67. I have to know.
Is the last lyric section supposed to look like bleeding text in Nightmare Mode?

Also, Dream mode is missing from the collective album.

      ReplyDelete
    68. I was going to discount this as just "nice" because the vocal quality isn't the best, but then I realized what was actually being sung. It gave me chills. Metal ending is unnecessary, but this is still kick-ass.

      ReplyDelete
    69. Metal ending made this from perfect to... I don't think that any language on the earth has a word to describe how awesome, amazing, great, these words are just too weak to describe it. It was like HEAVEN!

      ReplyDelete
    70. Not much of a fan of the last bit there, but I still like this song.

      ReplyDelete
    71. @Eurobeat Brony
Why don't you make songs with your vocal version?

      ReplyDelete
    72. Did this guy use anything to edit his voice? AutoTune?

      ReplyDelete
    73. @Anonymous
Confessedly, I did use a bit of pitch correction. While I contemplated going 'raw' as I often like to, I was a bit of a perfectionist about this song... it HAD to sound accurate, and I didn't want my voice (in the bad shape it's currently in) to damage it. I'm not entirely proud of using it, but I'd rather have a finished product that's enjoyable for everyone than let myself get in the way of a good song.

I'm contemplating releasing a non-corrected version for those interested in flogging thems-- er, hearing myself un-corrected.

      ReplyDelete
    74. @BronyMike

Actually this one says you have to put $1 or more. It doesn't let you set it to 0.

      ReplyDelete
    75. @Eurobeat Brony I for one would love to hear you sing un-edited.

      ReplyDelete
    76. Sweet Celestia, I love this. I love it so much. The lyrics are so beautiful, and the whole thing just gives me chills. I especially agree with BronyMike up there about the "Days turned into years and into centuries" line. Admittedly, I prefer DREAM Mode, as I strongly dislike death metal, but I can see why you did it, and applaud you for taking the shot.

Also, Euro, odd question I know, but what's the visual effect you used on the album cover at the end? I'd like to set that as the cover for just this song, but I can't figure out what you did. I know it's not a simple color inversion, I tried that, but I can't think what else it might be. Anyway, if you could let me know that'd be awesome.

      Oh, and @Spazturtle,

Check out the other stuff on his website; anything by "Odyssey" is him, and almost all of it has vocals. Given his earlier comments, I'd assume those are raw.

      ReplyDelete
    77. @the (fallen) Princess Luna
That is Zalgo text, a sort of meme that's boomed over the last few months it seems. Apparently it foreshadows the end of the world and other ill omens as such and corrupts normal things like comics and memes, turning them into sick, twisted versions of themselves.

      ReplyDelete
    78. @Anonymous:
I ran out of free-song-giveout credits through Bandcamp. There ARE other venues (I've uploaded it to Mediafire, for instance) from which you could get the song for free. Bandcamp is just really being a hassle for the free stuff, particularly at the rate through which you guys are snappin' them up!
Worse comes to worst, I have an archive of all my songs' Mediafire links on my DeviantArt blog:
      http://eurobeatbrony.deviantart.com/journal/40529863/

@Shellsh0cker: The visual effect is just inverting the colors. It seriously actually is just that (as conducted by Final Cut Pro).

@"Raw Vocals": I'll release it as an alternate take, then. :)

      ReplyDelete
    79. It's settled then— Non-Pitch-corrected Luna varieties will be released with the Altnerate Versions collection. :)

As for Bandcamp asking for 50 cents or more, that's because I've run out of the amount of free downloads I can give away. Instead of Bandcamp (for free music, anyway), please refer to my DeviantArt Blog entry: http://eurobeatbrony.deviantart.com/journal/40763747

Huh. The GIMP's color inversion gives me something completely different. What the hell.

      ReplyDelete
    83. @Shellsh0cker

It looks to me like it just needs some color correction. I played around with the Curves and Levels (gamma). Gamma alone doesn't work because the outlines don't match. I was getting closer with Curves.

    84. Aw hells yeah. This is another fine piece of song here I have put on my iphone.

Aside from repaying for the album, this song is awesome

    85. This song is not awesome.
It's 20% cooler than just awesome.

    86. NIGHTMARE MOON BOSS-FIGHT THEME!!!
But, some parts confuse me. "forced back into the star"- Luna was trapped in the moon, right? Is this referring to Celestia, because it looked like Celestia came out of the sun after Nightmare Moon was defeated.
Anyway, I love this song, and the evil singing at the end is a nice touch. I can also totally see Luna singing a slower, softer version of this. A female voclaist sHould try this. BaldDumboRat has already started. She has a GREAT Luna voice.
