    2. That is the most adorable image I've ever seen in my entire life. Saved!

...Uh, why is the word "Punishment" in the file name? If cuteness of that magnitude is someone's idea of punishment, go ahead and give me a life sentence!

    3. As a huge Apple Family fan, I'm pretty sure this is one of my favorite fics, now.

Incredibly well-written, adorable, and heart-warming. Great job with this.

She's like 1 Year old or less, here in the story, so she was just mentioned. I guess it was to add details.

And I guess the way their parents died... was a good way to go. It also gives a possible explanation to why they seem to not have parents in the series.

    5. I see the author is cottonmouth... *reads intently*

Bah, it's too adorable and funny, and then quickly turns touching. I kept expecting it to happen, but somehow I couldn't brace myself for it. Great story cotton. You have every right to criticize the rest of us lol.

    6. Why are all the sad fics the best ones?

    7. That was D'awwsome.

    8. why doesnt this have a [sad] tag?! its awesome but man i was not expecting that.

      ReplyDelete
    9. needs a [sad] tag. Had me in tears, despite the bittersweet ending. Well done.

    10. Seth, why do you ALWAYS have problems with forgetting [sad] tags? Really, this has to be at least the 4th time this has happened.

      ReplyDelete
    11. About the [sad] tag issue.

Speaking as one of the beta readers for this, we thought that the [sad] tag may not be totally accurate to how the story was being played out. Inasmuch as there are significant portions of angst and tragedy, it isn't exactly what the fic is about, I believe. It's more about growth and development in the face of it than dwelling in [sad].

Of course, if reader consensus believes that [sad] is needed for this, then I guess that can't be helped but to recategorize it.

    12. This is why I love this show! Leave it to some fans to write fanfics based on an episode they haven't even seen yet!

    13. Thank you kindly everyone.

Blog owner, if you have any time, could you add a special thanks to Phynault and Larince? They really helped me out here A LOT.

    14. This is in incredibly well done fiction. Its just... So great that there's really no words to describe it.

Thanks for the read man! /brohoof

    15. We need more emotional stories like this...

    16. First story on here to make me tear up. And this one doesn't even have the sad tag.

      Great read, very well written!

    17. Apple family best family. Sweet and sad story.

Out of all the pony parents Applejack's being dead makes the most sense. Twilight's a college student, Rarity is out on her own and just occasionally babysits for her little sister, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash each have their own place and Pinkie Pie seems like she's a live in employee for the Cakes. All those ponies are in positions in their lives where it makes sense for their parents to be absent. Applejack runs her family farm and seems to be the primary caregiver, along with her brother, for her little sister. The lack of her parents is noticable.

    21. D'awwwesome is the best way to describe this enjoyable little read. I love a fic that can get me to have a few tears.

    22. So sad!! I loved it. I literally teared (or is it tiered) up at the end. Great story

    23. 5 star, no question.

      sadface, though :'(

    24. Applejack is my favorite pony.

...And this story nearly made me cry.

;-; Curse you you brilliant writer. Curse and bless you at the same time a thousand times.

    25. Wow. Dawwsome only begins to describe this story. It's really just amazing. It's very well written, it tells a story that helps to explain a lot, and I personally, although I am a picky reader loved it! Very great job!

    26. A fitting backstory to Applejack and Macintosh's parents. They died with honor, and it looks like Applejack and Macintosh is going to keep the apple family's legacy.

      5 stars. No doubt.

    27. Aww, man, that was beautiful.

    28. The ending was brilliant. And so was the rest of it. I'm not the biggest fan of Applejack and her family, but this story was still awesome. It left me all tingly. I love tingly stuff.

Applejack's cutie mark-receiving segment was non-canon, of course.

Yeah, this was made a few days before Cutie Marck Chronicles, and I was just waiting for all of my plot to be shred to pieces.

I was relieved when the only thing it nullified was the Cutie Mark.

      Thank you for your comment.

    30. The story's down. I can't read it.

      ReplyDelete
    31. I can't read it either, something with violation of terms in google docs.

      ReplyDelete
    32. The writing here was pretty good, actually. It wasn't really that sad though. . . Ok, I admit it: it made me cry. ; ;

    33. What? WHAT!? Oh Celestia, I did not see that coming! TEARS AND TEARS AND TEARS! I consider myself one tough hombre but DAMN that got me! And when Applejack got her cutie mark and wanted to show it to her parents? A KNIFE IN MY FRIGGIN' HEART! Beautiful! I found it odd that Granny Smith didn't try to console Macintosh, and at other times events happened too quickly, but forget all that! The emotion! The tragedy! An absolutely stunning read.

    34. @Colt.45

If there is one regret I have of this fic, it's the abrupt ending.

I consider it my best work, but apparently my best is still 4-star worthy.

      Oh well.

      Thank you for the comment.

    35. Dammit, why do animated ponies keep making me cry?

      ReplyDelete
    36. So going back through my saved fic collection, and I realized I never gave you a rating. 5 stars of course. I'm fairly sure that Big Mac's final words twisted that knife in my heart a little too hard.

I hope he gets a dedicated episode in season 2. your fic easily made him one of may favorite characters. your right, your best fic Cottonmouth, and sadly it would seem it is lost to the void of the archives. tragic. keep the great ones coming.

Thank you very much. I can't tell you how much comments, no matter how small, warm my heart.

I'm glad you enjoyed the read.
