• Popcap Games Releasing A...Pony Game?

This may or may not be related, I don't really know.

Apparently this pegasus here with a skull butt symbol and the ability to control weather is going to be the star of a new casual game.  Coincidence? Maybe..

Hey! That's... well. Okay. I suppose that's fine. I mean, he does kinda poop lightning. That's pretty cool.

    4. I feel that it is coincidental. In anycase, from what I've read it's gonna be another arcade-like game like Angry Birds... so I'm sorta glad this game has nothing to do with MLP:FiM. Let's wait a bit more for a polished pony platformer or rpg... like that (possibly) upcoming pony mmorpg.

    6. considering the game is apparently about sending ponies to their deaths in a 'perpetual meat grinder' I'm gonna go ahead and pass.

      Are you referencing the Grimdark?

Haha, that's what I was thinking when I first heard it was called Naughty Horse.

    12. I thought that this might be a response to FiM when I saw it yesterday, but then I just figured it was probably just be based on regular My Little Pony, seeing as they have been around for 30 years and all and already kinda had a place in pop culture.

That would be exactly what I'm referencing.

    16. Don't tell me I'm the only one who laughed at "fingergaming"

    17. eep, I got an idea for a MLP game but am not sure if I should submit it to Hasbro or try to get a team together myself to make the game for free.

    18. PopCap stealing ideas for games? This isn't news.

    19. Considering the description I read, it does sound like an attempt to mock MLP and possibly Angry Birds.
Regardless if it imitates the MLP:FiM style, I've seen several people complain about it's existence 'spreading like a plague'. I've seen artists create anti-pony stuff because of it, even stopped acknowledging them because of it.
They probably figure 'I'm sure there're plenty of people who hate all the pony stuff that's been infesting the internet lately. Lets make a game aimed to them and profit!'

And here I was hoping that PopCap could stay classy, not crassy. After Plants vs Zombies and Peggle, it'd be hard for me to dislike them, but still... if you're correct, that does seem like a stunningly disingenuous thing to do considering their demographics.

One would think, considering that, that their ideal scenario involving ponies would be pro-pony rather than anti-, just by the merit of whom they sell their games too.

      This seems terribly ill-advised.

    21. ...what's with this bullshit speculation about this game being an intentional take-that against the show and fandom? Stop being so paranoid.

Maybe this game will be mildly therapeutic to a fraction of those sad, joyless pony haters, but that's it.

    22. "players take control of a “strikingly unpleasant” winged horse that destroys small birds and lands on “more pleasant horses” from above, knocking the nice ponies “earthward into a perpetual meat grinder for extra points.”

      Wat

    23. "Unpleasant Horse, will be aimed at mature audiences, PopCap said."

      Nope.

This clearly has nothing to do with ponies. However, PopCap would be just about the ideal studio to do a casual pony game: they are GODS in this department (money-grabbing, heartless gods, but still).

    24. 4th and Battery came from Popcap, but isn't really Popcap, per say.

Anyway, if you read their FUQ, it's subtly acknowledging ponies. http://www.4thandbattery.com/fuq/

"2. Why do you hate horses?
We love everything. We love cute ponies. We love meat grinders. Put them together: Magic."

    25. Did anyone say POPCAP???!!!

      ReplyDelete
    26. Honestly, unrelated to MLP, but still funny. If it's not your cup of tea, whatever. 4th & Battery is just out there to make some weird games. :P
